A New Hospital Concept for the 21st Century Igbo land
With the less that optimal performance of health care system in Nigeria leading to unnecessary deaths and loss of wealth in Igbo land due to medical tourism, World Igbo Congress has rallied the Igbo wealth of health care professionals in the Diaspora to introduce a new hospital concept focused on telemedicine built on outpatient services while maintaining critical emergency and acute care services. This model is unique because of the availability of world-class physicians abroad and locally who will provide an array of specialty services not otherwise available locally.
While it has often been believed that southeast and South-South zones and indeed the federal republic of Nigeria has an impressive number of tertiary teaching hospitals and Federal Medical Centers the paradigm of developing hospitals based on edifices and populated with health care staff who are mostly government employees is flawed. This is the bane of the Nigerian health care system and the root of its non-performance. Providence Hospital and Life Care System will take advantage of its proximity to these major local hospitals, by reversing the flow of patients and drawing on the large population centers of area for outpatient and surgery specialties, as well as affordable integrated health services that are well appreciated and in demand in the region.
At its heart, the plan relies on the high quality of clinical care that World Igbo Congress has rallied from the rich Igbo endowment of world class health care professionals in the US and Europe while expanding specialty services that build on this excellence. Direct marketing of these services is anticipated to attract patients from across the southeast and South-south administrative zones and as far as the countries in west and central Africa and enhance revenues across all service lines. The plan also anticipates close alliances with local and regional healthcare providers by adopting telemedicine technologies that expand specialty patient care into local clinics, other hospitals in the region and worldwide through telemedicine.
Cloud based technologies for telemedicine, lab results, imaging and electronic health records will connect physicians and patients from any location including at every bedside. This unique opportunity to be a hub for telemedicine for the entire region will be led by our team of renowned specialists in telemedicine, and a team of world class specialists.
Operational strategies will add significantly to the bottom line and will be overseen by a board of 15 healthcare and business professionals. PHLCS will recruit an experienced administrator nationally recognized for excellent leadership skills.
Among the many new initiatives this plan identifies are: • New outpatient services that will drive the utilization of lab, imaging, infusion, and inpatient services. • A new marketing and patient education center within the hospital targeting a wider geographic area than just Igbo land. • A patient experience focus that creates patient loyalty while offering services that are desired in the region. • Operational excellence that ensures accurate charge capture, billing and collections. • World class physicians offering specialty services that are not easily available in our region today • Electronic Health technology and telemedicine, which improve access to patient clinical diagnosis and information for both patients and physicians in Nigeria and in renowned medical centers of excellence around the globe. • Specialty institutes such as Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Institute, Brain and Spine Institute, Urology Institute, Integrative Health Institute, Endocrinology Institute, Rheumatology Institute and Wound Care Institute to capture and excel in the spectrum of ailments that beleaguer our people • A business and health care oriented board, which will provide governance and demand fiscal responsibility, business growth and clinical excellence. • A new community of health professionals complete with infrastructure, accommodation, security, schools and other facilities that make for a serene community living
The Ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled to hold at Ojukwu Conference Center in Owerri Imo State on August 14, 2015. The Executive Governor of Imo State Chief Rochas Okorocha will perform the ceremony. Members of his administration, the business community of the southeast, the traditional rulers and the people will be in attendance. The Chairman of World Igbo Congress, Joe Nze Eto, The Vice Chairman of WIC, Dr. Ken Igwe, the Chairman of WIC Health Committee, Dr. Jonathan Nwiloh, the Secretary-General of WIC, Dr. (Mrs.) Agatha Anosike, The Executive Director of WIC, Professor Anthony Ejiofor, Dr. Nkechi Azie, Secretary of the WIC Health Care Committee, Professor Chidi Onyenekwu and the Event Coordinator Muna Okpi among numerous people from home and abroad will be on the ground for the event.
I am impressed to say the least, this is the kind of self-help projects Igbos are well known for. Mbakwe built the imo airport and some other projects through this means. Onye ajuru aju anaghi aju onwe ya, even if FG abandons us as they have done since independence, we have all it takes to set the pace in Nigeria, we have continued to have the highest literacy rate, lowest incidence of poverty, highest percentage of deliveries by qualified health personnel, the states of Imo, Anambra and Abia have consistently been among states with the highest enrollment rates into unity schools and universities, I can go on and on to list all the areas igbos have consistently led the pack in Nigeria despite FG orchestrated subjugation, all these were achieved simply because of our liberal and capitalist society, healthy rivalry between constituent parts and self help projects such as this one planned by WIC. There should be a synergy between S.East governors, WIC and Ohanaeze ndigbo to fashion out modalities where we can build world class universities, hospitals, malls, office buildings and estates etc in Igbo cities like Enugu, Owerri, Onitsha, Aba, Asaba,p.harcourt ,Abakiliki, Umuahia etc. Believe me, we have the human resources within Nigeria and in the diaspora to achieve such, we can even float a company that would be quoted in the stock exchange and its shares sold to interested Nigerians to realize more capital. I believe there is a new consciousness or reawakening among Igbos in thinking home. Another of such is what Prof Barth Nnaji did in Abia state by building geometric power plant(dedicated to industries in Aba) with world bank assisted funds in Osisioma, Aba, that singular project have resuscitated moribund companies like PZ and Nigerian breweries, hopefully Unilever and many others will bounce back and the new governor needs to improve on the roads and waste disposal and then hype Aba to attract investments and what former minster of Industries(Charles Ugwu) did in Ebonyi by building one of the biggest modern rice mills(Ebony rice) Finally, a refinery somewhere between Owerri and Oguta in Imo state will help the economy of the S.east, if only Rochas is serious he can provide part of the funds and then lure foreign investors and Igbo diaspora to invest in it. Now is the time jump-start the S.East economic tiger!!!

not sure geometric has started functioning..they still have issues with interstate electrics over aba zone
We need to think East, its no longer about profit making but strategic actions. If things manufactured in Lagos can find their ways to East there is no way things manufacture in East can't find their ways in Lagos. Doubt me and visit the auto spare parts shops in Lagos and see how they have many products from Umudim Nnewi on the shelves and counters. Earlier this year I was in Lagos, the hot drink I drank was Calidon, manufactured where at Atani Road, where is Atani Road Onitsha in Anambra State.
East mUst not be a dumping ground for made in Lagos and Ogun products, Lagos and Ogun also must feel the impart of industrial East.
asha80: not sure geometric has started functioning..they still have issues with interstate electrics over aba zone
Geometric is functioning in Osisioma, Aba at the moment. The very unfortunate spat between geometric and Emeka Offor's interstate only stopped geometric from supplying power to the entire city of Aba(which would have been great) but geometric has the right to supply power to industries in Aba directly. Emeka Offor is sabotaging the effort of prof Barth Nnaji to give Aba and indeed the S.east a face-lift, he is just being too greedy by denying the SME's at Bakassi/Ariaria, kent/Azikiwe and so many others scattered all over Aba the opportunity to have 24 hours uninterrupted power supply to grow their businesses and help the economy of Abia state. God will continue to bless prof Barth Nnaji and make Shylock Emeka offor to have a change of mind.

The same Emeka Offor will go to North and donate billions for polio eradication but will come to Anambra State to destroy government properties and loot funds

ok didn't know about that.. However I think it is just a matter of time before geometric takes over the aba zone..that I because nerc and bpe have validated the rights of geometric over aba zone just some weeks ago..offor was simply banking on his closeness to the then vp sambo to frustrate nnaji

Please what is happening to Industrial Enugu
Why wait for industrialization? Is it not human beings like u dat industrialize?
"Every continent has its unique culture. You go to Middle east you know this's arab territory,, You go to Asia you identify them with their dressing, language etc,,,,You go to Western countries you identify them with their dressing, language etc. Come to Africa esp Northern nigeria you get confused because the Black people there want to be arabs- they threw away all their culture to adopt the arab culture. They guard this new found identity with their lives.
The arabs don't wanna dress like Africans. Oyibo dnt wanna dress like us. They are very proud people. They guard their cultures jealously and keep modernising them. We Africans say no,we want to be like the Arabs,We want to be like the Americans. We want to be like the Asians. We love Brainwashing ourselves to please them? What a mighty shame"

That's great news, people like Emeka Offor are the bane of development in Igboland. Aba has the potential to be one of the most industrialized cities in Nigeria and having in mind that power is the most critical concern of industries, it then means that Aba has a comparative advantage over other cities in Nigeria.

Chukwu ga agozikwa gi na ndi Igbo nile ndi huru obodo ha n'anya. It annoys me bitterly when I see fellow Igbos building industries and companies outside Igboland. They refuse to ask themselves how many industries the likes of Dangote, Otedola et al built in the S.east!! I believe Ekulu industries(makers of Eva soap and other confectionaries) is owned by an Igboman probably from Anambra but that man turned a blind eye at Onitsha, Aba, Nnewi and other Igbo cities and built it in Lagos There are so many other examples like that and I vowed i will never buy there products. what is the distance between Onitsha and Lagos?? what does Lagos or Ogun state have that can't be found In Aba or Onitsha. What stops and others like him from building in the S.east distributing across Nigeria

People tend to invest where they feel is profitable for them. We should focus more on making igboland very conducive for business then you dont need to tell igbos invest home.
Igbos are capitalist in nature. they dont give a damn where theyre investing as long as it's profitable.
My brother don't base all your judgement on hear say, educate yourself. Northern Nigeria was conquered by the Fulanis from Futa Djalon who then infused themselves into the Hausa society. Bare in mind the Fulanis are a group of northern African Berber people conquered by the Arabs, they therefore adopted the Arabic religion and still maintain some small similarities that which you see today. So I don't get what you mean by they are trying to be like Arabs.

please what makes ogun state(Ota/Agbara) more profitable than Anambra(Onitsha/Nnewi) or Abia state(Aba). Do you think that prof Barth Nnaji is foolish to build a 500 million dollars power plant in Aba?? If the population of Lagos is the deciding factor, do you also know that people come from as far as northern Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroun, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon to buy goods at Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi?? The answer is simple, They are just like Zik who belief that Nigeria is one but are we really one?? A stitch in time saves nine.

Thanks for crossing out Port-hacourt. Finally, someone who understands the reality of things. Every other thing that you have written is spot on.
Happy to finally see this iconic symbol of Igbo and Enugu renaissance pulled back into life. I hope they knock down all those buildings that illegally encroached on the land of the International Conference Center.
While i supported Sullivan Chime for his sterling service, his biggest crime against Enugu state and people was the criminal abandonment of this edifice. Imagine if the new Governor Ugwuanyi also abandons his 95% completed state secretariat complex simply because Sullivan Chime started it? What waste, what crime it would be on Enugu state to have spent billions only for the complex to be abandoned for childish political reasons.
I hope Chime covers his face in shame for attempting to allow this iconic building and the entire hotel complex, museum and other structures there to rot. It was the worst shameful act of Sullivan Chime, which will forever be pointed to as proof of Chime's petty & childish mindset.
1. Igweocha (Portharcourt) 2. Enugu 3. Onitsha 4. Aba 5. Owerri 6. Asaba etc You guys are no more igbos than Igbos in South South and Rivers. 70% of Ikwerre on my friend's list are proud Biafrans (i could post their pages if you want) though i noticed they're a bit shy to admit they are igbos. Thanks to facebook and the internet, very many ikwerres and South south igbos are realising the fact that they were decieved and lied to by their selfcentered corrupt elites.
if nnewi is not there, my guy you haven't started. Where does your pvc pipes, cables, Igbo made cars, Okada, ceramics, plastics of different types comes from?

4 things i want you to know
1. Uthman dan fodio and his thugs were the bokoharam of those days of rich and powerful Hausa kindom. He (Uthman dan fodio) was like abubakar shekau
The easiest way to understand how Usman dan fodio succeded in conquering the hausa kings is by understanding how bokoharam under Shekau conquered Borno towns and villages:
*ABUBAKAR SHEKAU believes in imposing a stricter form of islam in the whole North. He percieved the current muslim leaders as being too "corrupt" and not practicing the core islamic teaching. His goal is to reestablish islam in its purest form. *UTHMAN DAN FODIO suceeded in imposing a stricter form of islam in the whole North. He percieved the dethroned muslim leaders(the hausa kings) as being too "corrupt" and not practicing the core islamic teaching.. However both Shekau and Dan fodio could not have succeeded without the the help of insiders (hausa insider in dan fodio case) who were sympathic to the cause. Muslim communities would be easy to conquer than non muslim community as a result of the activities of this insiders that was why the fulani couldnt conquer the Gwaris and many non muslim communities in north and central nigeria. So Uthman dan fodio succeded with the help of brainwashed insiders sympathetic to his cause same way Shekau used brainwash muslims insiders to conquer some town in Borno,Yobe and Adamawa.
SO IT WAS RATHER THE HAUSAS JOINING FORCES WITH FULANIS TO CONQUER LIBERAL HAUSA KINGS NOT FULANI CONQUERING THE HAUSAS LIKE THE BRITISH CONQUERED NIGERIA. 2. Usman dan fodio couldnt have defeated the Hausa kings without the logistics and support of Arab muslim empires and Brainwashed Hausas.
3. Most Nigeria fulanis are very negro unlike fulani in other west African countries. I strongly doubt they are berber, the could have originated from Ethiopia and mix with Northern Nigeria tribes.
4. Fulani are dirty, primitive and aggressive people

Hausa had their traditional religion and Islam was minimal influence until it was spread by the Dan Fodio movement.
Although I'm not here to call anyone primitive or dirty, Yes I agree with you all though Hausas before mixing with fulas weren't core Muslims they had there own traditional religions.

In fairness to Chime, he did complete/add to some of Chima's projects like buildings in parklane, esut and maryland estate etc. I stand to be corrected though.
