uksonmike:Ok Sir. Happy service year. |
Bassey007:Yes Sir. |
lecturer50:Those who have Bachelor and those who have HND are all graduates. Both think of doing Masters. I knew some HND holders during my NYSC days who were very eager to start Masters. They were making enquiries about Masters. So this desire affects all graduates. |
I remember what one camp official told us while in camp in Karaye,Kano. He said "I know you all are very eager to leave camp, but I can assure you, after you have left, you would miss this camp so much that if given opportunity, you would want to come back here. I discovered it was true in my case. I believe it will be true for those corpers just leaving camp. No matter who you become tomorrow, any time you think about the camp and NYSC, you must always miss it. I know one lecturer who told me the happiest moment of her life would always be during NYSC. |
Hahjascho:Ok Sir. |
I thought that way and I started saving money to run a Masters. But my fellow roommate (a corper also) advised me against starving myself all in a bid to save money for Masters, because according to him, maybe God had a better plan for me. He said I might regret it if tomorrow, money came my way and I would be regretting starving myself instead of feeding well during my service year. I thank God I listened to him. Sometimes how we plan it may not be how it turns out. It was after two years of service that I got to start a Masters and finished it after 4 years. It was not even in BUK i did my Masters but in UDUS. That is how life is: It may not be how you planned it. |
When you finish your program and you are posted to serve, the relief you get because you are no longer a student, the weight of reading and the stress of schooling being lifted from you, it naturally brings joy, the joy that comes with freedom from schooling. That is why you are so happy when you are inside a vehicle from your state to the state you are posted: The journey of freedom. But during your service, you begin to consider going back for a Masters, either in Nigeria or abroad. This is because you feel that you have become a graduate and doing Masters is just going to be fun, afterall you are not doing it to be educated, since your first degree already makes you educated. I know so many people who thought this way. I equally thought that way and I always pictured myself doing Masters in BUK, Kano. You want to feel like: "Okay I am already a graduate, but I am now a post-graduate student." You want to see those undergraduate students while you yourself are higher than them as a Masters student. You want to feel that you are not doing it under the compulsive desire to get a degree (which is common during your undergraduate days), but voluntarily. |
I remember in Kano during my NYSC. I served in the town. When going to buy food at Sabon Gari market, I remember few occasions where a trader would want to increase the price because I wore NYSC uniform. But most of the time, I didn't wear the uniform, so no one knew. |
Onyisko10:Congratulations for a successful camp experience. Now that you are out of the camp,I wish you a happy one year of service. Back to your question. Yes you have to report to your PPA soon enough. After everything, you can take permission to travel home if you want to. There is no need delaying. Just go and report before Friday this week. Although during my time, some people delayed for 2 weeks before reporting. But what is the need. It is good to go early before your place of primary assignment report back to NYSC that you did not report. Most PPA have already requested for certain number of corpers. If they don't see the corpers, some may get back to NYSC to find out what happened. |
Jenna25:Please I want to know if you are the one who would pick where you want to do your PPA, or if it is the NYSC which will select it for you,as it happened during my time? |
I remember Karaye camp. We were being punished, made to roll on the floor, made to squat down, made to lie down, made to kneel down. But the whole thing was fun. I really missed my NYSC days. |
uksonmike:I hope by now you have already been posted to a school/company etc. It is there you can determine if to stay there or not. I always advise people to stay where they are posted to, except if there is insecurity/evil where you are posted to. Or if you have seen another better place which is willing to accept you. I say this from experience. |

That is how boys would start at a very tender age to sleep around. When they grow up, and you are not sleeping around like them, they would hate you, say you are not a real man and be sidelining you. If you believe that a man should also have respect as far as sexuality is concerned, that is how they would be ganging up against you, because to them,if they are not disgraced by women, then they are not really men. You will see a handsome, well dressed man who does not believe that a woman can admire his handsomeness. He believes that he must be disgraced by a woman before being accepted by her. If by mistake, you suggest to him that his handsomeness can get him favours from women, that is how he would start hating you. He will be looking down on you as if you are the worst thing he has ever seen. That is why a woman wrote that men love bitches because of how much men are disgracing themselves because they believe that they are "Men". To them "Man" means suffering, being disgraced by women, lacking self respect, stupidity, wickedness and having sex. |
IT ONLY TAKES SOMEONE WITH THE HEART OF AN ELEPHANT TO EAT LIKE AN ELEPHANT. |
I remember something I will never forget. When I saw that it was Kano I was posted to,I was very sad. My friends started saying how unfortunate it was that I got posted to Kano. Soon, I was no longer sad. I suddenly became happy that I would be leaving home, so that my mum, brothers and sisters would miss me, since sometimes, they used to find me trouble. I promised myself that I would not come home till after service. Because of the eagerness to leave home,I wanted to leave on Sunday while camp was to open on Tuesday. But for some reasons, I could not leave on Sunday, but on Monday when 90 percent of prospective corpers also started the journey When we eventually arrived at the camp in Karaye, I was grateful I didn't leave a day earlier, because I would have arrived camp earlier to take part in the rigours of the camp. I promised I would not visit home for the one year of my service, but I soon discovered I was missing home, hence I traveled up to ten times to my home. |
I remember the saying that Kano is a place that people cry when they are posted to, but after they reached there, they don't want to leave. I traveled from Kano to my state up to 10 times during my NYSC days. I did it for the joy of it. I entered a night bus from Kano to Aba, after which I entered a bus to Akwa Ibom. It was one of the most joyful moments of my NYSC days. |
Another happy moment was when we were paid the bicycle allowance, and the first NYSC allowance. When I got posted to Kano town, the school I was posted to provided me with a room for accomodation. The first night I slept in that room and woke up the next morning, I told myself " Does it mean I will end up staying here for one year, far away from my family? But I soon got used to the environment and it turned out that one of my best memories is always from my NYSC days. |
Mine was the camp itself during the 3 weeks orientation. Camp opened on Tuesday, but from that Tuesday to Thursday (the day for swearing-in) looked like a very long period of time due to the amount of activities and training leading up to the swearing-in. But it was only 3 days,ie Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (the swearing-in). Camp lasted 3 weeks, but it looked like 3 months and we were very eager for it to end. But after it ended,I discovered that I really missed camp and in retrospect,it was one of the best periods of my life. I remember what one camp official told us while in camp. He said "I know you all are very eager to leave camp, but I can assure you, after you have left, you would miss this camp so much that if given opportunity, you would want to come back here. I discovered it was true in my case. Camp was fun,NYSC was fun and any time I think of it, I thank God for the whole experience. Share your experience. |
Jaydot01:Thank you Sir. |

okrikaboi:Yes. But the only happy thing is that God loves all His creatures, however big or small they are. |
Mleeperbother:I don't think so. |
ThinkSmarter:Yes.There are conditions somewhere that support life. There is no way that the Universe will be so vast and the Earth happens to be the only place with intelligent beings. No way. The same way that the Earth is positioned in the right place in our solar system, there are planets in other solar systems that are also positioned in the right place. There are billions of solar systems in one Milky Way. And there are millions of Milky Ways each with billions of solar systems, and each of the solar system has many planets. That supposed to tell someone that there are millions of planets situated in positions that will support life and intelligent beings. Also because we do not see other beings on this Earth does not mean that they are not here. They could be seeing us, just like we are seeing plants but plants do not see us. The problem with human beings is that we define everything according to our own realities. What we see and hear around us is not all that are to be seen and heard. We only see/hear what our eyes/ears allow us to see and hear. Our eyes are too big to see bacteria, but too small to see higher beings. Maybe ants can see bacteria because their eyes are at that level, but their eyes are too small to see human beings. The eyes can only see something at a certain level. There are higher beings with better eyes than our own which are seeing us, but we cannot see them. Hearing and seeing is level by level. A plant may be blind to us, the same way we are blind to some higher beings. I remember one woman who claimed that one day, her interior eyes got opened and she saw beings who were moving around on the Earth. Their heights reached the sky. That is what an ant would say if their eyes were opened and they see human beings. So everything should not be defined based on our own realities, because we are only a small part of multi realities. Even scientists are beginning to think in this direction:We are only a small part of multi realities and existences. |
Depressed101:They would not do so, the same way you will see ant hole somewhere, but you do not have the desire to destroy the hole. It is not important to them. They are far more concerned with higher things to bother about human beings. If you see ant hole, you may go there to study about ants like what zoologists do. But the least thing in their minds is to destroy ant holes, because it would not add anything to them. There are some beings that are called space masters. They are higher in intelligence and power, but their coming to the Earth is to study the human race, but not to destroy the human race, because it would not add anything to them. |
Human beings think that they are the highest and the wisest beings ever created, apart from Angels. Just like an ants may think they are the wisest and strongest beings ever. Ants in your room do not know you exist. They do not know you are the owner of the room, because they cannot see you. If you kill an ant in your room, other ants may not know that a human being killed it. They may see the books in your room as mountains. That is what is going on with human beings. We see mountains, but those mountains could be the books of higher beings, just like the books in your room are mountains to ants. Also the way ants do not see us, that is the way we don't see higher beings. They could be passing in our front but we cannot see them although they see us. If you kill an ant, other ants could misinterprete it to mean something else, the same way we say thunder killed a person not knowing what is really happening. God is so great that He has created so many beings of different dimensions, intelligence and power. There are different dimensions existing in the same place. Where you are currently staying which is your house, could be market in another dimension. Still in another dimension,it could be the home of other beings. There are interlocking dimensions all through the universe. If your eyes could open to other dimensions that is at the place where you are staying, you may be surprised to see that there are other beings there, who are in place you are staying, but in different dimensions. They themselves do not also know that other beings exist in the same place, but in different dimensions. |
Also, there have been numerous things on Earth which cannot be easily explained. Like some great stones being arranged in order, before the advent of technology and machine. Scientists said that no human beings/group of people could have been able to carry such massive stones. The stones could only have been arranged by interplanetary beings who came here for a visit and may have decided to rest on the stones. |
I have also read of interplanetary beings. They are higher in intelligence and one of them can stand near the Sun and observe everything and everyone on Earth, just like human beings are higher in intelligence than an ant and can stand at a distance to observe all the ants moving inside a room. Also,an ant cannot move from Nigeria to America but a human being can do it through planes/cars/ships, because we are higher than ants in intelligence and power. The same way, we cannot move easily from our solar system to another solar system because we are limited in intelligence and power. But there are beings who are far higher than us in intelligence and power and can easily move from one solar system to another, using their advanced technology. Also they can easily see us from another planet but we cannot see them, the way an ant cannot see you, but you can see the ant from afar. |
Mrsoft3:Ok. |
