Are we not being unfair to pastors (never thought I would ever write this about those They are not thieves, but conmen. They people who pay up and complain later are also crooks who want something for nothing. |
I agree with sauer's selection, although I have not read Nietzsche. May I add The End of Faith by Sam Harris to the pile. There is also a book edited by by Christopher Hitchens called The Portable Atheist. It is a collection of writing by various people like Omar Khayyam, Thomas Hobbs etc. 47 different articles. Karen Armstrong : the History of God, Islam:A Short History and The Bible: A Biography. I also recommend the Bible (which I have read and not just the bits the pastors and other clergy want you to read), and the Koran. It would certainly help if the theists actually read the whole book and not just selected passages which suit their positions. |
What did you expect? It was an evangelist church!!! What you get is 'speaking in tongues', smooth pastor seeking even more money from his already bankrupted congregation, prayers of destruction on their enemies, Church is not about love, it is about fear and damnation. |
Prosperity ministry. I could become a theist for this. Question for the business-minded - Which one should come first, the church or the bank? Question two - what percentage of the bank's turnover should I give the church in order to go to heaven? Question three - if I was wanted by EFCC, what would be a good country to Question Four - would I have share my ![]() |
jerty: ancel:I was on the crapper, and god appeared to me again (He seems to have a fascination with the toilet). He said, 'tell all the people of the world not to mess with my anointed, Zodiac and Riff-Raff. For verily I say unto you, if you insult my prophets, you will surely burn in the everlasting fire of the seven hells. But should you keep my commandment and honour my prophets, you shall surely get all your hearts desires.' He said,' Tell Ancel to make due reparation to my prophets, Zodiac and Riff-Raff, for the slurs. For verily I say to you, If Ancel does not sacrifice 100 cows at midnight, he shall surely burn in the fire of the 20 hells, and will not be entitled to the 1000 virgins who await the righteous.' thus said the lord. |

It was shortly after he spoke to you. He said 'tell Riff-Raff that he is no longer my prophet, as he left out the bit about money and jets.' He said, 'Zodiac, go forth and start a church, for it is written you will become a billionaire in five years. grace5:It is wonderful to see that you have direct communication with God. I thought that that was what Mutallab had with his God. Of course, pychiatrists would say that you were both hearing voices and are disturbed. But hey, god walks in mysterious ways. Doesn't he? |
obande, your point is ? |
I am sure that you will find some soon. ancel:This is a stupid post. Can anyone please prove that ancel exists?? |
Fant:Okay, let us tell the truth, THERE IS NO GOD!!!! Happy, now ![]() |
The whole of this thread is a joke. I have never come across such unmitigated stupidity in my life. michaeruu:If you were HIV positive, you are still HIV positive. You surely do not expect reasonable people to take your word for it that you have been cured. Show us the proof, subject yourself to proper rigorous examination by experts. We need to see the before and after. Last I knew, there is still no cure for HIV (not even in church). wirinet:So there are illnesses that God cannot cure. Surely a contradiction in terms, if you believe that God can cure illnesses. Defying medical explanation is not the same as being cured. Ultimately, you cousin died young of leukaemia. So no cure then.
the world has rejected his grace, what do you want him to do? you must come to God and follow his will b4 you demand for his blessings as if he owes you
And the point is May I remind you that Bimbo Odukoya died in a plane crash. Surely she had not rejected his grace.Reminds me of when I was diagnosed with diabetes. Whilst I accepted it in good grace and resolved to listen to the experts, my christian friends kept on 'rejecting it in Jesus's name.' Guess what, years later I am still diabetic, but, also, one of the 'rejecters' is now diabetic. She is far more eager than me when it comes to medication. My advice, if you ill, pray if you think it would help, see your pastor or a babalawo, sacrifice goats and cows if you think it would help, BUT go to hospital and see a doctor. And remember, some illnesses are incurable and people die of illnesses every day (christian and non christian). |
So a bunch of lost souls, misguided foreigners make their way to a Other countries award their citizens for winning the Nobel prize for medicine, physics and so on. Their citizens are given their countries' highest honours for their contributions to justice, child welfare, education (you begin to get my drift). "Watching Emmanuel TV, I cannot see myself fail to glorify God for giving this kind of gift and man of God to Nigeria. If you watch this TV channel, you will discover that the Synagogue Church of All Nations has made Nigeria one of the world's hottest spots for religious tourism. You see the trains of different nationals, see them receive healing and instant solution to their problems and it does not stop with the healing and deliverances that are wrought by God, but when you now look at the level of the charity works this man is rendering to Nigerians that deserve them you would be overwhelmed," he stated. It gets even crazier, this |
udennaa:Thank you for this Beyonce does not need prayers from morons like you. |

Only cars. How tight is the Mountain of Fire Ministries? What about money to fuel the cars and maintain them? On the other hand, how about assistance in finding jobs. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Give a man a fishing net, " You know the rest. |
realpastor:Nothing to expatiate on. Just pointing out that God (in whatever shape) appears to hate women. |
The OP is thoroughly convinced that anyone who doesn't run like a scared rat at this media hype is equal to the 'mockers' the Bible warned about. Every man to his own folly I say.I agree. any serious bible student would know that the world ended in 1914 (or was it 1918?). ![]() |
It is not only St. Paul that tells women not to preach. St. Peter does the same and it is also the same in the OT. I know most of you don't believe in the Priesthood but it may better help you understand why it is women are not to preach in the pulpit. Gen. 3:15; Luke 1:26-55; John 19:26; Rev. 12:1- Mary is God's greatest creation, was the closest person to Jesus, and yet Jesus did not choose her to become a priest. God chose only men to be priests to reflect the complimentarity of the sexes. Just as the man (the royal priest) gives natural life to the woman in the marital covenant, the ministerial priest gives supernatural life in the New Covenant sacraments. Judges 17:10; 18:19 – fatherhood and priesthood are synonymous terms. Micah says, “Stay with me, and be to me a father and a priest.” Fathers/priests give life, and mothers receive and nurture life. This reflects God our Father who gives the life of grace through the Priesthood of His Divine Son, and Mother Church who receives the life of grace and nourishes her children. In summary, women cannot be priests because women cannot be fathers. Mark 16:9; Luke 7: 37-50; John 8:3-11 - Jesus allowed women to uniquely join in His mission, exalting them above cultural norms. His decision not to ordain women had nothing to do with culture. The Gospel writers are also clear that women participated in Jesus' ministry and, unlike men, never betrayed Jesus. Women have always been held with the highest regard in the Church (e.g., the Church's greatest saint and model of faith is a woman; the Church's constant teaching on the dignity of motherhood; the Church's understanding of humanity as being the Bride united to Christ, etc.). Mark 14:17,20; Luke 22:14 - the language "the twelve" and "apostles" shows Jesus commissioned the Eucharistic priesthood by giving holy orders only to men. Gen. 14:10; Heb. 5:6,10; 6:20; 7:15,17 - Jesus, the Son of God, is both priest and King after the priest-king Melchizedek. Jesus' priesthood embodies both Kingship and Sonship. Gen. 22:9-13 - as foreshadowed, God chose our redemption to be secured by the sacrificial love that the Son gives to the Father. Matt. 26:26; Mark 14:22; Luke 22:19 - because the priest acts in persona Christi in the offering to the Father, the priest cannot be a woman. Mark 3:13 - Jesus selected the apostles "as He desired," according to His will, and not according to the demands of His culture. Because Jesus acted according to His will which was perfectly united to that of the Father, one cannot criticize Jesus' selection of men to be His priests without criticizing God. John 20:22 - Jesus only breathed on the male apostles, the first bishops, giving them the authority to forgive and retain sins. In fact, the male priesthood of Christianity was a distinction from the priestesses of paganism that existed during these times. A female priesthood would be a reversion to non-Christian practices. The sacred tradition of a male priesthood has existed uncompromised in the Church for 2,000 years. 1 Cor. 14:34-35 - Paul says a woman is not permitted to preach the word of God in the Church. It has always been the tradition of the Church for the priest or deacon alone (an ordained male) to read and preach the Gospel. 1 Tim. 2:12 - Paul also says that a woman is not permitted to hold teaching authority in the Church. Can you imagine how much Mary, the Mother of God, would have been able to teach Christians about Jesus her Son in the Church? Yet, she was not permitted to hold such teaching authority in the Church. Rom. 16:1-2 - while many Protestants point to this verse denounce the Church's tradition of a male priesthood, deaconesses, like Phoebe, were helpers to the priests (for example, preparing women for unclothed baptism so as to prevent scandal). But these helpers were never ordained. Luke 2:36-37 - prophetesses, like Anna, were women who consecrated themselves to religious life, but were not ordained. Isaiah 3:12 – Isaiah complains that the priests of ancient Israel were having their authority usurped by women, and this was at the height of Israel’s covenant apostasy.
Over half of humanity condemned on account of writings by men thousands of years ago, just because those men claimed that these are the words of the Lord. The commentary is even more interesting. Wasn't St. Paul the male misogynist who had a hang up about human sexuality? Get real, these passages, like everything else in the bible, are of no significance in today's world. This reminds me of a bunch of imams in Kwara who told the governor that he could not appoint a woman to a post where she would have authority over men. I bet they could not say such things if their mothers were around. |
Why just a form? If I was a pastor, I would want to see your CV, Tax clearance going back 20 years and you and your family going back 5 generations would have to be security cleared. Then when you arrive to see me, your car (that is if I haven't sucked you dry yet) would be searched, and you will be subjected to a most vigorous pat down by be security staff, supervised by my head of security (all former elite solders, preferably Israeli). You will then have to go through my full body scanner, After which you will wait in a sterile room for 15 minutes, closely observed through CCTV. After all, as an 'anointed man of God' one cannot let every Tom, Dick and Harry have unlimited access to one. All the above would be waived if you were a millionaire or a politician who is in office or is likely to ![]() |

The pastor who used the name of God to defraud hundred of his followers began his scam in 2006 when he registered an organisation known as Christian Millionaires Club through which he persuaded his victims to part with their resources with an assurance that bountiful rewards await them here on earth and in heaven. If I promised you a fantastic return on your money, would you invest with me? Probably not, as you would think this is a 419er in action. If on the other hand, I call myself Pastor (or Evengelist, Bishop, Elder, Prophet, Imam etc) Zodiac and put God into the equation, a lot of mugus would rush in. I am sure that the only reason those fools invested their money (probably ill-gotten anyway) with the 'anointed man of God' is because God had told him that their money would be multiplied 20 times over. Why did the EFCC get involved? What work would the investors have done to earn the fantastic amounts they were looking forward to. Pastor Inyang should have being given an award for defrauding the greedy fools who sought to make make something out of nothing. (I laugh in tongues) |
Wasting my time in church, listening to people speaking in tongues (urgh). Needless to say, did not understand a word of what was said. There was a lot of 'you will be richer in 2010 than in 2009,' '2010 is the year of plenty'. Friend who |

Watch how Satan has blinded the minds of people, blinding them from reality.Forgive me for being so naive, but I thought that this is a work of fiction (in other words not true). Just like Harry Potter is fiction. I must be seriously possessed by demons, as my collection is full of hip hop, soul, jazz, rock etc. I even like some 'Christian' music, even though I do not believe the nonsense they sing about. The Christian life must be boring, read nothing but the bible and non intelligent books from people like Ashimolowo, do not listen to music for fear of demonic possession and most certainly do not think for yourself - you have John Todd (former illuminatist - what is that in plain English?), Adeboye, Bakare and others to tell you what to think and when to think. One would laugh save for the fact that seemingly intelligent and well educated people actually believe this crap. |
insight04:So he is a good pastor due to his 'unique British/American/African authoritative accent.' Can somebody please tell me what this means? This effectively rules out any pastor with a Nigerian accent, I guess. Just goes to show you how superficial believers are. |
Founder of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Ola Makinde and other men of God have predicted hope and better days for Nigeria in 2010, saying that things will get better.Yawn!!!!! Is it that time of the year again Does anyone remember the predictions these morons made last year. |
Dr. Adegbite is doing his usual mental gymnastics. He has been doing it for years. A man tries to blow up a plane, citing Islam as his motivation. His spiritual mentors are very learned in the Quran, and can quote extensively from the Quran for support. To claim that Islam abhors violence is the result of selective reading of the book. The reality is that one can take from any religious tome whatever one wants from the book. According to him, Islam, as a religion of peace, abhorred violence and forbade extra-judicial killing of people.Even he knows that this is not true. It may well be that, as the Christians do with unpleasant parts of the bible , he has chosen to pretend that all those suras that advocate the killing of 'infidels' do not exist. However, it is dishonest to describe Islam, or indeed any other religion, as a religion of peace. Mutallab was acting in the name of Islam, was influenced by Islam, therefore, we can link his actions to Islam. Dr. Adegbite may not be happy with this, but it is true. |
Me thinks that there is some jealousy at work here. Think of the man's achievements - bleaching, womanising, corruption (lots more, but I cannot think of any more right now). I beg, lef de man alone. Wetin concern you. Alao-Akala (Yellow fever) for president. ![]() |
suedu:What is this nonsense about 'anointed men of God'? Since when is criticising another man become an offence against god? All these guys are crooks fooling the masses with fairy tales. Yet we hang unto every piece of tripe that comes from their lips, even as they promise us untold wealth whilst living off tithes. Adeboye with OBJ, TB Joushua with Atta Mills- so what. It tells us more about the mentality of our leaders, who instead of working of the benefit of their people, go around seeking superstitious solutions to the problems of the country. They are always calling on Jehovah and Allah to solve the problems we face. How stupid are we?? |
All miracles are fake and unverifiable. There are no miracles. |
2009ice i call it. God has been so faithful to me this year. He delivered me from all forms of sickness, made me see the ending of the year cos so many people i know passed away this year.Strange - what did he do for those people who died? Some sort of punishment for their sins. There seems to be some sort of selfishness attached to belief, 'As long as I am okay, screw the rest.' hettie26th:Who else do you blame? God, according to you, is omnipotent. He is responsible for all things. If you believe in God, of course, he is to blame for all problems. Likewise, he is responsible for all good. Believers cannot eat their cake and have it. |
