I use my left for brake when driving auto. I have been doing that since 2003 and have never made a single mistake with it. Since 2012 I have always been on the road on long distance journeys because of a research I am conducting and still conducting, and not for once have I made any mistake. Now, the thing is what somebody failed at should not be regarded as something everybody will fail at doing. I am concious of what I am doing at every fucking minute behind the steering wheel. Do not copy me anyway as might style of driving might put u in trouble. I have been driving auto anyway after I dumped manual cars since 2003. And no matter what, manual aint my thing and I will never return to it.
But there is a reason I use my left leg for brake; unfortunately that is not for public discussion, but u can deduce from my licence as it reads CLASS J. I bet those with brains will get it.

Car TalkRe: Does The Seat Belt Reflect The Actual Year A Car Is Made? by ZIMDRILL(m): 12:13pm On Feb 18, 2015
olubabatti:
Hi All. Please i will like to know if the year written on a seat belt, is the actual year a car is produced. This is because i brought in a year 2000 Toyota 4 runner and on inspection at the port 19999, which is written on the seat belt was taken to be the actual year the ride was produced. So am wandering can the year on the seat belt truly be the production year even when the other documents, title deed & car manual reflects 2000? Or should i believe the authorities were just looking for an opportunity to find fault?
Kindly let me know your view.

Thanks
it depends remember its a 2000 and now its 2015 how many repairs had happened in the space of 15 years

but also componet can be made is november 1999 and assembled in 2000 production car and the car's first registration would be 2000

so those are two things to consider

Why is it a bad habit to brake with one's left foot?

personally, i find i can drive faster and with more confidence, as i can react just that much quicker, almost instantly to any event. switching my right foot from the accelerator pedal to the brake just seems very time consuming. i know not a lot of time, but when you are driving fast, its the little reactions that count.

but i have heard many times that it is a bad habit. please in detail tell me why. thanks
its a racing practice

and racing driver sometimes use it in the everyday driving

but the problem is no ordinary drivers is that, the left foot is left leaning on the pedal therefore misleading people behind you as they think you are braking and you are not and it is annoying to the driver behind you

just imagine you are bumpy road that left foot is leaning the brake and the brake light is on and off and you are the driver behind, wont you feel pissed with driver?

the technic is for racing general driver makes it worse by leaving the foot leaning on brakes therefore its either you brake light are always on or on and off when you are not braking at all

Why do you think he needs to learn to drive a manual car in this age. Do you honestly think the world would go back to manual car. Would you advise somebody to learn how to use a cassette before he learns how to use a CD or DVD? Think
thats were you are lost manuals are not outdated even cars that are manufactured in just for europe market are manual

nigerians you are confused on basic that americans prefer automatics and most of your new and used car in nigeria are from america and are automatic, therefore YOU think the rest of the world is moving to automatics , NO

Like i said before most car in europe are manual, here in UK most people learn to drive with manual, thats the sort of natural way to drive and also by law if a driving licence is for an automatic car, you are not allowed to drive a manual car

but if your licence is for a manual car, you can drive a automatic (it doesnt take 3 mins for a manual driver to master how to drive an automatic) the only thing i noticed is that you generally brake hard

Car TalkRe: Sedan Vs SUV by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:53am On Feb 13, 2015
andronite:
HI everyone,

Which do you think is better in Lagos, Nigeria - an SUV or a Sedan

Sedan - lower mpg, "i assume" lower maintenance, maneuverability, ease parking in crowded areas, you can take all the shortcuts (you know those tight alleys one darts into when the main road is congested, that involves closing and opening side mirrors), less gasoline (most sedans are not v8's) etc

SUV - higher mpg, reduced risk of destroying the engine bay (e.g. - i went over a bump and the wire cut), when the rain comes, the car can swim. in short, it can take you everywhere, all at the minuses of a sedan listed above.

Now for someone who will be in lagos, and travel to other states 4-5 times a month. which would you advise as a daily drive.
Ted to a sedan, but from experience, too many things damage the underside of vehicles and when one travels interstate, some offroad terrains need to be transversed.

So from your experience, which would you pick? and more importantly why?
the comparison is to you based on what you will be using the car for eg myself i am a dj and i have my own dj equipment a salon wont help me to carry my speakers etc

but a suv will be able to carry most of my speakers in the boot without taking passengers seats like in a salon

then on fuel consumption you can get the average engine size eg honda cr v 2litre engine

african people we always get wrong cars for the job eg every month you visit mum or dad in the rural area and the road are bad but you find one getting a luxury salon than average suv

Hello house. I have observed lately that whenever i am caught in a traffic hold up,with the air condition on,my car temperature gauge begins to rise above normal.Would like to know the cause and also a remedy. I drive a pathfinder 2000 model.nissan.Thank you
it raise by how much ?

its normal to raise abit when the car is stationary, its very rare for the radiator fan to kick in when travelling at above 20mph why because cold air is blown into the radiator and the engine bay by the motion of the car, once you stop there is no more air flowing in so the temparature raises by 3-5 degress, then the fan takes over if the temperature reaches the trigging number

Well the mechanic said he did the following:

1. Changed my plugs (9k for four of them)
2. Cleaned the throttle head (that is where the air intake hose from the air filter joins) he said he did not remove the head just cleaned the area with thinner.
3. Serviced the four injectors, said he removed them and flush them, that they have 12 holes unlike the usual 6 older models have. Said he made sure the were spraying well then coupled them back

I noticed that some fluid (maybe fuel leak was on the first injector even after a long drive which heat from the engine should have had it evaporated, didn't check the others). Could it mean the seals on the injectors are bad due to removing and cleaning with thinner?
did he touch the MAP sensor ? especially if the thinner got contact with MAP sensor

Exactly the same issue i am having now. It pushes forward even when i am braking. And its consuming plenty fuel. I disconnected the battery and reconnect after 10secs which cleared the check engine light but it came back on. Please how much did you pay for the injector head black switch?
your throttle seems to be a bit tight whether its carbon deposit or something else, hence when you brake you feel that the car is fighting to keep on going it, meaning when you brake you let go of the accelerator/gas pedal the throttle stay open let more air meaning car contiunes with same speed even when you foot is off the gas pedal

try by cleaning the throttle body check any carbon built up its a DIY job if you are good with your hands, use throttle body cleaner than any other unrecommended chemicals

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41yFXjibtLY

you still need to get your car scanned for the check engine light

Good perspective to look at it from. I agree with you, it's not the traffic per se. That was just to argue from. But don't you think even if people are able to read highway codes and all, they would still flout it at some time. Since the road laws are not even properly enforced, the highway codes will achieve nothing in the end.
I'm guessing there are road laws in Nigeria, but certainly no awareness and enforcement of these laws. Until people are arrested and charged for negligent driving, I don't think this will stop. This is what is obviously missing.
yes its about the road rules being enforced

the problem is that in african a car is symbol of status, even when you are wrong the car you drive can make you get away with it

but it doesnt matter what car you drive but how good you follow the law

12 years ago here in UK the police had that perception if you drove a decent average car they would rarely stop you, the perception was that s/he with that car can afford insurance (human judgement) then it changed especially if you were black ther 1st thing they would suspect you was may you are doing drugs they would stop you based on the good car you are driving

now it has changed there is what is called automatic number place recognition its reads you number place and by the time the stop you they know the registered onwer etc what is left is you saying what makes sense to them and the infor on the data base
Car TalkRe: Help! 2008 Honda Accord Has High Idle @1500rpm by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:42pm On Jan 31, 2015
the trouble free cleaning of injectors is done by a chemical (am UK based that how we do it on most our customers) there is a chemical you put in the fuel tank and it mixes with fuel and it cleans the injectors (this depends if a genuine working chemical is avilable in nigeria)

at our workshop we have never really take out and injector and clean it we always give the customers 2 options buy the injector cleaner if it doesnt work go for an new or used injector

this is very rare on petrol, injector failure is common on diesels

also UK petrol from most garages is not fake, not mixing of other chemicals to make more volumes and gas lossong its OCTANE that it would damage injectors but in african its another story the seller always want to

using thinners is not recommned as it eats away the rubber seal, you will end up having a leaking injector

the other best way of keeping your injector much saver is buying fuel from well known good quality service sation (there are people who buy fuel from BP SERIVCE SATION AND THEY ONLY PUT IN 97 OCTANE FUEL )

ABOUT ACTANE watch this vide

Car TalkRe: Negligent Driving In Nigeria by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:18pm On Jan 31, 2015
the problem here is not traffic but

1 basic reading of the highway code aka what the law requires you to do in the road as road user in these case there is traffic but the law requires us to move over/ create space for ambulance, fire bridge, bomb disposal to pass through

2 the basic emplemation of law i.e police and relevent authorities following through how a road user should follow the road rules

3 i think automatic car have made it worse in africa, these car have made it very easy for people to drive and learn more while they drive without the basic teaching of the highway code from both a driving school and person as an individaul, i left my native country zimbabwe almost 15 years ago and most car where manual (just like the coloniser the british) and now all the imports of second hand cars from japan are automatic and every jack and jill can drive just as it has happened in nigeria most of your cars are american made and are automatics one can teach him self to drive then comes corruption i will go on to buy a driving licence

so imagine and self taught to drive since its easy with an automatic, then i go on to buy an officail driving licence but i dont know anything from the highway code do you think thing i will pull over to let a flashing ambulance, fire engine or bomb disposal trucks pass?

these how i see it

here in you if your licence is for an automatic and you are caught driving an manual, you get procecuted for that even though you are a good driver with an manual, you still get arrested and taken to court

cocoduck:
A 2001 RAV4 battery want dead, so we had to change it, but after swapping the battery the engine refused to start and the starter motor cranks very well, so I am VERY SURE it is not the starter, and before then the car would start normally ( before the battery died on the road) and now the security LED light on the left of the Steering blinks repeatedly, so we did everything like wait for how many minutes and disconnected the ECU but to no avail, the somebody called another person (Not a technician, just a spare parts dealer) and he came and removed I think EFI fuse, and took a piece of wire and only he and God knows exactly what he did on the fuse compartment under the steering and turned the keys and the engine started like before.
So please can you guys explain however detailed or not what exactly he did? Pleas guys that, cost me some thick CASH.
its hard sometimes to pin point problems, especially in case may be in swapping the battery one fuse was blown, you mentioned checking the fuses but you didnt say it clearly that was it after it failed to start or when the technician was checking to find the faulty from the way you discribe it it seems like the technician bridged the blown out fuse with wire and it started (my own conclusion)

like i always say find time to find your car's manual and read it to get the basic information you need to know as the driver to the car, if you have basic knowledge of your fuses am sure you would have asked him which fuse did s/he bridge or whatever he did

always ask what the mechanic is doing to your car it always helps you if the problem happens again

I was assuming that if the key ignition can be changed to the push button type then it will come with the associated bluetooth key and all. Though the door will still need to be locked with a key except that it too can be changed to the bluetooth keyless entry type.

stop showing ignorance child labour is that painful but women still give birth anyway. Unlike some people who think they deserve platinum awards simply because they work 40hrs a week and pay half the bills (and the wife is paying the other half).

dont complain if your wife wishes not to take care of you properly when you are sick because she feels she might lose her attraction to you if she does then.

but you can use the number of sacrifices she makes for you as a measure of her love for you right?

so because some women don't want their husbands there, other women should automatically want the same thing?

which is very illogical because u cannot compare an 8hr shift to child labour, its not the same thing! Its the 21st century and there are a lot of women who labour to put food on the table but you dont here them making noise about it.

women are doing both, putting food on the table and giving birth, so why are you trying to make seem like the greatest thing a black man can accomplish is putting food on the table? undecided

Thats because its the need of support that counts the most to her.

If your wife doesnt show you the kind of support you would want her to show u ( be it in your job or achieving your dreams) because she feels you will not die if she doesnt support you, so there is no point in doing so. how would you feel? More loved? more respected?

so woman can only want something because they saw someone else getting it, not because its something they personally want? undecided

So we can safely say its okay for a woman to not show her husband support in achieving his dreams, so long she keeps their house clean the rest really doesn't matter.
stop reading between the lines

the basic message is, women shouldnt use it as tools to be shown love

The pain of child birth is as intense as breaking 5bones at the same time, so what does that one require? Spiritual strength? undecided

All you are just asked is to be present and help her feel at ease, having at least one face she knows during that critical moment to support and console is all thats needed from your part but you are acting as if its the same as requesting him to walk to pluto and back undecided
really if it was that intense women wouldnt give birth twice

anyway am not against the idea of being there if one wishes to be there

but it shouldnt used as way to measure how much i love my wife

some women dont even want there husbands to be there

my point is this some women use it as tool to measure how much she is loved or as way to a man how painful is childbirth , so that the reason i gave the example that how many man take their wives to work to show them how hard is the work they do ? the most likely answer is no why because whether easy or not you must work for your family and there should be any special treatment home because you work so hard because thats what you supposed to do

the same on women who want men to be there during child birth, whether he is there or not in the room it will still be painfull thats how god made it, and him being not there in the room and compare him with your friend's husband doesnt make him a less loving husband, once you start to compare you favour the side you like but it doesnt mean the side you doesnt like doesnt have love they do and they have their own way of showing love but the problem would be you as person you, you want him to show it the way you have seen next door, which is not this natural way of showing love

We express love differently and once you want your partner to change based on a character of someone, the troubles beings

So women who also labour to put food on the table can always come up with excuses for not doing something for their husbands simply because they get paid too then?

So if your wife decides not to do something for you because she feels she might loose her sexual attraction to you, it would not bother you?

Its funny how other people may think that they deserve partners who love them unconditionally and are willing to compromise for them, yet they cannot be that person for their partner.

I have come across guys who aren't as supportive as the wife will want them to be when she is pregnant and when he gets sick and she is not as compassionate as the guy would expect her to be becauase (when she was pregnant she wasnt the first to get pregnant) he wasnt the first man to fall sick with that disease they cry foul.

If you feel your ego comes before her during a critical time, do not be surprised when she starts putting other things before you. After all you give what you get.
you are missing the point am saying by nature men do hard work but they dont moan about it they know that there is no two ways about it has to be done to put food on the table

all am saying at this point is that divison of labour was divided by how strong we naturally just like you find a woman who doesnt bother to know how to change the tyre of her car, by the division of labour due to gender who would rather find a passing by man change the tyre for her because he was raised to believe that jobs that need natural streghtn is for men but if she really circumstance for her to change the tyre she will
