Unless the First Lady has a death wish, then she should appear in a debate with him. However, this is unnecessary as this debate is not geared towards thrashing present national issues rocking the country with the aim to proffer lasting solution to the economic, religious, and social crisis threatening the peace and unity of the country. The section of Nigerians who clamour for a showdown between PEJ and Prof. Wole Soyinka have only the ulterior motive of gleaning sadidstic satisfaction at the public humiliation of the former warranted by her improper use of the English language. What is being debated (if there is at all) has no significance to the listeners...what they want to hear is that blunder that will make them burst into laughter...is that any reason for calling a public debate between two national figures? |

First, before I speak a word concerning this issue, I must let you guys know that in keeping with the commandments of the Bible we should not use this discussion as an excuse for verbally attacking each other. Be you Methodist, Presbyterian, Wesleyan, Protestant, Catholic, Anglican, Pentecostal and others - remember, DIFFERENT PARTS BUT ONE BODY IN CHRIST! For in Christ there is no Jew, or Gentile, or master, or slave, or free cos we are one. Fighting each other will only amount to helping the devil to accomplish his ultimate work of division. @ the topic...I have often asked myself why Catholics worship Mary and found it rather baffling. However, a Catholic friend explained that they do not 'worship' Mary but honour her. Well, that may be logical but it doesn't explain 'why' they honour her. Most importantly, does the Gospel and Letters written by the early Apostles under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit encourage the practice of 'honouring' Mary? From the argument I have read so far I understand that she is honoured and that she is a medium of intercession to Jesus Christ. This, I find, is a misconception of the Scriptures. Yes, we give honour to whom honour is due and Mary is deserving of no less. She will be called 'blessed' for all generations but that does not account for the place she is given in our prayers to the Father. Mary has no role to play nor Scriptural standing with God whereby she offers intercessions to Christ on our behalf. This is obviously and clearly unscriptural. It is a gross deviation from the teachings of the Bible that God is 'able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us' among myriads of verses demonstrating the fact that we have the right to come before the throne of God and ask so that we shall receive or seek so that we shall find. Mary, a mere human who found grace and favour before God, has nothing, no part to play in our prayers to the Father. The only persons involved in our prayers to the Father are Jesus Christ himself (Hebrews 7:25, Romans 8:34) and the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:26). The Scriptures did not mention Mary as an intercessor of the believers...this interpretation was given by humans for whatever reasons or motives they had. I don't need to say anymore concerning this. I just hope that you make your research and discover the fact that Mary has no 'special' position with God....God has no favourites - not even Mary. |

hmm...Wole Soyinka cannot be more right...here he pointed out the excesses of a woman whose actions lack constitutional backing in addition to violating same except that they have roots in her domestic position to the President, but some zealots have publicly flayed him for airing his very note worthy observation regardless of her unconstitutionally autocratic disposition in the crisis bedeviling Rivers state. His comment houses no other import than that she has no political or national role as defined by the constitution or any law and therefore her actions are in excess of her mere domestic position to the President in which case, as the learned Prof aptly and succinctly phrases it, she should be a lady before being a first lady.... I know the constitutionally blind zealots will take the opposite train of the Prof's argument but whether it be black, red, green, or your worst color..the truth is the truth....the ProF is an icon of truth to his followers contrary to PEJ's statement. 2 Likes |

This is the society we live in where desperados see armed robbery as a lucrative profession. They refuse to work for a living like the majority...rather they would waste money on drinks, party, womanising... and then beat up or kill innocent people when depriving them of their hard earned money and property in order to replenish the ones recklessly wasted because they don't know the meaning of hard work. TO those robbers burnt like a disgusting heap of waste...that's what you are and may you continue to burn in the next world for choosing to terrorise peace loving and hard working people who earn their bread and butter with diligent hands....not by forcefully depriving others of their goods at gun point.... Op, great essay on the Strictest Leader. @ topic...I have seen, times without number, this sequel to the elections.....clamours, divisions, factions and sections aligning themselves for or against the competitors.....and in the end, the Favourite contestant who wins the elections falls very short of expectations. I won't let ill-conceived notions of people have any part to play in formulating my judgment about a leader's capability. I don't like Buhari any more than I do an old piece of music player that has accumulated dust over the years from disuse. However, if he can deliver, to hell with personal sentiments. I would rather return to using that old piece but sturdy junk that has continued to satisfy my need for music than the 'fresh from the oven' music player that fails to meet my high expectations of it. It is extremely improper and careless to build the Nation with mere sentiments. Sentiments change and flicker like flames in the wind but judgments of character, quality and capability withstand the test of years. Numerous times, sentiments have led us to untold difficulties like this political and economic quagmire we find ourselves but it is time for judgment, judgment birthed from informed observation, to take the front seat of our decisions rather than mere sentiments devoid of any knowledge save hearsay. I am not for Buhari (honestly I think I don't like the idea of GMB as our president) or against him...I have observed (and so have you) that Buhari has a track record of achievements that speak for themselves therefore he is a fitting candidate for the seat of power. He has wielded it skilfully before...logically he will do it again if given the chance. However, it does not mean others cannot perform better. Of course they can. The question is should we gamble the fate of the country into the hands of an unreliable abstract concept such as 'Sentiment' or choose a well treaded path to nation building through the well known and trusted concept of 'Judgment'? If there are better substitutes then by all means let the best man win. I hate this anti and pro stances we always assume especially when it has never produced any tangible fruit for the country, short term or long term, since their practise ages ago. 1 Like |

When I tested it on my virtual account and price touched the Fibonacci number, I entered a rise bet and won. I felt it was a stroke of luck and abandoned the strategy. Op, the question is really simple and should not attract much debates. If God told me to kill a person I would not and never obey that voice. Reason: the Bible commands that we test every spirit. This is to keep us from falling prey to a voice other than God's. I don't want to come across with a preachy tone but a good Christian should know the heart of God revealed in His Word in order to discern properly the voice of God from the voice of an evil spirit. I will have nothing to do with that 'voice' because the Word of God says that we should obey the commandments of God and His commandments are to love our God with all our hearts and our strength and we should also love our neighbours as we love ourselves. It is also written God is not an author of confusion. The commandments 'thou shall not kill, thou shall not steal..are summed up in the word 'Love'. If His command is to love then any contrary command does not come from Him. The theme of the Bible and the christian Faith revolves around the word 'Love'. You might argue that if I claim to love God then I should obey His command by 'killing' but you have overlooked the fact that the two conditions in that command are loving Him and loving others.....even your enemies. When they violate each other, then the voice is not God's. And you raised the issue of Abraham as a basis of argument...including Elijah who killed the 400 prophets of Baal...and I hope you know the story of Jephthah who had to sacrifice his daughter as a result of the vow he made to God if He granted him victory. If you asked me this question in their time and I am positive I heard from God then I would only be hypocritical to say I would not kill. I would. However, it was a far different time and dispensation from the one we have now. The Law was the standard of serving God...it was in operation during the time of Abraham, Elijah, Elisha, Jehu, Jephthah among others. The Law required 'an eye for an eye, a tooth for tooth, the stoning to death of adulterers etc...there was a different kind of life That was when Christ had not mediated between us and God...He had not offered the permanent sacrifice of His body on the cross for our sins. When He did His sacrifice established a new dispensation where love became the foundation of the christian Faith...a way of life which the prophets of old prayed to see...being that they did not receive the Holy Spirit of Love and Truth in full measure like we do today. In this new dispensation, say during the time of the Apostles after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, if Abraham were alive and you asked him this question, he would simply tell you it is the voice of the devil and you would do well to shun it. The thing is should any christian kill or destroy another life or be ready to do so simply because he felt 'God' told him to do it then you have found a lazy christian who does not read or know anything about the Word of God and who is also the ultimate tool by which the devil can implement his evil designs.... what if 'God' told the person to kill his Mother and Father and probably his siblings or children I have no doubt such fool would carry out that evil mission to the letter and yet he will continue to regard himself as a true christian....pity 1 Like |

Sammy, you said your strategy borders on supply and demand analysis. I have also seen potential in it since it is supply and demand that moves the market. The fact is that building a strategy around it using technical analysis seems to be a different matter entirely. Do u have a strategy based on it? I am still on demo and am a reversal and divergence trader. I am currently working on a strategy that rhymes with my personality. I shall be contributing my discoveries and results and also sharing what I have learnt...profits and losses. Nice thread. |

History, they say, always repeats itself. The governor has displayed his total lack of skills to handle crisis bedeviling the state. Rather, he has ignorantly helped to increase the surge of criminal activities that have spread like cancer in his domain by granting citizens the tools they need to wreck havoc on each other and on innocent citizens alike. He is only a wishful thinker if he thinks he wields the power to call their actions in order once unleashed to the society or that he commands their obedience. Even if he does, it is short-lived. It is only a matter of time before that region is declared another red zone. That is how they begin...with good intentions until their lust for blood is insatiable, then they will invent an excuse for their wanton destruction of human lives and properties. The funds used in procuring arms should have been channeled towards recruiting jobless and idle youths of the state into the police force. This will achieve the effect of taking out many from the streets with criminal tendencies and propensities to be profitably engaged in discharging their duties for the state. That way, he would have reduced the percentage of crime in the state even if it was by any insignificant number...it is a start. He should also have concentrated efforts to equip the crime-fighters with more sophisticated arms and facilities as well as furnishing them with training on combating crime without endangering the lives of innocent citizens. I can't imagine how the police, merely equipped with old, rusty pistols, guns, and dilapidated patrol vehicles/motorcycles should adequately and efficiently battle crime when the opposite party is in possession of more sophisticated arms, as well as fit and sturdy vehicles that will effect their escape in the event of capture...it is little wonder why crime seems to have the upper hand and many police men lose their lives in the process. This is a paramount objective that must be considered if the welfare of the state is to be duly preserved from harm. It is a wise investment that must be pursued if the state is to enjoy a greater measure of security. He should also enlist the help of the army if he is really serious to curb crime. The army and the police should work together in bringing about a lasting solution to the menace of crime and conflicts in the state...after all, two heads are better than one. Much as we may hate to admit it, the peace and welfare of the state and its communities cannot be entirely left in the hands of the police. Other agencies should be created whose duty it is to assist in battling crime by specializing in a particular activity. For example, an agency could be created whose sole duty is to assist the Force in the area of arms smuggling by mapping out the regions and paths in the state where perpetrators of crime are likely to engage in the exchange and reception of arms....this includes creeks, boundaries between states, forests and other less popular paths of transportation or travel that should be kept under permanent surveillance. This agencies should be accountable to the government of the state and their activities should be reviewed from time to time to ensure they don't deviate from their duties. Lastly, it is high time we used the old but effective strategy of 'setting a thief to catch a thief'. The police should seek the extensive knowledge of prisoners in their custody once involved in the case they are dealing with to help direct the police to the potential hideouts of the criminals or identify one or two of them who are wanted in the police net. This will help solve many crimes, not all. It may not be a popular strategy of crime fighting neither am I certain of the results but it is worth a shot so that no stone is left unturned in the process of eradicating crime. Of course these are but scratching the surface of solutions to combating crime. I am sure with the information and intelligent pieces of advice from top-ranking officers in the police force, the army, and those versatile in the field of crime at his disposal he should come up with a more effective and clear-sighted idea on how to trim, curtail and eradicate the spate of crime in his domain.....he needs not add fuel to fire by placing arms in the possession of citizens where he should be doing the opposite 1 Like |

Also tell me how the original purpose has been thwarted...It needs no special skills of observation to arrive at my conclusion. It was created after the civil war to foster good relations among the various ethnic regions and groups in the country so as to ensure that the war did not repeat itself. That was the sole purpose of the birth of NYSC. However, in the light of events that have taken place which have claimed numerous lives up North one can only conclude that the aim, which is to foster peace and union among the various parts of the country, has been utterly defeated. Now, NYSC would only be a ridiculous scheme if many parts of the North are marked out of the process as a result of the instability in the regions. On the other hand, deploying corps members into those red-zone regions would only amount to digging mass graves for them. Surely, you cannot opine that the scheme be restricted only to the more stable regions like the East, West, and South or that it should be reviewed and that the status quo in the North be taken into proper consideration to sustain the continuation of the scheme. Either way, the aim of the scheme has been thwarted by natural events that call for its discontinuation. Some folks are of the opinion that scrapping it would only result in the financial handicap of NYSC staff as well as hampering the opportunity of graduates to make a decent income before setting out to face the world. These are genuine generalizations. However, the proponents refuse to face the fact they are mere secondary benefits associated with the scheme. They cannot replace the original purpose of the scheme. They are mere 'incentives' whose value cannot be compared to the aim of Nation-wide peace, union and general goodwill. In the end, corps members will still have to grapple with a consistent means of survival. The scheme only delays it for a short period. It boils down to 'you' and not NYSC or the government to fashion out a means of earning a consistent income however decent just like the majority who did not attend schools or tertiary institutions like you but they are living fine because they have established a suitable means of income - modest or grand. This is why this benefit or advantage is only secondary. I have exhausted much of my opinion on this topic. My stand will not take any other position besides this - NYSC has lost its usefulness and should be scrapped so as to allow a better innovation that would not unnecessarily risk the lives of poor fellows to replace it. *Drops pen* 1 Like |

What a wreck NYSC has become. Its original purpose of existence has been thwarted and defeated. Of what use is NYSC to our numberless dead comrades? Of what use is NYSC to the thousands of bereaved mothers and fathers who tilled the soil with their fingers to provide their children the educational skills they would need to succeed in life? It is just a scheme that has outlived its usefulness. Those who are opposed to its being scrapped on the grounds that it is a way of earning money before facing the cold world of financial struggle may be right but the truth is they lack innovations and ideas that could better their lives even before graduating from their respective tertiary institutions. Look around and you will find many 'working' students who do not look forward to it as a result of the 'peanuts' the scheme offers - they have other legal and approved means of earning their income. The point is when something has ceased to produce the desired result and has lost its usefulness, there is no debating what to do - it should be done away with, scrapped, jettisoned...that it may create room for a better innovation or development to replace it. |

The one I found, NetQin mobile antivirus, does not work properly in the sense that after scanning it displays "cannot connect to the internet." 19 Year Old Boy Arrested For Raping His Mother [b]A teen raped his mother for revenge, according to police. Police said a Marshall County, Alabama teen raped his mother for revenge after an altercation with his brother. Police said 19-year-old Gary Helms, Jr., raped his 45-year-old mother at the trailer park in Willow Terrace Doyle Drive in Albertville. It is a twisted crime that police said Helms admits. "From what I understand the rape stemmed from an argument between him and his brother. And apparently they were arguing over a girlfriend. And the rape was some sort of revenge against his brother," Sgt. Jamie Smith of the Albertville Police Department said. It was an unusual retaliation on an innocent victim. Authorities said Helms' mother was apparently passed out drunk on the couch when the rape started. "During the attack she has come to recognize the assailant was her son," Smith said. That's when, according to the police report, the mother "tried to escape, but she was held down until the act was completed." "It's totally sick is what it is," Smith said. Helms was arrested and charged with the 1st degree rape of his own mother. Smith says it's hard to wrap the mind around this. "Shocked, very shocked would be a better way to describe it. That someone would do something of this nature. It's a shock to the conscience of the general public," Smith said. Helms is being held in the Marshall County Jail on bail of $100,000.
