The Prosecutor, Mr. James Okorie, told the court that the accused persons sometime in May, 2011, at Ayoredex Medical Centre, 66, Boladale St., conspired to confine 18-year old Ukeh by locking her up.
Okorie said that the accused persons had deprived the victim of her liberty by forcefully detaining her in an uncompleted building with intent to obtain money from her parents.
He said Ukeh was confined in the building for one week and that she was traumatised to the extent of attempting suicide by drinking a substance suspected to be petrol.
Okorie said following police investigation, the accused persons were arrested and detained.
He said the offence was contrary to Sections 517, 365 and 327 of the Criminal Code.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to the accused persons, Mr. Olarenwaju Ayo, applied for their bail.
Magistrate Paul Ojo, granted them bail in the sum of N250, 000 and one surety in like sum each, and adjourned the case to December 14 for trial.

I think this inane, rascally and cowardly behavior of Lagos State got to stop. For goodness sake, if those people broke the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria they should be tried by a competent court and punished in accordance to the law. It is very idiotic to even begin to assume you can successful deport people in their own country.

The Anambra State Government should also stop being complicit in the illegality, they should promptly transport back those individual back to Lagos (if they so desired). Lagos, nay Nigeria, belongs to all Nigerians.

Like Onlytruth aptly noted in his first comment, if Lagos is tired of being part of Nigeria, they should do the needful. The Federal Government indeed needs to step in to stop this rascally and cowardly behavior.

And IGBOS (and non-indigenes) should not vote ACN/APC in Lagos in 2015, this sort of bad behavior and tribalism should never be rewarded.

Batch A

Slowly and steadily we will ship away the destitute and fraudulent ones among them who just come here to either stretch our infrastructure or give us bad names through their vices

Its easy to give out even 1,000 plots of eroded land

We've had enough of the crimes.

We have seen too clearly that their contributions to our GDP is negligible

https://www.nairaland.com/1367007/examining-lagoss-gdp-figures#17010297

The major income or revenue earner for many of them that come here is crime and this is the premise on which some of them will come here claiming that Lagos will be nothing without them

An eyewitness said when he saw the trailer stop at night, he initially thought it was carrying contraband goods and perhaps wanted to beat the customs officials by using early morning to come into Onitsha, adding that he was shocked to see human beings were forced out of the lorry.

The eyewitness, who simply gave his name as John, said: “I was woken up by the light from the police escort van when it reached the fly over. I noticed that a trailer was coming behind the police patrol van and suddenly the trailer stopped and they began to ask these people to come down.

“It was then I noticed that there were some people who could not alight from the trailer on their own and the driver and some policemen helped them and brought them down. Immediately after dropping them, the lorry and the police van made a “U” turn and headed back to Head Bridge”.

“When the day broke, I saw about 70 persons that looked malnourished, some of them were already insane.”

According to him, some of the people who looked healthy started running into the commercial city after they were brought into the town, while the apparently insane ones stayed till the day break when residents of the city came to catch a glimpse of them and started buying food and other consumables for them.

Some people at Upper Iweka said some of the people were not Igbos as they spoke Yoruba and Edo. At about 1 pm yesterday, few of the deportees were still hanging around the area.

One of them who gave her name as Chima said he hails from Abia State, adding that she was arrested some time in May last year by a group of people in uniform on her way to Okokomaiko in Lagos where she lived.

She said that she was kept in a dark room that looked like a warehouse for several days along with many other people, adding that up till the time she was brought into Onitsha, she never knew what she did that warranted her arrest.

She also said that many of those arrested along with her died in detention

The Area Commander of the police at Onitsha, Mr. Benjamin Woru said the police would investigate the incident.

He also said that the police would monitor the movement of the victims to ensure there would be no security breach in the commercial city of Onitsha and the state in general, especially with governorship and local government elections drawing near.

Onlytruth: The fact remains that if Lagos state is tired of the Nigerian project, it should go ahead and secede today.
What Lagos is doing is CRIMINAL VIOLATION of Nigerian citizens CONSTITUTIONAL rights.

When Igbo got tired of Nigeria in 1967, we sacrificed 2 million of our people to try to secede. To me that is a demonstration of seriousness and bravery.

This cowardly backdoor secession won't work.

We Ndigbo really should hold the IG accountable because it seems that the IG is constantly making NIGERIAN POLICE men available for these types of open violation of the Nigerian constitution.

Our governors should hold Jonathan's feet to fire over the IG's indirect support for discrimination against innocent Nigerians by cowards who can't speak directly.

I think it was Prof. Wole Soyinka that said and l quote:
"Bravery is not encountered in the recklessness of utterance or of action, but in a methodical assessment of any situation where, even if the odds appear to be against one, and the risks seem overwhelming, a choice is still made that embraces the inherent dangers in the pursuit of that reasoned objective". ... Wole Soyinka, 2006.

That the Igbo "sacrificed" 2-million of their sons just to prove they are BRAVE and SERIOUS can only be judged when we ask them: ..And what was the result? What did you achieve at the end?
Only a foolish lot can boast of sacrificing 2,000,000 foolish lives, just for NOTHING!
Intelligent people THINK FIRST, before ACTING

Even Ojukwu took to his heels and ran to Ivory Coast, leaving another 500,000 "sacrificial lambs" to their fate!

Unfortunately (and l've always said this), Yorubas are to intelligent and full of wisdom, not to be able to distinguish between what Prof Soyinka called "recklessness of action and utterance" on one hand, and "methodical assessment of the situation" on the other hand.

Every Igbo must make that Quote of Prof. Wole Soyinka, his "Daily Manna and daily Bible study".

As much as l would preach Unity and respect for fellow Brothers, from any part of the country, if every state wants to do what Fashola has done, then so be it.

Just ensure that it is the JOBLESS "foreign" DESTITUTES who contribute Nadda to your state,... that are deported back to Lagos.
Dont turn it to a witch-hunting exercise because again, using wisdom, you will realize that "Lagos has so much more "foreigners" to witch-hunt, if that game is to be played-out.

Instead of beefing Lagos, hold your Governors accountable.
*Is it Fashola' problem (or Lagos State) that 90% of the Roads in the East are not motorable? Please lets just be honest for once.
Fashola rehabilitated a few roads in Lagos (Herbert macaulay, Muritala Muhammed, LUTH area, Ojuelegba, e.t.c).
He is currently working on Ikorodu axis, Badagry Axis, even fed Govt road at Oshodi/Mile 2 axis

Where are the roads that Governors from the East rehabilitated ...or dont they also collect their own allocation and taxes?
Dont give me that "historical bull-shyte excuse about how Lagos was developed in the 60's".
From Jakande (except Thief-nubu) to Fashola, Lagos has been blessed with Yoruba Governors who "stole MUCH but developed the state a LITTLE.

The rest of Nigeria (especially Eastern states) have been blessed with "Criminal-Governors" who stole MUCH but developed Nothing. That is why the East is becoming uninhabitable for Igbos!
Thus, everybody is trooping to Lagos!

But what are you going to do about your Governors who loot your patrimony and use it to buy houses abroad, Private Jets (Even fashola, as rich as Lagos is must not dream of Private jet! Walahi, he go see red!) and send their numerous Girl friends on shopping spree.
Direct your "righteous anger" at your real enemy!
Stop chasing 'Ringworm', while your head is infested with 'Leprosy'! (Yoruba adage)

But you are ALL welcome to Lagos ... if you can get something productive to do! .... just like millions of Igbo doing business and making money at Aspamda, Ojoo, Alaba, Idumota, Ladipo, Sanya, Orile, Oshodi, e.t.c

Dont come to Lagos to become Ritualist, Armed Robbers, Kidnappers, petty thief or just a nuisance and burden to Lagosians.

This is a no-brainer, Its not about constitution, not even about 'reckless bravado', its about common-sense.
Use Wisdom please.

If Lagos wants to deport Igbos fine go ahead like Onlytruth already mentioned, we tried to leave Nigeria before but you'll came into our land and killed defenseless women and children just for us to be part of your Nigeria.
You are a liar! So much that I don't like being a tribal person but got to put you straight, I have been to almost every state in Nigeria and I known that the east is one of the most backward region in Nigeria let say after the north, let the igbos leave the west and you will be amazed at the development; the west is the most develop region in Nigeria which is very visible to all eyes, so stop being a tribal person because that's what is negatively affecting our beloved country. Iwhere d'ome ekwensu!

You people always allow "Emotions and unbridled anger" to becloud your sense of good judgement.
That was one of the genesis of that "failed project" called Biafra!
Here you go again, what?
Let me break it down for you.

Assume ALL the IGBOS in lagos refuse to vote for say APC ...(forgetting that it is still the same Yorubas that they will vote for, as Governor, whether in PDP or any other party! wink wink ) ......and you voted for the "opposition", to prove your point above.

Now, how many are you in Lagos, numerically? Can you ever be more than the number of Yorubas in Lagos?
So, either way, in Lagos, if YORUBAs want it like that, (if and only iff), APC will still win.

Thus, once again, your "Protest Vote" will not only be meaningless, you will also become marginalized .... and the Yoruba Government in power might just close down all those "market places" for just three months! grin grin

Meaning we will have to deport all of you (especially YOU! tongue ), for being a destitute and jobless fella in Lagos!

I'll borrow you a leaf (as a Yoruba person in the mold of Prof. Wole Soyinka's thinking wink ): Support this policy to get rid of all the "destitutes" back to the East.

The advantages are many but l will just mention two.

1.) The available resources in lagos will better go round and you will have a better standard of living in Lagos.
2.) Those destitutes might just say "enough is enough" and give your thieving Governors a real fight ...and may be the Governors might just start doing what is right and working for your people, developing your land.

Imagine if 90% of Yorubas deserted Lagos and go 'developing' Anambara or Enugu?
Imagine if Fashola did not do anything in Lagos and we have no road network? How will you be able to trade here?

Biiko'nu, stop chasing shadows, we are still brothers.

Note to self.

'Never build a property outside your state of origin unless you can bear the loss.'
Africans generally still hold on to their ancestral lands as a form of identity.

When push comes to shove, those running their hosts ragged would teleport or carry their properties on their heads back to wherever their ancestors came from.

Olodo! If u dont have any reasonable comment to make u just shut up. what kind of tribal and biased comment are u making.
For your information, the same ibo's u r referring 2 generate huge revenue to the SW - Alaba, computer Village, Ladipo etc.
What r ur people contributing? Nothing except dirt, NURTW/Agbero..

Eko Atlantic: I'm not against this because of hundreds of crimes ibos bring from their states to SW, hence increasing crime rate in southwest.

The briton that was kidnapped in Lagos on Monday was the handiwork of the ibos, same with the wife of one honorable like that in one of the SW states.
