My dear it's easier for the followers, in their head, to point and kill those at the top, yet we exhibit the worst corrupt practices in our little offices.

The new Governor, Hon. Ifeanyi has already distributed tractors, Chime did the same, and also distributed bulldozers, to local governments . These tractors for farming and other heavy duty vehicle for road construction, are meant to serve communities under each LGA, but what we see is that Local Government Authorities will hoard these equipment and make it unreachable by a common farmer in the area. They never use such vehicles for grading Road until one rich man in the community gives them some money or bribes them.

I won't put most of the blame on state government, a lot of the blame for our poor performance in Agriculture also goes to our local governments.

My candid advise to Mr SPYDER880 is that a lion does not concern himself with the opinion of a sheep....I will advise you continue posting pics in the Imo thread...Those of us who appreciate your good work will support you....

He was only told to post beautiful pictures instead of searching for ugly scenes to show. This thread has mostly the good side of Enugu and those familiar with Enugu know that many of those roads being repeatedly posted here have dilapidated over time. I was in Enugu earlier in the year and made the observation but I refused to come here and post them as a way of ridiculing Enugu. I will only write it out and then move on. When I get something beautiful from Enugu I will post. Thats the spirit I want among Igbos which many of you have refused to see because of Jonathan/Buhari politics. If we want to criticise our fellow Igbo States we can do that without pictures and most importantly at the right quaters not on Nairaland.

Ugwuanyi Seeks Partnership With NBL

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state has charged Nigerian Breweries PLC (Ama Breweries in Enugu) to assist his government in the completion of the International Conference Centre in the state capital as part of its contribution to the growth of the economy of the state.

The governor equally charged the company to build parks for its heavy-duty trucks and remove them from the roads that cost government so much to maintain.

The governor made this charge when he toured the facilities of the company at the weekend.

Delivering an address during tour, he thanked the company for their Corporate Social Responsibility which they offer the government, the host communities, the general public and other non-governmental agencies in the state.

He asked the company to “assist his government in the completion of the International Conference Centre, Enugu and equally remove its heavy duty trucks from the roads around Nsude, Eke, and Ngwo in order to allow easy human and vehicular movements around the areas”.

The Managing Director of the company, Nicolaas Vervelde thanked the governor for his speedy intervention in issues affecting the operations of the company in the state especially the award of the 9th Mile Bypass for construction, which according to him “would in no doubt, de-conjest traffic around 9th Mile Corner which cripple their operations especially during festivities”. He also said he would present the request for assistance made by the governor to the management for discussion, stating that Ama Breweries which was commissioned in 2003 by Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo remains the single biggest investment by Heineken outside Netherland. He equally announced that the world-class facility is run and operated completely by Nigerians from top to bottom.

Gov. Ugwuanyi’s good tidings for schools, by Emmanuel Onwubiko

News report has it that the Enugu Universal Basic Education Board said on Monday in Enugu that it would start a School Feeding Programme in public primary schools in the state in 2016

Monday November 16th 2015 will remain evergreen in the young minds of millions of public primary school pupils in the old Eastern regional capital of Enugu following the unfolding by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of a blueprint to introduce the immediate implementation of school feeding programme.
News report has it that the Enugu Universal Basic Education Board said on Monday in Enugu that it would start a School Feeding Programme in public primary schools in the state in 2016.
The Chairperson of the board, Nneka Onuorah, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the programme would begin with a pilot scheme with selected public schools.
Onuorah said that mothers of the pupils and their communities would be involved in the programme.
She said: “Unlike in the past where the government used vendors to provide meals to children, this school feeding programme is more unique in that the community is fully involved.
“It involves the mothers; the mothers will divide themselves into teams of two or three.
“So each week, at least say team A group of mothers will cook for the children and feed the children and they will rotate.
“So the following week, team B group of mothers will now cook for the children.
“Now we find this model to be the most sustainable and we hope that we can branch it out to other schools in other communities and local governments.
“Now, if we do start, we won’t start with every school because of cost.
“We will start small, maybe we will choose one to two schools per local government; and it is always better to start small with this kind of programme.”
Onuorah, who said that the state government would include the programme in the 2016 budget, appealed to the Federal Government to support it.
She said that the board had sponsored a project aimed at de-worming pupils in primary school between June and Nov. 2015.
According to her, nearly 300,000 children benefited.
She said that the children also underwent ear, eye, and nose screening during the exercise, adding that the programme was to promote healthy growth among the children and lay a better foundation for learning.
Onuorah said that the board had organized series of training and re-training for teachers to enable them to manage schools effectively, according to a report from the Nigerian official news agency.
One fact left unmentioned by the reporter is the charisma of the person of the Enugu State governor whose mien and approach to governance has endeared him to credible civil society stakeholders. I know the governor in person and can attest that this school feeding programme won’t go like what obtains in some States such as Imo State my state of origin whereby the governor declared free education with the compliments of free feedings but what is obtainable in Imo State as I write is anything but free because apart from the tuitions which is no longer charged the other components like good teaching facilities such as school structures and well trained and motivated teachers are absent in my state. I have interviewed half a dozen senior teachers from different parts of Enugu State and what I take out from them is that all that they need to kickstarting this ambitious feeding programme are in place. My plea to the governor is that he should appoint credible supervision teams to monitor and account for the funds used in feeding the school children and to make sure that quality foods are given to our children. There must be no half measures.
Speaking about school feeding brings us to the universal fact that it is not a new concept since most countries both in the developed and developing economies have one free feeding programme or the other but essentially it is predominantly practiced in countries where the poor are in larger population.
The World Food programme which is an agency of the United Nations has clearly captured in its official website the historical documentation of the concept of school feeding. To the World Food Programme we will turn our attention to for a clearer understanding of this revolutionary scheme which the Enugu State governor has commenced for the benefits of millions s of school children in public schools from very poor backgrounds. What is School Feeding? The WFP responded thus to the question: “School programmes include meals for students and high-energy biscuits or snacks at schools where a crisis or emergency has struck. WFP also provides take-home rations to families with children who attend school regularly.”
What are the Benefits? The World Food Programme says thus: “A meal at school acts as a magnet to get children into the classroom. Continuing to provide a daily meal to children helps to keep them in school. The benefits of school feeding extend beyond the classroom. Safety Nets: the UN says that School meals help families to educate their children and protect their food security in times of crisis. School meals support development so children can become healthy and productive adults, breaking the cycle of hunger and poverty in the world’s most vulnerable areas. On the Nutritional value of the programme we are told that In poor countries, school meals are often the only regular and nutritious meal a child receives. They are an investment in the child’s future. Without them, hunger and micronutrient deficiencies can cause irreversible damage to their growing bodies. When school meals are combined with deworming and micronutrient fortification, especially when tailored to specific nutritional needs – such as those for adolescent girls – that investment is multiplied. Further, the UN believes that qualitative free feeding programme promotes qualitative Education. A daily school meal, the WFP affirms, provides a strong incentive to send children to school and keep them there. It allows children to focus on their studies rather than their stomachs and helps to increase school enrollment and attendance, decrease drop-out rates, and improve cognitive abilities. Programmes can be tailored to provide take-home rations to target girls in areas where there is a gender gap. Free school feefibg program has a business investment dimension because it promotes a viabrant Local Agriculture sector. According to the WFP as often as possible, food is bought locally, which benefits local farmers and the whole community while enhancing the sustainability of the programme.
It is safe to conclude that governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who has begun this revolutionary school feeding programme designed to reflect local peculiarities is not only promoting patriotism and qualitative education of our children but he is by and large promoting the local agricultural sector and by logical extension is creating jobs for local industrialists in Enugu State. This project deserves duplication in all parts of Nigeria so the millions of poor families will be assisted to cater for their disadvantaged children. Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria fully identifies with the Governor Ugwuanyi-led administration to promote and protect the Human Rights of Nigerians.

Nnamdi Kalu really making lots of impact in Igboland. I was extremly happy and proud hearing the handsome Enugu dude on the video below mentioning Chukwu okike Abiama in his prayers.. This is how it should be in Africa and all over Black nations. I can bet my life that lack of patriotism is one of the Major causes of chronic Corruption in Africa -- our adopted values are incompatible with our way of life. Only very few Africans will be willing to defend and die for these borrowed values for the fact they aren't original or developed by us. Humans tend to cherish and defend with their lives what they suffer to create and Not what is imported and imposed on them by local dictators and foreigners. We need to create our own values,we need to be original and most importantly we must make sure these values grow and evolve with time.God Bless Igboland

I think. ...........

that it will be better for anyone who wants to comment on my pictures on the Imo thread to go there and see the 10 last pictures I posted there. Only the second to the last has complaints about the angle of the shot showing mechanical workshop, but I was asking questions about the structure being built. Nobody answered my question about the structure I posted, the concern was the mechanic workshop.

How about the other 9? I never got a medal for that cheesy

What does anyone have to gain by showing bad pictures?

Maybe you people are mistaking me for anyone else . Please let us forge ahead and comment on the topic.

I love the whole Alaigbo equally, and will continue to show my love and respect for all of us.

Thank you all.

I didn't even think deep about the title of the thread. Enugu state ,pride of the east..hahaha. is funny though, It s really the pride state of the east though.
don't mind me, Enugu city is structured with good roads and fine houses, but they should extend their development to rural areas just like anambra state.
Anyway with such title, there is no go area for criticising the state govt.

The Igbo states don't engage in any unhealthy competition. Imo and Anambra are sister states. Any bad blood you may see here on Nairaland, is a personal beef, between the silly boy called Chino and the other one called Abagworo. Pay no mind to their shenanigans, because their views do not represent that of Anambra and Imo citizens.
I love all parts of Igbo land (though I have a very soft spot for my mum's people), and that's why I contribute positively to every Igbo state thread, even if I am not from there.

The Spyder880 I know would never mock any Igbo state. I mean, what will he gain by doing that? If he mocks Imo State, then he is also mocking Ala Igbo which he's a part of. For the fact that he is not from Imo State doesn't mean he is not allowed to show the bad side of the state, just as he does for (Enugu State), so that something can be done about it.
Igbo niine bụ ofu bikonu. I comment more on Enugu thread, but I am not from Enugu in any way, shape or form.

You were posting road side mechanics and road damage, something you dont do to anambra and eenugu. You compromised your integrity so blame yourself

And nobody should introduce free school meal programme in Enugu

Ugwuanyi seems like another Rochas in the making.
Is it the government's duties to feed school children?
Has he finished rehabilitating all dilapidated schools in Enugu?
Has he finished retraining teachers and increased their pay to motivate them?
How many schools in Enugu has adequate computers and internet services?
I hate welfare charged government....It makes people lazy.

I don't know and I do not care. It's either they are not Ndị Igbo and they are trying to cause unnecessary disaffection among us, or they are just grown up men that behave like kids.
IGBOPRINCE:
what's wrong with this two grown up men though. They seem popular. Re they igbos or what? Re they from this planet or spambot robot?
Pls who re they? What s their long time beef that cannot be settled once and for all.
Everyone keep mentioning their names always.

At your last statement, sorry if you misunderstood me, I'm not the only person who has seen the world around. But our igbos brothers should take it easy with their close brothers from the same east. That s my own concerns. Don't step on people's thread to mocked them biko, as if your state had the most developed state in the world.
Like I say, forgive me if my statements hurts.

We re igbos and we deserves oneness in every gaddem things..angry

Get lost my friend..you're a hypocrite. You say u hate when igbos compare yet you are here comparing two states.

I dont think people know the difference between hating and constructive criticism. Thats what always causes all these fights between ppl from different states. We need to be truthful to ourselves, and stop all this dumb fights over what state is better, developed etc. The problem with the imo thread is basically from the fact richas is an apc man etc and the other things wrong in the state, but the fact that any picture posted in that thread never suits anyone is something else, even mr. Spyder that was trying to help out by posting is now being questioned, i just dont get it. For once we all need to come together and stop these unnecessary accusation and childishness. If a state is doing something wrong say it in the most mature way and not go on bashing etc. As for guruguru Whats he doing? Because tbh all ive been doing is readung headlines what his plans, though i applaud him for the roads thats being constructed etc.

Welfare isn't a bad thing per se.
The problem is that our leaders believe they can curry favour with it, instead of doing what they were voted to do. Which massive transformative development.

Ugwuanyi should concentrate on one key program. Perhaps, the dream of developing the Ninth mile free trade zone or to create a world class Enugu state that can attract tourists and investors. Playing to the gallery by feeding children is good. But is that why he was voted into office?

In its determination to actualise the state government’s drive to provide basic facilities to the people, the Enugu State Executive Council has set-up an inter- ministerial committee to improve upon the revenue base of the state. In a press briefing at the end of the Council’s 10th meeting held at the Government House, Enugu, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Godwin Udeuhele, disclosed that it had appointed a private company, Bricks Data Limited, to collect revenue on land and properties through geographic information system approach. This was as the state Exco approved a contract for the construction of Orie-Emene- Adoration road, stressing that the move was to enhance transportation in the area.
