Education / 5 Things That Will Happen In 2017 JAMB That Have Never Happened Before by Yarnvibes(f): 6:15pm On Mar 01, 2017
The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made some major changes in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for 2017.

We updated some information on the examination earlier. More adjustments have however been made, and these are some of the things that will happen this year, that have never happened before:

1. Fourth Choice
JAMB has also introduced a fourth choice of school option for candidates but would only be able to select only one government school while filling out their forms online.

2. No choosing of public university
The following was also announced: The new registration platform will now be first choice, second choice, third choice and fourth choice and not most preferred, preferred etc as it was.

Candidates’ first choice can be a College, University, Innovative Enterprises Institutions or Polytechnic/Monotechnic. However, if a candidate makes a Public University his first choice, he will not have any public University to choose for 2nd, 3rd and 4th choice.

He will have on the remaining three choices, a College, a Polytechnic, Private University and IEI’S. However, candidates for the 2017 UTME can now select NCE (College) or ND (Polytechnic/ Monotechnic) as their 1st choice up to 3rd choice and the 4th IEI.

They can select the IEI (Innovative Enterprise Institution, ND) as their 1st choice up to the 4th choice, but can only pick a public university once.

3. JAMB form sold late
The organizers of the major examinations in the country, including JAMB met to avoid a clash in schedules and in order to have a harmonized timetable.

An agreement was reached at the national headquarters of the Board in Abuja on Tuesday, January 24, after a meeting with National Examination Council (NECO), West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Business and Technical Examination (NABTEB) to harmonize the timetable.

This is one reason the registration is yet to begin.

4. Mock UTME
While speaking the body also announced that plans were in place for a mock UTME and this might explain the delay in beginning the sales of the examination forms. So if you are preparing, start your preparations now, so you can do well in both the mock and the real deal.

5. No scratch card
Speaking on the issue of scratch card, the registrar explained that one reason for the delay was due to issues the board had with sale of scratch cards.

He said that whereas candidates used to buy scratch cards to access the forms online previously, they planned to cancel that since it had been abused thoroughly.

According to Daily Trust, he said: “What we want to do is for students to pay directly to government coffers and we are working out the process of doing so to avoid the type of abuse that it has been subjected to.

“So, we want to sell directly and to make sure that candidates pay into TSA account. We have cases of students saying their scratch cards got burnt, others saying their scratch cards were swallowed by snakes or lost in an accident.”

Romance / 5 Reasons Why Women Are Scared To Commit To Relationships by Yarnvibes(f): 7:48am On Mar 01, 2017
The end goal of many relationships is often marriage, settling down together, or cohabitation, depending on which one suits both partners.

No matter how the relationship started- with or without a clear indication of this intention – a time will come in the relationship when a deeper level of commitment will be required;
when one or both partners will demand something more from the relationship and if one partner feels he or she is not ready, the relationship faces the possibility of breaking apart.

Though men are more likely to say no to serious relationship commitments, experience has shown that women are not exempted from the fear of commitment; and in the situations where this happens, here are some of the reasons why women run:

1. Unresolved issues
Sometimes, women are comfortable with the level of their relationship and want nothing more because they are at a phase of building themselves, moving on from unhealed pains from the past, and generally coming to terms with stuff in their lives.

Adding the extra commitment to a relationship might be too much to handle at that time, and it is common to hear such women say stuff like “I’m not ready.”

2. Uncertainties
When a man proposes moving to the next phase of a relationship and the girl refuses, the reason could be because she still has reservations, fears, worries, uncertainties about the guy.
Sometimes it’s about the man, not the woman.

3. Someone better
Some other women would refuse to commit to their partner because they are holding out for someone better – in loving, finances, etc - to come along.

4. Exes
Being hung over an ex is what prevents certain other women from pledging more commitment to their present relationship.

Some babes use a certain boyfriend as a standard for all others and no matter how long it takes, or how many relationships they enter, they still remain tied to that former ex and keep hoping that he comes back.

Some women belong in this category and if there is any faint hope of that boyfriend coming back, they’ll keep everything on hold – including their present relationship with you – and wait for him.

5. She's playing
Best believe that there are ladies who refuse to commit because they’ve been in the relationship all along to only catch cruise, have fun, maybe spend your money.

Education / UNIOSUN To Expel Over 4,000 Students Over Non-payment Of Tuition Fees by Yarnvibes(f): 4:42am On Feb 28, 2017
The management of Osun State University, Osogbo has resolved to expel over 4,000 students of the institution who refused to pay their tuition fees within the stipulated period which would expire on 28 of February.

In a press statement issued from the Corporate Affairs Unit of the university and signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr Gafar Shitu, the management of UNIOSUN said any student that failed to pay the tuition fees before the expiration of February 28, 2017 deadline would no longer be considered to be a student of the university.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Labode Popoola earlier told noted that students owed the university a backlog of school fees to the tune of N2billion (Two Billion Naira).

According to the statement, a total of four thousand, four hundred and ten (4,410) students have not paid their school fees whereas majority of these students have collected the money from their parents but either “invested” in the failed MMM scheme or diverted same to other purposes.

The Registrar said no fewer than 400 parents and guardians of the defaulting students have called the University helplines to report that they had long given money to their children to pay school fees.

“Students who cannot meet up with the deadline and do not want their studentship terminated may apply in writing to the school authorities to grant them leave of absence for the current semester with a sworn affidavit, pledging to make payment before resumption from the leave of absence.

The Management of UNIOSUN would no longer tolerate non-adherence to the deadlines for payment and course registration as contained in the University calendar and students handbook”.

“With regard to this current 2016/2017 academic session, late registration commenced on December 5, 2016 and lasted till December 24, 2016 when the students’ portal was automatically shut down.

However, the University Senate at its meeting of January 26, 2017 after observing that a large number of students had refused to turn up in spite of ceaseless appeals, decided that the students’ portal be reopened longer into 12th week of resumption against the four weeks stipulated in the University regulations.

The decision of the University Senate, which was adequately communicated to all the students on February 2, 2017, was to afford more students the opportunity to pay their fees with effect from 17th to 24th February, 2017, a date which was later extended till February 28, 2017”.

On 16 February, 2017, some students embarked on a protest against the enforcement of extant rules and regulations regarding fee payment and registration. Investigations show that over 90 per cent of the protesters had not registered for between two and 11 semesters, and were thus using the stipulated late registration penalty of N10, 000 as a smokescreen for their years of defaulting in fee payment and registration.

The University Senate has made it clear to the public that at no time was school fees increased and has thus decided that no unregistered students should be permitted to write the First Semester Examinations, which commence on Monday, March 6, 2017.

The Registrar said the defaulting students who do not seek for leave of absence will also have their studentship terminated.

Romance / 7 Weird Things Men Find Attractive In Women by Yarnvibes(f): 7:33am On Feb 27, 2017
It is quite easy to guess what men generally find attractive in women- a pretty face, nice curves, good manners, and every other thing nice.

While we could go on mentioning the great, endearing attributes that almost every man would be attracted to in a heartbeat, we've also discovered, from research and questioning guys, that there are some weird things that men love about women, things you would never have guessed or imagined.

Some of these things are 'special' personal preferences, and some are a bit common among men... but they are all weird none-the-less.

Below, we list seven weird things men find attractive in women - watch out for number 3 and 4!

1. Weakness
Not weakness in the sense of being unable to stand up and speak for yourself, or being spineless but as Francis puts it "I like it when my girl calls me to help her solve riddles, lift stuff or provide answers to things that confuse her. I think it's so cute. Makes me feel like a man"

All men love to have their ego stroked once in a while, right?

2. Applying makeup
From the way men complain about women wasting time with makeup, it's quite strange to discover that some men actually love watching them apply it.

Foundation for a relationship on fleek, maybe?

3. Stubbornness
Okay. This is straight up weird AF. Who loves a stubborn woman, right?

Well, Chinedu says "I love stubbornness in a woman... I don't know why, I can't explain it, I just do."

It's probably about the thrill of conquering and subduing her. We guess.

4. Stretch-marks
Never thought the word stretch-mark and attractive would ever be used in the same sentence but some guys actually find stretch marks attractive.

They say it's something about loving a woman "despite her imperfections."
Fair enough.

5. Wearing glasses
This is quite common and very understandable - women in glasses are usually very good looking.
Why this makes our list is because women who wear glasses sometimes fear they are unattractive because of that.

If only you knew how gorgeous those frames make you look!

6. No make up
"I just like it when she can feel comfortable around me without makeup. I feel she needs to know that with or without makeup, I find her gorgeous" says Ibidapo.

7. Clumsiness
While it is cool to be well-behaved, comported, and calm, quite a number of guys have also shown interest in women with clumsy, goofy sides - those who are not always serious or uptight and can make those crazy faces for selfies.

Family / 6 Signs Your Child Is A Tech Addict by Yarnvibes(f): 6:51am On Feb 26, 2017
With technology in our faces, it is unsurprising that many of us are addicted to our gadgets. You may be very unaware of this devotion to your device. Irrespective, adults can easily streamline the relationship with their gadgets. However, for children, this is absolutely not the case. Children are straightforwardly fascinated and carried away by anything.

Technology is even worse because it has simplified access to the world. How? You can Google whatever you want on your smartphones at the click of a button. So, parents should be very concerned and worried because when children addicted to anything at a very young age, it may be difficult to abdicate it as they grow. If this is the case, and you observe your child always on Facebook instead of reading his books, it obvious signs. You should be concerned with his performance at school declines. It may be time to get rid of the phone.

2. Social withdrawal
When your child is meant to be playing with his friends, he’s either alone playing a computer game or on his phone surfing the internet. He is oftentimes doing something with technology on his own instead of building physical relationships. This is a sign that he is becoming a tech addict. When you notice this, try to encourage your child to take breaks and play with friends.

3. Complains of boredom
The question is can a child be bored? If they are not playing with their friends, they will play on their own! That are children for you. This doesn’t take away the fact that they can be bored. But if your child tells you that she is bored especially when she is not with a phone or playing a video game, it may be a sign. You should teach them how to engage with technology.

4. Spends too much time with tech
Your child doesn’t do any other thing than to spend time looking or playing with their preferred device, it is time you do something. For children, technology should only be for leisure not to be so attached or addicted to it.

5. They refuse to answer after several calls
A child that is addicted to tech will be so carried away that he will be unable to answer his name. In addition, he throws tantrums because you disrupt whatever he is doing. This is not good. It is better you get rid of that gadget before it gets out of hand.

6. Procrastination
Procrastination is postponing whatever you do for later. Notwithstanding, children shouldn’t be procrastinating. But with technology all over the place, procrastination is very rife among children.

Events / 5 Money Mistakes To Avoid When Planning Your Wedding by Yarnvibes(f): 10:12am On Feb 21, 2017
Planning a wedding is not a child’s play whether you engage a wedding planner or not. It is very challenging and demanding because it requires thorough planning and of course money. The funds you have will go a long way in determining your type of wedding. But since Nigerians love weddings and it is once in a lifetime, they go all out and they don’t mind breaking the bank. Regardless, if you are not careful, you will make some monumental money mistakes when planning your wedding. Not to worry, Kikiotolu identifies some of these mistakes.

1. Talk about the budget
There is no gainsaying that you must have a budget when planning your wedding. However, you must ensure that you discuss the budget with your bride or groom. This will ensure that both of you are on the same page when the spending eventually starts.

2. You don’t put a price to whatever you are shopping for
The prices of groceries and other items have significantly increased. Therefore, it is smart if you put a price to nearly everything to make your shopping easier. You can get the prices of whatever you want to buy online by going window shopping.

3. Sticking to your budget
Sticking to your budget when planning your wedding is not advisable because emergency expenses will always come up. You should make arrangement for these extra expenses so that you will not be caught in a web.

4. Not making arrangements on how to recoup money
This may be funny but you should do it anyway. You should make arrangements for how to recoup some of your wedding expenses. You should employ a live band and make sure there is time for couple’s dancing on the list of things to do. This way you will get some money to settle certain expenses.

5. Borrowing to finance your wedding
You should never borrow money to finance your wedding because you will have to pay back after tying the knot. You may end up paying for debts in the first few months of your wedding which doesn’t leave a good taste in the mouth.

Business / Rolls-royce Loses $5.7bn To Corruption In Nigeria And Other Countries by Yarnvibes(f): 10:50am On Feb 19, 2017
Rolls-Royce has reported £4.6bn ($5.7bn) annual loss largely due to currency depreciation and payment of $808m fine to affected countries where it was involved in corrupt practices.

According to a news agency, The Nerve, the motoring company had last month (January) apologised for the corruption case that centred around allegations that the group hired middlemen to broker deals in a number of countries including Nigeria, South Africa and Angola.

In 2016, Rolls-Royce and its agent company in Nigeria, PSL Engineering and Control, ordered to supply gas turbines to power plants in the oil states of Bayelsa and Delta, were accused of various projects, especially to Oghareki power plant in Delta that cost $100m but was never completed.

Findings from an investigation conducted by the Guardian and the British Broadcasting Corporation had uncovered leaked documents and testimony from insiders that suggested that Rolls-Royce might have benefited from the use of illicit payments to key officials and politicians to boost profits for years.

The Guardian/BBC investigation, called Panorama, revealed that Nigeria, Angola and South Africa were part of the 11 countries the company had hired intermediaries.

The investigation also revealed Rolls-Royce hired Fana Hlongwane, who is close to South Africa’s ANC government, in 2008 to help broker deals in the country.

Although, Nigeria or South Africa have yet to get any amount from the agreement, the company revealed last month it had agreed to pay £671m to settle corruption cases with the United Kingdom, the United States and Brazilian authorities.

The company’s Chief Executive, Warren East, took the helm in 2015 and has been tasked with turning around the company.

East said, “While we have made a steady start, more remains to be done. The addition of new management and a renewed focus within the business leadership teams, with clear goals and stronger accountabilities, should provide a strong platform for further progress in 2017.”

He added he would reveal further plans about the firm’s direction later this year.

Webmasters / 6 Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do With Google by Yarnvibes(f): 7:23am On Feb 19, 2017
Who knew you could use Google to plan a wedding? That’s just a few of the awesome things you didn’t know you could use Google to do. Kikiotolu unravels the mystery and reveals 6 things you didn’t know you could use Google to do.

1. SET A TIMER
You can use Google to set a timer. Simply google the amount of time you want to set and include the word ‘timer’ at the end. A countdown will come up and you can set it to make a sound when the set time has elapsed.

2. SPLIT A BILL
On a night out with a group of friends, you’ve all ordered your meals and eaten to your heart’s content. Now it’s time to pay the bill. Rather than struggle to calculate the amount each person is going to pay, you can simply google ‘tip calculator’. You enter the cost of the bill and the number of people to pay for it. It’ll give you the cost for each person. If you want to add a tip for the waiter to the cost, you can include the percentage of the tip you want to give or you can just set the ‘tip %’ at 0% if you don’t want to give a tip.

3. FILTER YOUR GMAIL
Especially when using your Gmail to register or sign up to certain websites, you can add “+anything” to your email address, this will create a folder that all emails from that site will go to automatically. This will help you keep your Gmail in order and avoid irrelevant emails mixing up with the relevant ones. The format for this is your
email+websitename@gmail.com e.g david.michael+kamdora@gmail.com.

5. PLAN YOUR WEDDING
Yes Google can help you plan your wedding. You can either use this link “https://drive.google.com/previewtemplate?id=0AhN0y99GtIFTdE
c0ZzFkMU8tZmFTSVp3dmhhMlRycWc&
&ddrp=1#” to access the all-in-one wedding planner, or google ‘Google Weddings’ and follow the result with the heading “Wedding: All-in-One Wedding Planner”. Google Weddings helps you do everything from announcing the news of the wedding engagement to finding a venue, making a budget, creating the guest list, creating the schedule etc.

6. FIND OUT THE WEEK’S FOOTBALL FIXTURES
All you need to do is google the football league and a chart will come up showing the different teams in the league that have played alongside their scores, and the teams to play in the coming weeks along with the times they are to play. For example, if you google ‘epl’, a chart with all the scores and schedules for the teams to play in that league will come up. The chart basically shows you the scores and game schedules for all the teams in that league.

Politics / Nigerian Governors Salary: See How Much Nigerian Governors Earn Monthly by Yarnvibes(f): 3:35pm On Feb 18, 2017
If you have been pondering on the exact amount state Governors in Nigeria earn at the end of every month here is a post that is going to give you just that. The salary of each state Governor in Nigeria might come as a shock to you giving the current economic situation of the country.

How Much Do State Governors Earn In Nigeria This Year 2017?

You cannot really ascertain the actual amount a state Governor in Nigeria takes home at the end of every month. There are so many benefits, and allowances which fluctuate monthly and also vary per state. Though the basic salary of all State Governors in Nigeria is the same all round the Federation.

• Nigerian Governors earn N2.2 Million Naira Monthly as Basic Salary

There are still other entitlements and allowances which states Governors in the country earn at the end of the month, quarterly and yearly. The figure can rise to as high as N5million per month.

Many Nigerians have called for a reduction in the basic salary and entitlements of State Governors in Nigeria as it is believed they are earning too much. With the current economic recession and fall in the value of the Naira it is believed that Nigerian public office holders should not be earning as much as that monthly.

As we all know not only the state governors in Nigeria earn millions monthly from the national treasury also other public office holders like Senators, Honourables of the house, president, his vice, commissioners, minsters and lots more earn huge salaries.

• The Deputy State Governor In Nigeria Earns N2.11 million Naira per month as basic salary

• State Commissioners In Nigeria Earn N1.33 million Naira monthly as basic salary

Though many have argued that it is not the salaries of the public office holders in the country that is the cause for the economic woes, some have stood with the claim that the system of government in Nigeria is to expensive and there is need for imminent restructuring.

Literature / Differences Between A Short Story, Novelette, Novella, & A Novel by Yarnvibes(f): 4:51am On Feb 18, 2017
When I first started writing professionally, there were a lot of basic questions in my mind, one of which was, What are the major differences between a short story, novelette, novella, and a novel?

Novellas and novelettes might not be very common, but we often see short stories and novels. Knowing the differences, however, is still important. Although they are all works of fiction, each type has its own purpose. In this article, I will try to put light on some of the major differences between flash fiction, short story, novelette, novella, and a novel.

Beginners will find this very helpful in their writing journey. Apart from some of the basic differences in terms of word count, you will also learn a few technical points that differentiate these works of fiction.

Flash Fiction: 53 - 1,000 words
Short Stories: 3,500 - 7,500
Novellettes: 7,500 - 17,000
Novellas: 17,000 - 40,000
Novels: 40,000 + words

What Is Flash Fiction?

53 - 1,000 Words

Flash fiction (also known as short, short stories, micro fiction, or postcard fiction) are stories that take pride in their extreme brevity: some works of flash fiction have only 53 words, while others have 1,000. These works used to be referred to as "short short stories" until around the turn of the century (the year 2000), when the term "flash fiction" became the norm.

What Is a Short Story?

3,500 - 7,500 Words

The most important difference between a short story, novelette, novella, and a novel is the word count. An average short story usually has at least 3,500 words and no more than 7,500. Traditionally, short stories were meant to be read in a single sitting. They are usually published individually in magazines and then collected and published in anthologies.

A short story is one of the most common forms of writing. It is often used to describe a single event, a single episode, or a tale of one particular character. A short story does not usually involve major twists and conflicts, and involvement of various sub-plots and multiple characters is not common. A short story is basically fictional prose, written in a narrative style. However, the narrative style may either be first person or third, or whichever the author chooses.

What Is a Novelette?

7,500 - 17,000 Words

A novelette is also a narrative fictional prose. Back in the day, the term "novelette" referred to a story that was romantic or sentimental in character. To be honest, in modern times, the term is rarely used, and novelettes are rarely published singly.

A novelette is longer than a short story, but shorter than a novella. The word count is usually between 7,500 words to 17,500 words.

What Is a Novella?

**17,000 - 40,000 Words

Novellas were first introduced in the early Renaissance (1300s), but their genre did not become firmly established until the late 18th and early 19th century. A novella is longer than a novelette and is sometimes called a long short story or a short novel. Although in the past, novellas were commonly written and published, and some to great acclaim ( A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess and The Metamorphosis by Kafka, for example), these days it is considered to be an awkward length and it may be more difficult to get a novella published.

It can involve multiple sub-plots, twists, and characters. Its length constraints mean you'll find fewer conflicts in a novella than you will in a novel, but there will also be more nuance and complication than you'll find in a short story. Novellas are more often focused on one character's personal and emotional development rather than with large-scale issues. In the past, the novella was often written with a satirical, moral, or educational purpose in mind. Therefore, it usually depicts the tale or story of a single character, but as I mentioned, it can involve multiple characters. Unlike novels, novellas are usually not divided into chapters, and like short stories, they are often meant to be read in one sitting.

What Is a Novel?

40,000+ Words

The novel is one of the more common works of fiction that we encounter. A novel often involves multiple major characters, sub-plots, conflicts, points of view, and twists. Due to its considerable length, a novel is meant to be read over a period of days. The plot moves forward through many characters, actions, thoughts, time periods, and situations. The reader often feels that the story deviates and is affected by the involvement of different sub-stories and sub-plots, by the passage of time, or by the involvement of new important characters– this is considered the real beauty of a novel.

The word count of a novel is really debatable. This is because different genres have different requirements. However, a novel is usually no shorter than 40,000 words. For modern publication, editors often consider a novel one which is spread over 80,000 – 120,000 words. Romance novels, however, can be shorter than that. On the other hand, a fantasy, horror, and science fiction usually see works of greater lengths.

The word count for fantasy novels often touch the 240,000 mark. Some famous books, like the Lord of the Rings series, are famous for containing so many words. The Harry Potter series has 1,084,170 words; Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix itself has 257,045 words.

Some members of the National Youth service Corps (NYSC) 2016 Batch B Stream 2 are complaining rejection by both private and public agencies where they were posted to for their Primary assignment.

Most of the affected corps members happens to be those posted in major cities across the various states of the Federation. The corps members who just completed their 21 days orientation exercises have been left to seek new places of primary assignment as many establishments complain lack of funds to pay monthly stipends.

Ojodomo Ogu, a graduate of the Kogi State University, said that the agency where he was posted, flatly turned him down.

According to him, the agency based its decision on the lack of provision for corps members’ stipends in its 2017 budget. He further stressed the need for the scrapping of the NYSC scheme since government institutions could no longer accommodate corps members.

Asides being posted to places of primary assignments where their services are not needed some have been posted to establishments without able hands leading to work over load for the corps members.

One of the affected corps member who spoke directly with KikioTolu said she was posted to a primary school constructed by plywood and required to take 8 lesson periods per day without accommodation or monthly stipends.

This is coming after the posting of the 2016 Batch B Stream 2 Corps members was delayed for weeks by the Federal Government due to funding issues.

Politics / FG To Generate $16.4bn Through Sale Of Assets by Yarnvibes(f): 7:33am On Feb 14, 2017
The Federal Government plans to generate up to $16.4 billion through asset sales in the next four years to reduce the burden on the nation’s budget.

A document obtained by Bloomberg from the Ministry of National Planning, which outlines the country’s plans for economic recovery from 2017 to 2020, revealed that the sales was to help tackle inefficiencies and stem “corruption in public enterprises”, though assets to be sold were, however, not named.

It was gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari will introduce the proposal later this month.

Nigeria estimates its economy contracted 1.5 percent in 2016, partly because of a decline in the price and output of oil, the country’s biggest export and revenue generator.

The Federal Government proposed a 20 percent increase in this year’s budget to stimulate the economy and help gross domestic product expand by an average of 4.7 percent annually over four years and reach 7 percent in 2020.

Pabina Yinkere, Head of Research at Vetiva Capital Management Ltd., told Bloomberg: “They could look at reducing government stakes in oil joint ventures from around 55 percent to 40 percent or 45 percent.

‘’That alone can generate over $10 billion. Non-oil assets like concession of airports are a more difficult sale because they would involve a lot of transactions.”

The government targets oil production of 2.5 million barrels a day by 2020 to boost export earnings, it said in the document.

Output declined to an almost three-decade low of 1.4 million barrels per day in August after militants in the Niger Delta bombed pipelines to demand more benefits from the resource.

Overall, the Federal Government is said to have developed 59 strategies for implementation to achieve the strategic objectives of the Economic Recovery Growth Plan that will be launched in the next few weeks.

The document, which is awaiting Federal Executive Council’s endorsement, has twelve strategies that have been prioritised based on their importance to the success of the government recovery plan.

Those working on the document said the plan would accelerate non-oil revenue generation through expanding the tax base, blocking leakages in tax avoidance and non-payment.

The plan is expected to drastically cut cost and align monetary and fiscal policies. The government also during the plan period, will spend heavily to expand critical infrastructure, especially power, roads and rail.

Another strategy in the recovery plan is government’s intention to revamp the four existing refineries to ensure local supply of petroleum products in order to conserve foreign exchange.

It is also stated in the document, government’s intention to expand its social investment and deliver on agricultural transformation.

NYSC / Why Abia State Nysc Camp Is One Of The Best In Nigeria by Yarnvibes(f): 9:29am On Feb 13, 2017
You don't need to fight me on this.... Am only talking from my own personal and humble experience on the camp.

"Camp Abia: The first camp in Nigeria", as it is popularly called, is really one of the camps to be for the compulsory three weeks Nysc orientation course. Not just because she is the first on the list of NYSC camp, but she also possess some beautiful features that it's worth talking about.

Before i went for service, trust me, i have heard lots of terrible stories from many people. Even from those that have never being to the gate of any camp. They told me a book-full of different "Faboos". lol....

I heard about the terrible lifestyle on camp; the maltreatment corpers receive from camp soldiers; the sickness and lots more. Am very sure you heard the same stories too, or perhaps you will soon hear them.

My deployment to Abia state did not give me enough opportunity to confirm if those stories are really true, but what i know is that Camp Abia is the contrary of it all. So don't be annoyed if you passed through all those horrible experiences as we were told. Let me give my brief reasons why i will recommend Abia state for any prospective corp member to consider including in their 3 choice of Service.

=> Perfect Location

Abia state camp is located in Umunna, Bende Local government of the state. The location of the camp is perfectly figured out to eliminate every stress and inconvenience any stranger may encounter in locating it. Unlike many camps which are located in the urban area of the state, Abia camp is located away from heavy traffic. So even if thousands of prospective corp members decided to travel down there on same day, traffic will never be a problem. "The sky is wide enough to contain thousand birds at a time".

=> Water

Hmmmmm.... This is a very important factor to consider when ranking Nigeria camps. If you think that's a lie, you better ask people that served in camps like............ they will tell you how important water is to corpers over one thousand in number.

But trust me, the water supply in Camp Abia is 24/7. Never stopping. Every corper always have their fill. To wash, to drink, and to take their baths.

Yes, i mean "drink". Camp Abia water is completely drinkable and free of germs. Even if you don't have enough money on camp, the camp is able to completely sustain you in terms of food and water.

=> Food

Camp Abia food is not the "Oh my God" type of food. They don't absolutely go for indigenous foods like some other camps will do. The only one i could remember eating on the camp is Garri (Eba). Which i don't think its too strange as such for any Nigerian youth.

=> Security

The security on this camp is 100%. You have nothing to fear while on the camp. Ranging from the terrible insurgency to the least expected insurgents.... Mosquitoes.

You are completely save from them all. While on Camp Abia, you can sleep with your two eyes closed without the fear of a thing.

=> Hospitality

Camp officials on the camp treats the prospective corp members as their own children. They won't permit maltreatment from any soldier or camp officials.

Good accommodation is on ground for corpers to rest their heads. Not the type that you will need to support the windows or matress with mats or your kaki. But a comfortable one to have good dreams of better Nigeria.

Mammi market traders are also everything to write about. They don't over-inflate their prices beyond normal, and are really helpful in running your little shores for you.

If you want to really confirm these things i have said, consider choosing Abia state and enjoy, not only the Camping life, but also the after-camp experience on the streets of Abia state.

Subscribe to this blog to receive more updates from it. And never you forget to enjoy your service year from start to finish while it lasts.

Phones / 5 Reasons Your Smartphone Battery Will Always Be Low by Yarnvibes(f): 6:01pm On Feb 12, 2017
Smartphone batteries have been reinforced over the years to last longer with lithium batteries. Notwithstanding, there are some phones whose batteries drain within a few minutes. There may be nothing wrong with the battery. But the question is why is the battery not lasting longer than usual? In response to this, Jumia Travel shares five reasons why.

1. The screen is too bright
One way that your battery runs out of battery is when your screen is too bright. The brightness will affect not only the battery but also your eyes. It’s better to set your phone to automatically adjust to the lighting of the ambiance. You can also reduce the time it takes for your phone to go off whenever you stop using it.

2. You forget to switch off your WiFi
You are using your phone WiFi where it’s actually functioning. After leaving the place, you forget to switch it off. If it keeps searching and alerting you whenever WiFi is available, your battery will run out pretty fast.

3. You receive notifications every second
Why won’t your phone battery drain when your phone keeps alerting you of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and other notifications? Then you don’t need to complain. You check your browser for notifications rather than using the apps. You can also turn off notifications

4. Background apps are running
You should check the background apps draining your battery so that you can ‘kill’ them. Your phone may alert about the apps consuming the most battery. But sometimes you have to disable these apps yourself by refreshing or cleaning your phone.

5. Your battery is bad or damaged
If you have tried all of the aforementioned reasons and your battery still runs out very fast, you should consider replacing the battery because it may be bad or damaged.

Religion / Guard Your Eyes And Ears; You Are A Product Of What You Hear by Yarnvibes(f): 7:29am On Feb 12, 2017
Going by Romans 10:17, Faith comes by hearing. If faith comes by hearing then it can go by hearing (the wrong things). Faith and worry cannot exist in the same place at the same time.

Proverbs 4:23, Keep your heart with all diligence. When you are agitated, it is not faith. There is nothing that deflates faith more than nervousness. Faith does not come by knowing, you need to hear what you know. Do not get stuck with what God said, find out what He is saying now.

The Word of God needs to be broken down to the smallest simplest element so it can be absorbed into your spirit. What you make available to your mind, your mind will process, Joshua 1:8.

According to James 2:14-26 , Many people are interested in only having faith and not using it. Faith comes by hearing but it is used by action. When you separate faith and work, you get a corpse.

According to Hebrews 4:10 , your works is different from works of faith. If you enter God’s rest, you cease from your own works (struggling, hustling etc). When you are operating in faith, you ought to be calm, cool and collected because you know whom you believe in (God).

In Luke 17:5-6 , it is not about having faith to brag with but it is about using it.

You need a mustard seed sized faith to talk to a mulberry tree sized situation. “God is Able” makes you have faith while “God Will” makes you release faith. When you move from the level of God is able to God will that is when you have released your faith, Daniel 3:17.

DECLARATIONS
I guard my heart diligently
I not only have faith, I also release my faith to obtain what grace has made available; In Jesus Name Amen!

Car Talk / 5 Signs You Might Be Spending Too Much Money On Your Car by Yarnvibes(f): 12:08pm On Feb 11, 2017
For many in Nigeria today, a car is a necessity rather than a luxury. It makes you mobile and you don’t get to experience the shenanigans of Lagos Danfos . In this recession, such monies can be used for other important things. Hence, you should look out for some warning signs that will alert you that you are spending too much money on your car. Jumia Travel discloses some of them.

You are a regular visitor to your mechanic
In a week, you visit your mechanic more than two times and in some cases, you leave your car at the workshop. Of course, every time you take your car to him, you have to pay for his service. It may be time to get rid of the car.

Uses too much fuel
The more you use your car, the more you spend on fuel. Also, considering the unpredictable cost and scarcity of fuel, the overhead expenses will increase. So, rather than going in your own car, you can go in your neighbour’s car.

You are spending too much on parts
Cars require new parts but when you frequently have to buy new parts, you should be concerned. The reason for this may be because your mechanic is shortchanging you or your car needs a total checkup. You should make efforts to replace your car.

You don’t get any benefits from your insurance
Your insurance is expected to cover your expenses in the case of an unfortunate incident. Unsurprisingly, insurance doesn’t work like this. This said you should compare the insurance cost and the expenses for repairing your car, then decide which is preferable or suitable. If none works for you, you may decide to abandon the car.

You are always towing your car
There is nothing wrong with towing your car. However, when towing your car becomes a major feature of your daily routine, you should be the concern. This is because you will spend quite an amount in towing it. And if you do this twice or thrice a week, it will undoubtedly affect your finance.

Agriculture / 17,000 Farmers Empowered Through Intervention Loans In Osun by Yarnvibes(f): 7:30am On Feb 11, 2017
No fewer than 17,000 farmers have benefited from the loan scheme of the Osun Quick Impact Intervention Programme (QUIIP) as part of the comprehensive programme of the Rauf Aregbesola administration to boost agriculture.

A set of 77 farmers’ cooperative groups benefited under the QUIIP I while another set of 419 farmers’ cooperative groups benefited from both QUIIP II programmes. Some of the cooperative groups have as much as over 200 farmers as members.

While the sum of N164, 882. 920 million was disbursed to farmers under QUIIP I programme, N686, 786, 612 million was distributed under the QUIIP II, coming to a total of N851, 669, 532 million.

A statement by the Bureau of Communication and Strategy signed by its Director, SemiuOkanlawon, quoted the Coordinator of QUIIP, Mr. Dele Ogundipeto have given the breakdown on Tuesday when farmers under the QUIIP programme gathered at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park Osogbo to express appreciation to the government for its massive support for food production and general agric business in the state.

This was just as other heads of agencies told the huge gathering the extensive support programme of the Aregbesola administration since inception.

The Osun State Agricultural Development Corporation (OSSADEC) gave out N250million loan to farmers in 2010 and N500million in 2012.

Also, as part of the massive provision of infrastructure to aid farming, the Rural Accessibility Mobility Programme (RAMP), constructed for the state 662km rural roads for easy access to farm settlements.

In addition, out of 300km World Bank-assisted programmes, 225km roads had been completed through N12bn World Bank assisted loan where Osun paid a counterpart fund of N2bn.

The breakdown was made by the Project Manager of the RAMP, Lere Oriolowo.

However, Aregbesola called on all farmers who had benefitted from the agriculture loans to repay the initial capital so that the money could circulate among other farmers in the state.

The governor expressed concern that only a paltry sum of N364, 693. 21 had been repaid out of N1. 421bn government lent the farmers.

On micro-credit scheme, the governor stated that the government also made soft loan available for the development of small and medium scale businesses in the state.

He said that the loan was targeted at micro-enterprises such as traders, artisans, market men and women and entrepreneurs.

The General Manager of the Osun Micro-Credit Loans Agency, Dayo Babaranti, had earlier announced that almost 25,000 beneficiaries had benefited from the facilities from the agency.

According to the Governor, the state borrowed N2bn from the CBN and deposited it with the Osun State micro finance Bank for the people to assess at free interest.

Aregbesola said that the government undertook to pay the interest rate pegged at 9 percent by the CBN, which totalled N186 million.

He averred that the interest people were supposed to pay on the principal borrowing was thus taken up by the government so as to make it easy for the borrowers.

Aregbesola said that against the backdrop of the current economic crisis, the whole country is neck-deep in crisis which only massive agriculture can remedy.

The governor therefore made passionate appeal to farmers across the state to stand up and redouble their efforts towards massive engagements in different forms of agricultural practices from poultry to cash and food crops.

Governor Aregbesola noted that the only panacea to the current economic imbroglio is for every serious minded government to rise to the occasion and look for alternative means by exploring the abundant potential in agriculture.

Aregbesola said: “At this critical juncture and judging from the economic crisis of the present, our state has no alternative than to diversify and stop relying on what comes from Abuja, if we must survive.

“Therefore, our dream is to turn the state into a modern, industrial and commercial agricultural state.”

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / 5 Reasons Nigerians Should Stop Watching The English Premier League by Yarnvibes(f): 1:18pm On Feb 10, 2017
The English Premier League is one of the most exciting football leagues in the world. Thus, it is unsurprising that many Nigerians are addicted to it.

Every weekend, viewing centres are filled out with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City among other EPL clubs. It is, therefore, near impossible to end the attachment of Nigerians to the premier league. Nonetheless, Jumia Travel identifies 5 reasons Nigerians should stop watching the EPL.

The Nigerian League is now exciting and better organized

Since the league management body started managing the Nigerian League, they have made concerted efforts to make the league more exciting and interesting. They have ensured that the stadiums are TV friendly and the players and fans obey rules and regulation. Most importantly, the matches are on Pay TV. This has encouraged players to give out their best and you now see a Nigerian league player scoring a hat-trick.

You get real life stadium experience in the NPFL

To watch a Nigerian League match is very affordable and inexpensive. You don’t have to break the bank. Except you have a deep pocket, you cannot travel the England to watch Arsenal. So, with the NPFL, you can watch Kano Pillars live in Kano or watch Remo Stars in Sagamu. You get the stadium experience.

You can support professionally run private clubs

Unlike in the past when the 20 clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League are government owned, there are now privately owned clubs that are professionally managed. We have The Mountain of Fire Football Club, Ifeanyi Ubah FC, and Remo stars. You can support these clubs because they churn out EPL like football week in, week out.

Nigerian Stadiums are safe

Many Nigerians have the mindset that whenever they visit the stadium, they will be harassed and waylaid. This is in the past. They are now safe because it is now incumbent on clubs to provide security for fans and players alike.

We will support our own

Nigerians don’t seem to support their own. Like they have a knack for foreign products, it is the same for football. Even the Nigerian Super Eagles team is coached by a foreigner. We stop watching the premier league and support the Nigerian league by going to stadiums to watch their favorite Nigerian club.
