You did n't answer my question sir, if the bank has no hand in this crime why do they facilitate the Man's escape from the banking hall, why not arrest the man and hand him over to the police knowing fully well that the name of the bank is at stake and the man committed a crime. Now let it be known to you that western police are not working base on their intelligent alone but also through public help. Also the naira transaction was done in that same bank, why not block the housa man's account pending full investigation?
The way some of you are judging this case, i pray you don't find yourself in such situation.
CC:kachisbarbie

That is the question FCMB defenders failed to answer on this thread.

Mallam took the victim to the bank,
Bank allowed the Mallan escape, while the police arrested the victim.

To me both mallam and victim should be telling the Police where the counterfeit money came from.

The evidence of a counterfeit money shows a crime has being committed.

As things stand....there is no evidence the man got dollars from FCMB. He got the dollars....from the Hausa man....who then pretended to him that he got them from FCMB.....without showing him documentary proof.
The guy got swindled by a 419er....and a shrewd one at that. He should have gone to another bank to do his business. Preferably GTBank, or Zenith....or even Ecobank.
bushdoc9919:

Let us start from the begining of the story
1.Man goes to bank.
2.Man wants to change money from naira to dollars.
3.Bank says....WE do not have the money.
4.Man is dissapointed.
5.Hausa man in bank.....who is not a staff....or even related to staff....offers to change kudi for the man
6.Man agrees....and they leave the bank to transact business...
7.Man goes home...dollars fake.
8.Man goes to Hausa man...who admits the money is fake.
9. Hausa man says....I got money from FCMB (Without proof!).
10.Man and Hausa guy go back to bank.....
11.Of course...bank denies it.(And there is no proof that the money came from the bank....it all came from Hausa man).
12.Things kick off....
My guy was duped.
Since bank said.....NO Money....he should have gone to another bank. Not to some guy who was out to scam him.
Am sure scammmer don close account....don move kudi elsewhere.
We all make mistakes....better luck next time.

Why do Nigerians love dodging questions.

Why did the bank allow the Mallam escape. Simple question you people can't answer .

Will that mallam escape if they had gone to the Police station?

Note:
It was the same mallam the decide to approach the bank, not the Victim.

Don't worry, when the guy gets to court or wherever, he would know the limit to which third party involvement applies.
We've heard cases of people that were defrauded right there inside the bank! by someone claiming to be a receiving teller.
If banks could absolve themselves of such cases, this one won't be an exception.

Definitely their control/legal team would be on the matter right now. It wouldn't be overlooked, but the bank would definitely not indemnify the victim.

I pity the man, that was a lot of money to be so stupid with_ but people have to realise that you meeting a random person inside the bank doesn't always make the bank liable.

I really wonder how some humans reason. There is always a prosecuting and a defence counsel. Someone for and against a motion, that's what spices up life.
Learn that ASAP.

Lol,

And who's the prosecution and the defence here.
You do not seems understand the argument here.

The bank should have been neutral.Simple!

Just imagine they had gone to the police station, will the mallam be allowed to escape?

If the victim wasn't sitting in front of the bank, the police wouldn't have met him there let alone taking him away.
The Hausa man and the victim came together, the victim acted irrationally. If he was calm, just maybe...the police would have met both of them inside the bank.
The bank obviously invited the police to disperse the crowd clinging on their gate, disrupting their services...

Yes, I maintain FCMB did right by holding the Hausa man, because I am sure the man might not be alive now based on how the average Nigerian reasons and act.

FCMB won't be on any hot seat. Hot seat my foot grin
They have seen worse cases, this one is just a 'tomato can'.

Get this straight, if they wanted to mob the mallam, he won't be alive to enter that bank.

Why did the bank invite the police to arrest him, when you claimed banks don't invite police.

Who is FCMB that can't be on the hot seat for these, are they God.
The last time a bank bragged about doing such nonsense, they end up issuing apologies.

The emboldened is exactly why I said lots of Nigerians are not privy to banking operations. The bank has no right whatsoever to detain either of them(hand them over to the police). The dollar exchange didn't take place in the bank, neither did it involve a staff. It's not the bank's business.
They didn't allow the Hausa man escape, they only refused to allow harm befall him within their premises, which is perfect.

I've read the story over and over, nowhere did I see the man(victim) was detained, he was pushed out for constituting a nuisance and disrupting banking services which is totally allowed.

If he wants to arrest the Hausa man, he should go organise his own police or whatever he wants to use, and pick up the man IN HIS OFFICE, right where the transaction happened.

Which banking operation are you claiming to know.
Haven't you seen case where bank invite police, when they can't control the situation?
Didn't you read where the Police took the victim away. So who invited the police then.

Listen to yourself claiming the bank action protecting the Mallam is perfect, undecided when both the mallam and the victim came to the bank together.

You can defend your employer as long as you can, but if these issue is not resolved FCMB will be on the hot seat for this.
And FCMB HQ will be demanding answers from that BM.

Detain for what?

The police will conduct normal investigation.

The police is in the best Position to handle this disputes.

The victim should have gone to the mallam's office with the Police. This issue would have been resolved.

The good news here is that the Mallam is not denying knowing the victim.

The mallam willingly went to the bank with the guy.

The bank's action created more suspicion.

The matter tire me. If this case gets to court, the way FCMB would remove themselves from the case would do some people like filmtrick.

You did a transaction with the hausa man in his office wherever, then came to bank to shout, and the bank should be dumb enough to release the Hausa man, so that they can lynch him?
Why they sprayed teargas on the man is where I have a problem, but then I can imagine what an irate customer he must have been.

Let them be shouting bank, bank...sometimes Nigerians think they know their rights on banking operations but they know nada. That's why they would keep 'guying' them. grin

The bank wouldn't be blamed if, they had handed both of them(mallam and victim) to police.

But they allowed the man to escape and handed to man over to police. That's totally wrong.

This is as interesting as it is intriguing. The basic elements of the story are clear and to me we have 3 key players each with a motive and opportunity to have perpetrated this act

The Bank
The Bank is my number one suspect only because banks are known not only for round tripping Forex but for arranging insider Forex sales between customers with inflow(that is customers who get direct deposits of USD to their accounts) and other customer who wanted to buy. If the USD was sourced officially from the bank some record will be available to trace the money. If it was a private arrangement brokered by a bank official then the plot immediately assumes a new dimension

The Hausa Man
The Hausa man is most likely everyone's first suspect. After all he supplied the USD. What baffles me is he didnt run and even agreed take the Victim back to the bank to resolve the issue.
His actions do not suggest culpability but again we have really sharp guys who can play mind games

The Purported Victim
Never rule out the most unlikely suspect. I will guess that the victim has a boss who truly owns the money. I have seen many cases where the purported victim turns out to be the perpetrator

Stay tuned as this interesting case unfolds

Since the mallam was bold enough to go with the guy to the bank, i suspect the bank knows about the deal.

Bro, go back and read the story once again. It says, the bank locked the victim out and the mallam was kept inside the bank. Creating scene in a banking hall, thereby bringing distraction and establishing chaos amongst other customers is a no no, as far as banking policy is concern. Hence, the expulsion of the victim outside the banking hall.

And why didn't the bank lock both the victim and mallam out, since they came to the bank together for the complaint.
Only to allow the mallam escape.

I hope that bank won't frame that man.

You see why the Bank is actinging suspicious here.

Look at how some people here are busy accusing the Bank. The Abokki man should be held responsible and not FCMB. Where did the bank go wrong? The victim was told by the Bank that there was no money, and the man sheepishly followed abokki man to his office to transact the business which was done outside the bank.
Now the bubble has bursted and Abokki is now accusing the bank of being responsible for the fake dollar. How come he collected money from the bank and even went home without confirming the money? Also, how did the victim in turn, exchanged the dollar with the abokki without confirming the authenticity of the money before leaving?
Both the victim and the abokki should go and sort themselves out jare!

And why did the bank allow the Hausa man escape.
And the police arrested the victim.
The bank should have detained both parties .

This is injustice by FCMB

Of course....they would deny it.....NO DOCUMENTATION FROM THE BANK OR FROM THE HAUSA MAN....NOT EVEN A CAMERA PHOTO....since you went to do business outside the bank with another man.

Sorry my man.....but you were the one who caused your problem. You should have gone to another bank....and you should have not done forex business without DOCUMENTARY PROOF!...AND WITH SOME GUY WHO IS NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO DO BUSINESS IN FOREX.

Sorry most banks don't do FOREX directly with costumers, i have experienced this several times.

Since, ABOKI (dollar guy) claimed he got the fake dollars from the bank, the bank should come clean.

That FCMB branch is guilty here.

-The 320 Unity Bank sacked bankers
-The 1,200 Zenith Bank sacked bankers
-The 800 Access Bank sacked bankers
-And the 400 Mainstreet (now Skye bank) sacked bankers.
#BeTheJudge.

You worked in the bank in the past five years that GEJ was president, you had no issues with your job. Instead, you received promotions and increased salary packages. You were happy.
However, in those five years, you committed a lot of energy calling President GEJ "clueless". You and your friends resolved to vote him out on the election day. When the d-day finally came, you all voted out GEJ, not minding who was going to replace him since, according to you, a "# NEPAbillCertificate" would be far more efficient than GEJ. In fact you even preferred a goat to GEJ.

Finally, you got your wish and GEJ is out and a "body language Administration" is now in place. Three months later, your bank fires you due to the Stone Age economic policies of the body language regime.

Now that you're jobless, you are looking for GEJ to blame but he is gone.

Moral Lesson: most misfortunes are self inflicted. Food for thought. Happy Sunday everybody.

And how do you know this bankers voted against GEJ.
Two of these banks are controlled by SSners and benefits ft GEJ regime. I.e ZENITH MD is now the CBN governors.

Just tell us you are not happy GEJ lost .

Since he can cook and cooks better, plus he has a more flexible job, why is he making his life more difficult by insisting she cooks because he's the man? See as people make their lives difficult because they want to live by the dictates of the society.

He should cook when he can and when he can't let her know he can't.

I won't totally blame the wife. If she been the type that used to do all that before marriage and the changed after marriage, then I'd blame her. Everyone should endeavor to marry those who share their views on marriage. Not marry them and try to bend them into what you feel they should be. Recipe for friction.

For all the guy knows, she may have married him because of his skills in the kitchen.
That's why you don't marry someone and hope they change overnight.

What they need is compromise.
Both of them should meet each other half way.

Since the wife is here as you said, I suggest she stops dragging her feet because he's always doing it. She should sit up and try too. Nobody appreciates being left to do it all. She should stop taking it for granted.

Are implying the wife delegate the cooking role to her husband?

If i am the man i will start cooking my own food alone, and stop complaining, lets see how the woman will feel.

Irrespective of your talent you don't start a fight with any media house, because they determine what is Aired on their channel.

Just look at Eedris Abdulkareem and TUFACE both from Kenny's music.

While Eedris Abdulkareem was busy fighting Kenny's music.

TUFACE was silently building is own record label, until he left Kenny's.
