Politics / Re: Sagay, Others Differ Over Renaming Of UNILAG In Honour Of Abiola by niddamugu(m): 12:04pm On May 30, 2012
Sagay is very correct. I am a product UNIBEN and I think UNILAG is already a brand on its own. There is nothing wrong with having June 12 as a National Holiday - MKO Abiola day just as we have Martin Luther King Jnr Day in the US. Or alternatively, build another institution from scratch for the same purpose. Worse case: RENAME Aso Rock to the same since his attempt at getting there was truncated by the people in power then.

word of advice for GEJ: Never destabilize a working system in the name of politics.

The Gov. should tell us the average time one spends crossing the bridge - 1hr, 30mins or 3mins (max). Why do we need the AC for goodness sake? I won't be surprised if they start building toilets on them.

Only a greedy person can fall for such tricks. I recently received a text - "Congratulations! You have just won I,000,000 naira in the WWTBAM home play game. Simply call '080XXXXXXXX' to find how redeem your cash prize"

Notice: the figure was not 1 but "I". I called the number to encourage the bloody maga to try harder next time because he used a GLO sim to send the text. grin grin grin grin

Career / Re: Any Hope With 3.49 CGPA? by niddamugu(m): 2:48pm On May 20, 2012
tanimola22:

@OP
This happened to someone I knew back in the days. Very annoying and depressing.

I would especially stress the 3.49 CGPA on my CV because, although the degree class does not change, a 2.2 of 3.49 is clearly different from a 2.2 of 2.59.

OP, on your job CV, write:

BSc(Hons) Geophysics/whatever you studied
Grade: 3.49/5.00. Let them go figure the class of degree themselves. If you just write 2.2, you will be lumped together with those with 2.52 kind of 2.2.

Many people with boundary 2:1 never include their CGPAs on their CVs. Similarly, many people with boundary 1:1 never include their CGPAs on their CVs. In my view, the people that proudly include their CGPAs on their CVs are those that have well above the minimum required to attain a particular degree class. OP, you fall in the latter category.

All the best mate!

T22.

Good talk. Most people do not know this and they are all categorized as the same. CGPA is very necessary nowadays.

Jakumo: If I were as rich as Mr. Zuckerberg, I would be very wary of marrying a medical doctor, given the deep working knowledge doctors have regarding drugs that kill in a manner that mimics "natural causes", without leaving chemical traces for the coroner to detect.

Besides, for an Asian woman, this one definitely wins no awards for feminine beauty. Matter of fact, she looks downright mean.

I'm taking bets now on how long this union lasts.

That's why you are not HIM.

Simply wish him well. Besides they have been dating for 9 years so there's nothing new that can surface that has not yet surfaced. He's not into showbiz - music & movies. Bill Gates and the likes would definitely be there to mentor them.

Education / Re: Produce Good Graduates: Jonathan Tell Professors by niddamugu(m): 5:28pm On May 18, 2012
docokwy:

WTF. There are professors of 65- 70 still teaching in the best universities in developed countries. Some old folks are smarter than the young ones especially when it comes to having a good grasp of basic concepts and principles of a subject. How many young people can do maths these days without a calculator? Some old academics may be lacking in the current infotech wave but that is where it ends. It is not a case of age, it is a case of era.

That is the problem with the Nigerian system. We always believe in the older the better. I expected GEJ to reduce the working age to 60 and allow for young and active ones between 28 & 50 to drive the system. The young ones cannot step in when we keep fielding and extending the irrelevance of the old ones.

Zediccus: This is were i have a problem. Must they be fenced ? Can't there be an estate with good security system so as to avoid fencing ? Putting up a fence will definately hide its beauty.

Where is beauty without safety? In Nigeria, owning a home is safety first before beauty........
Properties / Re: Is This Practical In Nigeria....comments Please. by niddamugu(m): 4:36pm On May 18, 2012
Anything is possible in Nigeria. But the only snag is the security system - no fence at all. Or is there any provision for that? This is Nigeria and there must be provision for "KiriKiri" high fence otherwise... I rest my case. grin grin grin grin

They loan it , they loot it , they share it and then tell us ..so whats the point ?

I'm with you totally on this. I have stopped complaining about the so-called leaders. I encourage all NLanders to go about their normal duties. If you have a job make sure you do it well and if, unfortunately, you are searching for one, trust God that someday he would open the "book of remembrance" and grant you His divine favour.

Let's leave these leaders alone - they will get tired, and that will be very very soon.

@All

I could not read all posts into details but i'm sure someone may have posted what i'm about to post.

1. This car could have been gotten cheaper with patient online research (google trader, dealfish, etc)
2. N2m is not child's play
3. The poster has all the blame (100%)
4. The one you know cannot be trusted talkless of the who you don't know
5. How did you come about the money?
6. From all indications you have lost your money going by your claim
7. A brand new car can develop faults which can be attributed to factory defects and can be repaired/replaced at no extra cost from buyer. But for a used car - no warranty/guarantee and therefore buyer bears all the risk.

Bottom line:

Never buy a Nigerian used car from an unknown source especially on a faceless forum like NL
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Militants Earns More Than Graduates by niddamugu(m): 1:22pm On May 16, 2012
Check out these analyses:

Most "First Class" & "Second Class Upper" students of Nigerian universities & colleges become Doctors, Engineers, Top Bankers, Lecturers, Scientists, Economists, Astronomers etc...

"Second Class Lower" students however, get an MBA, MPA and become Administrators, Executives and control those who had "First Class" ...

"Third Class" and "Pass" Students enter into Politics and become Governors, Ministers, Senators and control both categories above.

"Failures" and "Drop-outs" join the underworld (Boko-Haram, Oil Militants, Armed Robbers, Kidnappers, Drug pushers, Gigolos etc) then control all of the above.

Interestingly true, isn't it?

Mark my word, Nigeria will be a great Nation... I just pray I get to see it before I die.

I have followed your contributions on NL and for this comment alone - you have given hope to any hopeless Nigerian!

Nigeria is really going through a reformative process. Let's forget about the looting in "high places", those who indulge in it lack the genuine wisdom of God. I believe the time is coming when anyone aspiring to be in power would rather want to earn a good name than steal from the treasury. Read Prov. 22v1 & Eccl. 7v1-end.

Let me educate you if you don't know, Bankruptcy is an easily obtainable status, and it can happen to the most careless, spendthrift, "I have arrived" kinda people, and that is exactly what D'Banj is.

MC Hammer went Bankrupt
The great Marvin Gaye went Bankrupt
Meat Loaf went Bankrupt
TLC went Bankrupt

And you know what? These people have made over 100 TIMES the amount this local champion D'Banj is here flexing with his Aston Martin crap. Some even died after they fell into the dreaded hole of poverty!
Here's a link to open your eyes to the shocking reality:

http://www.biblemoneymatters.com/famous-musician-bankruptcies-from-millions-to-broke/

And you know one interesting trend? Producers never suffer the same bankruptcy fate as their artistes! And you know why? Because they're not the ones under the prying eyes of the public!
A producer takes a laid back role, makes his money and lives comfortably.
He has no-one spying on him and rating his dressing
He has no-one to apologize to if he suddenly decides to start growing a dirty 'Fada Abraham' beard.
He's not the one on stage working his arse off to the crowd.
He's not the one taking cocaine and heroin to help him perform more 'energetically' on his tours.
It will not matter if he has an accident that costs him both legs (God forbid sha) - so long as he's still got his hands to man the BeatCreator engine, he's still got his job -- But you know you CANNOT say the same about the artiste.

Trust me - D'Banj is the MOST vulnerable of the two. The sooner you come to terms with this cold fact, the better you'll be able to handle the future reality smiley

All the same, I wish both gentlemen the best.

A word is enough for the wise lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed. My Bro, you simply opened my brain wink wink wink

As for the Poster: you already have a job. If your wife's petty business could bring any income while you had your paid job, then you have no alternative than to expand her business and add some creativity to it. Add assorted non-alcoholic drinks & wines, get tables & chairs, music and TV (LCD) sets + DSTV - a mini bar of some sort. Within a few months (with your presence) you will be smiling to the same bank that laid you off. This must work.
