Seun should quickly make me ambassador of nairaland.

I will accept $100,000, and in cash please, don't want to experience bounced checks again.

Seun, are you hearing me? I already have my white tee, with naira logo, ready to go.
Nairaland GeneralRe: What Percent Of Your Income Do You Save Monthly? by YoshiMaster: 1:33pm On Aug 20, 2013
On a regular day, 25% is fine.

However, when u earn 18k min wage in Nigeria, and have to spend 500 naira a day for transport only, leaving about 6k behind, the math starts getting a bit fuzzy.

okpara ugo: So 40,000 is too small for the least paid in the force admitted on SSCE. Okay, i know some university graduates earning 10,000 on teaching jobs.

How about that ? My dear, do you free armed robbers based on excuses of extreme poverty or devil tempting their hungry stomach. When one extorts money at gun point from a victim. What is it called huh

A corrupt person is a corrupt person. And there is no excuse for a crime.
40,000 is too small for police, bottom line.
Christianity EtcRe: What's This You Will Never Die Prayer? by YoshiMaster: 2:42pm On Aug 19, 2013
Smartie gurl: Hmmm! Is just confusing how some pastors will preach that one day we will all die and yet still shout the prayers of ''you shall not die'' ''you will live an eternal life'' and stuffs like that.

I marvel when they pray such prayers, i believe God gives life and as well takes it back, and they even preach and tell us the same. Or do you think otherwisehuh
I don't understand your post, we will live forever in the new kingdom.

Unless you meant he said we shall not die in this world, but I don't think any pastor would preach that.

Ileke-IdI:
Nigeria’s electricity-generation capacity is expected to rise to 6,939 megawatts by April and 14,019 megawatts by December 2013, the presidency said today, without saying what current output is.
Can you imagine such BS, 14,019 Megawatts by December 2013, lol.

Can't these guys in government ever keep their promises.
PoliticsRe: IFC To Facilitate Additional 1500 MW To National Grid by YoshiMaster: 10:14pm On Aug 18, 2013
Although if the generation aspect of power has been unbundled and the market open to all investors, then building a power station will be a very smart investment for any individual that can secure a loan, or has the cash.

If I had the money, I would power up a small city like Festac Town, or Satellite Town. Don't think those places require more than 10MW to have uninterrupted power supply.

@OP, I didn't even read your post.

I feel like if I do, I would feel like smashing my computer again, can't keep replacing them.

What do we do? How do we do it? What are the steps? We need answers baby, we need solutions.

I almost feel like the whole of Nigeria has to come together and have a meeting, yeah, I think its that bad.

I would probably settle for 100,000 Nigerians coming together to say enough, and demand for accountability.

How do we get these 100,000 people on the same page though? Without some V for Vendetta type Shhh!

rosebowl01: By insult, and calling people names, I directly and indirectly said "some Ibos", and my grudge with him is his one-sided view of which people are guilty of it. He also came reeling out names of 90% of people from his village that are supposedly buying up the new project. What do you think is the point he's trying to make with that list? What is wrong is WRONG! regardless of the direction that it is coming from. You can't just choose side because it is convenient for you.
Fashola gets his props, for creating the enabling environment for this project, and if they are able to complete it, then posterity will forever remember him fondly.

However it is still a business, which I thought was the point he was trying to make. In that case property would be rented or sold to people who can afford it, be they Americans, British, Nigerians (Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa..) and so on.

These comments below from mostly Americans about this project says a lot about perceptions and narrow-mindedness. This is perhaps the reason why we African must eschew disunity and act with the knowledge that nobody is going to give us a chance.

1)Bill Hefner
Geez. and real estate development wasn't already risky enough. Now add Nigerians (the most corrupt people on earth), affiliations with Bill Clinton and the Vatican, Russian financiers, misplaced pricey-condos-in-poverty-stricken-population marketing strategies, on and on. Why not just install Bernie Madoff as CFO...

2)Dean Warren
Wow, I Bet Those Rich People in Nigeria Could Use Some New Power Plants! How About We Borrow a Bunch of Money, Increase the National Debt, and Build Them Some? Sounds Like a Great Idea, Doesn't It?

3)David Peterson
Africa has tremendous potential, but there are a lot of problems to overcome in order to tap that potential. I'm not sure this idea gets them any closer. What they really need is political stability and law and order. The United States is pretty much the epitomy of both, and could do a lot to make headway in Africa, yet our leaders seem only luke warm toward Africa. When they do make overtures, it mainly takes the form of charity and money, which is not what Africa needs.

4)John Murray
Just concluded a 3 year gig in Lagos. Used to go running along Bar Beach most Saturday mornings. Stunning what they are doing there. Africa/Nigeria is being colonized by Lebanese, Chinese, Indians and an occasional Brit/Euro. Americans are only there for the oil. A truly global frontier town. A bunch of cowboys, not too many sheriffs. It's a fascinating place.
Would compare it to Lower NYC/East London in the late 1800's. Dirty, nasty but it represents opportunity for the non-established people of the world. Just like the western hemisphere did 200 hundred years ago.

5)Oleg Drut
I wonder where they will find work force to complete this project? ship them from China or India?

6)Trevor Sutherland
Last month Tony Blair remarked how the African continent was "poised to be the great economic story of the 21st century". Trillions in untapped resources, land as fertile as any on Earth, and FINALLY, countries are starting to recover from the European exploitation. They just better be careful not to allow Chinese exploitation, and, if history is any guide, they better keep a close eye on the Arabs. In 1950, products made in Japan were considered junk; by 1980, they were the standard of the world. Remember when Hyundai was a punch line? Not anymore. In 2070 my grandkids will be turning up their noses at American made cars because they think cars made in Nigeria are better....LOL...
Is this real? If it is, then I am pissed.

rosebowl01: E tire me my brother. I'm very objective with my opinion and would not deny seeing Yorubas attacking and calling Ibos names. I do not like it, I think it's wrong either way, but what do you do when you're being called names, and are expected not to respond due to the fear of being labelled "a bigot"? What do you do when a man comes to live around you in search of a better life, then turns around and starts telling you that he's your lord now, and that he's superior to everyone else in Nigeria?
When did that dude ever insult anyone on this thread? I am still searching.

Kairoseki77: You were chanting Africa, Africa, Africa!

But as soon as someone says that a Yoruba built it, you say it's all owned by foreign multinationals and some Igbos! Mtcheew!

You are now claiming to be an Edo man. Claiming and claiming all manner of absurdities. Stop laying claim to other people's things and face your own region.
Isn't it the pride of Africa, or should I say, the pride of Nigeria?
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Sells Newly Built Power-Plants To Private Investors. by YoshiMaster: 3:18pm On Aug 16, 2013
Does this mean that a private investor can now invest in power in Nigeria?

I mean, if I wanted to build a power station now, can I do so?

That would be a very good investment.
PoliticsRe: There Will Never Be A Revolution In Nigeria by YoshiMaster:
I was feeling your write up until you started stereotyping each tribe. In doing such, you create a further barrier to we Nigerians coming together collectively.

You say, the Yoruba man is this, the Igbo man is that, the Hausa man will do this and that.

I truly hope that this does not categorize Nigerians in general, with their personalities limited, or already defined for them, based on their tribe.

When a thief gets beaten in public in the menacing act of jungle justice, do you think the people in the crowd are asking themselves, "What tribe are you from?", or do you think they are asking the thief "What tribe are you from?".

My answer would be no.

In that instance they are united, although in a barbaric act, they are united nonetheless in their quest to punish the thief.

In such a way, I believe Nigerians would be united in their displeasure of the state of things, and take a unified stance should there be a revolution "spark" that sets things off.

PoliticsRe: Many Policemen Are Armed Robbers, Gun Dealers – AIG by YoshiMaster: 4:33pm On Aug 15, 2013
Mr. Johnson, you have stated the obvious, but I commend you for taking a stand against malpractices by the Nigerian Police Force.

You said, "If you investigate our men, you will discover...", and I ask why if?

Why shouldn't there be a basic investigation of persons being admitted into the Police Force.

I remember seeing here on nairaland, an episode of police extortion that was caught by someones hidden camera in his car. It was later discovered that the Police Officer in the video, didn't even bear his real name.

When I think of a database, the first practical examples that jump into my mind are always, Immigration Database, Web Database, and Police Database. That just goes to show, I feel it is a given that such entities, i.e, Immigration, Web, Police have Databases to be able to organize their information, and function properly.

However, when you visit the nearest Nigerian police station, which is completely devoid of any technology, one starts to wonder how they carry about successful investigations.

Mr. Johnson, truth be told, any government that is serious about police would have to revolutionize the system, and be committed to it, almost like starting afresh.

lastpage: I agree with you 101%.

But the irony is that 90% of Nigerian roads dont have ANY FORM OF MARKINGS! angry angry wink

Its such an important part of roads you would think that Govt would make it mandatory for any road construction company.

Fashola has tried in this regards, with respect to roads he has constructed but l want to plead with him to engage "reputable companys", define standards for them and let them go about "putting markings on ALL Lagos roads".

Road markings are not just done with "white Oiyel Paint" (as done in Lagos), the markings are cement-impregnated paints ...and should last very long!

Ekoo oni'baje O! shocked shocked
Lastpage!
Thank you very much, we need people like you for the future of Nigeria to be bright.

I see no reason why all roads shouldn't have road markings to promote saner driving.

With regards to Oga Fash, as you said all the new roads constructed by him have perfect road markings. I just wish he would extend that to every single road, both existing and new.

victorazy: Yes bros!
Just as I said that there are 3 diff ways I can achive that.
You know dis ppl can not expose the main secrete of this invention but my I dea is that they used the priciple of "Induce Current Tranformer" in physics where current can travel from one coil to another "Primary coil & Secondry coil" without any direct contact and can not shock "that's why radio tranformers' outlet wire doesn't shock". The primary coil could be burried beneath the aslphalt bein powered from the detignated stations while the other coil "Secondry coil" will be placed under the vehicle seperated with Special Alsphalt (may have tiny holes to allow free flow of magnetic force between the two coils). The vehicle will noth be charging while at a still state they mean is that their may be a Parforated Magnetic Alsphalt Track (PMAT) in the middle of the road because ur on motion traveling but u go off charging when ur off the PMAT "park" but charge in the battery will be sufficient enuf to get u back to the PMAT. LET ME COME UP WITH THE DWG
Nice breakdown, I feel like I'm in my Electromagnetics class all over again.
Science/TechnologyRe: Korea Constructs Road That Wirelessly Charges Moving Electric Buses by YoshiMaster: 5:55pm On Aug 14, 2013
victorazy: Bros there is nothing like "Electric road" for safety but just a coil attached to the wheel. series of wires being magnetized by another coil to induce curent and the current sent back to the battery (is very simple cuz I'v don it b4).
I thought the article said the road was constructed with special cabling to allow for charging the batteries when the vehicles are in motion on the roads.

Immune#1:
Swaying Jumbos: These drivers find it really difficult to maintain a steady drive on a straight path. It might not necessarily reflect driver inexperience because in most cases, it may be due to bad suspension systems and/or poorly aligned vehicles.
These are the worst, I don't mind if you are going to drive fast, but do so in your own lane.

Nigerians hardly respect the sanctity(so to speak) of lanes.

Being in your own lane should give you a sense of security when driving by other vehicles, knowing that nobody is going to suddenly converge in on your lane.

Staying in your lane, and using your signal to get out if need be, should be enforced in Nigeria.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Fan Jailed For Hugging Cristiano Ronaldo by YoshiMaster:
Goal.com:

The fan who was jailed for invading the pitch during the International Champions Cup match between Real Madrid and Chelsea to hug Cristiano Ronaldo last week has stressed that he has no regrets over his actions.
I am sure if it was Naija police guarding at such an important game, the policy for any fan that decides to "invade" the pitch, would be Shoot on Sight!

"Quick, shoot am, shoot am, before in reach Ronaldo."
