I guess a typical Nigerian dating Seun in 2006 you would have asked him to forget his dream of owning the largest online forum in Africa and start distributing CVs to all the companies in Nigeria abi?

There was a time Dangote was selling sugar, salt and so on in ridiculous small quantity and im very positive a typical Nigeria lady would have asked him if he will not mind adding a paid job to augment.
your comments are making me go gaga men. Am an entrepreneur . starting from scratch. if my lady doesn't understand me, I'll show her d exit door.

lol..

By June i will be marking my 4th decade on earth.

See friend a fool at 40 they say is a fool forever

I stand challenged on this fact..most Nigerian ladies are sorry case.

Have you observed the front page junks expecially when it comes to ladies? ok let me refresh yur your memory

Tonto dikeh flaunts naked body

Chika ike shows off cleavage

Juliet ibrahim flaunts sexy curves in bikini

I can go on and on and when i see stuffs like these i just wonder.

Please do a thourough check and go through threads of unequivocal relevance to ladies and you can bet that you will hardly see a lady comment and the most of those who do usually write short codes like

lol,
wow,
smiles

Then i began to wonder if the crop of ladies we have now has any grey matter.

Aneg let me just stop here..God help our ladies.

Lmao..
So true

There are other millions that started like seun and dangote, where are they today. I am not against being an entrepreneur but it is best to know yourself as socrate said and I qoute " Man know thy self". There are so many ladies that support their spouses in every way in their businesses. I mean financial, emotional and every other input. It is all about compatibility. Someone that really understands you and capability.

If you ask any lady to choose between a salary earner or an entrepreneur i guess many will gladly go for the latter.

Yes most ladies will gladly settle for an established and successful entrepreneur but will prefer a man that earns a salary to a BUDDING entrepreneur aiming to make success of his career?

How amazing is the fact that many ladies would rather prefer a butterfly to a caterpillar.

It is amazing how an average Nigerian lady will go all out to kill the zeal of a young and promising entrepreneur simply because of the fear of the unseen, she will advice him to take up a job just because she is more interested in having the assurance that there is a regular in-flow of cash either for her selfish gains or for the sake of the children.

Ok I guess you will be saying in your mind ”this guy don come again” so do me this favor and lets do this real life testing..

If you are a guy who is still searching for job simply call your lady on the phone and tell her “honey wow! guess what? I have gotten a business idea I want to start” and please observe her response.

Wait for another week and call her again but this time say “Honey you won’t believe I got a job” and also observe her response.

And for those who are already working, simply call your lady and tell her “honey I have decided to quit my job to start my personal business” ..i am almost certain you are in for a long sermon on why you should not.

Some ladies are even kind enough to ask you to get a job first then probably raise the money for the business as though they are so certain that all the money you earn monthly from the hopeful job will be saved for your intending business and unfortunately by the time you start a job
you intend spending just few years, you will wake up after 20years to discover you are still stuck up in same job because the employers we have are pretty smart enough not to allow you space for yourself and you will even have to lie in order to attend an interview for another job offer.

Please don’t get it twisted…as a man, there is absolutely nothing wrong in taking up a job if that is what rocks your boat but I am simply laying emphases on some Nigerian ladies who lack vision, those who are mediocre and those who just believe that getting by is more important in life than attaining a potential maximum IN YOUR CHOSEN CAREER.

Our ladies must understand that just as we have men who are ok with a paid jobs and depend on the employer to gain promotion and more take home pay,we also have men who are visionary, men who would rather want to be an employer of labor rather than be an employee, men who will stop at nothing to achieve their dreams and men who will later become the Dangotes and bill gates of today and eventually become a owner of a company many see today as well established and many ladies will even pray and fast for their men to be employed there.

This is my point ladies…the choice remains yours but please do not stress our men who are visionary, determined and result oriented. Allow them pursue their dreams.Get a life for yourself, get financially independent and allow this man space to actualize his dreams.

My candid view.

I'm very sure a lady turned you down because you are budding entrepreneur. grin

funny enough I love guys who are entrepreneurs and talk very passionately and intelligently about what they want to do, guys with a clear vision about where they see themselves in some years to come. but the thing is I don't think many have what it takes to be an entrepreneur especially in this country where many businesses end up crumbling, its not for the faint hearted, its for those who are go-getters and very determined to succeed.

many young guys just want to be entrepreneurs but they don't know what it takes to become one, they think its easy , they just stay at home taking no action and telling people they are entrepreneurs with no clear vision about what they want. some just feel too big to work under somebody. or some are very unrealistic and living in a fantasy world. for you to take that big risk by quitting your job and being self employed you have to have a very good and realistic plan. cant take the risk with some of these "self employed'' guys roaming the streets.

much love..... happy new year

I hope I don't sound weird on this one and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...

Not everyone's vision will become a reality... damn! Hit the damn nail on the head.

Yes, we plan, plan and plan but it doesn't always align in reality like in our heads...

In my opinion(emphasis on the "MY" ) even as you're trying out your different ideas, you should have some plan B that puts food on YOUR table!

For example, I know a software developer who has ideas and has created apps that are on google play but we all know that field is still not fully blown here. So, if he sits at home creating apps all day, he might just go hungry so... he got a blue collar job that at least pays the bills for now while working on his vision!

No1 needs to abandon his/her vision for anyone but you must know that "potential" don't put food on no table.

And heck! If you feel your girl is weighing you down, you leave her and move ahead. Saying stuff like "she made me loose sight of my vision" is just weak abeg... like really weak.

Oh... the last paragraph is on gf/bf basis... if you're married, your wife is only tryna pull you back to reality... you just can't afford to be stuck on a dream you had as a teen when you have babies to feed. unless of course she's the bread winner... and you know what that does to your egos. wink
much love happy New year

Bro did u notice what i noticed?.a thread termed "5 states with most runs ladies" garnered more traffic than a thread that would add value and spice to some young talents pursuit..mehn am so tired of this bullsh!t and also wondering what this world is turning into..

Well,i don't blame them kids..they're still under the canopy of their parents and know not what life is yet.

.are You Daft? How is a conversation on why Ladies prefer a salary earner to an entrepreneur going to add Value to a Young talents Pursuit? if you are a Young talent and you were waiting to confirm if Ladies would prefer you to a salary earner before you go ahead with your Pursuit in Life then you don't even know what you want in Life.

and yes we know you just rented a rat-hole Cubicle somewhere in town But the way you keep making reference to those still living under their parent's canopy is starting to get irritating

angry

Truth is bitter. Some guys end up underachieving because of the fear transfered to them by girlfriends and wives.

Corporate jobs and promotions are limited; entrepreneurial opportunities are not. Ladies, let that man take the risk. Support him and be proud of his small achievements.

God bless you sir! Thank God someone like me never felt discouraged when two ladies hurt me all because I wanted to stand on my own as a man of vision! Even their parents didn't help. Esau lost his birthright all because of a lunch. No guy should ever allow any lady or her family to make him feel less human. A man of vision should know that it takes only a woman of vision to value vision also. For example:- a lady rejected David Oyedepo when he was a struggling preacher, also sam adeyemi was rejected by a lady all because he was a poor preacher then! Yes, a lady left Michael Bolton all because he was trying to pursue a musical passion and was poor then! We all know these men today. Amen

My point is simply, a woman should not be a determining factor when chasing one's dream. Besides, as a budding hustler, what are you doing with a woman ? I am not sure Dangote or seun had advice or focus on women when the hustle wasn't paying.

being smart does not equal being a successful entrepreneur. do you think those guys you mentioned run their businesses alone. obviously , you have got limited knowledge in business management. For your knowledge; there is a difference between a self employed and a business man/entrepreneur. A business man sees himself as working for his company , still a salary earner , works by certain rules that govern the organisation. The former sees himself as working for himself, owner of the company , works by his own rules. I guess many " budding"entrepreneurs fall under the former thats why they remain in the budding state for a long time.

People do stuffs out of passion not because they are so disposed to doing those stuffs.

Our problem in Nigeria is the fake life we live, the larger than life personality we portray and the empty bragado people who havve no value put on.

I have realized that people who are actually worthless are the ones who usually try to make effizy....do whatever makes you happy irrespective of watever.

I know many jobless people who dont make posts on nairaland until evening just to give a false impression.
