Christianity EtcRe: Abortion Should Be Made Legal by 4Play(m): 12:53pm On Apr 17, 2007
nferyn:
So when does the potential become actual?

When sentience kicks in. This is around 29 weeks.
Until 29 weeks, its merely a potential ? The irony is that the biggest obstacle to this "potential" materialising is the abortionist

nferyn:
Already living human beings have full sentience, aspirations, hopes and dreams and are in the full capacity themselves to decide whether or not their life is worth living. That's nobody else's choice but theirs, a fetus is not exactly in the same position.
That is why we must terminate it!We know if we left it alone, there is a 99.9% chance it will acquire all the above(aspirations,hopes,dreams,sentience,e.t.c)so we are fully justified in artificially intervening so as to stop what,if the natural process was not interfered with, would most likely lead to a fully formed human.

nferyn:
Now, it would be a good thing if those so obsessed with protecting life (e.g. the Schiavo case in the US) would spend only 10% of the resources and efforts they invest in that protection on bettering the quality of life of those already living. They've got their priorities all mixed up.
One could make the same facile comment about pro-terminators.If they spent 10% of their resources and efforts on the living instead of promoting  the necrotisation of foetuses, things would be better.
nferyn:
You are just trotting out the old "Womans right to choose" line which is not really a question of rights and consequences of all involved.
The ultimate arbiter is the woman, as nobody can force her to compromise the integrity of her body, so yes, I'm towing the old
"Woman's right to choose line", but only in a specific set of circumstances for late term abortions. Before sentience kicks in, it's nobody's business but hers.
This is mantric piffle.Since its simply "the integrity of her body",why not terminate at whatever term?  The "integrity of her body" does not include, the prescence in the womb,of an entity which but for human intervention, will most likely materialise into human life

nferyn:
Do I need to spell this out? What positive consequences could killing an already born handicapped person possibly have? In the case of abortion, the consequences are clear: having a child at a moment or under circumstances that are less than ideal, does have an immediate negative effect on the quality of life, physical integrity and opportunities of the woman
You could do better.A negative effect on the "quality of life, physical integrity and opportunities of a woman" could hardly be sufficient justification for terminating a domestic pet not to talk of a "potential" human.
Isn't well documented that abortion itself can have the above negative consequences for a woman anyway?

The reality is that since abortion was legalised in the U.K(1964),it has doubled in numbers since the 70s.The argument in the U.K by pro-abortionists was that abortions will be reduced,or at least stabilised, not increased.Vindication!

BusinessRe: How Socially Responsible Are Companies In Nigeria? by 4Play(m): 10:09pm On Apr 16, 2007
For me, the only responsibility Companies owe society is to ensure that the companies are run efficiently and without impropriety.I would be unhappy,as a shareholder,to hear that company funds are being used for charity.

Well run companies create jobs, foster economic growth, avail the public with cost effective and quality products and pay taxes to the Govt. That is sufficient discharge of their responsibility

Any suggestion that Companies owe a responsibility to do charity is counterproductive and in the long term not in the interest of society

Manchester United have dominated the Premiership for most of the season and today three of their players - Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes - were also named on the shortlist for the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award.

Last year's winner Steven Gerrard, Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas complete the list of six contenders for the award, which will be presented on April 22.

Dating And Meet-up ZoneAkinwunmi Battles Debosky For The Hand Of J-girl by 4Play(op): 11:52pm On Apr 15, 2007
In a remarkable and brazen act of one-upmanship,a certain Akinwumni has snatched from Debosky, the love of his life-J-Girl. shocked

Debosky and J-Girl had been deeply in love for ages and had concluded plans for marriage.I was contacted on my availability to act as best man at the wedding. It seems this love affair has turned sour. sad

A certain Akinwumni has caught the eye of J-Girl and has led her to reconsider her plans for marriage to Debosky. She told me that this Akin happens to be her "dream man".I was shocked because I thought she loved Debosky.

On further enquiries, she revealed that Debosky was inadequate in bed and had failed to "satisfy her sexual needs"  embarassed She was tired of his "Speedy Gonzalez Love Making" which never lasted more than 60 seconds.

She has now fallen for another NairaLander-Akinwumni- and I am worried about the implications for my friend-Debosky.He has a troubled mental history .

Can anyone advice on this issue.Your input will be highly appreciated  sad

Ah! u sure say we need owen.D guy man never play since oooo.Newcastle coach tlk say him go sell Martins since Owen don dey recover.Me i go prefer Martins forget sentiments
While I would like a younger striker- like  Hunterlaar of Ajax-Owen would be quite a snip at £12 million. He is still for me one of the best strikers in the world.

I heard he has returned to great physical condition  and at the age of 28,he still has 2 or 3 years in him.
