Politics / Gov. Al Makura Failed To Pay Salaries After Receiving N150billion Allocations by Arobam: 7:53pm On Aug 25, 2015
Our attention has been drawn to an advertorial placed in several newspapers by Governor Tanko Al Makura's agents masquerading as "Nassarawa Citizens for Peace" but who actually operate within the confines of the Governor's office in Lafia. The adverts were fully sponsored and paid by Governor Al Makura who has failed to pay workers salaries for months despite receiving over N150billlion as allocations and the recent bail out intervention by President Buhari.

It is not surprising that these serial attacks on Maku are coming at a time when the massive fraud that characterized the April 2015 elections are being exposed at the ongoing election petition Tribunal in Lafia, Nassarawa State

In the said advertorial, the paid hirelings drew up some questions for Labaran Maku. Although most of the questions are puerile, senseless, and mischievous, we deem it fit to set the record straight so that the unsuspecting public will not be misled. We hereby respond to the questions asked serially.

1. WHO IS BEHIND OMBATSE?

Ans: Tanko Almakura is the founder, financier and beneficiary of Ombatse. They(Ombatse) said this to the whole world at the Judicial panel set up by Almakura. They presented cheaques showing Almakura's financial sponsorship of the group.
Ombatse were Almakura's personal security guards during 2011 election. They also provided security during Almakura's inauguration in 2011.

2. What was Maku's role in the killing of security operatives by Ombatse?

Ans: It's lame and laughable to ask this question given the fact that Maku was not the chief security of the state. Governor Al Makura was the one who presided over the state as chief security officer. He should know better.

3. Who is shielding Ombatse from prosecution?
Ans: Ask Governor Tanko Almakura.

4. Where is Baba Alakyo, the spiritual leader of Ombatse, and what is Maku's relationship with him?

Ans: Baba Alakyo told the world how Al Makura went and took Oath from him before the 2011 election.....he said he initiated Al Makura into the Ombatse group. Tanko Al Makura should provide the answers. Never once was Maku's name mentioned in all of these.

5. Why did Maku boycott all peace efforts by the state government?

Ans: Al Makura was given written position on the crisis by all Nasarawa leaders led by Walid Jibrin and Maku which he failed to acknowledge or implement.

6. Why did the staff of Federal Ministry of Information hold Maku hostage when he resigned as minister?

Ans: They dint hold Maku hostage. Some elements obviously acting under external influence later apologized during the reception for Maku which held at the National Press Centre at Radio House same day.

7. Who were the two APC witnesses that testified against Al-makura?

Ans: They were Al Makura's witnesses from Alagye and Mbrumbrum in Doma LGA, who openly confessed before the tribunal that Al Makura did not win the April 11 governorship election in Nassarawa state. It may also interest you to know that the remaining witnesses earlier presented by Al Makura were quickly withdrawn by his lead Counsel, Yusuf Ali SAN to avoid further embarrassing confessions as all efforts including financial inducements to get the witnesses to lie on oath failed.

8. Why were all employees of Federal Ministry of Information from Nasarawa state during Maku's tenure of Eggon extraction?

Ans: This is absolutely false as Mr. Labaran Maku did not discriminate against any ethnic group while serving as Minister. Political appointments and projects were spread across the state. The GM Precious FM Lafia, Musa Abdullahi who was sacked from NBS by Almakura is an Alago from Obi LGA. Maku, as a member of the federal cabinet, ensured the establishment of a new Federal university in Lafia which has created immense opportunities for youths across the state. He also completed and commissioned the NTA station at Akwanga. Other projects include the Lafia-Awe road, Lafia-Doma road, Federal secreatariat Lafia, among others. This no doubt created employment opportunities for youths all over the state.

9. Why did the paramount ruler of Eggon nation, the Aren Eggon, strip Maku of his traditional title, Turakin Eggon?

Ans: The Aren Eggon did not strip Maku of his title. Some elements sponsored by Almakura attempted to embarrass Maku through announcements on the state owned radio station-NBS

10. Why didn't you visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state until during campaigns?

Ans: Maku visited displaced persons including the widows of security personnel who died at Lakyo. He provided support for the widows and relief materials for displaced persons. This was widely reported.

11. Why didn't APGA win any elective position during the 2015 general elections?

Ans: That is why Maku is in court to challenge the electoral fraud. APGA won the Governorship and senate seats and is in court to reclaim the stolen mandate. It is also instructive to note that Maku had all along been in PDP and by the time he left for APGA, many of his associates who remained in PDP won their elections.

12. Is it true that N37 billion was discovered on Maku's farm?

Ans: It is not true. Some people sponsored by Almakura planted the fiction on the social media to hide the $510 million (dollars) reportedly stashed abroad by Almakura in American Banks. The alleged discovery of N37B on a phantom farm is laughable, spurious, baseless and can only exist in the imaginations of Al Makura and his propagandists.

13. Is it possible for one to win one out of thirteen local government areas and be declared winner of governorship election?

Ans: APGA won in 9 LGAs but result was falsified by Al Makura's agents and fraudulently declared by INEC. That is why Maku is in court. Even Al Makura witnesses have confessed before the Tribunal sitting in Lafia that Maku won overwhelmingly in their areas.

14. Did Maku reconcile the account of the defence ministry during his tenure as the supervising minister?

Ans: Ministers do not reconcile accounts. Permanent Secretaries and the Accountant General of the Federation do so. Ignorance is behind most of the questions you asked. This question betrays your morbid hatred for Maku because he defeated your sponsor, Al Makura who has failed to account for over N150Billion collected in the last 4 years.

15. What was your role during the communal crisis of Toto and Azara during your tenure as deputy governor of the state.

Ans: Maku was one of the leading peace makers that resolved the crisis of 2001 which brought uninterrupted peace to Nasarawa State until Tanko Almakura's violent regime destroyed the peace. It would interest you to know that one of the factors responsible for Maku's landslide victory in the 2015 governorship elections is because his track record as a peacemaker endeared him to voters across Nassarawa state who saw him as the only hope for restoration of peace, reconciliation and rapid development of the state after years of violence, widespread killings of innocent citizens, and destruction under Al Makura's regime.

We therefore urge the public to disregard all these sponsored attacks and campaign of calumny launched by Al Makura's agents which are symptomatic of a drowning man

Signed

Little did I know that SURE-P funds were used to construct the road. It's remarkable and I urge the President to prevail on SURE P committee to intervene in all the other sections and ensure that East-West road is completed before 2015.
Politics / Re: 61% Of Nigerians Approve Pres Jonathan’s Performance by Arobam: 10:54pm On Sep 04, 2014
ochejoseph: ABUJA - The latest governance poll conducted by the NOIPolls Limited indicated that 61 percent of adult Nigerians have approved the job performance of President Goodluck Jonathan last month, especially in the area of improved electricity supply to some households.
The results showed that while 41 percent approved of it, 20 percent strongly endorsed the President’s performance.

President Jonathan
This rating currently being at par with the rating obtained in January 2014, represents a 1-point drop from July’s rating which was recorded at 62 percent.
More findings according to the polls revealed that slightly more than half 51 percent of adult Nigerians experienced an improved state of power supply to their households within the past one month
According to NOIpolls, “an assessment of the President’s performance on key elements of his transformation agenda in the month of August revealed that the President received an average three rating in his performance on Job creation, power, economy, education, health, agriculture & food security,
“Transportation and Foreign Policy & Diplomacy except for Security, which he performed poorly. Still based on his transformation agenda, the month of August saw a push in the President’s performance on Power and Economy to an average rating (3) following a continuous poor rating since February 2014.
“This figure illustrates the highest positive rating recorded in power supply from the inception of the NOIPolls power monitoring polls in January 2013. These are some of the key findings from the Governance Snap Poll conducted in the week of August 25th 2014.
“These results represent the eighth in the 2014 monthly series of governance polls conducted by NOIPolls to gauge the opinions and perceptions of Nigerians regarding the approval rating of the President, the performance of the President on key elements of his transformation agenda, and the state of power supply in the country.
The firm explained respondents to the poll were asked three specific questions on job performance of President Goodluck Jonathan over the past 1 month and that the results revealed that 61 percent of adult Nigerians surveyed approve of the President’s performance where 41 percent approve and 20 percent strongly approve.
“A total of 26 percent of the respondents assessed disapprove of the President’s performance, where 18 percent disagree and 8 percent strongly disagree. Furthermore, 13 percent remained neutral as they neither approve nor disapprove.
On zonal analysis, the NOIPolls said “the South-East and the South-South zones accounted for the largest fraction of respondents who approve of the President’s job performance with 89 percent and 74 percent respectively. The North-Central and North-West zones have the highest proportion of respondents who were neutral with 20 percent and 17 percent.
“Also, the North-East zone and the North-West zone have the largest proportion of respondents who disapprove of the President’s job performance with 41 percent and 38 percent respectively.
“Monthly trend analysis of the President’s approval rating reveals that the President’s approval rating remained almost stable with a slight decline by 1-point to stand at 61 percent in August 2014.
This current result and that obtained in January 2014 both represent the second highest rating since NOIPolls started its governance poll in January 2013. Likewise, the average rating of the President’s job performance after 8 months is at 56.5 percent, this implies that the President performed above his 8- month’s average by 5-points.

Any objective person who evaluates GEJ objectively by key performance indices will agree that but for the politically(APC) motivated insurgency in parts of the North East, the President is doing quite well. 12 new federal universities established in 3 years represents the fastest ever rate of development in the sector. Ground breaking innovations and achievements in infrastructure provision, health care, rail and water transportation, petroleum and power sector reforms stand GEJ out as a reform oriented President of the type previously unseen in the Nation's annals. GEJ has earned the chance to seek the leadership of this Country for a 2nd term. I firmly believe that from the new era of transparent, free and fair elections that have characterized the GEJ years, one can only expect that 2015 will herald an unprecedented, credible, free and fair election that will culminate in a resounding victory for President jonathan and the PDP in 2015.

If president Jonathan violated the constitution or has shown gross incompetence that could warrant impeachment, go ahead and impeach him. You don't have to wait for events in Rivers state to activate moves for his impeachment. but we all know that it's all about politics.

They just want to see Jonathan's back by hook or by crook. they can't wait for elections because they know it will be a tough call.
Very useless party-APC

APC is a party of noisemakers. This Honourable Femi attended sitting yesterday without raising a motion for impeachment but has come to disturb our ear drums on the pages of newspaper. He knows he can't try it on the floor so the best option is to make noise and raise empty threats on the media. That was how they elected Ngige as Governor in the pages of nation newspaper and social media.

Unknown to prof. Alagoa and his group, most of the problems they identified are challenges which Jonathan's new PIB that is presently awaiting passage by NASS seeks to address.

All those issues of gas infrastructure, ecological challenges arising from oil exploration, gas pipelines, infrastructural development of the Niger Delta region and ownership stakes of the oil have been seriously addressed in the PIB. Rather than write political letters which is of no end, they should rather mandate their respresentuves to mount pressure on both the senate and house of Reps to expedite action on PIB.

That Bill was well formulated and holds the key to the development of the oil bearing communities.

Don't mind them. Instead of them to agitate for passage of PIB, they will join General Obasanjo to write political letters. And coming at this time, their motives are highly suspect

Your s.tupidity on this platform is grossly underestimated. If you can spare some time to use those brains in your skull, you would come to realise that you have been spewing rubbish.

At no time has FG refused to stick with its latest agreement with ASUU. the bone of contention is that Fagge has refused to heed to the call of majority of his fellow lecturers to call off a strike but is still insisting on a 2009 agreement that ihe knows FG cannot implement.

we are not ripe for this shameful display that we call democracy.

Mr Man, I don't know where you get your facts from but all I know is that they are fundamentally faulty.

First, Nigeria's debt doesn't stand upto 8T as you alleged. The last time I checked, Nigeria's Foriegn debt stood at $6.6B which is less than a trillion and even domestic borrowing has been brought down from 800b in 2011 to 500B in 2013.

Secondly, Nigeria's debt to GDP ratio stands at 3% ratio. This percentage is very fine and low compared to that of many advanced countries.

Thirdly, The chairman of SURE P appeared before Senate and clarified the true position of SURE P funds. The alleged 500B are not missing but form the allocations that have been paid to the states and LGA's.

It is a shame that most people come to Nairaland with no intelligence whatsoever and tend to believe any story that comes across hook, line and sinker. Too bad

Look at the number of projects on display here, they could have passed unnoticed if not for the ingenuity of the information Minister to package a programme that will evaluate performance and showcase the transformation agenda of the FG. Kudos Maku.

On point. I like the whole concept. It's more like a peer review mechanism of sorts though I have heard the Minister on TV clarify that they do not score states but offer journalists and the public the platform to make their own independent assessments based on the projects showcased in each state. Every democratic set up needs this kind of programme that will offer a hindsight into what government at each level do with tax payers money.

I believe strongly that the electricity sector is one key area that GEJ will transform. I'm impressed by the strategy adopted so far in addressing age long darkness in Nigeria. The reforms appear very revolutionary and if you have lived in UK before, you would appreciate that FG is on the right track.

This is how the system works over there. There is nothing like a central power corporation like PHCN in UK. The process is decentralized with private sector companies driving generation and distribution.
Politics / Re: Sure-p Is Working : Road Trip Abuja - Lokoja by Arobam: 12:50am On Oct 25, 2013
Obj awarded this road at the cost of over 250bn but failed to mobilise beyond 12bn.
It is the SURE P Funds that has been used to renew funding on the road.
The level of progress on the road has significantly increased from what it used to be before. Kudos to GEJ

Education / Re: ‘quit Playing Politics And Go Back To Class’, Maku Tells ASUU by Arobam: 6:49pm On Oct 23, 2013
dayo23: fund like how? , when none of the financial agreement hav been met since 2009. Pls be constructive with ur argument.

Yes, funds. Go and investigate the figure that FG allocated for education in the 2009 Budget and compare it with the present 2013 Budget, you would notice the significant increase. Besides, you ought to be aware that Ngozi Okonjo Iweala announced the release of 130B as partial fulfillment of FG's agreement with ASUU.

fabby26:

Go back to classroom with such a command tone as if they are his subjects. Talking to intellectuals that senior him in that manner is being rude, not for the fact he's a minister with jumbo pay package, that should not make him to talk down on them like that in such manner.
Not that am in support of ASUU for taking it this far

In fairness to Gej, he has really tried to dialogue with ASUU but the lecturers appear stubborn and desperate to paint the FG as insensitive to the plight of Nigerian students and the educational sector. The strike is being sustained in bad faith.

No other administration has funded the Educational sector more than Jonathan has done in the past 2 years.
First, Jonathan increased education funding to all time high of 450 billion from less than 300 billion it used to be before 2011.
Secondly, Jonathan specialized TETFUNDS with increased budgetary allocation.
Since the strike began, Jonathan has given additional 130 billion to ASUU. No other administration has coughed out this much for ASUU.
It's unparalleled. ASUU should be considerate and call of this strike in the interest of the very students whom they are fighting for.
The funding deficit of education is an age long problem that cannot be solved in one fell swoop.
Let reason prevail.
