The General Overseer, Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has charged Nigerians to adopt right attitudes to life in order to get blessings from God.

Kumuyi gave the charge in Aba on Saturday at the conclusion of his five day visit to the eight regions of the Church in Abia.

The new DG SSS joined the service in 1982 and the agency is one of the three security agencies created out of the defunct National Security Organisation in 1986. Am still trying to get this clear,whether the man started working with the agency four years before it was established.

The SSS emerged as a separate organisation from the NSO. The new DG and his predecessor and all SSS officers recruited before 1986, were personnel of NSO. Some were moved to NIA and some to SSS.

Depending on what means of transport you are using to Abuja. Yes Abuja is generally expensive but you can get by if you know your way! You can lodge for the night at ABC terminal in Utako area of Abuja for instance or the ECWA Guest House in Wuse 2 -less than 10k if rates havent changed. If not for the fuel scarcity, you can get drop taxi for N300-600 to any of these and other cheap accommodation within Abuja. The Deputy Leader of the Senate, Bala Ibn-Na’Allah, says only a letter from the president of Nigeria can be read on the floor of the Senate or the House of Representatives.

Mr. Na’Allah told journalists in Abuja on Tuesday that it was the reason the purported letter written by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to the National Assembly was not and will not be read at plenary.

“A lot of people do not understand; as a member of the National Assembly, the moment you step into the National Assembly, you either take the Bible or the Quran; and then you subscribe to the oath of allegiance and then take your oath of office.

“The oath of office says that you will uphold, protect and defend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Law and then the Rules of the Senate.

“Outside these three documents, (a) senator does not have any leverage to do anything; there is no other document outside these three.

“And then if you carefully look at the rules of the Senate, the only letters that can be read on the floor of the House should a letter from Mr. President.

“And that is the convention not only in Nigeria, but in all other parliaments all over the world”.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to understand the workings of democracy before making attributions unknown in democratic circles.

Mr. Na’Allah, however, said that the party could influence its members in the National Assembly and at the state level through the various caucuses, but not by imposition.

“I have not seen any issue here; it is just that people are trying to overheat the polity without knowing what the process is all about”.

Good afternoon Doc and thanks for all your insights. What could be the issue if one is experiencing intermittent tooth ache, sometimes as if the teeth is mildly frozen or shocked? Sometimes pain could be excruciating. Is this what is called "sensitive teeth"? Any quick home remedy or first aid as I am not in a location where I would love to access a Dentist for now.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, on Tuesday, described as unfortunate, a statement by former interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, which alleged that the principal officers of the National Assembly enjoy the backing of some business interests and anti-Buhari elements.

Baraje, in a statement in Abuja, said he was disappointed that Akande who had led the party and served as a state Governor authored a statement in which he was seeking to divide the nation by setting the North against the South West.

The APC leader, who once served as the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party however, noted that he had a lot of respect for Akande.

He nevertheless expressed disappointed that the former interim chairman of the APC would be championing a claim which he could not substantiate.

Baraje said, “I do not know where Chief Akande and his cohorts are getting this unsubstantiated information they are circulating. We challenge them to provide proof and let Nigerians make their judgment.

“Akande and co believe that they have exclusive right to determine who occupies what position in today’s Nigeria and whoever tries to challenge their position must be subjected to savage attack in the media. That tactic is definitely undemocratic.

“I have known Chief Akande to be an honest man. I got the shock of my life when he alleged that I had a meeting in my house with ‘some old and new PDP members with a view to hijacking the National Assembly’ through the aspiration of Dr. Bukola Saraki as the Senate President.

“I have been quiet as a leader so as to not to be seen as taking sides because of my closeness to Dr. Saraki, else people will read meaning into it.

“Akande has been playing a role which I admire. He will recall that he met some actors, with a Governor from the NorthWest and a leader of the party from the SouthWest, where the leader from the SouthWest was cautioned to be reasonable in this crisis.”

He said the forum also admonished the Southwest leader to allow justice, fair play and equity to take place.

Baraje said, “He (Akande) supported the view of the governor from the North-west that the particular leader from the South-west should be admonished for his action. It is therefore surprising that Akande is now being economical with the truth and painting a picture that exists only in his imagination.

“My worry has been that President Buhari is being fed with lies and stories that are dangerous to the polity. My fears have now been confirmed with Akande’s statement.

“It is my prayer that the President should strengthen his information gathering network, so as to have a clear and true picture of what is happening.

“I am also appealing to Chief Akande and his cohorts to demonstrate more commitment to our party by exposing the President to the truth that would assist him in taking good decisions. I hope that this appeal will be heeded.

“I am still keeping quiet with the hope that our efforts in reconciliation will come to a fruitful end.

“I am happy to state that the former Governor of Kwara State enjoys the support of the critical constituencies that he needs to be President of the Senate, particularly that of the good people of Nigeria.”

Baraje said the story by Akande that a purported meeting took place in his house after the general elections where a so-called new PDP group plotted “with a view to hijacking the National Assembly, with an ultimate aim of resuscitating the PDP as their future political platform” was a mere fabrication.

I understand how most commentators feel about the "Northern" thing but I don’t see Buhari recommending the acting INEC Chairman for the appointment. Even if he does, I don’t see an APC dominated Senate, confirming a one-time PDP member as INEC Chairman. So perhaps we need to worry.... just perhaps!

It is barely three weeks into Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure as our democratically elected president and already it can be argued with sufficient justification that his first major crisis occurred with the conduct and outcome of the elections to fill the vacant leadership positions in the National Assembly (NASS) last week.

Senator Bukola Saraki, and Yakubu Dogara, somehow succeeded in getting themselves elected as Senate President and Speaker of the House respectively with the ‘help’ of their conniving opposition party the PDP. Not only that, the PDP also inexplicably managed to get one of its own – Senator Ike Ekweremadu – elected as the Deputy Senate President in a manner that both astonished and angered millions of supporters of the APC who would never have blinked their eyelids were the PDP to be proscribed altogether.


To those APC supporters, Ekweremadu’s re-election was the most painful event in the entire episode of the script that played out in the NASS last week. It was like having an ‘enemy’ take up permanent residency in their households. It threatened to undo most of their hard work in the lead-up to the elections which was hinged on the mantra of change.

Despite all his individual qualities, Senator Ekweremadu did not represent the change the teeming supporters of the APC envisioned. His membership of the much maligned PDP precluded that. And so the ultimate question is: how did Saraki and Dogara get away with what seemed like an impossible feat to the extent that the leadership of the APC, inclusive of President Muhammadu Buhari, cannot dare to contemplate reversing the outcome of the elections that brought them into power without activating the self-destruct button on the tenuous coalition of parties and individuals the party is made of?

The first answer, if truth must be told, is for us all to embrace the undeniable fact that none of our laws were flouted in the process adopted for the elections in the NASS. Like President Buhari himself confirmed in the statement released by his Special Adviser Femi Adesina, the elections were wholesomely constitutional.

The second major factor which those opposed to both Saraki and Dogara appear to have realized too late is that President Buhari is not Olusegun Obasanjo. Even if they failed to acknowledge Buhari’s decision not to interfere in the affairs of the NASS, two weeks of his presidency should have taught them that the new president is a systems person who has no inclination to act outside clearly defined structures and parameters.


President Buhari so far has shown that he is a respecter of bureaucracy, a fact mistaken by his critics who are equally entitled to believe that he is too slow to act. Saraki and Dogara had few doubts that Buhari will never interfere in the institutional processes of the NASS and proceeded to activate their plot with precision. By contrast, it is now obvious that both Senator Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila trusted in the party supremacy and the intervention of the President as its leader. The rest, as it is often said, is now history.


While the elections were being concluded in the hallowed chambers of the NASS, they were caught napping waiting at the International Conference Center (ICC) in Abuja for a meeting with Buhari in the hope that his intervention would be in their favour.

That said, both Saraki and Dogara must count themselves lucky that Olusegun Obasanjo was not the president at the time of their election. If Obasanjo were the president, Senator Saraki, in particular, would have had the cases of graft brought against him by the EFCC swiftly re-opened. Instead for strategising to become the Senate President, he would have been conveniently ‘disqualified’ battling to clear his name in the courts at this material time.

But the third and most decisive reason why Saraki and Dogara prevailed was the hard-line posture of the APC party leader Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the entire impasse. The APC like I stated earlier is by and large an amalgamation of numerous parties, individuals and even interest groups. There is the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) which produced President Buhari. There is also the original Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to which Tinubu, and by extension Vice President Yomi Osinbajo, belonged.

There is also the All Nigeria People Party (ANPP) which harboured people like the Nassarawa state Governor Al-Makura. Chief Rochas Okoroacha also brought in a faction of APGA. But by far, one of the most telling inclusions was the defection of the G7 – later G5 governors from the PDP called the nPDP, which gave the party a massive nationwide spread and stronghold in the Northwest and North-central parts of Nigeria. Above all, they also boasted a certain Atiku Abubakar in their ranks!

A very close friend of mine who also doubles as one of the consultants to the NASS who was present as the dramatic events unfolded, was emphatic that Senator Tinubu was entirely to blame for the outcome of the elections for his winner takes all attitude that would have precluded members of the nPDP members of the APC from benefitting from any of the elective positions on offer.

By the time of the NASS elections both the CPC and the ACN had already produced the President and Vice President respectively. There was also a wide consensus that the ANPP should produce the Senate President and Senator Lawan from the Northeast was favoured and widely accepted by the party members.

That left the position of Speaker of the House yet to be filled. With the nPDP completely out on the limb, there was a strong argument that the faction should be allowed to produce the Speaker of the House but Tinubu still insisted on Gbajabiamila who is from the ACN faction. He also did not accept that Honorable Yakubu Dogora, who is from the nPDP faction, to be nominated even as the Deputy Speaker to Gbajiabiamila.

That, in essence, was what triggered the rebellion that resulted in the triumph of Saraki, Dogara and Ekweremadu last week. In the coming days and months, volumes will be written about the outcome of the elections, but in actual reality it was all about greed and the lack of equity in the sharing of leadership positions in the APC. The PDP may gloat for as long as it likes, but in the actual reality, the APC opened the door for what appears to be a temporary triumph and promise of much needed revival. For the generality of Nigerians who yearn for positive change in the affairs of the country, we can only hope that all parties would have learnt useful lessons from the elections.

Lai Mohammed, Muhammadu Buhari Is The Leader Of APC

The National Publicity Secretary, of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was quoted recently as saying that the President and Commander- in –Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR is not the leader of the APC but a beneficiary of the APC platform. This is farther than the truth, the statement from an official of the APC sounds distasteful to any discerning mind following the political events in Nigeria. I am not a member of any political party but I had worked tirelessly to the realization of Muhammadu Buhari Presidency since 2003 and related closely with the current President in this attempt towards the Interventionist plan. Yours sincerely was at several times harassed by the President Olusegun Obasanjo’s goon of unrepentant Intolerance of a civilian dictatorship. It is worthy to note that the Buhari’s phenomenon was a long history of commitment, resilience and devotion which did not start with the 2015 Presidential election. It is seed planted to survive a deity of suppression and massive oppression of people’s will. The fact that the Idea did not succeed in past does not mean that the miniscule looming of the Inevitability was supplanted, it was just a matter of time for the Idea to become realizable and it happen in 2015 with the apparent pliability of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the dexterity of the electorates. If the truth must be told, the South West geographical zone, being highly disenchanted with the political compensation menu offered to them by the then President Jonathan’s government, coupling with the frustrations of former President Obasanjo’s desire to muscle the then President amongst others provided the Buhari’s Presidency a common point for rallying a massive support. Muhammadu Buhari had in 2011 Presidential election cornered about Twelve Million votes to his side, this is no small success, considering the fact that he did that almost single handedly in his new political party, the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) having broke off from the rancorous All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). This mean feat is unparallel in the history of the Nigerian Political Contest. The merger of ANPP, CPC and the erstwhile Action Congress of Nigerian (ACN) with the segregated faction of All People Grand Alliance (APGA) which produced APC had no option than to adopt Muhammadu Buhari as its Presidential Candidate in order to succeed and it did. Without Muhammadu Buhari as its Presidential Candidate in 2015 election, APC would have lost the election and it is doubtful if most of the governors that won under the platform of the APC will ever win. Muhammadu Buhari had a personality of Incorruptibility and high passion for national progress mixed with the spirit of patriotism that no any politician ever had. When the South -west came out of its regional political cocoon to adopt the candidature of Buhari, I was initially skeptical about the Intentions and the politicians from that region that are canvassing for this support made my skepticism even deeper for obvious reasons. It is strange and the politicians are direct opposite of what Buhari stand for. However, Buhari won and we are ever grateful for the support. Like the Former Minister of Planning, Dr Shamsudeen Usman was quoted as saying, one State in the North (Zamfara) gave Buhari a vote more than the entire South- West. Not withstanding, the Vice President slot was allotted to the region, this is a good compensation by any standard.

The emergence of Alh. Abubakar Bukola Saraki as the Senate President and Mr. Yakubu Dogara as the Speaker of the House of Representative against the APC preferred candidates for the two posts raised a highly controversial menu for discourse in our political experience. Saraki may not be a Saint but his political defiance had given Nigeria the required expectations of equity, Justice and equality which APC will be myopic in taking into cognizance under normal conditions. It has also enhanced the Independence of the legislature in choosing its own leaders. With the President from the North -West, the Vice President from the South- West, the Deputy Senate President from the South -East, the Speaker of the House of Representatives from North-East and his deputy from south- West. The need for an APC Presidency to bother about National Unity Government in order to satisfy the varying national sensitivities and sensibilities has rationally been taken care of and it is good for national renaissance. From the levers of religious contentions, it is clear that equal representations had been taken care of. The President is a Muslim from the North – West (Katsina), the Vice President is a Christian from the South – West (Lagos), the Senate President is a Muslim from the North- Central minority tribes (Kwara), the Deputy Senate President is a Christian from the South – East (Enugu), the Speaker of the House of Representative is a Northern Christian from the North – East (Bauchi) and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative is a Southern Muslim from the South – West (Osun). What man could not do, in any political party by a way of zoning God has done it through the Saraki and Dogara defiance. Thanks to Saraki and Dogara defiance!. Many thanks also to the President, Muhammadu Buhari for congratulating the new leaders of the National Assembly and allowing the verdict of the National Assembly to prevail without Interference. This will boost the democratic flavor and allow for participatory democracy. With this action, Nigeria is on a sound democracy journey. Let Lai Mohammed and the APC leave the National assembly alone. The period of political campaigns is over. It is now time to consolidate on our democratic success towards national rejuvenation. If Charity begins at home, then the home must have charity and hence, there’s no APC victory without Buhari, at least in the 2015 Presidential election. Accordingly, Lai Mohammed should be asked who is the APC Leader other than President Muhammadu Buhari?

What I know is that Belgium visa takes a lot of time so start early.

Someone whose family is visiting Netherlands this Summer, decided to re-route their travel through France so he applied for Schengen visa through the French Embassy and they were issued visas in about 3 weeks. Perhaps going through the French Embassy could be easier/faster but then the French Embassy only issues visas for applicants for Netherlands from the Southern States while Belgium handles for Northern States and Abuja. Someone, whose application has been pending for 7 weeks, wrote them a 4th reminder and they replied him that visa issuing would take 14 working days! That’s roughly 3 weeks and they were saying that to someone who has been waiting for over 7 weeks getting to 2months soon!

A Civil Rights group, Nigerian Democratic Front ( NDF ), has kicked against the planned reinstatement of the dismissed Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council ( NIPC ) by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The group which made this call during a press briefing held in Abuja yesterday, appealed to the president to look properly into the reason why Mrs. Umar was dismissed before trying to reinstate her as according to them, her dismissal was out of her failure to perform.
Addressing the press the leader of the group, Comrade Philip Agbese, admonished the president to desist from sacrificing competence on the altar of mediocrity, not in that Mrs. Umar has severally been dismissed at different instances in her working career as a result a person with such working history should be deemed unemployable by any government that is serious about results.
According to Agbese, Mrs. Umar had before her appointment as Executive Secretary of NIPC been summarily dismissed from the services of thethe Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM ) on the grounds of under performance.
The group which has also called on Mrs. Umar to "desist from playing the religion card as a tool to gain sympathy as Nigerians have shown that they have grown past religious sentiments".
While commending the president over his support for the presidential bid of the former Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Femi Adesina which led to his eventual victory, the group also advised him not to totally condemn those appointed by the previous regime because of their association with the regime but retain and make use of those who are like Adesina, productive in order to enhance continuity and productivity.
Meanwhile the group has also advised that Mrs. Saratu Umar's issue be addressed as part of the national funds recovery process in a bid to recover the wealth erstwhile acquired by Mrs. Umar while she held sway at (NIPC ).

Human Rights Lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome,SAN has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s first 30 days in office as a monumental disaster and a great disappointment to most Nigerians who had hoped for miracles and ground breaking deeds.
In a statement on Monday in Abuja Ozekhome said that “he had hit the ground sitting, rather than running. He appears very confused, not having a strong grip on power. He appears to live in the 80s, with serious diplomatic gaffes such as calling Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, President Michelle of West Germany! This, in 2015.
“The Boko Haram insurgency has intensified geometrically, with power supply getting worse. Internally, he appears to have no control over his APC party, which he ought to be leader of, perhaps because they regard Bola Tinubu as the national leader” he added.
He stated that “the party is imploding instalmentally. Impunity in all facets of life has increased. PMB is still running the government solo, in the manner of a military dictator, contrary to the provisions of the Constitution which compels him to have Ministers.
“There is despondency and hopelessness everywhere, with the government exhibiting no real sense of direction, mission or vision. The ship of state appears rudderless and directionless, with his ruling APC party still talking and behaving tough as if it is still in the opposition.
“Corruption, which has became the 37th State of Nigeria and the wealthiest at that, is not climbing down from its imperious monstrous height. Rather, it is waxing stronger and becoming more and more endemic, lavishing the weak fiber of the Nigerian society with reckless abandon and impunity. Corruption now mocks all of us with utmost derision.
He noted that “insecurity is becoming more frightening, with boko haram which had been massively degraded and nearly decapitated before PMB’s oath of office on May 29, waxing stronger and stronger and indeed becoming more daring and defiant.
