1) Right Click on the computer -> properties->Eniroments Variables->Add path. That's what I was trying to recall off the top of my head but couldn't ![]() |
you might want to google for a WP tutorial for this. good luck! |
I have never installed WP but if it is anything like joomla, then chances are you will need to delete, per the "gibberish" message you pasted below, the installation folder in order for the installation to be complete. Others, make una hail o. |
That I don't know but I am sure others may know and want to help. Sorry I couldn't be of further assistance. |
hmm, I still say you are vague, no offense. What is, "ready made website for sale"? I could give you a website with a black background and guess what? It is ready for sale. Of course, the sale terms wouldn't be the same for a site with more features but it is a website ready for sale by my standards. Please b more specific: What kind of site are you looking for? That is one good question for starters. |
I think she's a bot but letz give this thread some more time to see where it goes ![]() |
Insert QuoteI guess the charm will not work cos of the incorrect english ![]() On a serious note, are you sure you are not referring to a web hosting package, as opposed to a website? I mean, a 1gb website would be quite heavy and would probably crash its server, even with one hit. Assuming you mean website, I would imagine you wouldn't expect a facebook-type site to cost you 30K. That would b in the millions. Please verify what you need. Thanks. |
he he ugojamali, good one ![]() |
I am happy you said "people in Nigeria" because it does, IMHO ![]() what is web development technically but software development for the web. Even the wiki, though I wouldn't necessarily regard it as an authority, says as much ![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software For naija, we too dey like title and to dey use title downgrade people unnecessarily. This to me is a defense mechanism to mask something the downgrading party doesn't want others to know. Platform should be no discriminating factor when it comes to programming. |
Akpangbon: I would request you add that this is within your working context as this isn't the case where I am. This will avoid this thread from going (as others have in the past) to 5 pages or more as this is a "sensitive" issue (you can do a search for past threads on this to confirm). In my locale, a web designer has no business even having software other than photoshop and fireworks. If they have say, dreamweaver, it is a special request. Not to talk of database access. At most, a designer (as hired by the company) would know some html, css and * maybe * javascript. As I said, this is a "sensitive" issue so I will stop here. Thanks. |
Maybe it's just me but what I see here is line number (which could mean anything) and no explicit error(s) mentioned. You mind being more explicit? Thanks. |
infinity: good one ![]() hopefully they have someone looking at this forum and will look into it. Many customers these days are turning to youtube and posting videos of their complaints. It's amazing how the internet works! |
no problem. I guess I should stir a few feathers and further add that in the Nigerian context, the term 'web designer' is used to group those who do pretty much everything that pertains to the web whereas those who do say, java programming, are referred to as programmers. I don't belong to this school of thought though. At the end of the day, we are all programmers. I am glad to have been of service ![]() |
yep, u cd do that too ![]() you will probably need to specify a new database, to avoid data corruption, that's about it. |
good job! We need more stuff like this out there. Hopefully, it won't fall victim to our pirate "friends" ![]() |
Borat: It depends on the denomination of the 25billion ![]() |
"lord"? ![]() Anyways, quadrillo is right. Chances are that you have forgotten your password. You will probably need to uninstall joomla, reinstall and start from square one, noting your password this time. good luck! |
You tried google? If yes, you mind pasting your search query? For wordpress, I believe their website (wordpress.org? ) should have something for you. I remember going there earlier this year. There are also tons of tutorials on google (again, paste your search query ) |
Designer typically involves the graphical side (photoshop, fireworks, et al) Developer typically involves taking what a designer has created and using html/css/javascript at the very least (if there is business logic involved, then php, jsp, etc will have to be used to, for example, access a database) to transform the graphics into a website/application. Make sense? |
This might be useful: http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/resources/creating_your_own_search_engine.php3 In the future, learn to use google or any other resource then only post questions if after doing your own research/coding, you get stuck. good luck! |
afam4eva: And what's your point? He needs a testimonial for any Indian company. There might be one of us here who has had the opportunity to study at such a center or who knows someone who did. |
It is possible to get money from google. To date, I have received 2 (in a span of 2 years) and am $70 shy of my next one. IMHO, it is a big deal, no matter the amount, especially considering the poster is based in Nigeria and the fact that we live in a world where many tout "free" things and turn out to be 419ers. |
kok: Please, next time, create a brand new post as opposed to introducing another topic on a thread that is discussing something else, thus causing a distraction. Next time, your off-topic posts will be deleted. Thanks in advance for your co-operation. |
More than likely, you haven't set your classpath correctly. Here is something else you could try: From where you are, type "java -v". This should spit out the version you are using. If this gives an error similar to what you are experiencing now, do a "cd" into the directory where "javac" is then run the command and specify the path to the file. That should do it. While you are at it, you might want to set the classpath via "my computer" on your desktop. Unfortunately I am at work and the admins have blocked access to this and I don't remember how to get to where you need to go off the top of my head. Then again, we have such great nairalanders here that I am sure they will answer you quickly ![]() Let us know how it goes. |
Congrats! As per project, all you need do is take a mental note of everything around you, any time you go out and trust me, the ideas will come ![]() For example, and I am just thinking out loud, you discover that the public trans that you use does not arrive at the time it is supposed to. So maybe you write an app that uses google maps to give you up-to-the-minute info, including pictures and real time info pertaining to speed, location, etc. Such an app could then be accessible via my phone so that I could be checking it out while waiting for the next bus. Again, just thinking out loud. Good luck! |
and that is? ![]() |
internetpro (and to all others who may fall in the same category): I forgot to mention this - Next time, please indent your code. The way you have it up there (and I hope this isn't a reflection of your actual code ), it is very hard to read and follow the logic. You want us to help you. Help speed up the process by making it easier for us to read and follow your code Thanks. |
I think punch finally got it right - I got a punch news feed in my rss reader this morning. Expecting to see the usual, "this is a preview. to view the full article, please log in", I was stunned to see the whole article. I then went to the home page and clicked a few more articles and noticed that I no longer need to log in to read them. Please, if you know those in charge of the site, give them a huge fat kiss for me. Something finally clicked in their heads. Until today, I probably last visited the site 3 months or so ago because of their "new" approach. |
hostmot: hence my 2 links above ![]() |
1) This is how I write my sql insert statements: $result = mysql_query("INSERT into tbl_subscription values (NULL, '$autoAssignedId', '$subscription', '$subscribedItem')" ;NOTE the absence of "." around '$autoAssignedId' (just in case you don't understand, see how you have the "From" written as '".$from." ![]() 2) What has always worked for me and DBs is printing out the value of my statements. Do an echo and exit after the statement to see if you actually have any values. 3) I don't see any checks after you insert like so: if(!$result) return 'Could not pipe into the database at this time. '; Try the above if not already and get back to us. good luck! |
yeah, though I can't speak to the email (it might be related though) what turns me off anytime a client says they have godaddy is that the client thinks they have everything to make their site work only to find out that they have to pay an additional $1.99 to get one thing and another $1.99 to get another. Typical example of reeling in the customer with "cheap" offers. |
