OK, let me take my time to explain all this, I also know its not relevant to the subject matter.

First let's start by knowing what Vat is.

What is VAT?

[Value-Added Tax (VAT) is a tax on consumer spending. It is payable on goods and services consumed by any person whether government agencies, business organizations or individuals. It can also be defined as a tax on spending/consumption levied at every stage of a transaction but eventually borne by the final consumer of such goods and services. In Nigeria, it is levied at a flat rate of 7.5%.

Advantages.

VAT in general increases government revenue stream, which can be invested in infrastructure, health, education and other developmental projects, and stimulate economic growth.
The additional revenue would help reduce government’s dependence on oil revenue.

Disadvantages.

Whilst VAT is good, increase in VAT could reduce overall consumption and further slow-down the economy and peoples businesses making it counter-productive.

Effects on peoples businesses.

Also my dear brother, because Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world, an unchecked increase in a consumption tax like VAT would be a huge burden on the average Nigerian. In terms of income distribution, Nigeria is among the most unequal countries in the world. The increase will therefore shrink the purchasing power of the already impoverished Nigerian income earner and cripple peoples businesses.

I took my time to study and review what the law really says about this VAT. Then I discovered that Rivers and Lagos state were in line with the law.

So even if this matter gets to the supreme court they would still emerge victorious.

PS: I took advantage of a situation to request for an increase last month and 2k was added.....
If not for that, it's not deemed fit to be reviewed....

Advice: if you are really sound in the subjects you are teaching , just organize lesson with the pupils and make sure you compel their parents on that.

Spot on, I went to an Interview where I surprisingly saw my former lecturer at Technical School as one of my Interviewers . He and other seniors interviewed me, I just looked away as if I have never seen him before. Answered all his questions with straight face and seriousness.
