njambert: Well I mentioned by AWS certs on my resume. I think you should write either CompTIA A+ or CCNA, it'll help you get interviews for IT support roles. I applied to roles mostly on Indeed. Skills necessary for it are Ticketing systems(eg ServiceNow), Active Directory, Windows, TCP/IP, DNS, Microsoft 365, SQL, etc. Just check IT support role skills(Sevice desk analyst/IT Support technician/Technical support specialist/Technical support representative/etc) on Indeed and see the most common skills. You do not necessarily need to know all these, but have a high level overview, and be able to create good experience stories out of these technologies for your interviews. But be reminded that the interview for such roles are generally more behavioral focused than skill focused. So spend more time on the latter than the former. Hi bro, I see it's been a while since you logged into NL. Help on this topic is very much needed. |

Afolavid: In addition to what the Original Poster said, if you can get the trifecta, you can easily and quickly progress upwards and choose a pathway in Networking or Security. It's a cheat code that even those without experience use to get their foot in the door and if you play your games right with real experience in the bag, you are looking at $100k in 3-5 years. This beats ANY BootCamp out there.
Comptia A+ (Core 1 & Core 2) > Network + > Security + = Trifecta! After this, you can diversify into whatever pathway you choose with a few specialized certs. Lastly, If you were a student at some point and can still access your student email, use it to access the Comptia Acad store and get the vouchers dirt cheap, which makes the investment a lot easier. All the best! Hi, I sent you a DM regarding this topic. Trifecta achieved, but directionless at the moment. |

jedisco: Fair points.
Finding a vehicle was an issue. I noticed autotrader was quite scanty and different from what I knew. Kept asking and it turns out many dealerships don't advertise on autotrader. Had to contact one directly. Same also insurance- never used a broker before but had to use one. Was always used to going online and seeking out the most competitive on a market-wide comparison site.
I'd look at the brokers you mentioned before the tax year end. Looking for a dependeable but competitively priced broker with a selection of global fvnd.
Regarding mortgages, I found the undue prenium on new houses surprising. Folks will consider a 20yr old house 'old'. Hehe. I'm trying to seek out a good area and hopefully take discussions forward with a broker over winter.
On investments, I'm seeking info on the buy-to-let sector in Canada. It appears the candaian hoising market is more commoditised and easier to navigate. It's the returns that aren't as clear. Understandably, this is localised.
Regarding pensions, the folk advising me wasnt keen on RRSP which I found odd.. Still looking into this. Do you know of good canadian based financial sites that perhaps compare fees/offerings for pension managers, brokers e.t.c or explains the financial system in clear terms? Check clutch.ca for your vehicle, it might be a good place to buy a vehicle while avoiding those marketers that upsell their cars. |

ednut1: nigerian population 230m, total japa since 2020 is not up to 5m. Which is less than 2%. Why not focus on the 225m remaining in Nigeria?
Many countries including UAE, Canada,Uk , Australia have shut the doors on many immigrants plus exchange rate wahala in Nigeria . Meaning many can no longer afford to japa or see chance to japa. Have those remaining now developed Nigeria? |

If I had listened to those who told me not to send my wife abroad, I wouldn't have been where I am today.

Papilagreen: Thank you for your opinion if they respond more intelligent than I do that fine am okay with that. Am not here to show how intelligent I am and I never said have to look their profile because I don't have to. If they live abroad or not All I did was give my own opinion on how I see things and I can't stand and watch them insult me for no reason. If you don't agree with somebody they why not just say I disagree with you and say why. Instead of calling me out disrespectfully? You should be ways to say things out without putting out negative vibes. Those words are for certain people and they know theirs not for the general readers. Just the ones who come and insult me because they feel disrespected by my own opinion. I don't do well to insult or treats so if that is my flaws then I am sorry but I can't stop now I give respect to whom respect is due. I believe you could have done your best to respond without insults or better still just ignore like I saw how you have avoided the question regarding your status. |

Papilagreen: No mind them na ignorance dey worry them. Because na American film and TV and propaganda them see online make them dey talk rubbish I was once like them. Money and luxury fall from thin air once you enter America life is good they get it all thinking mentally. Na blind man wain dey lead blind man them all be. Going through all the arguments, it's obvious they respond more intelligently than you do. You don't have to start insulting during an argument. Also take your time to go through their profiles, you would see they are Nigerians not living in Nigeria. Some (not all) of the things you stated in your opening post are facts but it doesn't mean they are valid in all scenarios. Everyone has a profile, so that dictates how individuals can be in the developed world. |

TheModerator: There's no where in the world that a driver will do a 20 minute pickup if it's not going to profit him. Only a fool will do that with all smiles. Drivers over there make a lot more than here with far better condition of service. The sad part is that fuel price in Nigeria is about half of what it's being sold in Ontario but fares are worlds apart from each other.
Where in Lagos will you see map that crystal clear? You may still need to pass lots of hurdle even before reaching a street next to you. So you can't blame drivers who frown at long pickups.
You should have known better as a veteran. Una wey dey live abroad have a way of being cocky and cheeky. You all just assume you have landed in heaven the moment you get there. Using this trip as an example, the actual fare is different from the taxes charged. And uber will still take more than about 25% or more as I've heard.
Drivers still make money in Nigeria but it was Bolt that brought down the standard to what's being experienced now.

We have a lot to do as individuals. My comments here are just like everyone else's comments. You post about what you experience daily while I also posted about what I experienced severally. So if my comments trigger you, sorry there's nothing I can do about it. And those that think drivers make money abroad unlike Nigeria, join a Facebook group of drivers in those countries and see how they complain about the fares. The message must have been misinterpreted, maybe I should have said, " I wonder how they still keep a happy mood after a long pickup ". I drove and I know how I used to feel with long pickups but these guys will drive more than 10km to pickup and still not frown. |

PuZZyNegro: I couldn't get the bonus yesterday because of all these useless long pickup trips.
Imagine being at Kudirat Abiola Way and Bolt is asking me to go to Isaac John to carry someone to the same Isaac John. We complain in Nigeria about long pickup while I have requested several times where drivers will come from around my destination, yet they will be with all smiles when they arrive. Although, I always tip them whenever they come from far places. This screenshot was taken late but see how far he is to me. I'm going on a 15 mins ride but pickup is about 13 mins.

He has refused to pick several video calls to verify his claims instead he prefers typing.
I don’t know how he got all the documents he posted earlier on but this smells like a scam. We’ve blocked & deleted him from the group.
Cc @ednut1 He might be genuine, I gave him a call after I saw your update. He said he was in a bank trying to get credit when he got the video call, I laughed and told him credit doesn't work that way. He can be tried again but should be done carefully as people tend to take people's kindness for granted. |

Pearl1910: Bro, I don't want to argue salary or ehailing income but what I want to ask is have u been told all d challenges involved in migrating and living in Canada? Cos what u said about not telling all d challenges involved in ehailing sounds childish, ridiculous and irritating. I pray u will not cry from Canada that they didn't tell u all that's involved sha including the challenges. Cos as a grown up man u shouldn't be sounding like this. Hope you know it’s when people talk about their experience you learn from it. There are good and there are bad, I see no reasons why it turns offensive when countering others opinions. There are threads all over the internet including NL talking about life elsewhere while I also have immediate families, you learn the good and bad from what it’s being said. So I understand challenges to be faced. Why remain offensive when opinions differ still baffles me? |

Raw2: ...but you're a full grown man with a penis, how do you expect to be spoonfed everything at your age? The Canada you've escaped to, are you expecting everything to be rosy and exactly as you have been told?
When challenges come in Canada, will you complain and look for who to blame in the travel section where you got your information?
Make una dey use una brain abeg I would have ignored your post as it contains offensive words, I don’t like responding to such posts. Where in my post was it stated that the complains were for people to spoon-feed them? And those are against the driving have only asked people to look beyond driving. I was doing great before buhari happened, moved on by driving on Uber. I knew what I said when I said I wasn’t lazy, I drove beyond 70 hrs weekly while I was on the platform, but my point remains - the income doesn’t equate the efforts put on the job.And your post regarding my traveling shows envy. PS: I didn’t know it was you cheerful, if not, I wouldn’t have responded to your post. It was after responding to you I went through your profile. |
