Yes, 1914 should be remembered as the year Lord Lugard formed what is today known as Nigeria. Do you think it is a regrettable thing or a bad thing by Lugard almagamating the north and the south together to form Nigeria?? |
alexj:i have asked that same question, but all the answers i get from some so-called christians is that God just allowed it to happen. |
Goto computer village in ikeja you will surely get it there. |
No presidential aspirant is better than Buhari for now. He is discipline and has high integrity. |
Don't mind Lateef Adegbite, let him continue to follow sultan and emirs to criticize what the don't even know. Is Arabic the official language in nigeria?? |
May God help nigeria. Scrapping polytechnics and HND will not solve nigeria's problems, it will only worsen it. Our policy makers are something else. Can nigeria ever be an industrialized nation with out Technical education?? |
abdkabir:How can someone refer to humanbeings as cows?? Simply because northerners rear cows abi?? Northerners too refer to southerners as pigs because they rear pigs and eat pork; or lets put it this way, because southerners behave like pigs. Simple!! |
In Engineering we have Engineering Technicians, Engineering Technologists and Engineers.Technicians and Technologists are trained in the polytechnicsand awarded National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) respectively, while Engineers are trained in the universities and awarded BEng Degrees. With the recent plans by government to scrap HND programs and polytechnic system in Nigeria, what will happen to the Engineering technologists that are also needed in the field of Engineering?? Going by the recent plans to merge polytechnics with universities a vacuum will obviously be created, that is there would be no Technologists in the Engineering system again, everyone will become an Engineer with a BEng Degree, although they said ND programs for Technicians will still be allowed to continue but HND programs for Technologists will be abolished. Is it possible for Engineering projects to be carried out and completed without Technologists?? Don't you think this will have a negative effect in a country like Nigeria that is still trying to catch up in Engineering and Technology?? |
Why do most employers in Nigeria employ university graduates as full staff while polytechnic graduates are employed as contract staff and are made to do the same work, sometimes more work are given to them to do than the university graduates?? If the polytechnic graduates were not good they should not be employed in the first place rather than employing them, giving them more work to do and paying them less than their university counterparts. What is your view about this situation?? |
davidylan:Some of them are here on nairaland. They can't defend their 1st class and 2.1 degrees. |
stanech:And southerners are PIGS, because they behave like PIGS too. |
babasin:Yes o, (2.8 billion naira oil money is missing X2), dem set up enquiry dem say money no lost yo, dem dabaru everybody, supervisor obasanjo, dem say make him no talk yo, money no lost dem shout again enquiry come close yoooo!! (e no finish, X6) kparanran. Election story nko?? Obasanjo plan am well well, him take old politicians wey rule nigeria before; the same old politicians wey spoil Nigeria before; Obasanjo carry all of dem, all of dem dey there now; (e no finish, X6) kparanran!!! All na ARMY ARRANGEMENT |
Hey, I'm a Mathematician and I'm into FORTRAN programming; FORTRAN 2003 (with OOP features) not FORTRAN 77 oohh!!. |
how soon do they want to do the employment?? |
Na wa o; where you from get these figures?? Don't cause confusion in Nigeria o. |
Wumine:Thank God you called him a Rastafarai Prophet. All Prophets must not be Biblical Prophets. Prophet Mohammed is a Prophet but his name is not mentioned in the Bible, does that mean he is not a Prophet?? He is an Islamic prophet; and Bob marley is a Prophet of Jah Rastafarai too. |
ichuks:Yes, you can get a job in the bank with P7 in maths. I know of one or two persons with P7 and P8 working with some banks in Nigeria ( I mean one of 1st four banks in nigeria). But to be on the safer side just sit for WAEC again and make a Credit even if it is C6. All the best!! |
Nigeria is a country where people forget about their initial profession and jump into other professions just to make money. Some Doctors work in banks, chemists, quantity surveyors, engineers, physicists etc. work in banks as tellers. Tellering job can be done by even secondary school leavers. Is there anything professional about tellering? Why should people or professionals abandon their chosen careers to do the job of a teller?? Nigerians should wake up o. |
The mistake nigeria and nigerians are making is the preference given to university education when truely polytechnic education is the type of education that can be used to develop a nation technologically. What have the universities done to move the country technologically since the inception of the 1st university?? The polytechnics are even doing better because despite the meagre funds given to them against the huge funds given to the universities they have been able to carrying out research and make improvements on certain things as well as technology. What do you think polytechnics would have done if they were given the same funds as the universities?? Please polytechnics should be allowed to exist so that we will not have a dearth of middle level technicians and highly skilled technologists in the country. Merging polytechnics with universities is not going to be in the best interest of this nation and our educational policy makers should sit down and think very well on how to improve technical and technological education. |
HND-holder, recently it was agreed that polytechnics and NBTE should not transact any business with banks like GTB, Diamond, Access, Zenith, STB (now UBA) that discriminate against polytechnic HND holders. Is this crusade still going on?? Also help us find out from Dr Nuru Yakubu because some polytechnics still do very big transactions with some of these banks that enslave polytechnic HND graduates and pay them pea-nut while university Bsc graduates are being paid 4 times the HND graduate salary. I learnt there is a mega project now in Nigeria called UNESCO-NBTE (revitalization of technical and vocational education in Nigeria), and obviously there is big money to carryout this project, and an account must be opened. Hope it will not be opened in any of those banks that discriminate against HND holders?? Because right now most of these banks are already going to meet UNESCO-NBTE trying to convince them to come and open the account with them. Let the account be opened in a bank that employs HND graduates and give them the same status as Bsc holders. Banks like 1st bank, union bank, intercontinental bank and FCMB are qualified. Please follow up this for us and make sure the wrong bank does not get this right account. Thank you. |
bisiofgod:You people keep asking HND holders to upgrade or update themselves; are you saying HND graduates do not know what the Bsc guys know or what?? Is it not possible too for the HND guys to know somethings that the Bsc guys do not know?? And yet no body has ever asked the university guys to go update or upgrade themselves to know what the HND guys know that they don't know. Or is it that Bsc curriculum was designed such that they will know everything and the HND curriculum was also designed for HND guys not to know everything?? I need an urgent answer please. |
Please help us ask Dr Nura Yakuba why Bsc holders are employed and preferred to teach in the polytechnics to HND holders; whereas they in NBTE claim that polytechnic is a school that teaches technology. Have university graduates suddenly turn themselves into polytechnic graduates?? HND holder, answer this simple question now; between HND Mechanical engineering graduate and BEng mechanical engineering graduate who would you prefer to teach mechanical engineering students undergoing training in the polytechnic ![]() |
Sbucareer, you are very funny; what you just posted is the truth, most nigerians love money and things that will bring money and not big names. Those white guys are something else; no wonder they refuse to ordin a black man as pope . |
qleyo:common don't crack such annoying jokes again. How is sbucareer right?? That Mathematicians don't go into programming or what?? You've said it already that mathematicians work together with engineers especially in the area of developing complex algorithms, so what are you saying?? My own point is that you cannot cry more than the bereaved or be more catholic than the pope; engineering students do a lot of mathematics, computer science students do a lot of mathematics too, but they cannot take more mathematics courses than mathematics students, simple!! And when mathematicians who wish to be programmers move on to programming they do it excellently. One of my programming Lecturers in school then Malcolm Forsyte had a Bsc in mathematics from Leeds university, and he was an excellent programmer especially in the area of numerical analysis and AI. |
The reason for the discrimination against HND holders is that, the polytechnics themselves have no confidence in their own products(HND holders) and as such do not patronize them. Most polytechnics do not employ HND holders either as academic staff or as technical staff. They prefer to employ a BEng holder to HND Engineering graduate in their engineering departments, and yet people keep saying that HND holders are technically better than BEng graduates. If they are better why is it that the polytechnics themselves discriminate against them?? Now tell me why any body out there would want to patronize someone whose own almamater where he was trained has discriminated and fail to patronize not to talk of been given a job?? Charity begins at home o!! |
Charity they say, starts from your home. I saw an advert today, a polytechnic seeking to employ engineers. Do you know what the requirement was?? A Degree from a recognised university. What about HND from a recognized polytechnic?? Is HND not the equivalent of a Degree again?? Are HND holders not good enough to be employed to work for their almamater where they were trained?? If the polytechnics themselves can be placing adverts and refusing to accept applications from their own HND graduates, it means something is wrong somewhere. Would you now blame the universities and other organizations for not employing polytechnic graduates?? If the polytechnics themselves cannot employ their own products it means they do not have confidence in them. Na wa oo. HND holders don suffer for nigeria, so tey even polytechnics sef dey discriminate them. I think the polytechnic that placed that advert should be Abia state polytechnic. |
Yes, let them go ahead. EFCC can probe churches that were built by the government, and not churches that were established and built by individuals or group. What kind of nonsense is that?? One day they would want to probe our various families to know how we spend our hard earned money. Nonesense!! I think government are looking for ways to start controlling churches. When will they probe mosques and shrines God never fire dem thats why. |
Let dem put things in order 1st, NUC will definitely re-open those study centers. |
your english is so poor; why not use yoruba, if that's your local language!! And hope you're not a graduate?? because emm people go dey wonder where you from graduate. |
Olabowale, you are a big liar. Moh was not in anyway like the prophets in the Bible, rather he was a direct opposite of God's prophets. 2ndly, Muslim men abstain themselves from fornication; did i hear you well at all?? You are right sha; no wonder Moh married Aisha at 6 and had canal knowledge of her at 9. Your religion is demonic and your founding prophet is a false one, and an example of the anti-christ we were warned about. |
FLEX06:I think say by now you go don leave psychiatric hospital; so you still dey there?? Doo oo my brother. I wish you a quick recovery. ![]() |
Our leaders are the problem to all these. I wish the militants will recognize this and change the direction of their attack from innocent people to the corrupt leaders there. I mean Local chiefs, traditional rulers, councillors, Local govt chairmen, governors, commissioners and all of dem like dat are the cause of all these. I rest my case too. |
