Patience Jonathans visit has been causing gridlock across Nigeria and I've never read where a Governor was blamed for the menace. Things like this is expected as roads were blocked on the opening day of the conference.

Congratulations to Ala Owerri for finally hosting the conference against all odds including false ebola scare, false bomb scare and hundreds of petitions from PDP.

I also have the same problem with the 'proper local' contractors Imo and Abia like to use for their roads! You can tell the difference between their roads and those of say Akwa Ibom and Enugu! Especially roads in Abia (both rural and urban); they have the ugliest and cheapest-looking roads in the entire South East/South South regions"!

At the end of the day new set of skilled Igbos will be groomed in road construction and in future can outdo Julius Berger and other dubious foreigners used in duping Nigeria.

I've also noticed that you're not critical of Enugu like you are of Imo thereby showing level of bias on your part. Most village roads in Imo have been constructed in the past 3 years while urban roads have been reconstructed with covered drainages and walkways. I've been seeing open drainages all over this thread and you've not said anything about it. If we want to criticise let us be frank and devoid of partiality and blackmail. Just because Okorocha an Igbo man wants to be President or VP, stupid Igbos collected money and started lying and trying to blackmail him by dismissing or belittling his achievements in every aspect of governance.

Which other Governor apart from Amaechi has built 200 schools in 7 years? Okorocha has done that in 3 years and will make it 305 in his 4th year. Let us call a spade what it is and celebrate our own instead of selling our conscience for money.

Finally these roads have no difference with any other road anywhere in the world apart from maybe size, length and function. Owerri city has well maintained lawns. Only Calabar rivals it.

PoliticsRe: Ohakim Joins Imo Guber Race by abagoro(m): 6:39pm On Aug 24, 2014
As far as Imo State is concerned none of those being mentioned here is on the same level as Okorocha. They are liliputians and to win an election you need to cut across zones and not your particular area.

Those trying to mention Okorocha along side Ohakim are commiting blasphemy against God.

shaboti: Abagoro what do you mean? That church had been there for a long time, there's nothing like kindness.. the anglican church have the certificates for that land so its not asif the land was dashed to them. This is not the first time thos kind of thing has happened and am glad they have finally decided to speak up
Hope you read this part.

Going down memory lane, Eluomunor said the school,
on which premises the demolished church situated, was
built by Nkwelle Ezuunaka people in 1980 and handed
over to Anambra State government, recalling that the
Anglican Church started worshiping there more than10
years after the school was built.
He said: “It was Chief G.U. Okeke, Chairman of GUO
Group of Companies, who came to Nkwelle Ezunaka
and pleaded that Anglican Church be allowed to
worship there and promised that the church would
never contest ownership. The Anglican Church reached
an agreement with Nkwelle Ezeuaka that it would pay
N20 annually for using the premises, an agreement the
church has reneged on.”
PoliticsRe: Church Demolition In Anambra: Villagers, Anglicans Go To War Over Land by abagoro(m): 1:52pm On Aug 24, 2014
I so much dislike the attitude of Nigerians when it comes to land. The kindness of the community has been taken for granted by Church and they are now using blackmail against the villagers. If Anglican wants a new Church, they should buy land and build. Nkwelle Ezunaka people are experiencing rapid urbanisation due to proximity to Onitsha and their land is highly valued.
CrimeRe: Fake Cement Factory Discovered In Abia State, owner Arrested-nscdc. by abagoro(m): 4:53pm On Aug 23, 2014
NewsAlert: Seven men specialized in cement adulteration have been arrested by the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. They were arrested at Asa Umunka village in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of the state according to the NSCDC official who paraded them on Friday. Narrating how they were arrested, NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Andy Dateer, said his men spotted a compound that looked like a cement factory and decided to verify the type of business activity that was going on there, according to report from The Punch.

He said when his men eventually raided the compound, they were shocked by the discovery of over 40,000 bags of bagged cements of various brands and about one million empty new cement sacks also of different brands piled in a room. The prime suspect, Chief Samuel Nwokeneme, 62, said the “business” was established early this year by his late son who died three weeks ago in an auto crash along the Enugu- Port Harcourt Expressway. Nwokeneme denied that they engaged in illegal cement production, but said he had to continue with the late son’s business to keep the family going.

@bolded. The quantity is alarming. The quality needs to be tested and the distribution network determined ebola style to avoid further spread of this cement. If the quality is satisfactory, then there is no cause for alarm. I've always suspected Dangote in the spate of collapse building incidents across Nigeria but a case such as this brings more questions to be answered. God help us all.
PoliticsRe: President Jonathan Sick, Flown to Germany for Urgent Medical Treatment by abagoro(m): 4:37pm On Aug 23, 2014
15 years later, there is still no good hospital in Nigeria. We obviously need a violent change. Some State Governors are trying. I can remember vividly when Rochas Okorocha was involved in an auto-crash and had to travel to England for check ups and people were extremely critical of him. He was barely a year in office then. Today he has completed a diagnostic centre that has everything he travelled for. If such check-ups is needed today, he'll simply drive 3 kilometers from government house to Ochie Dike centre for check ups.

That's the kind of leader Nigeria needs. Today Imo State has shortage of public hospitals because he decided to start the health sector from the scratch. Within the next 2years, I'm so certain that Imo will have the best public hospitals in Nigeria. "No pain, no gain" they say.

Onyegecha: What is wrong with agro allied raw materials? Why can't we maximize what we have for the benefit of our state? Only palm produce can develop a state that has visionary leaders. Please stop propagating falsehood in the name of defending a clueless government.
Imo State is highly blessed in raw materials but you seem trying to sell the falsehood to the world that Okorocha is the reason Imolites are not building enough factories or industries. Let me make it clear that before Okorocha Imo State had 3 dead major industries which is
1) Ada palm

2) Avutu industrial poultry and

3) Standard shoes Owerri.

From 1999 till 2011 none of the governors succeeded in revamping these 3 state-owned industries but today Okorocha has made them functional. I think that will encourage some of us to come back home and invest.

The hope of Imo ever industrialising lies in Orlu. They are the people that have the money and business acumen to effect industrialisation and commercialisation in Imo State. Okorocha knows this and that's why he's joining Orlu to Owerri with a dualised expressway. It will help in attracting more people to the potentials of Orlu and encourage Orlu millionaires to make use of Orlu's accessibility. The effects of Okorocha's idea will not be felt so quickly but will be gradual. Already 2 notable industries have opened in Imo State since 2012 and this includes AVM industries Naze and Eagle Motors Akabo. More are springing up in the Orlu area in addition to the older ones like Consolidated/Heineken brewery, Awo Omamma and Jacobs wine.

Why are some people bent on looking for a fault in a good man?

They tried to bomb Imo State but were caught by our vigilante and today they've set the bombers free without trail. Who are they?

They've written thousands of petitions and even attempted bribing NBA to prevent the conference from Imo State but the Chairman remained resilient and uncompromising. Who are they?

They've peddled rumours of ebola scare in Imo in order to prevent the world to come to Imo and verify the good works of the Governor. Who are they?

Okorocha is a very wise man and is tapping into the well known potentials of Imo State as a tourist haven. Owerri as a city has a beautiful soul which makes everyone keen on coming back to the city as much as possible. With the various open squares, green areas, convention centres, beautiful roads which Okorocha's government has embarked upon, I see Owerri finally realising and profiting from this potential sooner than later.

The NBA conference will be an opportunity for 20,000 lawyers from all tribes, States and strata of Nigeria to assess Okorocha and tell the truth to the whole world. The truth that they've been trying to suppress with false news, false pictures and lots of blackmail. Let us all wait for the 20,000 lawyers to be the "judge" and get 20,000 "verdicts".

God bless Imo State

God bless Nigeria

shoefreak: Aba is a very dirty city I swear. Been there twice, my Igbo ex was from Alai. Sister lived in Agbor Hill, which seems to be the best place in the city.

When I was there, Chris's sister wanted to teach me how to make oha, didn't look like it could experience this. This is def man made.
I won't doubt the fact that Aba has several bad roads but your statement sounds too ignorant. Aba has a better metropolis than most Nigerian cities and badly developed slum offshoots and outskirts like the Ogbo Hill you mentioned. I admire the ability of my Abia brothers to absorb falsehood because they dislike the Governor for not doing anything in Aba but it does not mean Aba is entirely a slum. Most multinationals in Lagos are also in Aba and so are many international companies. Their staffs live in good residential areas around the city. The metropolis has a lot of beautiful moderately tall Igbo styled corporate buildings that house head office of many Abia born business men. It is not like Oshodi or Makoko, Ikorodu etc. The picture posted by the OP has been around the net for 10Years since Orji Kalu was the Governor so I can't tell if it has remained same till date.

OdenigboAroli: Do that and they will say you hate Enugu people. The reason why Enugu Internally Generated Revenue hasn't seen any increase is because the governor has no vission. Chime is clueless, lets face it. Anybody can do what he is doing in Enugu. Whats there? Collect allocation, pay workers, use the rest to reconstruct and beautify Enugu city and maybe every now and then go to one village a build a single substandard road..lol
Chime's ineptitude has no comparison. And it infuriates me when people put his name down as one of the best performing governors. Some people love to live in denial.
If care is not taken Enugu will become an abandoned city...If what Obiano is trying to do succeeds. Enugu people are too laid back and that is affecting their advancement.
There's this problem we have in Igboland which was created by some ignorant Igbos about artificial State boundaries. The truth is that Igbos generally have Abakaliki as there Agricultural/mining capital, Onitsha and Aba as commercial capitals, Enugu as administrative capital and Owerri as tourism capital. If Igbos can work baring this in mind, then our chances of developing as a block is possible.

Chris Nwabueze Ngige change system of governance in Igboland when he decided to tackle the issue of typical red earth rural roads which was the norms in Igbo villages. Peter Obi came in and rather than stop, decided to continue with Chris Ngige's idea of making rural areas accessible. It is the same thing Rochas Okorocha has done and is still doing in Imo State but he even went further by dualising highway linking Orlu and Owerri, another linking Orlu and Akokwa and another linking Owerri with Aba(though now taken over by FG). However Governorship is not all about road as education, job creation, agriculture, health and lots more is involved.

Enugu will always remain our administrative capital and can never turn to highly commercial or highly industrial like Aba. Nnewi people made a mark by deciding to site their factories at home and the credit should never be given to any Governor or Government as some people have been attempting to do. The environment in Nnewi was not and is still not conducive. There are no good wide roads, planned industrial layouts, special Government bank loans or Government housing schemes. It remains a self-help and patriotic effort. All Igbos need to emulate the Nnewi people and come back home for major investments while you make your money abroad.

Based on old census from the 60s Ogbomosho was then one of the largest cities in Nigeria but it has dropped today as evidenced from the last 2006 census. I wish and pray for APC to take over Abia because they will likely field a credible candidate but it is almost impossible. Abia is under total grip of a structure set by Orji Uzor Kalu and inherited by Theodore Orji. There has never been an election and there will still not be an election in 2015. Theodore Orji will win and go for Senate and whoever he pleases will succeed him.

Just like we will have in Nigeria's 2015 Presidential election, so will it be in Abia. Only a mass action and total grounding of government can enact the people's choice as Governor.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by abagoro(m): 9:23pm On Aug 19, 2014
Many Igbos surprise me with their views despite my believe that we are the most widely travelled. Kano is a developed modern city and the GRA is finer than all the GRAs in the Southeast. It is also far more cosmopolitan in both ethnic and racial mix than all parts of Nigeria except Lagos, Rivers and Abuja.

That said Kano probably has the highest number of absolute poor people in Nigeria and has so many slum districts that encourage spread of diseases, Religious violence and extremism. Enugu all round is more liveable than Kano but never as developed.

Yes that what my dad told me that due to the structure of nigeria a governor doesnt need to fight the central because they wield so much power and can use it to scuttle and weaken you.
For example when Jim Nwobodo was busy fighting Ekwueme and FG government, Mbakwe was weeping on the feet of Shagari and Imo was developing more than Ananbra.
Imo state achived alot during Mbakwe's administration but Jim was Rochas of this republic.

Ekwueme tried with his little power and attracted some investments and federal presnce in Anambra but Jim was antagoniszing everything.

Pita Obi wanted to befriend Obasanjo but as Obj the Beast of No Nation Obasanjo used federal might to impeach him, he had ransacked the state with terrorists before.

Orji is in good rapport with the Fed but i dnt know what Abia is benefiting from it, even the Geometric sited in Aba he couldnt see to its fruitfulness, the guy is visionless.

Enugu is on good page with the fed and you dnt need anybody to tell you weather they are benefiting or not.

Rochas is running with the wrong crowd APC, he is fighting Jihad on Jonathan, he is fighting FG, he is fighting Abia, he is quarreling Anambra, he is taunting Chris Anyanwu, he is beefing the Church, he is sacking the Igwes, he is sparring Ihedioha....this guy is too busy distracting himself with fighting and quarreling.

1st of all geometric is a private investment and has been completed long ago but an Igbo man by the name of Emeka Offor is the person preventing it from taking off. Why can't Igbo elders and all you hypocrites call out Emeka Offor? All you do is collect money and talk thrash.

2ndly it sounds absurd and abominable to me that a so-called Igbo man is happy that FG is not working in some Igbo States just because he has a feeling his own State is gaining. Those are some of the things that put me at loggerheads with some of you fools.

PoliticsOru Owere Outburst: Okorocha’s Statement Has Nothing To Do With Me –anyanwu by abagoro(op): 8:18am On Aug 06, 2014
NATIONAL
Senator Chris Anyanwu has said she was not the object of Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha’s statement that husband beaters will not step into his shoes as governor of the state in 2015. A statement by her Special Adviser, Emmanuel Onuoha, said the explanation became necessary because of a “number of social media blogs and commentaries linking her name to “the primitive outburst of the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, at last week’s Oru Owere ceremony.”

Okorocha had reportedly pledged to ensure that nobody with questionable character occupied Douglas House after his tenure, describing most of those seeking to replace him as fraudsters and husband beaters.

But in her reaction, Anyanwu insisted that the “caricature” painted by the governor did not fit her, saying she was not the only female politician in the race for Imo governorship.

She, however, swiped Okorocha for making unguarded statements in public. The governor, she said, was intent on scaring away “achievement-oriented” female opponents.

Her words: “It is interesting to note that the governor did not have the courage to publicly name the particular aspirant he had in mind, because he knows the consequences. The governor was conforming to the typical stereotype where strong, achievement-oriented women in politics are frightened off with labels.

“The governor’s romance with the microphone and tendency to shoot off the mark is legendary; the reason why his hosts now consider snatching the equipment from him and his aides turn apprehensive whenever he gets up to make a public speech!”

Describing herself as a proud daughter of Owerri, Anyanwu said Okorocha could not have gone to her own home to insult her, not to talk of doing so at a venue she “single-handedly built in her constituency.”

The senator advocated issues-based campaigns in the run-up to the governorship election in 2015.

“We would like to state that the Imo State governorship election in 2015 must be about issues and about Imo State – what each aspirant or candidate can do or has brought to the table, and how this will impact or has impacted on the life of Imo citizens. It should not be about a tiny clique of politicians desperate for power and willing to do everything to gain or retain it, including desecrating tradition, insulting their hosts, breaching protocol to engage in rabble-rousing, and generally conducting themselves in manners unbecoming of their high office,” she counselled.
