My rant today is directed at Civil Engineers who think making roads with open drainage is acceptable by todays world standard. Even as far as Togo and Benin that is just a stone throw away from us, Their drainage is being closed up with concrete that serves as a walkway and can be dissembled unit by unit if there is need for it. Sometimes i am confused as to how we can overvalue properties in our city centers running into millions of Naira and the best we can come up with is roads with open smelly gutters, i have travelled to a few countries and i don't see where this is being practiced and i consider this as "third world infrastructure" at best. Whilst i understand that road infrastructure projects cost $$$, it is also imperative that we need to make futuristic and visually appealing infrastructure to sell Nigeria to the world. Part of the problems affecting Lagos is that there isn't even walkable path on our streets. While i do not completely blame govt for this, we need to standardize certain things. Take a look at the highway from Ikorodu highway the bus top that is, there was a walk way from the bustop up until Haruna but if you look at what has become of it a lot of petty traders have turned it to a market stall on display thereby pushing people away into the express, i understand that low income traders have to eke out a living there is also an enforcement issue lacking on the path of paramilitary officers like "KAI" who have to make sure the purpose of walk paths are enforced. If you take another look at recent road construction happening around Lagos precisely one happening in Gbagada, Bariga expressway they literally interlocked the road which is somewhat commendable but pushed people away from having walk paths but rather open gutters, i find this irksome and our civil engineers should do better. Even countries are having bicycle paths to ease the effect of so many cars on the road and bring a bit of dynamism our road routes. You may ask yourselves, i mean it is just walk paths "Kini big deal?" but if you look at how many times we have been unfortunate to brush against incoming cars that steer wrongly at our directions or Okada that brush people off the road causing accidents and injuries you would see that one cannot ignore the fact that we have to make policy changes that charges govt to approve for construction of roads in city centers that are equipped with walk paths as against open gutter with pako crossing. -A concerned Nigerian, and i just want to make common sense. |
gabicon:Very apt, Nigeria's tech industry is mostly streamlined into Fintech companies with them trying to get their share into the "Unbanked". Take a look at City centers like Lagos for example, if you hand over #1k to a bus conductor he will tell you that he dosen't have change. We should have tech folks look into that area that should make payment of bus fares very fast and flexible. From there we can draw comprehensive data on how many people are plying xyz routes. |
You cant blame Nigerian telcos Nigeria is the only place where you use diesel to power telecoms facilities 24/7 365days in a year where would they write the cost too hence the cost of data. Normally a populated countries like India, China usually have cheap internet. |
harveyosho1:Even aside that gann what if the guy in quesyion use am blackmail am or the husband wan run for political position and they use it to blackmail him for money or to drop the ambition People evil oo and it is expected that our Young women learn do and donts expected of a relationship. |

adonainana:During the lockdown's was watching videos on YouTube about folks who owe money to debt collectors and them getting harrsassed with court papers and often times getting locked out of their houses. And sometimes these are proffesionals and business owners and this cuts across all races. You could get them come to your house and they ask you to pay 5k pounds which is a fraction of your debt or you get your car repossed and you literally have people tell the officers that i dont have up to that some of them in tears. You haven't even covered folks on Universal credit, some of them not disabled but the odds are staked against them "life". Europe needs to get back and start manufacturing and devalue that their overpriced Pounds sterling. Take a look at what is happening in Italy, Greece, Romania and the rest... A lot of their yoots are leaving in drooves because they system is failing them. I love the fact that you are painting a very lucid reality to the youths about to sojourn to the abroad so they can have a worse case scenario on what to expect from there. The key to it is having a plan, a side hustle and cutting cost. You cant give your productive life to the system and looking back can't have anything to show for it. |
Barims:https://www.algonquincollege.com/ro/pay/fee-estimator/?campus=ALL&startterm=2021F&residency=international&programFees=0522X01FWO#programDetail You can even use this to Japa and fees are affordable. Plumbers abroad make good money you know and the jobs are always in demand all season. |
Sometimes you help but ask if Nigeria is a serious nation. Exports that we ought to be putting so much seriousness into to help us earn foreign exchange and help stabilize the currency and build wealth is what we are acting rather sloppy with. |
That's her business, there are more pressing issues in Nigeria abeg. |
balingaonline:Dangote calls them Greedy regulators. They wake up one day and call rates and dues without considering the cost on business and if it is profitable for the business owner. |
My talked about this just last week. |
Babalola0920:Nigeria? |
Greenarrow01:Beside Intl breweries, not so far from the Inter change, there is a farming community there where they plant Cassava, Yam, Corn as well as some Oil Palm. From what i could observe, i wasn't able to spot any activites of Herdsmen there but i am sure if you get there you can ask people familiar with the terrain. I choose not to use the place for beekeeping primarily because there were a few real estate companies springing up here and there. But it is still a farming community. |
even your affiliate is a scam. |
The level of indecent dressing in this generation most especially among women is worrying, they would put on skirts and shorts so short. |
Greenarrow01:For sale one bloke told me 200k. I am thinking of going with it if i cant get any other good options because i want to plant sunflower and other exotic flowers to add to the forage my bees would work on. |
Greenarrow01:Tbh that was how much was quoted for me. i wanted to put my beehives there but i changed my mind because the place has security issues. |
Greenarrow01:I believe around 20k per acre i guess. But even the villages are fronting now as a lot of them are selling their lands to Estate developers. |
honifome:How i wish you are in Abeokuta Problem is getting land for my second hive all the villages heads are just using one to catch cruise and there isnt enough beekeepers willing to teach or help troubleshoot with any random issues that may arise. |
love has an expiry date, woman can love you with all her heart and wake up one day and say she dosen't love you like that anymore. |
Once you climb the status of an economic well doer in your community, you have expectations and responsibilities tabled right at your front. A lot of us grew up in communities where we had to crowd source for hospital bills, school fees and money for everday living from families and people around. While it is sometimes hard saying "NO" to these people sometimes even if you give a neutral sounding answer; i will see what i can do, it still wouldn't absolve you of the fact that these people are awaiting for contributions from your end. The economic crisis that gripped us in 2015 till date has left many people slipping into poverty and it has also brought up a few well doers, but like they say, "a rich man in the midst of poor people is still a poor person''. Sometimes you get calls from people who you would least expect wanting to lend a few monies from you with the hope to pay back at a latter date but that's another story for another day. This could also be one of the reasons why loan shark companies have been basking in people misery charging high interest rate when it is hard meeting up. On the flipside, a lot of people who are bamboozled with so many financial request here and there don't have a vault of unlimited of resources to go around tendering to everyone's need. Sometimes, it can only go around helping a few people at a time. And even when you say "NO" how dare you say no? The late music mastero "Sikiru Ayinde Barrister" talked about this in one of his songs "Reality" where he said that people who you used to help before or give in bit could in turn call you a selfish or self centered person forgetting that it was that person who gave when he had in abundance. As much as you may be moved to be generous towards peoples plight giving and helping people with money and financial resoruces without expecting anything in return sometimes you may even forget to even spoil yourself and consider yourself as priority sometimes. People deserve a break too. One of the best proven way we can lift each other economically is through group economics and taking good use of potentials available in our community. This in anyway shouldn't deter people from lending a hand while building your financial arsenal in your productive years but sometimes try and cut yourself some slack. |
Tolzy11:I did and i stand by my opinion. |
Hookup culture is never a good thing to look forward to. |
biosepeter1:Any other brand aside HP, HP computers are known to break down easily. |
The dating scene in Nigeria sucks to be honest, everything is centered around how much money they think they can scheme off you before they can give you an answer. |
Your fan is bad, or better still open it up and clean it Next time don't buy HP |
