PoliticsRe: Senator Akinyelure Denies Voting For Under-age Marriage by YoshiMaster: 1:35am On Jul 23, 2013
naptu2: Some have said that the ambiguity in section 4b could lead to the legalisation of marriages of people under the age of 18. However, others argue that it won't because, according to the Child Rights Act, it is illegal to marry anyone below the age of 18. The marriage would be illegal at the time it is being contracted, while section 4b deals with a woman that is already married. But note that the Child Rights Act has only been domesticated in 24 states.
So in essence what you are saying is that all states need to adopt the Child Rights Act.

So once that is adopted, the age associated with subsection 4b should automatically become 18 years right?

Any idea of the hold up in all states adopting this Child Rights Act?
PoliticsRe: Senator Akinyelure Denies Voting For Under-age Marriage by YoshiMaster: 1:22am On Jul 23, 2013
T8ksy: On another thread where yerima was defending his marriage to a 13yr old, he clearly stated that his

Islamic Law takes precedence over the country's constitution and yet he's a senator of Nigeria and a nigerian......
Mind boggling, I tell ya!

Like seriously, I'm not gonna hate on any religion, but religious Laws should not be superimposed on the general population, or used as justification for formulating any bill.
PoliticsRe: Senator Akinyelure Denies Voting For Under-age Marriage by YoshiMaster:
So why did that Yerima guy make some speech on the floor, saying that to go against that would be to go against Islamic Law?

In using Islamic law as reasoning behind any law, doesn't that conflict with the whole idea of Nigeria being a secular state?

How does an underage girl get married in the first place? Then once she is married, she automatically becomes "of age"?

Also in his response to his critics, he mentioned that he too could give out his kid daughter.

I'm not a Lawyer, so I wouldn't mind if anyone takes me to school on these questions raised. Just trying to fit the pieces together.

CelebritiesRe: Stella Damasus On 'Child Marriage' Bill! by YoshiMaster: 5:03pm On Jul 22, 2013
Fadelex: whenever an issue is mis-interpreted everybody wil be spilling what they dont know, the bill does not even legalize under-age marriage, the section amended was 29 sub-section 4b which
states "any woman who is married shall be deemed to be of
full age"
in reference to section 29 sub-section 1 which states
that "any Nigerian of full age and wishes to renounce his/her
citizenship shall make a declaration in the prescribed manner
for d renunciation".. meaning if a 13year old girl that is
married wishes to renounce her citizenship, she's free to do
that...the reason been that 18 is the age believed to be of full
age in Nigeria. the problem with most of our people is that
they only do copy and paste without having full knowledge of
d situation... I'm not a lawyer but I'm literate enough to
understand d constitution and being an immigration
personnel I did a lot of work on citizenship
I do not want to confuse the issue, as I may also be mistaken.

Regarding the bold part of your text, I want to ask, how would an underage girl get married in the first place, only for her to then be deemed "of age" as soon as she gets married?

Secondly, Yerima based his reasoning on Islamic Law, clearly stating that to go against this would be to go against Islamic Law. Keep in mind that Nigeria is a secular state, so by that logic alone, using religion as backing is already flawed.

Lastly, I read the response from the same guy saying he had no problem giving away his kid daughter.

So one can only conclude that they passed this bill to some how be able to twist its implementation in the future to suit their desires, even though as you claim, it might be intended for something else.

kimco: God i wish i enjoyed it as much as you guys. But i just can't bring myself to...i have tried.
Really doesn't matter, I too am a super fan of MK and street fighter, but that is more due to that fact that I like there "special" moves.

I grew up hearing the sounds of the "Hadoken", and every time I perform one in game till date, I get this nostalgic feeling. Same thing with sub-zeros freeze, and of course scorpions popular "Get Over Here" spear move.

Tekken is just a bit less limited, but of course to each their own.

Kaycee7: Just why I love it. The only other game to compete with it in terms of mechanics is Virtua Fighter.
Yeah it definitely is badda.ss, I always tell my friends, in a real fight (lol, as if I'm gonna be fighting anybody like that) you have numerous options, your body can't be limited to one hadoken, one shoryuken, one spinning leg move, and basic punches and kicks.

In a real fight you gotta employ a lot of techniques, and to me that's what tekken provides.

Take Yoshimitsu for instance, he has a meditation move where he heals himself, you gotta love that. So what that means is a smart Yoshimitsu player can not only switch between the offensive and defensive, but he can look for an opportunity to go into meditation mode, probably after going on a very heavy offensive to buy himself some time while his opponent has been floored.

Check out the fluidity in the tekken mechanics. I mean you can side step, evade, escape grabs, roll, roll to the side, roll forward, roll back, run forward, somersault back, parry blows...

I mean this game is just beyond insane.

Nairaland GeneralRe: Have You Ever Given Or Received Bribe? by YoshiMaster: 5:14pm On Jul 20, 2013
Yeah I have, but I always feel good when I don't when being coerced to do so.

One example, I was at the airport with my mum, and we were going to travel with extra cargo. The extra cargo, was a box full of boxed juices that we wanted to ship with us.

The customs guys were making a fuss about it, and I was like it is not illegal so why all the fuss? Anywho, the custom guy then tells me to enter a special room with him.

Keep in mind I was already super duper determined not to pay a dime to anybody that day, so I was mean mugging, with a stone cold grin on my face.

The guy then starts to ask me, "so how much do you love your mum?", I was like what?

He said again, "do you love your mum? Maybe we can help you guys to transport the goods".

To which I responded, "my guy, abeg its one of two things, either its allowed and you carry it on the plane, or it isn't and we take it back home, but I'm not paying you shit".

The guy was shocked and saddened at the same time, he then took me back to the check-in counter and told them to allow the cargo on the plane.

Sadly though my Mum still tipped him, lol.

Anywho, I think little by little we can all learn not to give bribe in order to get things done.

Jeezuzpick: Why are we even asking about MW produced?

Are we saying if the MW produced is less than, say, 500MW, then the said waste is better left on the streets?

What ever happened to "killing two birds with the same stone"?
Of course it is a laudable project, I don't think anyone here is contesting that.

Its just that the whole point of doing an analysis, is to hopefully arrive at a conclusion, which in this case would be potential generating capacity.

What if you and I were investors in this project, don't you think we would want to know the generating capacity, in order to evaluate the amount of time it would take to recoup capital expenditure?

All I'm saying is that dude just asked a simple question, not worthy of all this persecution.

Dude, you know that coal is the base source of energy for so many countries right? I learnt that in my Power Class.

Secondly, he just simply asked a question, and posed that the report is incomplete due to the fact the key information needed in the report (Power Generation Potential) is missing.

Wouldn't it have been better to direct him to source information, instead of attacking the opposition impulsively like that.

In this instance though, Sincere kinda made a good point.

Projects like these should be showcased with details of potential generating capacity at least.

Not knocking the project though, but we shouldn't just criticize blindly.

Common people, it's Tekken all the way.

Tekken is just too technical men, keeps your opponents guessing.

Still a fan of MK and the rest, but those games just provide you basic moves, where as with Tekken, you really feel the fight come to life because of the many, many moves at your disposal.

BTW, you can get your games from:
