godsamist: How do u prove this? Do u brake and accelerate at the same time? Assumping you are coasting on high speed and the need to apply ur brakes arises do u stil accelerate or remove ur foot fro accelerator pedal..under this process instead of saving fuel how come the waste? pls prove ur theory. The moment u apply the brakes ur engine should be in idle position ..At feul economy rate, not wasting pls
what is trying to say is this instead of applying the brakes to slow down, you just let the foot of the accelator and the car will low down
especially at speeds thats are 40mph and above
this about anticipating the flow of traffic especially the next car in front of you, things like the speed and gap between you and the next car
abatically: This is what I hate about cartalk. Some so called pro think they know it all, and they are very quick to critisize others. Honda power steering whine at cold start doesn't necessarily mean the pump is bad, it can simply mean the o ring is bad and need to be replaced. This is even published in Honda bulletin. I use an accord I have encountered the same problem and a simple o ring change fixed it. I didn't even spend up to 500 naira. Try to make research before criticizing.
it seems like when someone asks you guys you take it the wrong way
check again there is a question mark at the end of my sentence in my 1st post meaning am asking
and it doesnt mean am dismising what you said
Once again i never claimed to be PRO, if people take me as PRO thats how they see me but i have never claimed to one
and also being a pro doesnt mean i know every car inside and out NO ,
thats the reason i did put a question mark because you learn in asking and based with experience so far i have never came across such problem and got sorted by changing the o-ring but i didnt dismiss what you said i simply asked a question
me asking had an objective to learn something from your answer
just like i did in the workshop today a nissan quashai came in yesterday with a non working wiper motor, snow has built up on the screen and the lady kept on turning on the wiper until the motor siezed, got her a second hand, connected turn on the wiper and i wouldnt turn, checked the fuse it was blown, replaced it and still it wouldnt turn then unplugged it and put direct 12v to motor it turned, plugged it back turned the switch on and it would turn, then my partner put the negitive of the test meter on negitive terminal of the battery, test meter on 20v testing point then the positive on one of the positve wires to the motor, like magic the motor started to turn and it looked as if the motor has been jump started
so next time will use what we learnt today and if am to tell someone they would 1st question me again and i will to explain to them what happened in our 1st experience and him/her will learn from that if s/he will encounter such a problem
sempeman: The power steering pump is not leaking and the fluid is not low...but when i start the engine in the morning the fluid usually gush out and also bring out little bubbles.
my question is directed to the person who mentioned changing the o-ring
abbeYhart: I guess its the o-ring inside the steering pump. I had similar problem but it was fixed at agindigbi in ikeja at a very cheap price..if you happen to be in lagos..let me know so that I give you the number of the man who fixed mine.
making noise because of o ring or because it was leaking and fluid low ?
sempeman: when turning the steering it make a kind of noise and i have change the power steering pump and its still making same sound...what should i do...need ur advice
what sort of noise does it make
you rushed to changed the pump with full diagnose
on average the powering pump makes noise when the fluid is below the minimum level and or when bearing inside is gone
you noise can be anything like inner/outer track rod end
a simple investigation, put the car on rump/lift and turn the steering to hear the sound and where it is coming from
indigene: There re tire manufacturing industries in UK? How many pothole are there in Cornwall industrial zone? How many potholes from Heathrow to Central London? How many insurance companies have failed woefully to pay or indemnify there clients who are car insurance holders? I am talking about Nigeria, where even personal and official cars of FRSC and the police have worn out and expired tires. If you are in UK, come home and roost for awhile
am sure that the law is there but not being implemented
kataleya: I just installed a security system in my car two days ago, its been working fine but the car just wont start now. I used the key to open the door but it wont start the car . what do I do.
the only person who can diagnose your problem is the person who installed the security system
AutosBay: Keeping a full tank keeps your car healthy. Experts that are familiar with the common fuel injection system will tell you that running out of fuel can cause serious fuel line problems - and that running low can be detrimental, too. Running out of fuel in a fuel injected car can allow small particles of dirt and rust that are concentrated at the bottom of the gas tank get sucked by the fuel pump. When this happens, some of that dirt can work its way past the fuel filter, into the injectors, causing major problems.
Source: Wikipedia.org
thats half the truth what would have happened to the filter/strainer on the pump itself then the filter on the line
so the solution is not filling up the tank but get the tank cleaned, the pump filter/strainer changed and the line filter changed
the tricky part is for diesel car if you run out of fuel and refill you need to prime otherwise the wont start and there would be air in the fuel lines
the reason i asked, was that if it a FWD it wouldnt have an axle as the drive shafts would come out straight from the gearbox, unless if it has a transferbox without being a 4 wheel drive or rear drive
if it is a 4 wheel drive or rear drive then they would be a tranferbox for the propshaft connecting to the diff at the rear
as for the transferbox the question would be whether it takes oil on its own or as one unit using the oil from the gearbox
thats were my question was heading if you had answered me in my 1st post
philthehorefly: Hi got a2001 jeep g c l v8 l have change cam ' and crank sensor and ecu stil no start give me kee symbill on dash give no codes any sugestions welcome
that the immobiliser
your key's transponder and the reciever are not communicating
senator2k9: Bro, u jst want to comment so dat u wil shw d world u are an expert or wat? He stated dat his car is a Camry Pencil light, all pencil light camry has an axle dat propels the shaft, then the shaft propels wheels. 1999 camry (pencil light) has 4 types of oils it uses, namely: power steering oil, Engine oil, transmission oil and the Axle oil. If u feel dat is only cars with 4wd or rear drive dat has an axle then u are stil living in ur Peugeot 504 and pickup days. Make ur enquiries well next tym and don't come and embarrass urself on my post next tym.
easy check the senstence again it has a question mark
besides on car the same model can hav different variation thats why i asked
why do people rush to conclude that i want to show other that am an expert ? am here to air my views and knowlegde i dont contribute to be rated it seems you do, I DO NOT
things i dont know i ask hence "are all 99 camry's rear drive or 4 wheel drive ?"
Ezzyman: Dear all, pls I need someone to educate me on the major differeances between 2004 honda odyssey and 2003 toyota sienna. Thank u
dont be daft
the obvious thing is that there are different as they come from different manufacturers
can the two manufacturer make the same model ? no, so common sense should tell you that they would be different since there are made buy different manufacturer
it was going to be easy if you are comparing a model of car but different years of manufacturer i.e a honda odyssey 2001 and 2004
senator2k9: Bro u didn't tell us which oil was leaking. U knw ur gearbox uses 2 types of oil. The Gear oil and the axle Oil. If its the gear oil oil den its probably frm the bottom plate, buy a bottom plate gasket n make sure all d knots are properly tied. Bt if its frm d axle then perhaps its d axle oil seal. Make sure ur mechanic washes the entire axle wit fuel so dat u can check if the new oil seal he puts is not stil leaking, pix of d oil seal in d axle in d pix below. I once bought it for 1k, it could be more or less depends on ur location
how did you know that his car a 4 wheel drive or rear drive with a differential box (axle)
Siena: well, Shagati and cne010 are as close as it gets.
No radio.
I am installing a 7" tablet, either iOS or Android. It will be a cellular version, so will have it's own SIM card with data enabled. These days tablets will do just about anything a car audio unit will do - FM radio, Media Player, TV, Internet, Navigation etc, depending on what other Apps you install, a tablet will surpass an audio unit.
This will run through a 4-channel amplifier, with a dedicated subwoofer output.
in my honda i got a double din android radio with built in wifi and also can work with a dongle, i use my phone as hotspot if there is no internet around, i didnt like the idea of fiddling with tablet to fit the dash
the only disappointment i got from the radio was that my headrest screen only get signal when am playing the dvd, if i play from youtube and just being on the internet, the display is not sent to my headrest monitors therefore people at back wont be able to watch videos from you etc
for the subwoofer i put those one that can fit under the seat but mine is at the back where the spare wheel should be and it covered by the honda table and it spreads the bass along the car's floor
murtala120: Good day please I need to know if brain box can make ur gear change poorly after buying a new gearbox. My car is a honda accord 2005 mordel (EOD) PLEASE REPLY on site or on onunkwononso@gmail.com
Mcdonelldouglas: Two Nigerian students have come up with a design for a car that runs on water. Before we raise funds to make a prototype, we would like to know if we have your patronage. Before you tell us how impossible it is, kindly answer the question. Thank you.
Thats stupid question to ask
really who would want a car that runs on water (water is generally free) so they would be expense on fuel
but the question is, would these OIL giant companies let it happen ? am sure they would kill to sabotage that type of a car
optimusprimer: MY Engine is working fine as the 6 rated Engine. its also a manual transmission gear, I am thinking of changing my engine to that of a c class since its cheaper and maybe i will also change the gear to an auto transmission.
is this a good idea? as the c class engine seems to be even cheaper
just sell the one you have and get the one with auto
common sense that chopping the one you have and start having issues after the transplant
nurey: Nope, I don't think I have any rust that leads from the cabin to the under, the principle is carbon monoxide coming in from the window at stops, and continuous inhaling can be dangerous.
Besides the sole in the changed part was still very minimal, hasn't enlarged.
think hard my friend do you drive in closed emvironment that carbon monoxide will overcome oxygen?
nairacountry: This has 2 wires. Itwas one of d wires cut and joined d yellow one u see in my pix as elongation. The tech guy talk about d sensor '.....was/wasnt returning' so d grounding of d wire
what was done on that area that he had to cut the wire to make it longer ?
nairacountry: The car wld actually start but giving rising and falling RPM. also misfiring until d ground wire was done. One of d 02 sensors was disconnected from d exhaust b4 d car could fire ok wit no black smoke.
Ok sir. I wil try if i can do this morrow. Thanks sososo much sirs
a faulty MAP SENSOR would cause that hence you had the code P0108- Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure circuit High
GAZZUZZ: OP remove the ground wire connected to the temp sensor, connect normaly clear codes and re- scan car, who can know the 12v(-) might be causing the ecm code.
i never know
most temp sensors i know either use the engine body as the negative and only one wire from wiring harnes to connect to the sensor or it has wires that come from the wiring harnes
have never came across a one that you have to physically connect the earth wire (negative/ -12v)
Coldplay007: Zimbabwean, that's more like it.. I always knew there was something different about you.. You don't beef.. (so beef is Nigerian ).. Most Nigerians would have started spitting beef after our last encounter on that tranny thread..
i havent got time for beef
i say things that i know and for cars i work on cars every day and things i say are through experience
and this moving of the car we always doing it in our work shop we lift one side with jack and the jack will act as the pivot and us we push from the other side, the car will shift to where ever we want
GAZZUZZ: We are derailing. Meanwhile I have renewed my licence twice. End
i dont know your system
do they expire ? or something
here you only change after 10 i.e get a new picture taken (for obvious reason how you looked 10 year ago and present would be different so the picture has to be changed)
nurey: On sunday after the car had been returned for ABS fix, I noticed the exhaust sounds more like a Lamborghini than a toyota. If exhaust isn't fixed
1. Pollution of the environment with noise and gas (carbon monoxide) occurs 2. Danger of poisoning one self with CO due to buildup which can lead to brain damage or unconsciousness while driving 3. Decreased car mpg more money to buy fuel
So as a good Nigerian and because Eko oni Baje. Lol I decided a fix is in order. I have bargained with the panel beater and he has agreed to charge #5000 for replacement and workmanship will upload pix when he comes back, come and eat o
does your car have a big huge whole that the carbon enters your cabin ?
