rozayx5: @bolded unless your new in this section can you please tell me instances where i was mocking igbo??Maybe Abia does not have as much money as Akwa-Ibom to construct federal roads. Are you happy that all roads leading to your State from Rivers, Abia and Crossriver States are all in deplorable state? Not everyone has the money to fly. |
rozayx5: if you wanna go to Lagos from Uyo by road , you gotta pass through all those bad Abia roads, once you leave Akwa Ibom Borders and step into Abia the roads are hellSometimes I get mad at you for trying to feel good and denigrating Igboland when you are not in any way better. Tell me if Itu-Calabar road is better than these roads or exactly same. Jonathan neglected all the federal roads linking your State to outside world and you are busy writing trash and feeling good. I agree that roads in Aba are in deplorable state but Orji deserves only 30% of the blame as most of these roads are federal roads. Jonathan has failed Eastern Nigeria. A journey from Port Harcourt to trailer park on East/West road now takes 4hours. |
NATIONAL No fewer than 100 armed policemen yesterday stormed the headquarters of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in Okwe, Onuimo Council Area of Imo State, apparently to flush out the factional commanders of the movement, who have resisted the quit order of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike , leader of the group due to leadership crisis that has been rocking the movement. Uchenna Madu, who was allegedly sacked by the MASSOB leader, as the Director of Information, said policemen vandalised the MASSOB headquarters in a bid to eject the commanders, who occupied the headquarters against the directives of Uwazuruike. “We were informed that policemen were acting on orders from above to force out the commanders from the headquarters because Uwazuruike had lied to the Presidency that we were working in alliance with the opposition parties to frustrate President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election in 2015. “How else can the police explain that Uwazuruike who was earlier summoned by the Imo State Police Command, will suddenly turn around to provide him with tactical support against the commanders, who were agitating for their rights against Uwazuruike’s misrule and betrayal.? But the truth is that we are not against President Jonathan or working in concert with any political party against his re-election; we are only insisting that Uwazuruike should render an account of the resources meant for the struggle.” Jonathan taking Igbos for a ride and they accepting all sorts of insult. Ihere megbukwa all of you. |
rozayx5: this is so bad, thats why i dont swallow all this abagworo shit, i hope nothing important takes me out of Uyo to this kind of filthy placehttp://dailyindependentnig.com/2013/10/uyos-uncommon-flooding-2/ newsmen that the flood menace is a perennial problem, and wondered why government, despite all appeals has refused to heed the plea of her citizens. Another resident of the estate, Mrs. Eyo, whose house was also flooded, recalled her experiences in the last three years: “In 2011, I lost all my property and started all over. In 2012, I had the same experience I am faced with now in 2013, yet the government would never even show concern.” A pensioner in the estate, Mr. Uduak Archibong lamented: “Our problem is not that we don’t have a government, we have a government, but my worry is why this kind of problem will not attract the attention and sympathy of the government.” A manager with one of the banks along Wellington Bassey Avenue lamented that the flood affected his father’s house and that all household properties were destroyed. His consolation however is that his parents escaped death by drowning as neighours quickly mobilized to rescue them from the flood. Other areas affected were the Julius Berger Quarters along Nsikak Eduok Avenue. The flood that hit the quarters came from Oron Road and part of the Methodist Church Cathedral was submerged by the flood which made the Oron Road exit of the road impassable. Emmanuel Edet, a lecturer at the University of Uyo, said his experience with the flood is traumatic. Edet lamented that all his household property was submerged by the flood and any time there is a sign of rain he is worried that he would be subjected to another flooding experience as nothing has been done to check a reoccurrence of the flood. He disclosed that he is contemplating leaving his current residence to another as soon the strike embarked upon by university lecturers across the country is over. For some pundits, Akpabio’s allegation of sabotage may be in order. Residents along Nsikak Eduok by Oron Road axis had earlier alleged that the flood in the area was caused by construction activities of the state Ministry of Works and a construction company (not Julius Berger) working around the area. Other culprits are members of the Green Brigade, who are saddled with the responsibility of sweeping the streets of Uyo. These women instead of sweeping and packing the sand, daily sweep the sand and other refuse into the gutters and drainage system, thereby blocking the gutters. Our correspondent observed that gutters in Uyo are barely a foot wide and less than two feet in depth and cannot contain the deluge of water in the state capital, especially as Uyo is a flat land. A major street like IBB Avenue, Uyo has no gutter or any form of drainage and flooding is inevitable. Uyo need good drainage network to convey water into the state pipe jack drainage system. Ikwerreboy: Thank you boss. Leave dese fools dat hv developed oda pples state nd live der state in darkness. Ikwerreboy: Thank you boss. Leave dese fools dat hv developed oda pples state nd live der state in darkness.I've ignored this thread for so long but I guess its time to tell the truth 1st of all you are not an Ikwerre boy as your moniker mischievously depicts. 2ndly Ikwerre being Igbo or not is left for Ikwerre and Igbo to discuss and not for Nairaland political arguments. 3rdly I am of Igbo and Ikwerre parents. My part of Igboland hails from Benin and you can easily observe the Benin influence in our tradition and Kingship but Ikwerre is completely stateless and kingless like the typical Igbo clans. We don't consider Ikwerre as part of the Orashi-Igbo clans that have Aboh-Bini connections. They belong to the Owerroid Igbos although detached lately from their other brothers of Uratta and Etche. 4thly Ikwerre is also heavily aroid. The Arochukwu people are part and parcel of what completes Ikwerre ethnicity. If you like you can go and enquire the roots of various compounds in "your village" to ascertain this. 5th Okrika and Kalabari people also have a heavy influence on Ikwerre metamorphosis. You could easily spot names like Nwa "rukwo"(Oronworukwo) or Umu "Kalabo"(Rumukalagbor) which clearly shows that compound was founded by a Kalabari(rukwo) or an Okrika man(Kalabo). Finally Ikwerre though Igbo-like in almost every aspect has grown to be a distinct ethnic group different from Igbo. You should desist from creating false stories or distorting history in order to lend credence to Ikwerre uniqueness. |
IGBOSON1: Only one building?I believe it might be modelled after Turkey-Turkey country university which is a massive co-joined structure with very nice environment. Well its still under construction.

NaijirianKing: Rochas was a good governor in terms of performance, but failed in terms of politics. Politics in Naijiria is not just performance, that's why some poorly performing governors easily get 2 terms, it's because they understand the political game.Go and mark these words like some people marked our remarks of suicide bombing coming to Nigeria when Mohammed Yusuf was killed in cold blood. There will be a total shut down of Nigeria next year by all labour unions and armed forces if 2015 is rigged like 2011. . |
This is a picture taken during inspection of North-west University which is being constructed by Kwankwaso government in Kano. I particularly like the Turkish architecture. It gives an Instanbul feel. Kano meka!

valicious1: Oga follow this link, no need for insultsIf it was possible you would have modified the date to 2014. |
Whether he said it or not APC and PDP are same people with different names. However we need to get ready to oust the wicked man known as Jonathan. He has destroyed Igboland. No single good road in all of Southeast and Southsouth apart from Onitsha/Owerri mostly done by Obasanjo. Only a useless fool will support the man who has lead Nigeria to religious war, tribalism, poverty, endless strikes by Doctors, labour unions, ASUU,ASUP. The security situation is at all time low. Zero power supply, zero pipe-born water. The lowest WAEC result ever. May God punish anybody hiding this bitter truth. |
ikeyman00: say yes to BiafraI've always been a supporter of Igbo course. I just don't believe in the name "Biafra". |
Arthur Ezeh is a useless thief and 419 king pin. He was known as Arthur 1000 during his criminal days. As an Igbo man at the corridors of powerand knowing fully well that it is Jonathan's duty to do those roads, why did he avoid blaming Jonathan but poured the entire blame on Orji. Igbos are very useless people and I'm sure they will as usual allow this re-knowned armed robber get away with this bull-ish. Theodore Orji is a bad leader but Goodluck Jonathan is a devil for abandoning all federal roads in the Southeast to decay beyond redemption. |
Jonathan is the worst Presidentin the history of Nigeria. I'm very disappointed in the man. I don't know of any sector that is working in Nigeria. It is only on papers that he has achievements or maybe in sharing money with Dangote and other bilionaires. 1) He inherited a great power innovation from Obasanjo of which the entire equipments needed for power generation had been procured and several power stations at various stages of completion. That was 7 years ago. Today power remains a dream across Nigeria. 2) The prices of all food items have increased by more than 200%. When his regime assumed power a bag of rice was 5000 Naira but today it is 13,000. This is same for tomoatoes, pepper, onions, beef and every food item. 3) Fuel was 65 Naira per litre when he assumed office which he later increased to 97 Naira. At 65 Naira in other regimes amount paid on subsidy was less than 200billion per annum but with the increase of pump price by 32 Naira which should have reduced the amount paid on subsidy, it rather catapulted to 1.1 trillion per annum. 4) With the rate of kidnapping, robbery and terrorism it is obvious that the general security in Nigeria has deteriorated since Jonathan became President. He has persistently been accused by deposed Henry Okah as the mastermind of the 1st terrorism bomb attack on October 1st 2010. 5) All the roads in Southeast and South-south are in pitiable condition. In fact the only good federal road which is the Owerri/Onitsha road was inherited by him 98% completed. The rest have either been abandoned or are at snail pace till today. |
redcliff: If you compare with european cities again. May thunder fire your fingersAre you saying the black man should not aspire to attain or even surpass Europe? I still maintain my stand that a mere environmental improvement will give Aba a Europe-like facelift. The city is well built as shown by these pictures from skyscrapercity. Only Onitsha is the other city built like this in Nigeria. I have my popular criticism of the architecture which I've been advised to stop but its way above other Nigerian towns.
|
veesion: Osisioma junction,it was a more than hell situation 4 motorists and pedestrians this morning, wondering how many MISCARRIAGES that has and wld b recorded as a result of these bad road in Aba,May God punish TA ORJI an generations after him,I almost criedGod should punish Jonathan for the state of that road and not Orji. Enugu/PH road is Jonathan's duty. I've never read where people blame Mimiko for Lagos/Ore. |
Aba has an impressive housing development. Mere construction of good roads will give it a very beautiful outlook. Imagine a city with this sort of structures having well paved and marked road and greenery. There won't be much difference with European cities.
|
DikeOha882: One thing my beloved Aba needs desperately is road reconstruction but Thief Ahamefula Orji has failed us we the people of Aba, so called governor is callous and a devil incarnate, One thing that gladens my heart about Enyimba is Its viability, Another thing I like about Aba is that it does not have rusty roofs despite its challenges. You must bend before you go see Aba, just ask Ruffcoin Nwa Aba.Aba is not rusty but Igbos need to stop being naïve and demand Jonathan's action on federal roads. If the federal government maintained the Enugu/PH expressway, Aba/Ikot-Ekpene highway and Aba/PH road, the State Government would have been blamed completely. But the case today is that as a result of neglect of the highways transversing Aba by FG, heavy duty vehicles were forced to use residential quality roads as alternative routes thereby inflicting heavy damage on the roads constructed for light vehicles. |
100Cents: Make I comment before I read.As usual with the Igbo cowards you've either ignorantly or deliberately tried to exonerate this wicked man known as Jonathan from his disregard for Igbos and South-south people. All the roads transversing through the former Eastern regions are in ruins. I'm fed up with Jonathan's government and its ineptitude and utter disregard for Igbos. Somebody quoted Akwa-Ibom like the roads there are in good state. Try to travel to Calabar from Itu or from Ikot-Ekpene to Aba or Ikot-Ekpene to Umuahia. All the roads connecting Akwa-Ibom to other States are in ruins. Travelling on East-West road from Port harcourt to Onne takes 5hours. It is one of the worst roads in the world. Travelling from Port harcourt to Owerri is suicidal. Try to journey from Port harcourt to Enugu and you'll regret your life. Let's save our future. Igbos say no to Jonathan's disastrous leadership. |
I was last in Ibadan in 2008 and the impression I got was a large rural cluster. In the Igbo world old Ibadan cannot be considered a township because the houses are short and are mostly owned by indigenes and arranged in family quarters. However in reality Ibadan can be defined as an ancient city with modern offshoots. It was the 2nd largest city in land mass after Lagos but I doubt it is bigger than Port-Harcourt area today. Going by 2006 google pictures, Lagos is by far the largest in Nigeria by land mass but much smaller than Cape town area of South Africa. Ibadan comes 2nd and Kano 3rd, Kaduna 4th, Benin 5th and PH 6th. However today Port-Harcourt seems to be dragging for the 2nd position with Ibadan. Lagos is by far the largest city in Nigeria both by land mass and population. Has the most high-rises as well. Has the biggest economy, highest number of businesses and almost everything. |
I believe this man. He looks genuine and he claims to have evidence. The US should as a matter of urgency call for a meeting of stakeholders in Nigeria to help us stop an impending crisis. Only God knows what will happen when people on the streets get hold of this man's evidence. God help us the masses. |
One thing about Nigerians is that we are beclouded with sentiments and enjoy lying to ourselves. If the poster has business in mind, then there are 2 areas of Igboland that are clearly top. 1) The Igbo heartland which starts from Orlu in Imo State and stops at Awka in Anambra State with such towns as Nkwerre, Amaigbo, Orlu, Ideato, Nnewi, Neni, Uga, Akokwa, Umuoji, Okija, Ozubulu,Awka-etiti etc. And 2) The Northern Abia area which is also known as old Bende. This includes such towns as Abiriba, Igbere, Alayi, Uzuakoli, Ohafia, Arochukwu, Ovim etc. |

The best answer for liars and blackmailers is to ignore them. They can fabricate a million lies but the truth remains golden. Okorocha is a shining light and cannot be quenched. |
ketoprofen: And how many times wl u keep facing realities when its obvious the gov doesn't care.Theodore Orji is not a competent leader. He has some mentality that is keepinghis state infrastructuraly deterred. His problems are enormous when compared with Abia allocation and he is not working on increasing the IGR to raise funds or even borrow to aid infrastructure. From every information I have Abia seems to be the least indebted State in the Southeast and Orji has even reduced their debts by paying off reasonable fraction. Maybe he believes that is an achievement even though its a mark of incompetence. The next Governor should declare infrastructure in Aba a state of emergency and start by demolishing houses and creating deep artificial rivers that will serve as natural drainage even before embarking on any form of road construction. |

When you read the comments on this thread https://www.nairaland.com/1481520/flood-uyo-despite-drainage-system you'll realize how gullible and biased Nigerian mind can be. Flooding remains a natural disaster and sometimes is beyond us. Orji has not invested in road constructions in Aba but you cannot blame him for flooding which is as a result of nature, terrain and indiscriminate building of houses on natural drainage system. Uyo has same problem and even Port-Harcourt, Lagos or Owerri. I will come up with pictures from almost all the cities in Nigeria with flooded bad road. Enough of this campaign against Igboland and gullible Igbos falling prey. |
abacrested: Inside the Uyo and Calabar parkThis is an era of destructive flooding and its everywhere. Aba has a long lasting problem of flooding because it grew on a flat wetland with people building on top of natural channels. This flooding has always been there and requires serious funds to solve. Those used to google earth can easily notice Ariaria market and almost half of Aba is below sea level and that's a dangerous siuation. If I were to be in charge, I'd take a loan to fund an artificial channelling project where mini-rivers will be created to cut across that area and channelled to Imo river. It will cost a lot but will solve the drainage problem once and for all. |
