Politics / Re: CBN To Introduce N5000 Note In 2013 by charlsecy4(m): 10:52am On Aug 31, 2012
IT IS NOT THE N5000 NOTE THAT WILL INCREASE INFLATION, BUT THE RELUCTANCE OF PEOPLE TO ACCEPT LOWER-DENOMINATION COINS. As traders avoid coins, prices tend to become the next available whole note. For example, certain goods would have been, say, N2, but because of the reluctance of people to use coins, prices of such items have become N5 - a note.

The truth is that Nigerians have this reluctance to handle coins, and that is why coining any currency is usually a waste of resources. It is high time the authorities understood the particular situation in Nigeria.

I am of the opinion that the authorities should scrap coins completely, and convert N1 and N2 to notes. That way, they will gain acceptance, and prices of articles that would have been say, N2, but currently priced at N5, would fall to the real price of N2.

Even if N5000 must be introduced, let 50k, N1 and N2 become notes.

THE INTRODUCTION OF N5000 IS NOT THE SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEMS. OUR SOLUTION LIES IN BOOSTING THE PRODUCTIVE BASE OF THE ECONOMY AND CREATION OF EMPLOYMENT.

Politics / Re: CBN To Introduce N5000 Note In 2013 by charlsecy4(m): 10:46am On Aug 31, 2012
The Good Side:

Massive savings due to economy of printing the note: On average, it may cost the same amount of resources to produce a N10 note as a N5000 note.

Ease of high-value transactions: A large amount of money could be carried about with ease.
Conditionally, it also enhances operational efficiencies. The number of times banks load their ATM machines will also reduce. Banks can now load up to 5 times the value in their ATM and reduces rate of stocking and associated costs, but this will be true only if the maximum amount of N2m that could be loaded on ATM is reviewed upward.

The Bad Side:

Psychologically-induced inflation: As traders avoid coins, prices tend to become the next available whole note. For example, certain goods would have been, say, N2, but because of the reluctance of people to use coins, prices of
such items have become N5 - a note. IT IS NOT THE N5000 NOTE THAT WILL INCREASE INFLATION, BUT THE RELUCTANCE OF PEOPLE TO ACCEPT LOWER-DENOMINATION COINS.

Fake currency: Big business for counterfeiters. A fake N5000 note! Imagine. Just a bundle makes N2.5m.

Encourages black deal: Cash transactions, unlike bank transactions, are relatively untraceable. This attribute of high-denomination currency makes it the preferred currency for storing black money created out of tax evasion, and other illegal activities.

Reduced banking: Imagine. You have only one N5000 note. Where are you going to keep it? Home or bank? You are likely going to keep it at home to meet transactional and precautionary purposes. When this happens on a large scale, the result? poor capital supply to the economy.

The solution lies in diversifying the economy, and expansion of employment opportunities. That is the magic wand that will put Nigeria on
the path of real growth.

You can't say. The bullion van has no will of its own, and was driven by a man who knows the law. It is the driver that should be punished, not the van, and the bankers are aware of this.

N1m = 2 bundles wraps of N5000 note.
N5m = 2 bundles of N5000 note.

Rule:
1 wrap = 100 notes.
1 bundle = 5 wraps (= 500 notes)

Family / Re: Bride Price And Dowry; the Difference And Similarity. Which do you practice? by charlsecy4(m): 7:59am On Aug 24, 2012
kelz88: So if after the introduction they don't end up getting married do they have to return the stuff?
The mbata "introduction" usually occurs after marriage, especially the traditional one.

Talking about bride price; the family of the bride has to repay the bride price to the groom's family if the marriage fails. If not, the woman is still traditionally the husband's wife.

Romance / Re: Can A Lady Pay The Bride Price? by charlsecy4(m): 12:11am On Aug 24, 2012
For your information, dowry is paid by the woman or her family. Check your dictionary if in doubt....

The Defender: It is normal for a man to pay the dowry before getting married?
sexkillz: It is an insult for a man, to ask a lady or expect her to pay her own dowry
Alecia.M:
a man who isn't capable of paying a babe dowry has no business getting married.
Sijo01: Wat buzex doz a man who cannt pay a dowry hs wit marriage?......n why no earth wil a woman pay her own dowry?.......help in financing d wed'n, fair enof. Payin d dowry, not reasonable.

I have read even in newspapers where writers mistake dowry for bride price.

What is common between Dowry and Bride Price?

Both are payments, monetary or in kind, or both, made for marriage rites purposes.

What is the difference between Dowry and Bride Price?

Bride Price is an amount of money or property paid by the man (bridegroom or groom) or his family to the family of the woman (bride) upon the marriage of the woman to the man.

Dowry refers to property or money brought by a bride [or her family] to her husband on their marriage.

Some cultures simultaneously practice both.

I advise you go for Statistics, which has a wider application than Physics. In Nigeria, Physics has a very limited application. Statictics is a very important stuff for any organisation, and is a veritable tool of planning. The place of Physicists is usually the classroom, at least in our country.

Meanwhile, you can buy another UTME form.

Health / Bees Sting A Man To Death In Delta by charlsecy4(m): 9:45am On Aug 10, 2012
UGHELLI—OGBOIN-Ama Community in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, has been thrown into confusion following the death of a bulldozer operator with Setraco Construction Company, Mr. Samuel Onuabuchi, who was stung to death by bees.

Vanguard gathered that the bulldozer operator was attacked by the bees while he was removing trees and debris on the Ogboin-Ama and Akugbene community road that was contracted to his firm for repairs.

A source said Onuabuchi was stung to death before people could come to his rescue, adding that other workers on site with him could not go near him for fear of being stung.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said Onuabuchi was, however, rushed to Bomadi General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

Describing the death of Onuabuchi as shocking and painful, a management staff of the company, who also pleaded anonymity, said the company would miss the deceased. Disclosing that the deceased hailed from Anambra State and a father of four, he said Mr Onuabuchi was
aged 44.”

Career / Were They Right To Have Sacked The Gateman? by charlsecy4(m): 9:17pm On Aug 01, 2012
Mr. Lagbaja, a business man, urgently needed to buy some new cars and so he drove down to Company A, an automobile dealer.

When he got to Company A’s gate, he blared his horn, requesting that the gate open the gate so he could drive in. The gateman refused, stating clearly that it was against the company’s policy – customers were not allowed to drive their cars into the company’s premises for any reason.

On hearing this, Mr Lagbaja asked to speak to the Manager. The gateman who felt he was doing his job, insisted that there was no point in seeing the Manager because the rules should not be bent. And so, Mr Lagbaja had to leave Company A and go over to Company B, a competing automobile dealer.

On getting to the gate of Company B, Mr Lagbaja was told again that he could not drive into the premises – company policy. Like he did at Company A, Mr Lagbaja asked the gateman if he could speak to the Manager. This time, the gateman sent for the manager.

Mr Lagbaja explained to the manager that the reason why he could not leave his car parked outside was that he had about 50 million Naira in it and he felt it wasn’t safe.

On hearing this, the manager instructed the gateman to open the gate for Mr Lagbaja to drive in and he bought cars worth 50 million Naira. He also narrated to Company B manager, the experience he had with the gateman at Company A, and how he was turned back because the gateman insisted he couldn’t speak to the manager.

Now, the managers of both companies A and B happened to be friends, and so naturally, company B manager put a call across to company A manager and told him what he had heard from Mr Lagbaja and how much sales he had lost because he was turned back from the gate.

The gateman at company A was sacked immediately the story got to the ears of the management.

Be the judge. Were they right to have sacked the gateman?

I'll so much appreciate your humble responses

Personally, I feel you may regret it if, and when eventually you grow beard. An Igbo proverb says "ebe onye no, ebe o noghi a na-agu ya." I can tell you maintaining a beard is not so easy a task. If there is a way I could go beardless, I would embrace it. However, I have embraced my beard and mustache because I don't believe in using artificial means to alter the work of nature.

Please brother, I would advise you just forever forget about this idea of yours.... Nobody will disrespect you JUST BECAUSE you have no beard. Also, get that idea of being seen as a "small" boy because you have no beard - it is not true!

Politics / Re: Aregbesola - Jihad Not War Of Hate by charlsecy4(m): 1:57pm On Jul 30, 2012
According to the authoritative Dictionary of Islam jihad is defined as: "A religious war with those who are unbelievers in the mission of Muhammad ... enjoined especially for the purpose of advancing Islam and repelling evil from Muslims."

An accurate interpretation of the concept of Jihad is provided by the BBC about how Muslims describe three different types of struggles:

A believer's internal struggle to live out the Muslim faith as well as possible.

The struggle to build a good Muslim society.

Holy war: the struggle to defend Islam, with force if necessary.
