Boko Haram: FG Acquires 12 Fighter Jets by Solutioncrib: 6:22am On Sep 01, 2014
AS the armed forces get set for final on slaught against the Boko Haram terrorists, the latest fighter jets in the world would start arriving the country this week.

Informed top military sources disclosed to our source at the weekend that the fighter jets, up to a dozen in number, were purchased directly by the Nigerian Air Force.

The source revealed that the jets are capable of bombing in the night, adding that this would enhance the operations of the soldiers.

According to the source, modern equipment such as the Shilka guns for the army would also arrive soon, to fast-track the war against insurgency.

The source revealed that what was happening in the insurgency war was enemy within, as some disloyal troops relayed strategic information on operations to the insurgents.

It was authoritatively gathered that when an operation for bombing was being prepared, some insiders passed the information to the terrorists, a reason much impact was not being felt.
The source also added that analysis so far made on the weapons recovered from the insurgents did not show they were superior to those of the armed forces.

It was reliably gathered that most of the weapons being used by the terrorists were those collected from various police stations which were attacked by the insurgents.

Authoritative military sources said the massive arrival of equipment for the
armed forces this month would see a new phase in the war against terrorism in the country.

Areas such as Gwoza, being held by terrorists, according to the source, would soon be liberated, as more troops were now being deployed to take the insurgents head on.

grin grin grin grin
Nigerian reporters, zero research! grin
Shilka is the nickname of the ZSU-23-4, a lightly armored, self-propelled, radar guided anti-aircraft weapon system (SPAAG)
It went into service in 1965 and its not modern at all! grin
A fearsome and deadly weapon system!
I believe Nigeria already have it in her armory!

Assuming that the reporters were right about the purchase of Shilka weapon, my innocent question is this:

Why would the military purchase anti-aircraft weapons for the purpose of this Boko Haram war? Don't they know that Boko Haram are ground fighters and not air fighters? Or do they want to give lose it to Boko Haram during one the numerous insurgency attacks on military base and then expose our airforce combatants to danger?

Maybe you're right, our reporters don't know what they are saying.

Thank you my brother .

Shilka is a multiple munition launcher primarily used as an AAA with a range of 2.5km.

This weapon is artillery-styled and reknowned for it's lack of precision.

The UN is currently accusing the Ukrainian troops of using it in populated areas.

Can't these guys learn to be discreet for once even if their life depend on it?
Wining the battle should be the priority not some information that ought to be classified.

The government should focus more on the political boko haram who are hidden in government office, the central bank and the 2 legislative arms. These are the ones who discreetly and through legal channels fund boko haram. Until those channels are cut off and the politics and actors behind it exposed we will continue to chase shadows and incur more cost
