I don't know you some ethnic group can't do without mentioning Igbo. yet when they shout Biafra, the next thing u here is we are one Nigeria secession is against our constitution. I just see this as destructive jealousy, cause the Igbo's are successful any where u find them.
If Biafra is achieved through referendum ( as I hope it will), the new country will be even more legitimate than the illegality called 'Nigeria' that was created through the barrel of Lugards Gun.

You guys have reduced what ought to be a national historical marker to a national historical mockery.

One time it was Murtala that ordered the massacre.
Next time TY Danjuma ordered the massacre.
Then another time the massacre was ordered by Akinrinade.
Then you woke one day and said Buhari was responsible.

Now it is no longer Murtala, it wasn't Danjuma, Akinrinade was not responsible, Buhari is not guilty of the massacre.......

Ibrahim Taiwo, yes, Taiwo was the one who ordered the massacre! undecided undecided
It doesn't matter if it was Don Jazzy himself that ordered the massacre. What is important is that Murtala was in overall command of the Soldiers and as such, should bear responsibility for the conduct of his men.

For me as an Igbo man, it was a straight choice between GEJ and Buhari. Nothing about Buhari from his past to this present day shows him to a more capable leader than GEJ, if anything, Buhari is already showing that he will be much worse. If the elections are held again tomorrow, I will still vote GEJ rather than that common "Fulani cattle-rearer".

ojukwu displayed the same youthful exuberance when he was kanu's age. so forget it. stop glorifying ojukwu, yes he fought for a noble cause, but how he handled it was another thing entirely.
Ojukwu handled things as any sane man of the time would have. This was a man who saw as thousands of his people were being butchered, rendered destitute, chased oppressed all over Nigeria but he still had the temerity to sit down with Gowon in Aburi,Ghana, and hammer out an agreement to avert secession and subsequent war. Yet, Gowon chose disregard the gentlemans agreement he signed. What did people expect Ojukwu to do? To be jumping up and clapping his his hands as his people were being decimated? If any of us had been Ojukwu, we would have done exactly what he did. A person who believes in "One Nigeria" is just someone who has not yet witnessed 40,000 of his kin being slaughtered in broad daylight.

A lot of Nigerians like to dance around the truth. Before the advent of the White Man in west Africa, what was the connection between the Igbos and the Yorubas and their Hausa comrades? There was none. Would there have been any connection between Igbos and them had the White Man not come? There would have been none. So on what basis are we a country? Because the White Man came? This not good enough. This forced amalgamation of ethnic groups called Nigeria cannot go on and we pretend everything is ok. Nigeria is not a nation unless the various ethnic groups agree to the union. Anything else is illegal. Nigeria is an illegality. Is amuses me that it is on top of this fraud and illegality that people are chanting the mantra of "One Nigeria" and calling each other 'brothers'. What we Igbos are asking for is the same thing the creators of Nigeria, Britain, gave Scotland last year. The right to stay or go. But if anyone expects or forces the Igbos to accept 'one Nigeria', this will only lead down the road of war as it did before.

Do they have a stake in Biafra? Will they be citizens?
Of course they have a stake. Without British warships that prevented arms, food and medical supplies from getting into Biafra, Nigeria would have never won the Nigerian civil war. We want them to know that this time around, they stay out of our legitimate right to self determination.

If eventually igbos get their biafra, i am really curious to know how they intend to generate income for the biafran state!
Oil has been discovered in the east but obviously not in commercial quantities.
Please dont even call niger-delta. They loathe the igbos and i can bet my last dollar that none of the Niger-delta states would want to join biafra. That i know for sure!

If Biafrians seceed from Nigeria at this point, it would be a big mistake on their part!

1- There would be pervasive corruption and tussle for juicy government positions.
2- Crime rate would double or even triple in the eastern states due to increased population.

They agitate for biafra but they have not been able to fix their states with the little they get.
Apart from Enugu state, other eastern states have a lot of catch up to do.

Look at abia state, look at ebonyi state.... tufiakwa!!
Anambra state is the commercial centre but the last time i went to anambra state, it looked like lagos in terms of chaos but lacking the infrastructures that lagos has.

Fix the east with your state allocations before you ask for biafra!
Look at this one drinking panadol over another persons head ache. If Igbos don't want to be with you, then go and find another person to be with.

I have 2 questions:

1.I have been wondering and would like to know how it happened that we have such names like; Spiff,Lawson,Jack,Mighty,Clarke,Clinton etc.

2.Why do they have some Igbo sounding names but they are not Igbos.E.g. Amaechi,Ikenna,Nwanne,Chibuike, etc

What happened?
Niger Delta is not a people, it is an area of land. It is mostly Ijaws that have English names largely because of contact with the Europeans. It's almost impossible to any Niger delta Igbos who have English last names.

Biggar was the child of Ojukwu’s mother with a European named Biggar. In Igbo culture how is that family? When they call a meeting of kinsmen do you invite such people? You invite your father's children. I get that it is hard to admit that you made a mistake, but it is clear who is a fool here.. Stop jumping infront of the gun, it makes you sound ignorant. You are loud with very little intellect. . By the way Tom Biggar was white not black.
Is something wrong with you? You were arguing that Ojukwu did not lose any family member in the war. Now it has been proved to you that Ojukwus half brother died fighting with Nzeogwu in Nnsuka, you have now changed the argument that Tom Bigger is not Ojukwus Brother because he had a white father. Who cares what colour Tom Bigger was? The important thing to note is that he was Ojukwus half Brother of the same mother. I don't like arguing with small minds.

Don't make a fool of your self online. Google the name Tom Bigger to find out who he was. Tom Bigger was Ojukwus half-Brother who was born to Ojukwus mother after she remarried. I'm Proud of these gallant Biafran Soldiers, my father was one too. The fought to restore sovereignty and dignity to the people of eastern Nigeria and their sacrifice will never be forgotten. The only reason Nigeria won was because of the British warships that prevented the much needed ammunition, food and supplies from getting into Biafra. Had it not been for this, these men would have chased Gowon and his Northern cabal into Niger Republic .

And you think Nigerians are too gullible to buy your argument that GEJ was responsible for this improvement?

If it was possible to return GEJ to the presidency just for a month for an experiment, you will be amazed to see how EVRYTHING will take a terrible negative turn again.
Let me tell you something about the power sector which you may not know. In other to improve supply, a turn around maintenance has to be done on dams, grid lines and power station in addition to investments. This takes to do particularly in a place like Nigeria where the rot in the power sector is endemic. There is no way anyone can come and improve things after just 2 months, this is not like fixing a TV. Whatever improvement we see in the power sector is as a result of years of painstaking work by technical engineers and as such, has little to with Buhari.

So, who should be joining the other? Certainly not SS joining SE!

Judging by your reasoning and disposition, I don't think you matter as far as SE is concerned.
98% of the SS don't support Biafra? You should be more specific about what you think the SS is because a huge chunk of it are Igbos. Which SS are you talking about? Is it the Delta Igbos? Is it Anioma-Igbos? Is it Rivers-Igbos? Is it Etche-Igbos? Is it PortHarcourt which is the land of the Ikwerre-Igbos? Is it the Bonny-Igbos? All these people I just mentioned are people who speak Igbo as their ancestral language and bear Igbo surnames. They are less Igbo than me from Anambra. So please enlighten me more on this your so called "SS" and how you came up with this 98%.

When you mention SS and SE, never forget that these are just words that were invented by Abacha some 20 odd years ago.
Politics › Re: Lets Think Before Taking The Biafra Issue Further, By Chidi Obi by zendy:
angelberton:
Chidi Obi has reasoned with originality devoid of clouded eyes, unlike the uninformed internet warriors and market traders being manipulated by MASSOB and Kanu who is living fat off the generous donations made by sympathisers.

In truth, there is hardly any corner of Nigeria that an Ibo man has no property or business. The aggregates of these run into hundreds of billions of dollars. There are inter-marriages across virtually every tribe or ethnicity. Should the Ibos who are doing very well across the length and breath of Nigeria, except for Boko Haram which affects all Nigerians, leave and go back to Igbo land and start afresh?

I foresee untold hardship even if that can be achieved, which I doubt. Not least is the fact that almost 98% of South South do not want to be associated with or join Biafra in whatever shape or form. Moreover, majority of Nigerians are prepared to go to war to see that Nigeria remains one indivisible country. Most Ibos are not prepared to undergo another war.

Ibos are the chief architects of their marginalisation in Nigeria. There is a conflict of loyalty! Are Ibos Biafrans or Nigerians? Many of them call themselves biafrans. Nigerians will never vote for a biafran to be president of Nigeria.

Ibos are either biafrans or Nigerians. There are no two ways to it. Either to accept the obvious that they are part and parcel of Nigeria and fight for their rights within a prosperous Nigeria or engage in a fruitless 'freedom fight' for biafra. The choice is theirs to make and to live with its consequences.
This is pure gabbage. There is nothing greater than sovreignty or self rule. This is far greater than any amount of investment Igbos have outside Igbo land. As a tribe of between 35 to 50 million people, the Igbos have outgrown joining issues with Yorubas and Hausas. It is time for us to have our own country. There are many ethnicities in the south-South who are comfortable with the Igbos than they are with Nigeria and would choose Biafra any day. Wether you like it or not, Igbos must get Biafra and start charting our own course.
Politics › Re: Lets Think Before Taking The Biafra Issue Further, By Chidi Obi by zendy:
This Chidi Obi who wrote this rubbish is an Igbo man who doesn't know anything about where he comes from. There are many Igbos who where born or raised in other parts of Nigeria like Lagos, kaduna and Abuja who are like that. The only thing of interest he said was about not making Biafra an Igbo affair which is very important because the minorities of the SS must carried along, the rest of what he said is complete nonsense. He said that Igbos are marginalised in Nigeria but does not want to admit that Biafra is the best way to end Igbo marginalisation forever. He said that Igbos have helped develop Nigeria and we should not leave Nigeria after our all our contributions to the Nigerian state but he doesn't want to admit that charity begins at home. Igbos should be developing their home land and one of the biggest motivations for this is the emergence of Biafra. He said that Igbos don't have any industrial base whatsoever. Is this guy for realhuh I challenge anybody to refute the fact that after Lagos, Anambra state has the largest industrial base in Nigeria. This Chidi guy should go to see the largest market in west Africa at Onitsha and the industrial sophistication of Nnewi then come back and tell us what he thinks. He said that Igbos are landlocked. Someone buy this guy a map! PortHarcourt is an Igbo city. A world class seaport can be built in Oguta in Imo state. Anither tributary runs from Abia state into the Athlantic Ocean. People like Chidi Obi still think small, that's why he can't see past Nigeria to the huge potentials of the future Biafra.

Most of the people that worked for the sovereignty of Nigeria are Biafrans. Did they fight and die to get Independence for Nigeria?

Frustration and anger does no good. Even the scriptures made it clear.

Many Biafra agitant Exclude those living in other part of the Country as if they would be accommodated should they return home. These people in other part of the country are these 40,000 people you are talking of.

Currently, the Biafrans outside Biafra land are not in thousands but millions. When they make such a useless move for war and fail, they will cry more than they have done because the blood of these people would be on their head not on Nigeria.

If Biafrans see themselves as slaves which is unlikely, they should design a master plan and work for their freedom. You can't fight for freedom. It can only be given. Those that do are only showing their pride which most atimes get crushed easily.

The SW formed a government with Northern Nigeria with a plan/agreement. When it was bridged, they fought for it and they get what they want. What plan/agreement do we have or are we ready to make with Nigeria so that we can use that as a focus point when fighting for our right?

Just Nothing and Nothing.

Many people need to move out of stagnant water. Being home bound has made us stagnant.
Of course they fought and died to get indepedence from Nigeria. One thing you have to understand about Nigeria is that it was not created by the consent of the people but by the superior Fire-power of the British. It is still kept together by force of arms which is why is not a country in the real sense but a "prison". Biafrans have always fought for their freedom from Nigeria. The Igbos fought the "Ekumeku war" against the British. The Ijaws fought the "Akasa/Nembe war" against the British. We all know about the Biafran war. All these armed struggles were a manifestation that Biafrans have long rejected the notion of "Nigeria". Yes it is true that Biafrans and indeed Igbos have spread out all over Nigeria and indeed, the world. When we get Biafra, they will all be encouraged to return home and build their new nation. Those who do not wish to return because they are doing well where they are will be encouraged to make the best of it. Should Nigeria ask Biafrans to go, well, the world is a big place and Nigeria is just a small space on the world map. The new Biafra will apply to join ECOWAS anyway so that any Biafran will be able to travel and live anywhere they like in West-Africa, including Nigeria, without needing a Visa. Nobody wants war, I would rather if Biafra comes through peaceful means but history tells me that it won't be easy so we must prepare for any eventuality. During the Biafran war, Ojukwu told Gowon many times that instead continuing with war and many people dying, he (Gowon) should agree to UN backed referendum in the eastern region so that the people can decide for themselves if the want Nigeria or Biafra. Gowon refused and millions needlessly died to uphold a "white mans creation". Even Britain that created Nigeria granted one of its constituent parts a referendum last year, there was no noise. But if you ask the gap toothed Daura cattle rearer to give the SE/SS people the same referendum to decide their fate and avert war, he will tell you that "Lord Lugard" is God himself that made Nigeria and we have no right to self determination. Biafra is coming, it will be up to Nigeria to decide if it comes peacefully or violently, but it will surely come.

Its just funny people keep talking about Biafra this way. Biafra was born out of inferiority complex. That is still what is driving us today. We feel so inferior to the extent that we want to get rid of Nigeria.

Nigeria or the Non Biafrans are not as good as we are. That is true. But we have become our own worst enemy. Think of what Michael Okpara accomplished for us and compare it with what all the 5 states of the South East has accomplished since the creation of those states.
We are still arguing about which state is better, The Eri and Aro Clan, the Israel heritage and yet we dare to speak about waaar.

We have lost our essence. We are supposed to be the envy of Nigeria. We are still the envy of Nigeria. That is why the ill treatment. But when we decide to open our weakness to the public, we would become an object of caricatur like we are gradually becoming.

All we have to do is re-brand ourselves and rebuild ourselves. When we have done that, they will be even more frustrated that their effort is not yielding result. Why do we have to let them frustrate us while we should be tormenting them with our exceptional character and personality.

We need to go back and re-invent ourselves and we can't do that with frustration and hatred.
Biafra was born out inferiority complex? So it was not born out of anger at 40,000 easterners slaughtered in 66-67? It was not born out if the self determination? It was not born out freedom?

Biafra represents the right of free choice and sovereignty
