The school authority can't rely on the threat or information from the other students, they should've known that such injury is beyond football injury..... I agree. It must have been ongoing, but question is, has it been reported before now? This is one of the questions that would be asked during the ongoing investigation. |

desiredhome: The clux of the matter is the negligence of the school authority and lying that the boy got injured from playing football......... Recall the bullies threatened the other boys in the room. The school authorities might have relied on their (the threatened boys) lies. I am not supporting the management of the school though, but maybe they acted on the first information they got. |

We are all furious but we need to be very objective here, closing down the school would not solve the crux of the matter, which is bullying and cultism in our secondary schools; if it is about closing down schools, then most, if not all the Universities and other higher institutions in Nigeria should be closed.
In my opinion, the culprits should be brought to book, they did the crime, they should also do the time.
Moving forward, the management of the school should show empathy to the family and even offer some form of financial and/or non-financial compensation to them; the school should also swiftly undergo reforms that would eliminate the major issues, this does not mean the school should not be charged with either deliberate or indeliberate negligence as the case may be.
May God grant Sylvester eternal rest. Amen. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: You're Fired If You're On This Call, CEO Lays Off 900 Workers On Zoom Call by Yoighaman(m): 6:00pm On Dec 06, 2021 |
rajiedreez: The CEO of an online mortgage lender fired 900 of his employees in a brutal Zoom call - then slammed them over being so lazy they effectively 'stole' from customers.
Vishal Garg axed around nine per cent of New York mortgage firm Better.com's workforce last Wednesday, including its entire diversity, equity and inclusion team, which deals with complaints about racism and sexism in the workplace.
The blunt call saw Garg say: 'This isn't news that you're going to want to hear...If you're on this call, you are part of the unlucky group that is being laid off. Your employment here is terminated effective immediately.'
Garg, 43, had warned what lay ahead for staff during the three minute call, telling them: 'I come to you with not great news. The market has changed, as you know, and we have to move with it in order to survive so that hopefully, we can continue to thrive and deliver on our mission.
'This isn’t news that you’re going to want to hear. But ultimately it was my decision. And I wanted you to hear from me. It’s been a really, really challenging decision to make.
'This is the second time in my career I’m doing this and I do not do not want to do this. The last time I did it, I cried. This time, I hope to be stronger. We are laying off about 15% of the company for a number of reasons — the market, efficiency and performances and productivity.' A firm spokesman later corrected the boss's figure, and said that the actual proportion of staff who'd been laid off was nine per cent. One axed worker filmed the call and shared it online, complete with a moment where they cursed at Garg, who owns at least $1 billion in equity, as he confirmed the mass lay-offs at Better.com, whose headquarters sits in Manhattan's World Trade Center.
The unidentified male worker could be heard to say 'F**k you dude. Are you f**king kidding me?'
Garg, who is married with children, wielded the ax while blaming market fluctuations, despite a $750 million cash infusion the mortgage company received last week.
But he also hinted at issues with 'performance and productivity,' and uploaded a scathing blog post which saw him lash his staff for being idle.
He wrote: 'You guys know that at least 250 of the people terminated were working an average of 2 hours a day while clocking 8 hours+ a day in the payroll system?'
'They were stealing from you and stealing from our customers who pay the bills that pay our bills. Get educated,' he added.
Garg also said market efficiency, performance, and productivity were to blame for the firings, adding that it was necessary for the company to 'move in order to survive.'
A Better.com spokesman declined to comment further on the mass-firing when approached by TechCrunch, except to correct the percentage of company that had lost their jobs during the meeting.
Better, which is backed by Softbank, received a $750 million cash infusion last week, after announcing in May it was going public through a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC). The company now has a valuation of $7 billion. Correct. I like gutsy leaders. What has to be done must be done, irrespective of whose ox is gored. |

What do you expect when miscreants and thugs give birth to kids they are unable to properly raise, these kids permeate their peers with misconceptions and the spiral effects are what we are seeing even among the rich kids.
This issue has become a societal one and should be taken seriously, otherwise the time bomb would blow up in our faces years to come and we would witness a new wave of violence amongst the youths.
A good example are the Boko Haram folks, we can all see what the kids of yesterday have turned to today.

Investment › Re: Three Reasons Why You Are Always Broke by Yoighaman(m): 10:56am On Dec 04, 2021 |
scotz101: The 3 reasons why YOU are always broke
1. You're saving money instead of investing.
Saving money doesn't make anyone rich, in short the only people who get rich from your savings are the banks.
This is why they charge you for pulling money out and also charge you for saving with them.
The right thing to do is invest. When you have little money, invest in yourself. Take courses and programs that will boost your skills, knowledge and mental prowess.
Education never stops.
When you have a lot of money invest in opportunities as well such as cryptocurrency, stocks and bonds.
Real estate is a surefire way to go. But always start with self investment.
2.You buy liabilities instead of assets.
In Ibadan where I stay a lot of people spend money partying. It's the culture.
People spend money on clothes, shoes and different stuff that they don't really need.
To achieve a life of financial freedom some part of your money should be spent on buying assets instead of liabilities.
Assets are what will fund your dreams. Liabilities make you feel good but they do not in any way contribute to your dreams.
Make it a habit to spend more on assets.
3. You have only one source of Income
This is the biggest reason why most people are broke.
They rely on only one source of money and when that source dries up they already in deep problem.
It is said that the average millionaire has about 7 streams of income. While this isn't true for everyone,
Most millionaires will have between 3 to 5.
If you want to have financial freedom, learn to develop other sources of income. Nice post. Thanks for sharing. |

Romance › Re: Always Investigate Your Girlfriend's Ex Before Marriage by Yoighaman(m): 8:03pm On Dec 02, 2021 |
CandyOps: Another thread for superstitious folks. A thread for people wey there brain no dey function well because spiritual matter done take up memory space
Imagine this unfortunate spineless man blaming his wife for his misfortunes in business and life in general without even pointing fingers to the main cause- himself.
Nothing dey vex me like when adult go blame spirit for him misfortunes and bad luck because him no say spirit no fit talk or defend themselves. So instead of taking responsibility and handling his finances like a man him go rather blame juju.
Religion is wrecking havoc on us. No where in this long post did the OP ask the man how he spends his money and how much he makes... No financial responsibility whatsoever recorded.
I've gone from earning 2m monthly to zero. I was suicidal. Started doing weed and ashawos just to take my mind off things.
But it only gave me temporal relief till I took the bull by the horns and tackled my demons head-on. The more Africans and Nigerians keep relying on spirits for something as simple as a financial growth the more we sink into backwardness and rot.
Religion done kill our willpower and thought process. Na why one old hag of man or woman go tie red cloth or hold Bible do small acting for una tell una say una wahala na spiritual una go believe because we are too weak to hold ourselves responsible.
Weak spineless men wey no sabi their roots everywhere. I just feel complete utter disgust for this fellow not because he is lost but because he doesn't even know how far lost he is.
Money/income does not have a spiritual connection. If it does Nigeria would be the richest country on Earth. Right diagnosis is half the cure.
Why on earth will a man in his right senses consult a witch doctor or a priest for financial advice when we have people who's actual job is Financial Accounting??
It's like having the manager of a football club consult a DJ for technical advice on how to win the football league.. its all shades of wrong and makes no sense...
Yet we do this every single day and expect some kind of magic to happen. Sometimes I'm forced to think we aren't ready for any real change in Nigeria and Africa but then I understand the bigger picture -- keep them illiterates, uneducated, religious and divided. So the looting and syphoning of our nations wealth will keep on.
No wonder Boko Haram agenda na to kill education in it's totality. This country is already boiling over. Those kids born without proper education in the North years back are all doing big business as Kidnappers and bandits today
Na them de influence the elections and political decisions of this country. Yet una still dey fuel superstition and backward religious beliefs over free-thinking, understanding the importance and capabilities of the human brain when fully empowered. .
.this continent (not just the country) is completely exhausting. Nothing is structured to help you evolve and grow. Nice post. The major problem is that people have taken religion and spirituality too far. |
