suggyspic: I have decided to share this here not for nairaland members to start any form of insult on my Grandfather but for knowledge purpose. My Grandfather is 84years, very strong and still chases younger ladies (35 - 48) like his life depends on this ladies. Yesterday i went visiting and work into him and the lady making out in the palour. I left in annoyance, wondering what he tells this ladies that they still follow him. . This is not the first time i have meet ladies coming out from his house. At his age, won't the frequent sex affect him or does it make him stronger. Leave the man let him enjoy his life! Too early to self-soothe. You can try those hanging toys and bell things. Hang it just above her cot where her hands can reach then jingle it. Some of them are battery operated and jingle themselves. It should help. Or get an automatic rocking chair. 3 months (11wks) is too early for creche na, can't u at least wait till she's 6months? |

A baby's cry is not always about hunger. It's a sign of communication to you the mother that something is not right. It could be the place is too hot or too cold, it could be the dress she is putting on is uncomfortable. It could be an ant just bit her. It could even be a loud TV or WI d blowing from a fan set at the highest speed. Always check the surroundings of your baby if she cries the moment you put her down in the cot and stops crying when you pick her up.
How old is your baby now? From your previous complaints it's like you didn't do exclusive breastfeeding. It's good the gas has stopped. If she is less than three months then she should still be feeding two hourly. More than three months you can increase to three_hourly. Unless you have stopped breastfeeding altogether.
Her age will also help me determine what I can advice you in soothing tactics. |

NobleG1: What you think about my post is totally irrelevant to me. Not now maybe as you are probably still in secondary school, but it might become important later when you graduate and become involved in human resources. Anyone can bring up an argument. Sometimes they just want to access your reasoning faculty, your courtesy, your politeness and your patience. In getting a job, attracting and maintaining clients or even marrying a responsible wife, politeness is a key ingredient. It will get you far in this life or it will impede your progress, it's all up to you. I wouldn't waste this time giving you this small lecture as there are a lot of prepubescent individuals on this site and throwing insults is a regular here. However I saw the way your thought process flowed and the way you arranged your points only to end it with an insult. I strongly feel this is a reflection of who you are in real life and it would be a pity if you constantly sabotage your intelligence potential with this underlying scurrilous behavior. Take it or leave it. It's your life. |

NobleG1: This is c*ock and b*ullshit!!
Old parents lasted in marriage because women at that time didn't have rights like women of today.
At that time, society made it the woman's fault if the marraige breaks up. Leaving your marraige was a no no for women and family would ostracize them if they eventually leave.
It was extremely tough for a divorcee to re-marry unlike her male counterpart. So women were stuck in their abusive marraiges for the rest of their lives.
Today's woman has better rights. She can choose to marry or not, without being forced into one. And if she decides to marry, she marries a man of her choice and can leave an abusive marraige if she wishes, without fear.
So for you to advocate for the return of the barbaric period shows there are i*diots in 21st century who still believe women are second class humans. You were doing so well marshalling out your points, and then you ended it stupidly. |

freecocoa: thank you jare.
We've been waiting for you on this thread, abeg teach show him how it's done. Well, since you asked so nicely... Dirty talking in sex are essentially words that are totally devoid of romance and filled with vulgarity instead. The higher the vulgarity the better. The idea is to set up an atmosphere of forbidden pleasure and insatiable lust. It also provides an Avenue to tell your sexual partner what you want and how you like it. Example include the use of phrases like: Bleep me harder baby! Spank my ass! Tear it up, take it, take it, don't you fvcking stop you mothaf**er you! Hit me! Bite me there! Let me s***k your sugarcane and don't u bleeping cum!... And so on and so forth. Dirty talking during sex is not for everyone as some people are repulsed by the way such words objectify the ones they supposedly love and respect. But hey, the white folk do it so it must be okay! Questions? |

Sophyrocks: Now inspite of the higher morals we had back amongst our forefathers, some of them still married wrongly. Some homes back then had all manners of abuse. Its not everyone that would be enlightened when it comes to marriage and morals. But divorce wasnt the culture, women were always advised to endure as long as their husbands still cared for the kids. Most women were just homemakers, housewives with nothing going for their lives. There are also some exceptional households with women as breadwinners. Yes, women being breadwinners didnt start from this modern age. There were men who did nthing but drink while their wives went to farm and sell their produce.
In this modern age, most people do not find arranged marriages desirable because it could involve forcing a person to accept someone they dnt like at all. Modern age must come with a lot of changes. Economic changes have changed everything. women now work and earn money. A lot of enlightenment and education is going on now. Things of old have passed away. The bad change is our morals have gone down. Nowadays, a lot of s.ex is going on before marriage which has introduced unwanted pregnancies, stds, abortions and single motherhood. Gross infidelity is everywhere because of our fallen morals. There are too many vices going on that would disrupt marriages. also many people now marry for flimsy reasons, to show off, to please society. women could tolerate then but not now. the vices are too prevalent to do any tolerating.
Truth be told, if marriages of now are to survive, they must revive their dying morals. High morals〓 better marriages. Since we all know what destroys marriages, we have to avoid all these vices to make marriages work. The same bible that talked about love also talked about adultery. we know all these but because of our fallen morals, we ignore them. Too bad. OMG. . Sophyrocks making so much sense nowadays! This is one of the most sensible posts on this thread Am flabbergasted |

Have you asked women whose marriage were arranged how they felt about it? You seem to be the type that judge books by their cover. It doesn't put you in a good light. Naivety. You r welcome. Yes I have. I happen to be exposed to a lot of marriage issues. Differing views. Those who were happy in their marriages had positive things to say and vice versa. Noted, though I don't think so. BizBloke: I agree with the highlighted.
Beht, this arranged marriages, I no gree o. I think you [we] should match it up with the current age. Question is, 'How many arranged marriages in the 21st century have worked in comparison to the opposite? Someone said something about Indians in the UK who still practice arranged marriages and it works out well. Two of my cousins are essentially in arranged marriages. They studied and work abroad and their mums came to naija to look for wife for them (no joke ). They went to we'll known 'good families' and investigated the girls as throughly as they could before coming back with their results. The guys didn't even see the girls more than 2times before marriage. And nobody has heard pem from them since the wedding. Funny enough it is my cousins that rebelled and chose wives for themselves that are having it hot in their marriages. One of them just divorced a few days ago. Me I don dey consider the thing seriously oh |

LordReed: You are underlining certain things I need you to clarify. Do you feel that "modern" woman's empowerment which gives her the opportunity to remove herself from harms way is inferior to what you outlined above? Also how does what you outlined above differ in outcome from a woman simply refusing to put up with the mess? . Even then a woman could remove herself and run back to her father's house. Modern woman 'empowerment' did not change this. I see no inferiority or superiority. It all depended on the woman's(and her family's) resources. There was definitely more mediation done those days than now. Since it was the family the spouse married and not the individual, the offending spouse was answerable to more people/higher authorities. Today's modern woman has no patience or perseverance. It's divorce at the drop of a hat. P. SThe topic is about arranged marriages i.e letting your parents choose a compatible spouse for you and in the process looking out for unsavoury characteristics including violence towards women. The topic is about how our free will in choosing spouses has not in any significant way improved the outcome of modern marriages. I strongly feel you are going off point with the female bashing thing. |
