Congrats to them both.

Your experience reminds of a similar awkward experience i had with those 'unpleasant' guys. In my case, I was actually going at a speed of about 100km/hr when I noticed the convoy behind me. There were about 4 vehicles. The first, second and third overtook me successfully but the fourth was clearly struggling to overtake. Immediately I noticed that, I magnanimous slowed down and allowed the vehicle overtake. No issues. After a while, I observed that they had reduced speed to about 70-80km/hr. I then proceeded to overtake them. Mistake! Note that I was driving alone and my glasses are clear; no tints. Omoh! Soon as I began to overtake, the zigzag driving started while they were cocking their guns and pointing them menacingly at me! Shoooo! I quickly give myself sense and ran myself into the bush. I felt shaken and humiliated! They could easily have caused an unnecessary accident.
Hahaha! sorry, couldn't help but laugh when I read that line.
Thank God you were safe and it ended well.

You people should always add Nigerian factor to whatever you do. It’d the same Nigerian factor that would make you have an event by 13 and still be on the ondo township road by 11 am. By then you are suppose t be in Akure already even if you are still enroute to the real location. Ondo to Akure no matter how speedy you are u will spend about 45 mins.

How can you overtake a Nigerian police convoy? You don’t even know where they are headed to . Maybe for oversights or something more dangerous or important. What if they think you are an armed robber who’s running to escape or you are a bandit or kidnapper.
Che u no come finally late for your launching? You are here asking for a law? To do what exactly? You can’t win them even at the court because there are a million ways to nail you. Some Nigerians en!
grin grin a law he will quote to them next time, haha.
OP, I rejoice with you that it all ended well.

Despite being the largest economy in Africa, we are barely indebted to IMF. This is impressive. I reckon this was the forex support we got from the IMF during the covid 19 pandemic but today our economy is in surplus and our GDP keeps increasing quarter on quarter.

You have the nerve to say we are "barely indebted" with all the massive debts we've accumulated in recent years and months. And you say this is impressive?!

Next, How exactly is our economy in SURPLUS? How?

YOU and people like you that call black and white and vice versa are the TRUE enemies of this country and your words will be unto you as you have said.

He withdrew N112 million naira cash. Why was such a huge amount needed for budget presentation?

mysterious is something that is difficult or impossible to understand, explain, or identify.

synonyms: puzzling, strange, peculiar, curious, funny, queer, odd, weird, bizarre, mystifying, inexplicable, baffling, perplexing, bewildering, confusing, uncanny, dark, impenetrable, incomprehensible, unexplainable, unfathomable, Delphic, sibylline, unaccountable, insoluble, obscure, arcane, recondite, secret, esoteric, occult, cryptic, hidden, concealed, supernatural, mystical.
But you said being weird is not mysterious. I think you are contradicting yourself.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Mysterious People You Have Met In Life. by yewit37486: 7:22pm On Dec 07, 2023
Adewale1603:
Mysterious is subjective, what might look mysterious to you, might not look mysterious to another person. Most of you here don't really understand or know the meaning of something being mysterious. Being weird, introverted, autistics is not mysterious.
To you, it's not mysterious, whilst to others it could be.

You can't tell us people here don't really understand the meaning of mysterious when you've already said it is subjective.

what cause beating should be addressed. Once you respect a man, he won't beat you. Woman should learn to respect a husband. Whether he's broke or not. Okonjo eweala can't disrespect her husband because she is richer than him or more powerful. That's all
You are clearly talking based on your experience, but remember this, not everything is black and white, some men are frustrated, they start drinking, and out of frustration resort to beating their wives, even without the woman disrespecting him. Regardless, no one has a right to beat or murder another.

hitting her? How are you sure he's hitting her? No evidence. We all know how woman feel like god in UK and forget God instructions of respect your husband. You can see how arrogant she feel by calling cop , if na niaja , will she call cop? Assuming she respect that man, she won't be six feet down though the man should have calm down. Selling his property for his wife to travel abroad not easy. We all know how Nigerian woman be , the man must have sacrifice a lot for the wife to be in UK and he can be with his wife and his wife treating him like shit.
You still did not answer the question o. If a woman's husband is beating her, what do YOU advice her to do?

agba scanner, keep acting like god in UK if you are woman then you meet your match soon. Even the bible ask woman to respect their husband and instruct husband to love their wife but you will be acting like mad woman because you dey oyinvo land.

Respect a man simple as that. The idiot woman start calling cop for her husband, something she can't do in Nigeria. Start raising a shoulder for your own man. Maybe the man sold everything to make sure she travel to UK but you start treating him like trash and you expect him to keep calm and calling cop for him
Your issue seems to be the fact that she called the cops. So, in a case where the husband is hitting or beating her, what would you advice her to do ?

RIP
However what caught my attention was the response time of the police... The deceased called on Monday about an assault, the Police waited till Tuesday to respond... that is unacceptable based on the UK standards
They responded on 27 Nov, it's just not stated in this particular nairaland source.

From SR:
The police added, “On Monday 27th November 2023, Taiwo contacted Suffolk Police reporting an assault by Olubunni on her that day and a further assault from 15th August 2023. Olubunni was arrested on suspicion of both assaults at 10:23am 27/11/2023. He was released from police custody at 6:20pm 27/11/2023 with police bail conditions. The Police Bail conditions imposed were: Not to go to 239 Exning Road, Newmarket, CB9 0AY. Not to contact Taiwo Abodunde directly or indirectly except via a third party to arrange child contact.

UK Police to be blamed for this death.

She called/reported to them on Nov 27 but they came on Nov 28.

1. They should have arrived same day within 20mins of report.
2. They should have removed 1 of the parties from that location that same moment.
3. They should have given forbidden law to get close of 20km from each of the parties.

Lol, that’s how to keep them close enough but keep the necessary distance
I get you now. But why not just cut them off completely. What's the benefit in you still hanging out with such folks?

Humans can be wicked. Some people are naturally envious or never want you better than them. Life to them is competition.
If they get a contract of 500 million and you get a contract of 501 million, they may not be happy.
If their wife give birth to twins and yours give birth to triplet, they are sad.
That’s the nature of some humans

Then some may withhold information from you that they know will help you. They won’t disclose it to you, they won’t share opportunities with you that they know you are qualified for. Beware of such humans, keep them at a distance

Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer
That's contradictory though.

Thanks for pointing that out. So it's flatshare he was bragging about here.

He would still pay for his phone, internet, road tax (if he owns a car) and TV license

Shake my head.
Well, to be fair at least he has a roof over his head and is still able to save something no matter how small afterwards, how many people in Nigeria can say the same in the current economic situation?

TV license is per residence so inclusive in bills. Internet is peanuts, you can get more than enough data for ~£15 on a payg plan. The transport network in London is very good, you can do without a car and still get around.

I think the point still remains that OP's comparison is not only deceitful, it is incorrect.

Because I'm on a higher ground let me just ignore your supposed insults and cut to the case grin

In London which houses are more readily available (vacant) those of £700 or £1,480huh
How far off to city center are the vacant houses of £700??

A house of £700 a month in Nigeria will sound stupid to a worker earning #30,000 per month but pays his own house rent on yearly basis not monthly that the Bobo Londoner has to pay N700,000 per month out of his basic £1,600 per month which is about 44% of the salary whereas a similar house of a 2-room self con in same type of location in Nigeria will cost about 34% of N30,000 over a 12-month period.

We have not factored transportation into the salary yet oh...

Those workers in Nigeria that work on Saturdays earn more than the minimum wage for doing just that working overtime but Bobo Londoner will still get only his £10 for those self-imposed or sapa-imposed weekend and overtime works grin

Why will a £10 an hour worker in London buy a cartoon of chicken can he afford it? I ask you bobo londoner friend grin

Let's be objective about our country we are indeed lucky to be here break yourself from the yoke of abroad is better....Nigeria is more affordable to live in than UK....I talk ham again with facts grin

You have forgotten some of these:

Council Tax
Water Bill
Electricity Bill
Telephone Bill
Television Licence
Internet
Gas
If you have a car - Road Tax
Sky - If you have cable

And you will spend more than 60GBP on feeding in a month.
So, at the end of the day, he does NOT have 730 GBP to save as you claimed.
He said and I quote "You can get a room in London for 600"

For flatshares, almost all those bills you listed are inclusive in the cost of the room, so he is right minus the feeding part.
