From the video, that does not seem the case though. The police officer was the one trying to be diplomatic and she kept refusing to calm down herself. If anything, diplomacy would actually have worked better in her case. She probably would not have been beaten – if she did though, all she had to do was document the beating and the damage and ensure she takes the police officers and the police force for all it has. She has lawyers so I do not see why all the crazy show.

I understand what you are trying to apply here but I am sorry if we want change, we should be willing to change the way in which we deal as well. Before she was probably beaten, she was in her car right. She could have barricaded herself in there, taken pictures of the vehicle that hit her and maybe the driver at the same time and waited for the police to try to get at her in her locked car.
This is not the first of this sort of thing to happen and the more we continue to approach it in the exact same way, the more we continue to suffer the same.

this is so difficult to watch - i dont know which is worse - the woman behaving like a deranged animal or the callous disregard of the policemen.  

nigerian society is a complete mess, if human beings are reduced to this sort of behaviour then there is no hope, we definitely need a complete overhaul of our behaviour, mentality and attitude.  I  dont dispute the fact that she was beaten by the police but her reaction makes it very difficult for anyone to sympathise with her, all the grandstanding, shouting, and blowing of hot air makes her look even worse than her tormentors, i think if she had simply conducted herself with more dignity it woudl have been easier to sympathise with her. Instead of feeling sorry for her you just get side tracked into wondering how any human being can behave in such a grossly violent and aggressive manner.    Perhaps this is how women are forced to behave in nigeria in order to get any form of respect.  

I really fear for how nigeria will become if there is a complete breakdown in society - it will be unmitigated anarchy on both sides (civilian and police, army and other govt agents of repression).
