GAZZUZZ: Cold start would be almost impossible in most cars. Yap thats true hence my suspicion on the engine temp sensor, 12 volts was connected to it and it went straight to the ECM, in the process the sensor got damaged and so was the ECM and now both are being recording as being faulty |

Coldplay007: YOU didn't get the point.. It's very bad habit to park in gear one... He didn't mention anything about leaving the car gear in 1, so the natural assumption is that he packed the normal way (in neutral).. But if he actually parked in gear one, then u guys are correct about the car being lifted.. Or did he mistakenly leave his doors open?
OP! Was the car in Neutral or 1? bad habit or not we can debate all night long but it depends with terrain check this its from government website part of the UK highway code https://www.gov.uk/waiting-and-parking/parking-at-night-248-to-252

@ boss Dec0tech, any help on getting original BBox of d said car in abuja n goog tech to fix? it looks like the ECM was damage due to the d.i.y of the engine temp sensor being rewired most likely 12volts was directed back to ECM through one of the wires of the engine temp sensor i cant remember a faulty engine temp sensor causing a car not to start |

drlogg: First i thank God for a forum like nairaland.
So let me share my experience to you. It happend this morn. I took my car out to church, due to some reason I parked my car outside church premises, though infront of a closed shop. With my rear facing the entrance of the said shop. Hoping the owner of the shop wont open today cuz it a sunday mrn.
Now to my great surprise, upon leaving church, i found my car moved away fromthe entrance of the shop ( i.e, the car's rear facing the shop's entrance has been moved away providing space for the shop owner to open her door.) How cld it be! Now my question is what are the disadvantages of doing such thing to a parked car. Though the car drives fine afterwards.
Please note that hand brake is not that effective. Car is 1997 honda accord. no harm at all except if the jack has been put on the wrong jacking position it might make a dent underneath the car |

nairacountry: I did work on my exhaust when I travelled out of my base this past Yuletide. To my disappointment, my Honda V6 1998 model which had no issues before couldn't start! I scanned and it threw d ffg codes: *P1607- ECM/PCM internal circuit malfctn *P0108- Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure circuit High *P0117 & P0118- Engine Coolant Temp Sensor 1 circuit Low & High *P0123- Throttle/Pedal Position sensor/switch A circuit High *P0113- Intake Air Temp sensor 1 circuit high *P1498- EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Position sensor circuit high voltage.
After much efforts by some mechs, an auto electrician (re-wire) did earth one of d 2 wires on d temperature sensor (pix attached) & unplug one of d 02sensors on d exhaust b4 d car could start. I drove d car within Ibadan town for 3days before I embarked on d journey back to my base; Abuja. The journey was smooth as there were no issues wit d car. D few issues I detected were dat: 1. D car idle was poor for d 1st 1/2mins in d morning (d rpm wont rise atall in d first 10secs then rise above 1 b4 gradually coming to .4 withing d first 1/2mins) 2. It's fuel consumption noticeably rises 3. D rpm reaches btw 4/5 b4 changing gear from 1 to 2.AUTO Transmission.
Pls any help on wat I can do to make my car function as it used to. SOMETHING HAPPENED TO TRIGGER ALL THOSE CODES AT ONCE TRY THIS CLEAR THE CODES AND DRIVE AND SEE IF THEY COME BACK |

Because I want to co sue the federal government, Nigeria customs, and federal road safety agency for scamming Nigerians over this absurd. i dont know anything about nigerian laws but everywhere in the world you get a ticket for worn out tyre as it is a danger to yourself and your passengers and other road user, worn out there is no grip and it might burst any moment worn out tyres, broken headlights, non working indicator/blinker (nigerian trafficator) those are things police can stop you for and give you a fine here in UK a worn out tyre gets you 3 points on your licence and fine (we use the point system when your points get to certain number 12 i think within 3 years you get banned from driving for a certain period of time ) https://www.gov.uk/driving-disqualifications

AutosBay: Manual cars are highly fuel efficient, but difficult to drive, due to clutching and it's gear configurations, whereas automatic cars are very easy to drive, but consumes more fuel and you may have difficulty pushing an automatic car if it breaks down on the highway. everyhing is hard if your are not taught but if you invest time in being taught how to drive a manual you would drive one and you would find it that its easy |

AutosBay: Putting your spare key inside your car is not advisable, it's better you find a compartment underneath the car that is hidden where you can tie it, keeping it at home might be stressful, that is going back and forth from office to your house to get the spare key considering the distance. thats sounds stupid as well you would be subjecting the chip to elements of weather safely home is the best and simple phone call wouldnt hurt to let someone bring it over the spare |

business05: Help. my Benz E220 wagon of 1997 automatic transmission have bn lying one place since 3 months ago. The Key is not turning anymore. Some people said i have to change the key and the brain box, other conflicting info said i can change only the key. I am confused... My problem is i want to know if its possible to change they key alone and they car will work again. secondly if you have had similar issue before please share with me and guide as par the price and the best hands to patronise for changing the key successfully. Thirdly if my old key can still be re programmed and be made to walk with the car. That would be fantastic. Thank you all you cant change the key only it has to be with ECU, the key is coded to the ECU most of the time there is no need to program a key from from another car the reason being you will still have to change the ignition barrel and door mechanism so it always better to get a blank key that will programmed and cut |

Doyin4real: Have you ever given it a thought about the best place where you can keep the spare keys to your car? Should be at home, in your office or inside the car itself? What is your own opinion about this? Safety and easy access (proximity) to key should be put into consideration. why would keep the spare key inside the car one of the reason for a spare key is not to be locked out so if the car locks you out then the set is locked in the best place is the same place you keep your other important things eg document like birth certificate etc |

danadam: I disconnected the wire in the last pix and connected the switch. The fan does not run even with the AC switched ON. However, I drove the car for about 20 km (40 minutes drive) within the city but it didn't overheat. I noticed that the RPM which usually rises to 1500 and later idles at 1000 is now idling at about 500-600. Dunno if there's any correlation. The pix below shows the engine temperature after the trip. is this the ideal engine temperature of a 1996 honda civic? I'm yet to get a thermostat but will continue searching for one tomorrow. it was idling high because it was reading the engine temperature as cold, so to compensate the ECU increase the idle (more fuel ) so that the engine temperature will raise to the operating temperature, then the idle drops abit you saved your engine from forming slug and also weaking of the engine block and other componets the ONLY THING that are changed when car is imported from different region (climate environment) is the the type of OIL check this user manual oil guide from honda for honda crv 1997- 2000

Lemme source for a thermostat, sealant/gasket and 10 inch spanner then we can proceed with the DIY. Thanks ZIMDRILL. just to make sure pull out that bridge wire and start the car and see if the fan runs if it does then you got it then connect the plug to the where its supposed to connect |

remember you need a sealant or gasket
