NNBB2012: I will advise that both of you should proceed with assessment. That is where to start from and later you will check to know who between you will have more points. The better your points the better for you. Whatever you need to do, do it now before July 1 because anything can happen after that day. That's the beginning of Australian new financial year. They make changes yearly and there is nothing one can do about it. Thanks a great deal. How long does a typical assessment takes? Do you think we can beat the July 1 deadline if we apply NOW? |

@NNBB2012
I read one of your posts where you said some occupations such as Accountant have been "flagged" and invitations would now be on pro-rata basis.
My wife is a Chartered Accountant while my occupation seems to be closely related to Financial Institution Branch Manager under ANZSCO classification.
In view of this, who stands a better chance on SkillSelect between us?
Do you anyone who has been positively assessed by VETASSES for Financial Institution Branch Manager?
Are there other occupational classifications that are also related to my occupation as a banker (Branch Manager/Relationship Manager/Account Officer/Business Development Officer)
Should both of us apply to increase our chances of securing PR for the family?

I have a budget of N25k but not more than N30k and I need a phone with longer battery life, durability, double sim and if possible 2G RAM.
Purpose is to take all my business calls, check office and 2 personal emails (yahoo & gmail) and also browse on the go.
My initial thought was to go for Infinix Hot 2 or Phantom 5 but I also read about other Infinix brands that I listed above. A friend recommended Zero 3 but I am mindful of my budget.
My only concern is that online retail stores such as Jumia and Yudala seems to be out of stock already.
Which of the above would meet my needs and at the same time fit my budget? Which other online stores can I check? Are there better ones that you can recommend? Thank you.

@NNBB2012, bellong, tunai, lawland, other gurus
Though I have never used it on my resume, I have a National Diploma (2 years Full-time) in Insurance from a Federal Polytechnic which I acquired before my working life. If I add that to the BSc and ACIB that were awarded to me before I started working and the MBA (acquired after 4 years of work experience) and send them to VETASSESS, would they earn me the maximum score under Education for the purpose of EOI? I have 9 years working experience. |

tunai: Your MBA in Lautech( if you did financial mgt option) is equivalent to AQF Graduate diploma and this earns you 15 points on eoi,but if you are sure your first degree is highly relevant to your chosen occupation then you are fine with it( most 4 years courses end up sitting on AQF Associate degree and this gives you 10 points) I just got a positive response from them and it was my Mba that saved me as my first degree was not relevant to my CSOL. Am sure this might aid your decision. Thanks, I had B.Sc in Banking & Finance, so I think it is relevant to my occupation. |
Travel › Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by 40manlappy: 1:25am On Mar 21, 2016 |
NNBB2012: What is your occupation? You need to know your occupation with reference to the SOL or CSOL and also know the requirements of the relevant assessing body. For example, if you were to be assessed by VETASSESS, I would advise that you should include your MBA except if you finished from some Universities in Nigeria. The most relevant skilled occupation class to my job function is Financial Institution Branch Manager under CSOL (149914). I got the MBA from Lautech, Ogbomoso. Which universities do you have in mind @bolded? |

Futurewiser: yes try Germany. Their visa is straight fwd
see here for list of schools to apply for https://www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programs/en/
tuition is totally free so when you work there you send money home rather than using it to pay school fees like Canada case.

alaoeri: Assess your skills & certificate with the relevant authority, submit an EOI through skillselect, apply for state or territory nomination & wait for invitation. The only advantage over 189 is you get extra 5points if nominated by a state & 10points if nominated by a regional area but 189 seems straight forward because you won't have to wait for a state or territory for invitation. @scrollmeout congrat bro. Thanks for your response. For the assessment, is it only the Bsc that I should assess? Read somewhere on the thread that post-experience qualifications do not really count. Is this true? I have Bsc, ACIB (Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers) and MBA. I have 9 years work experience but acquired the MBA after about 4 years of work experience. The ACIB was acquired before I started working. Would appreciate your response. Looping: NNBB2012, bellong, scrollmeout, Kunlay11, Bosslady, Bellong, Manweysabi, lawland, other gurus in the house |

alaoeri: If you are sure of the 60points benchmark, the first thing is to assess your B.Sc with the relevant authority. 189 visa is for workers who are not sponsored by an employer or family member or nominated by a state or territory government. 190 visa is for workers who are nominated by a state or territory government agency. If nobody is sponsoring you SOL & if you are being sponsored or nominated CSOL. Please, what does it take to be nominated by a state or territory? How easy is it? Any particular advantage over 189? My occupation is listed on CSOL. |
