CAN Protests Moves To List Nigeria Among Arab Nations To Fight ISIS by cuvox(m): 5:44am On Dec 17, 2015

UMBRELLA body of Christians in Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, last night protested the attempt by the current All Progressives Congress, APC, government to subtly enlist Nigeria among Arab nations to fight ISIS.

It was reported on foreign news last night that Saudi Arabia was building a coalition of 34 Muslim/Arab countries to fight ISIS and Nigeria was named among the 34.

A statement late last night by the General Secretary of CAN, Rev. Musa Asake, said: “This singular gesture of the Buhari government betrays so much, and tends to confirm our fears that underneath everything this government is doing, there is an agenda with strong Islamic undertones, aimed at undermining Nigeria’s pluralistic character and neutrality regarding government’s affiliation to any one religion.

“While joining hands with other countries to fight ISIS is something good, our country must not be tagged as a Muslim or Arab nation. Christians must make a public statement showing their discontent on this development which portends great danger to national unity and integration.”

Are they not fighting boko haram already.
What is the difference btw isis and BH?

Anyways I would advice if my opinion counts is that they should focus on BH and finish with them first except they have intelligence they want to share with other nations concerning isis gotten from BH suspects.

Gradual Islamization of Nigeria like Gambia by Buhari as warned by some people before the election

BH has pledged alliance to Daesh(IS), so it's more of a splinter terror cell of ISIS in west Africa. Now they want to form a coalition to cut ISIS down to size (much like the MNJTF), you are here claiming islamization of Nigeria. Like say more than half the population of Nigerians ain't Muslims before.
Now that help is minimal and we need as many hands as possible to put an end to this scourge once and forall, CAN is here spilling balderdash.

P.S. before you start shouting and screaming Arab nations, don't forget that Isreal is also an Arab nation

End time protest!

When Oritsejafor was busy downgrading CAN by dragging it into politics you don't foresee this happening?

How many Muslim bodies did you see back then cry foul as Ayo's own?
They were busy making strategic plans to amalgamate us with them Arab naw.

Why didn't Saudi enlist Iran? As if we don't know that ISIL and bokoharam are the Sunni and wahabis militants led by Arab (Saudi Arabia) while Shiite is the militia of Shia led bby Iran. For those of you who don't know, ask yourself why presstv and Iranian government had been so much concerned about the killing of Shias. Did you know that the money given to these Shia group annually by Iran is bigger than some state's annnual budget.
The thing is simple, the Saudi Arabia coalition is meant to fight Shiite alone! I challenge the Sunnis here to disagree with this assertion!
If you are in middle east, you will understand that the problem of Islam is self inflicted, and they know that.
The civil war in Yemen and Syria is another typical experimentation of power and superiority contest between Arabs and Persians. I don't want to go into details, but I tell you the crisis that will emanate from northern nigeria is bigger than what you guys are imagining.
Buhari was vehemently against the killings of bokoharam, because BH is for sunnis, when you hear, that BH also kill Muslims, make no mistake about it, the Shia are the victims here! The Sunni led by buhari are fully insupport of the killings.

I won't make any comment until I hear what passingshot has to say because there are many things we said would happen and some are happening already.

Edited

10.- Prohibition of state eligion

The Government of the Federation or of a State shall not adopt any religion as State Religion.
(section 10 of Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria).

Ibb government was a military government and arbitrary promoted lot of things including corruption and joining of OIC.

Nigeria is now under democracy and what guides us now is the section of the Constitution I quoted above.

I wrote a paper on this, wish it is in soft copy, would have shared it, you will realise that we even have more Christian and other religions in the North than the muslims.

I usually find it difficult to decipher what the major problem of the Igbos is, sheer ignorance (or rather, stupidity) or sentimentality.

Russia and America and Germany and France have enough money and armoury to Fight the Islamic State. We are weak to fight Islamic State.
A terrorist group that struggles with 3 nations (Libya, Syria and Iraq) and generates $500million a day to fund terrorism can take on nigeria comfortably and it wouldn't even look like they did anything.
By the way you are sunni Muslim? Driving your country into war isn't the right thing as it stands now, Boko haram and drought is here, when we deal with this first, we can take on ISIS. And Nigeria isn't a muslim nation. I'm not a muslim.

First, u start by asking what d major problem of Igbos are, with that silly nickname that better describes u and urs. Is CAN an Igbo organisation? Are Igbos d only Christians in Nigeria?

You go further to expose ur unparalleled lack of understanding about these issues. Is Nigeria an islamic country? Should such an involvement not be debated properly within our domain before getting involved? There is a reason Nigeria must abstain from certain labels which otherwise pass a wrong message which begins to confirm certain suspicions and stir the already irate hornet's nest!

On what basis do u assume that more than half of Nigeria's population are muslim? U are the kind that just like to make statements for the hell of it without proper regard and thought.

His assumption is the madness of fastest growing religion. That's what is blinding him. Well, islam has a fracture now, I read somewhere that 350million muslims now live as Christians worldwide. They behave like muslims outside but inside they are Christians. Him mind day tell am say for nigeria, ibo man way never chase container finish go become muslim... Na em thinking no mind am
