Business / Why Blackberry Is Posting Continuous Losses Despite Its Popularity In Africa! by charlsecy4(m): 8:40pm On Nov 29, 2012
BlackBerry Is Posting Continuous Losses simply because it's losing ground in Europe and America! Any big international company that is losing its market share in Europe and America [maybe Asia, in some cases] is heading towards failure. A company that loses its share in Africa, but gains in America and/or Europe will be better off than a company that gains some market share in Africa, but is losing in America and/or Europe. For example, Apple has very little market in Africa, yet that doesn't stop it from topping the list of world's mobile devices manufacturers, because it has a very strong hold in Europe and America...

Reasons:

Market depth is an important factor.

Some estimates put it this way;

GDPs:
Africa: $2 trillion.
Europe: $15.8 trillion.
USA: $15 trillion.

Imagine. Africa's GDP is just about 6% of total GDPs of Europe and the United States of America.

Income and consumption levels. Apart from the huge European and American markets, there are high levels of consumption and income, which boost business profits.

You see fairly used products coming from America to Nigeria; have you ever seen where products used in Nigeria are shipped to Europe or America? As these "fairly" used products are being shipped to Nigeria, they're producing more new ones and models, which would be bought, used and shipped to Africa. Every year, big companies dole out new models of their products, and millions would be sold. When these products come to Africa, the owners will use them for years, repairing and repairing them over and over, while newer models are being produced and sold over there.

You'll agree with me that fairly used BlackBerry devices is a big market in Nigeria, and this adds no value to RIM revenue, because trade on "Tokunbo" is a mere transfer of ownership among users, no additional revenue for the manufacturers. In fact, it will even prevent them from making new sales.

Family / Unemployed Man Marrying An Unemployed Woman; Your Take? by charlsecy4(m): 7:21pm On Nov 28, 2012
If a guy wants to marry, but is not gainfully employed, and it happens that the girl he is in love with and wants to marry is also unemployed; do you think they should go on with the marriage?

Phones / Signed-in Nairaland Does Not Work On UC Browser! by charlsecy4(m): 7:54pm On Nov 27, 2012
I use UC Browser 8.7 downloaded at http://ucweb.com. I have noticed I could use Nairaland on it, but couldn't sign into my Nairaland account.

If I try to sign into my account, it will fail; the Nairaland Homepage turns up, and I will be viewing the content as a Guest. This was happening even when I was using UC Browser 8.6.

This happens regardless of the network used.

Have you experienced that?

Yield: Why say, "I took" instead of "I ate?" You don't "take tea, meat pie and biscuits," you "drink and eat" them.

charlsecy4: "Drink" and "ate" are correct in that sense, but using "take" in place of them is not wrong! "Take" is so general you can use it in many senses, take water, take drugs, take oranges, take pap, etc.

Yield: To me, it's not an adequate verb to use to express the action.

Unfortunately, personal opinions are hardly important in determining the validity of grammar. "Take" can serve, and is used in standard English to convey such information! I know what I am saying...

Did you read the post?

It's true, pap and tea could make one sleepy, especially when one is NOT engaged in a physical activity.

Culture / Re: What Is The Relationship Between Madness And Laughing? by charlsecy4(m): 1:00pm On Nov 25, 2012
ACM10: The difference between laughter and madness is "STIMULUS". Stimulus must precede a normal laugh, but madman laughs both in the presence and absence of stimulus.

Who told you there's no stimulus for a mad person to laugh? Stimulus must not always be perceivable. Do you know their thoughts? Humans can laugh following some thoughts. Don't think the mad laugh without stimulus, since you don't know their thoughts.
Religion / Should A Christian Hotelier Allow Unmarried Couples To Lodge In A Room? by charlsecy4(m): 12:15pm On Nov 25, 2012
No doubt, hotel is especially beneficial to visitors and travellers. I, myself, have experienced the usefulness of a hotel, when I arrived Owerri, on my first visit there, by 12:40am (midnight). It was a hotel that saved me that day from the killing cold and my inability to reach my final destination that night.

But, what if you were a Christian owner of a hotel, or a receptionist; and a guy and a gal came to your hotel to take a room, from all indications, to have sex, what should you do? Should you deny them entry, or let them in, knowing fully well their intentions? If you allowed them in, could you be said to be a partaker in their iniquity?

Abali1: Or should I just pretend to be AS and try to find out if the person is AA as the relationship progresses. Because, when you stay with me for sometime you will never know that I am SS.

If you DECEIVED a person into marriage, just know the union is null and void from the beginning. If you lie a person to the altar, no marriage actually exists even if there was a ceremony. Marriage is a covenant; you can't get married under falsehood. Get yourself occupied, and pray to GOD about it. I am sure there are the likes of you that are happily married. Let me echo Lumideezle's suggestion: Live your life, if you meet a lady forget the fact that you are SS and enjoy her like every other person would. When the time comes for her to know, the decision would be left to her. It's not like you have a terminal illness or something; so my guy enjoy your life and stop worrying over the fact that you are SS!
