B2mario:There is no living soul that was last in Imo State 2012 that will visit and deny the unbelievable improvement. While Orlu is moving to be like other State capitals Owerri is departing from the looks of typical Nigerian city. The Orlu/Owerri federal highway is nearing complete dualization at a record low cost. When this is completed, the symbiotic effects will be to the advantage of Orlu town, Umuaka, Orodo, Nwaorieubi, Nkume, Amucha, Ubomiri etc as they will all be a continuum of Owerri-Orlu urban cluster. |
OdenigboAroli:Is it with WAEC results or facilities on ground? We should stop deceiving ourselves and say the raw truth. What we should use to rate success in basic education is primary school enrolment and advanced education is University degree to doctorate. The recent WAEC importance was started to give undue credence to Peter Obi. I say this because the State performance was announced for the 1st time in 2013 since I was born. If you have that of other years prior to 2013 I will like to see them or a link to them. |
Ikengawo:I agree with you but you seem not to understand that projects cost 10times more in Nigeria with my only known exception being Imo State under Okorocha. To create the South Korea model in Nigeria will cost tens of billions of Dollars or trillions of Naira because of many factors. |
Ikengawo:I was formerly against this project until I read about monorails recently. My reasons are not different from the instances you just gave but if the project is continued at this pace then in the next 8 years it should be at Waterlines junction. Remember this project was meant to be a PPP but the idea was killed by political tussle which left Rivers government with the challenges of 100% funding the phase 1. |
aljharem:Yes you are in deep trouble. |
CrinkumCrankum:That FG is starving Rivers State of funds should be a big concern to every Rivers man irrespective of ethnicity or political affiliation. I read where one silly man claimed that FGs seeding of Rivers oil to Bayelsa is right because Jonathan is more Kalabari than Amaechi. How sillier can one get? |
Ikengawo:I never expected this from you. Go read up about monorails and understand why this is not an easy fit. There are cheaper alternatives though but it is still a good project for a rich State with high traffic challenges like Rivers. Amaechi did everything as a leader from agriculture to education to roads to power to human resources to employment. |
Religion and brainwash are brothers. His brain arranged dreams and he believed he went to heaven. |
Fake news. The only true news is that Jonathan mistook Owerri city school for a varsity |
IGBOSON1:Ebonyi dude making waves. |

More from Orlu.

More from inside Orlu

Owerri/Orlu road at Nwaorieubi in Mbaitoli LGA and the almost completed Mbaitoli general hospital. One can see what looks like the old colonial hospital in one of the pics.
|
@millionaireman is this the St Augustine? I noticed the structure is about 6ft below road level and I have a feeling that successive reconstruction raised the height of the road. The structures inside looks colonial.
|
millionaireman:The problem of central drainage is universal and not peculiar to Orlu like you are trying to claim here. Owerri also has its own drainage challenges but the good news is that Imo State happens to be one of the Southern States with low flood disaster. Meanwhile more Orlu pictures. @asha80 you can tell pictures taken on Sundays from closed banks and public offices.

centje:Who are the people? Pay little or no attention to internet and live blackmails sponsored by some section of Igbo old men who are bent on keeping us as slaves. For any information on Imo State pay a personal visit. Inside Orlu pic.

I know of illegal gold mining in Osun State. Many secret millionaires. This blue diamond mining is also illegal and these people are having illegal fun. The same type we are having in Rivers and Bayelsa. Sharp guys will make billions before yawa gas. |
SaharaReporters has learned that the Cameroonian authorities paid Boko Haram insurgents at least $400,000 in ransom in order to secure the release of Francoise Agnes Moukouri, wife of Vice Prime Minister Amadou Ali. Cameroonian President Paul Biya Boko Haram insurgents had abducted Mrs. Ali in July from the town of Kolofata. The insurgents also seized the town’s district head. The deal to secure their release was struck three days ago, as SaharaReporters exclusively reported. Our source, who was part of the negotiation that led to the release of Mrs. Ali and several other hostages, disclosed that the terms of the settlement included the payment of an undisclosed sum of money from the Chinese government. Boko Haram subsequently released 10 Chinese construction workers who had been held hostage since their abduction in May. In addition, the Cameroonian government agreed to release four commanders of the Islamist group who had been in Cameroonian jails. The most disturbing part of the deal is that Boko Haram militants demanded and received a significant supply of arms and ammunition, including a guarantee by Cameroon that the weapons would have safe passage to insurgent fighters. Our source disclosed that President Idris Derby of Chad was instrumental in the negotiations because of his closeness to some Boko Haram commanders. SaharaReporters had exclusively reported three days ago that the Cameroonian and Chinese hostages had been released. Cameroonian Minister of Information, Issa Bakary, initially denied the report. However, the office of the Cameroonian President, Paul Biya, today declared that 27 hostages, including Mrs. Ali, 10 Chinese construction workers, and the district head of Kolofata had been released. The Islamist group has wreaked havoc in Nigeria’s northeast zone and has made occasional forays into neighboring Cameroon. http://saharareporters.com/2014/10/11/cameroon-paid-boko-haram-400k-ransom-plus-arms-and-ammunition-secure-release-deputy-prime |
To me religion is more or less a brainwash. None is real and none is false. Whatever your brain tells you is what you believe but learn to tolerate other peoples choice. |
He is not the only Muslim Eze in Imo State. |
http://www.thetidenewsonline.com/2014/10/10/bad-roads-tanker-drivers-give-fg-90-day-ultimatum-as-nupeng-strike-bites-harder-in-rivers-three-others/ The Petroleum Tanker Drivers branch of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers yesterday issued a 90-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to fix the many bad roads that heavy duty tankers ply across Nigeria.Specifically, the drivers stated that they had warned of an impending strike in parts of the South-East and South-South as a result of the deplorable state of the Port Harcourt-Eleme Junction road, Okigwe-Umuahia road and Jebba-Illorin road. The Chairman, PTD, Mr. Salimon Olatidi, told journalists yesterday that members of the union had on the expiration of the ultimatum last month avoided these roads and refused to lift products on the affected axis.He said the strike had entered its second week and the situation was becoming unbearable to residents in the areas.Olatidi said his members had wanted to extend the strike to Lagos, Abuja and other regions in the north, if not for the intervention of the Department of State Security Services, Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Chairman of Capital Oil Limited. He said, “We want to inform Nigerians that after due consideration and wider consultation with stakeholders in the oil and gas industry, we have directed our members to resume work in these areas where we had earlier withdrawn our services.“We don’t want to state the time duration that we are now giving the government to carry out urgent repairs on these roads as well as others, but if we wait for 60 to 90 days and nothing is done, by the time we strike nationwide people should not blame us.”Olatidi said the union agreed to heed the call of the DSS and the Petroleum Resources Ministry, adding that it had given “government more time to attend to these roads.“We, like every other Nigerian, are mindful of the hard times and we also fill the pain. So, we advice the Federal Government to send emissaries to verify the state of these roads and take palliative measures.“The road from Jebba to Ilorin, a distance of about 100km usually takes a whole day for our members to cover. Port Harcourt-Eleme Junction, a distance of about 15km takes over five hours, and the same goes for Okigwe-Umuahia road, as well as a few others across the country.” |
berem:What exactly has been my issue with the wicked Igbos? My issue with them is their attack on Rochas Okorocha while they are too weak to demand federal attention to the Southeast. Silently the Orlu/Owerri highway is at 70% completion as a dualised road done by Imo government with very little money. Most of these wicked Igbos are pretending not to notice this good deed. Every other day Olisa Metu posts pictures of Onitsha/Owerri road which this present government inherited 98% completed as Jonathans best deed for Igbos. |
emmysoftyou:There is dearth of pictures or activities from Okigwe despite being a proxy university town. Maybe I will also take out time from my busy schedule and visit there like I did for Orlu. |
UnknownT:That flyover looks abandoned or maybe waiting for the rains to chill. I therefore reserve my comment till dry season sets in. This year had so much rains. |
JEITO:I've written earlier that Obiano acts like a progressive more than PDP. I rather foresee him joinng APC or another party that supports good governance. |
Chiwude:I did not make use of Orlu/Ideato road but the Orlu/Owerri Road seems the major focus this year as work seems to have persisted despite the rains. It has reached 70% completion. As you can see from these pictures taken from your town of Umuaka, a lot is still left but the signs are there that work woll be accelerated when the rains subside. Notice UBA Umuaka branch.

New Owerri is shaping up good.
|
Orlu is developing but Owerri has gone far ahead of most Nigerian cities and is almost un-Nigerian in looks and layout. I'm particularly impressed with the rate of new and solid housing projects by both Government and individuals. As roads are being constructed so are these structures springing up with the road.
|
berem:Yes thats Orlu gate. You were wrong on the road though Thats an inner street in your community. Can you recognise this Church? The last pix is Orlu/Mgbidi road. All pix were taken around your villa.

New rural market at urbanising Umuaka andore Orlu pictures. I complained earlier about the dusty streets
