FamilyRe: He Sells His Wife's Chin-chin In The Office by 27naira(m): 2:21pm On Jul 25, 2012
amdman: My friend (poster Nahinbdis) just showed me this post now and I am the one he is referring to.

Wifey is currently doing her NYSC here in Lagos. We had previously resolved that she would not be going into paid employment upon completion. Because of her industrious nature, she mooted the idea of starting a catering business while she is still serving, as a learning process before going bigger. And I think any husband in a great marriage such as I have would support her.

I don’t actually ‘hawk’ the stuff in the office. Like OP said, I brought it to the office for testing and people just loved it, and asked that I keep bringing (including my supervising manager), and right now when people know that I bring, demand exceeds supply. It doesn’t affect my job at all (issues raised by Braveheart are germane) as I have drawn up a list of those interested and I just ask them if they want. However, the selling is a short term thing as there are avenues I am currently exploring that will take care of that (a bigger platform) in about 2 weeks or so.

And the truth is there is profit in it (for wifey though). She told me yesterday that she has started saving N2000 per day as untouchable profit (other profits are reinvested) and we have not even done 1% of the actual marketing and sales in our business plan. She is so anxious to start the real stuff and am the one holding her on a leash right now (so she does not put too much on her plate).

Do I really care what people think? Sometimes. But when I look at the big picture I kill those thoughts. Someday, this will be part of the testimony and it would all have been worth it.
Kudos to you and your wife for such industrious spirit. I totally support a self-sustaining business venture like the one your wife is engaged in, and your supportive attitude is totally commendable. That said, if i were your supervisor, i will recommend you for suspension and if you're still on probation, your appointment will be withdrawn. It's nothing personal, but in corporate business like ours (don't know about yours), any ancillary venture within the premise of our business environment which generates profit for the benefit of a third party is illegitimate. Kudos to you again! smiley

PoliticsRe: How Did Lagos Cope Before The Construction Of Third Mainland Bridge by 27naira(m): 6:44pm On Jul 11, 2012
johnie: In the seventies, only the Carter(First) and Eko (Second) Bridges linked the Island with the mainland.

Carter bridge was constructed by the colonial government while the military ( I believe Gowon) built the Eko Bridge.

The odd and even number concept was adopted to reduce vehicular movement in the seventies. Odd-number vehicles could ply the major roads on particular days and even-number cars on other days. Ojuelegba and Yaba were two major bottlenecks I remember in those days. Fela's song Ojuelegba , was about the regular confusion at the place. Whenever we we were going to school and climb the overhead bridge at Jibowu (from where we could clearly see the traffic situation at Yaba at a vantage position), my dad would remark Yaba O wo loni o! - meaning Yaba is messed up today. grin

In those days, people such as my parents had two have two cars -one even and the other odd numbered. My dad still advises me today to ensure that my cars are evenly spread between odd and even - just in case the number regime returns! grin

The Third Mainland Bridge was constructed by the Babangida government and was actually named after him (Ibrahim Babangida Boulevard) on completion. That name did not stick particularly because of the June 12 Saga which shortly followed the opening of the bridge. In the first phase of the project, Adeniji to Adekunle was done and open to traffic. When completed, the Adekunle-Oworo section of the bridge was not open to traffic for about six months.

Before the Adekunle-Oworo section was opened I was worked variously at Lagos Island and VI and would have to go through Adekunle to join Ikorodu road. That stretch from the Third Mainland Bride through Herbert Macaulay was hell. The traffic used to be very bad. Thank God that in those days, the incidence of robbery in the traffic hadn't started (at least I neither experienced nor heard of it).

That's how we used to "cope" then.
Bros you be reallll old school grin
TravelRe: 1,000 Nigerians To Be Deported From Austria by 27naira(m): 2:43pm On Jul 10, 2012
Naturally, any country will deport your ar.se if you're:

1. Suspicious and illegal
2. does not contribute meaningfully to the economy
3. and have no proof of earning a living.

I totally endorse such move. Everybody wanna go to Europe and "hussle". I keep asking myself, which career path is hussle?. Its quite alarming and very shameful that so much of these people land in Europe with documents telling 90% lies about their intent. Next day, they scream racism or marginalization. Time of freebies and welfare is over. Shi.t just got real.

olumidazz: I witness the wedding of a 36 year old lady who was shedding crocodile tears on her wedding day having met her hubby 2 months earlier, well only a few guys sitting on the same row with two of her ex's knew the tears was cos she is wombless after having lost her womb on one of her numerous abortions and the yeye husband broke into tears also feeling it was the most romantic entanglement he had gotten himself in. She was obviously sorry 4 the poor boy but she wouldn't divulge.

FamilyCouples Crying During Wedding... Why? by 27naira(op): 7:58am On Jun 24, 2012
Hello guys,

I've been wondering.. what can prompt couples to cry during their wedding..?
I've experienced this happen numerous times in the States.. conversely, in naija, the couples are beaming their "32's like they got paid by close-up cheesy

It beats me that some people cry while others laugh for the same thing.. what sort of emotions are these?

So, for the married couples that cried during their weddings, please tell us why? cheesy and for those that grinned like "finally, i got his arse" i think we already know why. lol... but you can still tell us wink
