Somebody tell Londonmets to correct the name to "Maulag" or Moshood Oremi Aremu Abiola University of Goodluck Jonathan. That's the fly name.

I dont wanna keep reading University of Lagos when our shoeless president has already confirmed a new name on that super institution.

There are thousands and thousands of better things wasting on other threads and here, someone is asking me how i'll react if somebody bash my car and behold its a front page thing. When I was in university I got tired of arguing with people (undergraduates) who kept saying Nigeria was a rich country because the government could afford to share 1 million naira to everybody in Nigeria and make us all rich. I bet you've got to realize that the National budget is not a true reflection of the "Nigerian economic potential" but rather it mirrors what we've achieved so far.

Let me cite an instance, the same UK you're talking about has very little natural endowment when compared to Nigeria. The United Kingdom was built on human capital, economic colonialism and fiscal policies developed with socialistic undertone. We may not have any of those but we are greatly endowed with Natural resources and potential human capital. Only that majority of Nigerians starting from the populace to the ruling class lack honesty and any sense of patriotism.

I still believe that any "Literate" Nigerian will maintain this stance of believing that we are a "potential" rich country. I don't know what you studied in school.

Somebody started a thread in honour of Muslims that lost their lives. Clearly, this is a call to fellow believers of the religion to get together and do the spiritual things their religion demands in such times of grief and crisis.

There was no need for Christian involvement in this thread, especially of the 'we nko?' or controversial kind - unless to offer support. Islam is Islam, Christianity is Christianity. If the Muslims had gathered in a Mosque, would a Christian ask why he was not invited? What is all these rubbish? We could easily start a thread: In honour of christians who died, where we can quote all the quotable verses from Genesis to Revelation. Any muslim who goes there to insert silly comments is CLEARLY looking for trouble.

Having said that, it appears even the Muslims cannot get their act together. Common to pray for the Muslims who died in an air mishap has turned into another Shia vs. Sunni battle. Wharisalldis?

Going forward, the best thing is for the Owner of Nairaland and the moderators to do, is to BAN all threads that have religious extremism or attacking another religion. Same thing for tribal or ethnic issues. These things are simply tearing us further apart, EVEN IN TIMES OF GRIEF!

Anybody is free to go and start ShiaLand, SunniLand, BokoHaramLand, AkwhatAkwopLand, RedeemedLand, LivingfaithLand, VaticanLand and even CliffordOrjiLand. Let us keep NairaLand nuetral. In this regard, the moderators and owners of this forum have fallen short. There is freedom of expression, but freedom comes with responsibility, which many people lack, apparently. In my estimation 50% of Nairalanders cannot post anything without inserting an insult or two. It is becoming a childish playground....Your mama, your papa, Eediot, Winch, You be F0ol, etc, etc.

I am seriously going to re-consider my membership of this forum if these sorts of religious and tribal wars are allowed to carry on. I became a member to learn, to communicate, share ideas and help others who are in need - and ask for help when I am in need. Not listen to some religious or tribal extremists.

Before you know it, someone will insult me for this post.

Once your breath is gone, you'll stand before your creator and answer for all your deeds while you were alive. No amount of prayer from the sons of men (on earth) can change the course of God's judgement once an individual appears before the great throne. However, we can only wish the individual lived justly by God's standard while he/she was alive. Losing an acquaintance to death is very painful talk-less of a friend or loved one. However, we must realize that the race of life is an individual affair, we may pray that the Almighty GOD should lead a friend or family or whoever on the right path, causing such a fellow to discover GOD and have an intimate personal relationship with HIM. Note that no prayer will cause GOD to alter judgement for any individual once the individual is dead. So, it is proper to direct your prayers to the living, starting from yourself.
