joebeckz: I didn't support Tinubu. But he's preaodentt. I pray for him to flourish cos it affects me if he fails. I am tired of the high cost of living.
That's why I wish anyone in Leadership well. If only more people were this wise. Wishing the president or country evil regardless of your political leanings is equivalent to shooting yourself in the foot. It will come around. Meanwhile, most of those that are quick to condemn the government would do far worse if given the chance. |

One ibo man in my neighbourhood who is late now was building a very massive duplex in my neighbourhood, he came to his site and told workers that he will pay them only 50% of their money each that he was not having enough cash on him that he will be going to UBA bank in the morning to withdraw cash the next day to pay them their balance. And guess what he was shot and killed by robbers on his way from the bank and they went away with his money. WHY BECAUSE HE FOOLISHLY GAVE THE INFORMATION AWAY THE PREVIOUS DAY. Teco2: You're absolutely saying nonsense here; promoting religion agenda unnecessarily. I've been a civil servant for almost ten years now and FG had never paid salaries before Sallah, even when Sallah was celebrated towards end of the month. A good example was the last Sallah that was celebrated on the 28th and salaries were not paid before the celebration. Don't mind the guy, some people are just very divisive, those are the ones the mods need to focus on and ban. |

Harddiskng: Bruh you have no idea.
I can remember going to one part of mainland, there was this particular street that was in between two streets. It was perpendicular to the other two streets forming H.
The residents of the street in their wisdom decided to erect a gate on one side and permanently lock it
So if you follow google map, it would lead you to a locked gate, you then have to follow the street down a longer way before you can see a turning to lead you into the street in question. Very nonsense something.
Biko if you don’t feel safe on your street, move to somewhere else. Stop stressing commuters. It's just very selfish behaviour. They are thinking about just themselves and not about the impact of their actions on others. |

Hopefully, the new nairaland will be a sane place where toxic tribalism will not be enabled and that is what any forward thinking person would aspire to. |
Nairaland General › Re: Nairaland Is Partially Back; A Work In Progress by yewit37486: 1:28pm On Dec 21, 2023 |
Sheggy13: If you did report any kind of tribal abuse, whether it's only those directed at your tribe or any other tribe, then fair play to you. What I have found out is that most Nigerians are hypocrites. They've been celebrating on twitter over Nairaland inacess for the past few days, because to them their tribes or favorite politicians are abused here. Hardcore tribalists for that matter. They don't care about their own tribesmen insulting other tribes. They even laugh over it. If you are an objective person, you would see there was a clear consensus on twitter that the tribalism and bigotry on nairaland needs to END regardless of which tribe it is from. If you equate that to "celebrating on twitter" then you are likely part of the problem. No matter how big the TRUTH is, it needs to be spoken. |

onegig: See why Nigeria can never move forward. We want overseas treatment and services but not pay the basic requirements of us. See all of them making noise about not paying taxes and skimming it and even calling someone who's asking to do the right thing names.
What makes you different from all the politicians stealing? Because not paying your due taxes is actually stealing. Later they would come here frosting in the mouth and shouting that the country is bad without considering the little efforts they carry out in their own personal spaces that continues to damage the country. Taxes are a requirement as a citizen. If you are making money in Nigeria even though remotely you are required to pay taxes. Yes the services aren't optimal but roads(no matter how bad and limited), security are funded from taxes.
Can't wait for FIRS to sit up and start requiring mandatory tax return filings yearly. Tie NIN to Taxes. If you don't file taxes , you can't get any services from government, can't register kids in school, can't apply for passports, can't get mobile services etc.
@op. What you need to pay is the PAYE and would go to your state of residence. Reach out to your State LIRS.
You can calculate estimates using this app. https://ng.talent.com/tax-calculator Couldn't have said it better. Criminal citizens expecting saintly governance. Joke of the century. |

And you know taxing is already on some major online platforms—I think they are the ones to make it well-known...
In the end, each one will receive what they deserve: government or civilian... Kudos OP. Words on marble 👏👏 It's so refreshing to see someone trying to do what is right, something very foreign to a lot of Nigerians, yet they wonder why the country is the way it is. If everyone builds their own portion of the wall aka the Nehemiah principle, the outcome will be a solid wall that will eventually protect everyone. God bless you OP. |

symbianDON: Your experience reminds of a similar awkward experience i had with those 'unpleasant' guys. In my case, I was actually going at a speed of about 100km/hr when I noticed the convoy behind me. There were about 4 vehicles. The first, second and third overtook me successfully but the fourth was clearly struggling to overtake. Immediately I noticed that, I magnanimous slowed down and allowed the vehicle overtake. No issues. After a while, I observed that they had reduced speed to about 70-80km/hr. I then proceeded to overtake them. Mistake! Note that I was driving alone and my glasses are clear; no tints. Omoh! Soon as I began to overtake, the zigzag driving started while they were cocking their guns and pointing them menacingly at me! Shoooo! I quickly give myself sense and ran myself into the bush. I felt shaken and humiliated! They could easily have caused an unnecessary accident. Hahaha! sorry, couldn't help but laugh when I read that line. Thank God you were safe and it ended well. |

Britishpea: You people should always add Nigerian factor to whatever you do. It’d the same Nigerian factor that would make you have an event by 13 and still be on the ondo township road by 11 am. By then you are suppose t be in Akure already even if you are still enroute to the real location. Ondo to Akure no matter how speedy you are u will spend about 45 mins.
How can you overtake a Nigerian police convoy? You don’t even know where they are headed to . Maybe for oversights or something more dangerous or important. What if they think you are an armed robber who’s running to escape or you are a bandit or kidnapper. Che u no come finally late for your launching? You are here asking for a law? To do what exactly? You can’t win them even at the court because there are a million ways to nail you. Some Nigerians en! a law he will quote to them next time, haha. OP, I rejoice with you that it all ended well. |
