coogar: in which world would you even see a governor overseeing the seizure of a widow's goods? is oshiomole police? it's not his jurisdiction, he's just being a tyrannical dingbat.
Lols. Coogar abeg o..ur blood dey hot like tiger. And true, the governor acted beyond the powers of his office. In Nigeria, it is not uncommon even if it was the first time it would happen. In addition to how he responded to the woman, another thing which saddens me is that there are 'humans' who see nothing wrong with his conduct. Haba! People can be heartless!
PoliticsRe: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by Zither(m): 11:57pm On Nov 28, 2013
rudedough: You have freedom of speech.

You should watch those emotions friend. You're raging now.

I'm not in Nigeria, I didn't study in Nigeria, I'm not practising in Nigeria. That country is a $hithole and your irrational behaviour is as a result of long term suffering and frustrations.

You've even accepted hawking as a norm and a way to create employment. I see Nigerians take crimes to mean Robbery, murder or what not.

Crime is breaking the law. She committed a crime and she will face the consequences.

Over speeding, DUI, loitering and wandering, armed robbery, murder, etc are 1 and the same crime. It's left for the court to decide which is capital or otherwise.

And unless you have a degree in law, I wouldn't advice you to dive into this kind of debate. You should rather pick a less complex discussion like football where you'll be more comfortable.
Would it have killed the Governor to display a merciful conduct? Please, as much as you may like to think this has nothing to do with professional callings. Whoever is without mercy is a marauding beast. I take my leave.
PoliticsRe: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by Zither(m): 11:30pm On Nov 28, 2013
It baffles me some folks don't see any wrong in what Oshiomole said to the woman. It is a pity. They define his actions through the spectacles of the Law. Yet everybody knows the Law is an ass. That is not even the point. Upholding the Law is not a license to be inhuman. Great and respected leaders are those who display the golden attribute of mercy when the occasion calls - something Oshiomole evidently lacks....something all those who condoned his action lack.
PoliticsRe: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by Zither(m): 10:30pm On Nov 28, 2013
adino: Most Nairalanders are so daft, I have been all over this thread informing them that the woman was waiting for a wheelbarrow or taxi to take her goods home, but they foolishly refuse to read. That woman is not a street trader for Christ sake. I will try and use my contacts in Benin to see if I can have her contacts, and by God grace create a thread for her here.
May God Help Her.
It is not about her source of income. The public sympathy towards her is as a result of the Governor's response to her. "Go and die" is pretty foul and obnoxious use of language by a Governor to his subject. The effect of his callous statement ripples across the State to the Country as a whole.
PoliticsRe: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by Zither(m): 10:13pm On Nov 28, 2013
rudedough: cheesy cheesy Your research and conclusion is very funny to be honest.

I'm not a business student but I took some optional courses in Business Management in my UG. Let's address your comment by bits.

You are very wrong when you said buying unregulated goods helps Nigerians with viable options. It doesn't, it helps kill the economy.

Hawkers don't pay taxes, they don't rent shops, they don't employ workers, they don't even get to pay utility or taxes. So how does this help Nigerians? You should stop being cheap and learn to support the system.

No! Roadside sellers are not interested in average returns, as a matter of fact they get maximum profit.

Imagine an SME owner buys an orange for N10 and sells at N30. He shares his profit with workers, Govt, shop owner, utility. His net profit might amount to N5 but everyone is happy.

However, a hawker buys the same orange for N10 and sells it for N20, he doesn't pay any worker, tax or utility. His net profit is N10 but he has only made himself happy. Who's making maximum profit here? Who's stealing jobs instead of creating one?

* They don't grow their business so they don't employ workers. We need SMEs to employ our workforce.

* They don't own a shop, they don't pay rents or utility. This is very bad for Government. Government need more shop owners, more shop owners means more employment and more revenues.

* They don't pay taxes which is uncivilised and a daylight robbery of any economy. By law they would be arrested and imprisoned.

* They make the environment dirty. Dirty environment means more work for the Govt. That is they don't give to the Government yet they steal from tax payers.

Roadside hawkers don't create jobs rather they steal jobs. You need to look deeply to understand.

There are many more but I guess I'll leave that to the economic and business professionals.

Nigerians should stop thinking "ME" and start thinking "US"

Your economic analysis is obviously out of place and irrelevant to the central topic here...what has economic analysis got to do with the callous disposition of a Governnor towards the governed as reflected in his words that she should go an die?

PoliticsRe: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by Zither(m): 9:34pm On Nov 28, 2013
rudedough: You didn't read the 8th paragraph properly. Take a deep breath and re-read the paragraph.

BTW we're talking about roadside trading here. It's killing SMEs and people are crying in their shops, they pay Govt taxes, rentals, utility while these illegal roadside sellers steal the market.

Until you learn to suppress those emotions and do the right thing, you can't even lead a family lest a state or a country cos people would always cry.
Does that justify his telling her to 'Go and die'? Do you even understand the negative impact of his careless statement? Is there any justification for it? Forgivable - yes but @ the same time highly condemnable and disapproving especially coming from a State leader.
PoliticsRe: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by Zither(m): 9:24pm On Nov 28, 2013
tellwisdom: What is wrong in that word?? angry huh
GO TO HELL!! angry
PoliticsRe: Go And Die - Oshiomole Tells A Widow! by Zither(m): 9:12pm On Nov 28, 2013
rudedough: Seriously IDGAF. She shouldn't be trading on the pedestrian.

Sentiments aside, these road side traders are killing SMEs nationwide. It doesn't matter if you're poor, a widow or desperate, you must be mindful of the law.

A roadside seller pays little or no rental but an SME pays rental and utility. Their capital expenditure reflects on the prices of their goods.

That is, a road side seller can sell an orange for N20 Naira and make maximum profit while a shop owner will sell the same orange for N30 and make very minimal profit.

But who's going to buy the same orange for N30 from the shop when you can buy it cheaper at N20 from the roadside seller?

They're killing SMEs period.

Let's skip the emotions and look further. The Governor may be wrong with his choice of words but he's angry and everyone should frown at road side traders.

But why in the name of popsicle do Nigerians like anything illegal?
Mr, your train of thought is on the veritable track of confusion. Nobody is condemning him for the lawful exercise of his duty. His approach towards it is most inhuman. His rude, crude and unfeeling action speaks volumes about how little he cares for his subjects as a leader.

Guys, if you haven't downgraded to v7 and you want to do that you can use the link I posted above. It works just fine. It is what I used.
PhonesRe: Links To Downgrade From BBM8 To BBM7 by Zither(m): 7:37pm On Nov 28, 2013
Op, you are so on point. I upgraded to bbm v8 yesterday but couldn't hold a decent chat afterwards. It kept hanging, took forever to perform any action and was unbearably frustrating. I downgraded to v7 using the link www.blackberry.com/bbm - All those saying the Op is peddling rumours the least you could do is investigate before pronouncing your misguided opinions. The negative reviews of bbm v8 is overwhelming on blackberry world. At d same time, Op, your effort is much appreciated.

Extreme folly in action. Circumstances are harsh, guaranteed. People in worse shoes have risen above their personal problems and are the ones who inspire others today. Tough times don't last but tough people do.
RomanceRe: Ugly Girls Have Better Guys, WHY? by Zither(m): 12:43pm On Nov 10, 2013
True, Op is not far from the truth. Men only go for what is beautiful and abandon what is ugly. If they go after ugly girls it is because there is something beautiful about them they can't resist, something they cannot afford to lose. If they go less after beautiful girls then it is obvious there is something about the beautiful girls that repels them, something so ugly that they cannot imagine themselves keeping her. BEAUTY IS SKIN DEEP. Most guys are more attracted to intelligent girls, girls with strong moral fibre, girls who won't compromise their standards for money or selfish ambition. In the end, I discover that a majority of beautiful girls lack this admirable qualities that really impresses guys. Guys might play or fool around with them but they will not be foolish to keep them. Wild and pretty, unrestrained, gold-digging chicks are not exactly the type guys are willing to exchange wedding vows with.
RomanceRe: Nigerian Girls Are Not Bad, Its The Guys Who Are Foolish. by Zither(m): 8:17pm On Oct 21, 2013
Op, I think it is most unfair to level the blame solely on the male folk. It is true many guys entice girls with money in return for love but have you no idea the extent many desperate girls will go so as to 'get' that rich dude/married man who will foot the bills for their insatiable material acquisition not giving a hoot if they wreck genuine relationships or homes in the process?
Op, really your outburst against the male folk is extremely prejudiced, lacking a proper foundation of investigation before conclusion. You don't know the half of what most girls will do to win the attraction of a 'loaded' dude.

BusinessRe: Forex Trading Strategies by Zither(m): 10:22am On Aug 29, 2013
Op, I only want to point out something you may have overlooked among others. Since you started this thread we are yet to know the strategy you apply in trading forex. Nothing is known about how and when you trade, why you pick a trade or what currencies/assets you trade.
See, your anger that people have not responded as you would have liked is not justified because you never even responded to the title of your thread.
That is just my observation. It means the problem lies in your approach not the people.
