Favfables1: Chief... I don't know your wife o, buh from what you've said, I can assume that you have no backing and support in her when the financial chips are down...
So I would advise you to open a fixed deposit account and save like 3k - 5k every month from now till you retire so that you can start a business you can fall back on...
Cause if she can be like this now, then how will things be like when you lose your source of livelihood??
Buh in all you do... Take care of your kids, don't neglect them on her account...
And try to bring up the matter again in the near future... 3k dollars, right?? I had to ask cos 3k Naira every month for 30 years is roughly 1 million naira. In 30 years, 1 million Naira won't be able to buy a nice shoe. A retirement savings plan shouldn't be less than 30k every month for the average salary earner. |

When you're married, you'll realize that some of these questions aren't necessary. The man that leaves work at 4pm can as well decide to go to a beer parlour after work. What you gonna do if that happens?
Men should know who they're getting married to and women should also know who they're getting married to. If you are married to a man that believes a woman should do most of the cooking, then you would be f00lish to expect him to live in the kitchen 24/7 even if he closes work at 10AM. |

OgogoroFreak: Which mint sim?
Can you activate ussd with a sim not linked to the account? Majority link their account with at least one banking channel. I don't think I have ever seen anyone open an account without at least one of USSD, SMS/Email notifications, mobile banking, ATM, or internet banking. In fact, when you open an account, the bank needs your phone number to deliver your account number and balance to you. Anyone can activate the USSD without having to visit the banking hall as far as the phone number is linked to an account (and you can't have an account without a phone number). |

As painful and unfortunate as the incidence is, that does not mean the students have to go on a destructive rampage. It solves absolutely nothing! As at yesterday, there trucks have already been burnt, trucks that had no fault in the tragedy but the owners have lost their means of livelihood as a result of the violent rampage. If police does not put a stop to the protests, criminals will hijack it and use it to loot and destroy properties like we saw what happened in Lagos barely a year ago. But trust Nigerians who are too emotional and anti-government to think straight. Absolutely. |

Not a friend of the police but why didn't you upload the other videos where Ojodu thugs and students attacked some policemen?
If I own a shop or business in that area, I would even volunteer to buy some bullets for the police to shoot down any stupid hoodlum that wants to take advantage of the situation. These animals called thugs don't care about the kids or their parents. All they need is an avenue to attack the police station, eject their colleagues and loot shops and businesses.
Chaos is a business opportunity for thugs. Sane Nigerians thrive in peace, thugs thrive during chaos and crisis. |

The disadvantage of that is that you will always have to be present in your bank before any transaction is made. This is the easiest way to get scammed. Scammers need that mint SIM to activate your USSD. |

Contentment is a special recipe for confidence. Nothing builds confidence more than being content with what you have. It also a way to overcome certain kinds of bullying.
It is a very dangerous trend to build a child's confidence around material things. Very very dangerous. A lot of parents are in serious debt all because they want their kids to belong to a certain social class. The funny thing about life is that whatever it is you think you're spending to raise their "confidence", there are people willing to waste your entire net worth on wine and wristwatch. Spend as much as you want but make them understand that there's more to life.. |

Hi dear, I respect your position on the issue. As a matter of fact, the only reason I'm on this thread is because the OP tried to present the man as a bad person. It's very obvious and that's why it seems as though everyone is against her.
I don't see the so called "ulterior motive" in what the man has done. Whoever wants an idea with a grave consequence should be able to pay the price. |

JovialJune: [/s]
What do you mean by the truth?
It behooves me that so many people are not and don't even know the meaning of "open mindedness", you all think because we are in Africa and Nigeria, certain things can't happen here, you are the kind of person that instead of facing reality, you prefer to see things in a limited way, your likes are the ones who insults, degrade people who decides to open up and speak up instead of keeping some certain aspects of their lives to themselves just to conform with societal norms, that is why Nigeria and most African countries are where they are today,
Change is constant, the world is changing fast leaving us behind, open your mind and accept the fact there are people who will continue to deviate from the usual norm you all are used to, so believe it or not, there are so many Nigerians(men and women) that are not interested in children, one child policy, and retaining their singlehood till old age/death, same with Vasectomy/hysterectomy. Go to hospitals and ask doctors/consultants. Will you advise your brothers to embrace vasectomy after one child? Talking about degrading people, I'll advise you to look at the mirror o. You're the one making assumptions here that African men are probably backward for not embracing a so called one child policy that failed woefully in one of the most liberal nations on earth. I'm only living my reality rather than making up assumptions. China is the only country that has ever declared a one child policy and that act has been long abolished. Now they're trying to fix the mess they got themselves into. Those who embraced that policy are almost insignificant in relative term. If you ask 100 Americans, you'll be lucky to find 0.5% agreeing to one child policy. I'm not sure you'll get 0.1% agreeing to not only one child, but also vasectomy! (Ask me for the link to the survey, if you need it). We don't have to drag this too far. We can simply close the thread if you agree to link your brother with OP. |
Family › Re: Could He Have Ulterior Motives By Disagreeing To This? Should I Opt Out? by Acidosis(m): 1:01pm On Dec 04, 2021 |
Prettiepearlz: Please ignore those who wants to derail your thread. With regards to your thread, like I said earlier you are not selfish for wanting one child. Motherhood and pregnancy is not beans as well and what's the point in birthing children you will resent and not have the emotional and mental capacity to be able to take care of them? However you will be selfish if you make someone reluctantly agree to something they don't want to do. In your case, the guy doesn't want to do a vasectomy and he even reluctantly agreed to your one child policy which to me is a red flag for you and your wants. He is not a bad man, he knows what he wants but he doesn't know how to communicate. He probably reluctantly agreed because he feels you will change your mind after one child. So when you came with vasectomy, he out rightly said NO! Ignore these Nairalanders insulting you and get out of the relationship. You both are not good for each other because you're not on the same page. There are a lot of guys out there who would agree with the one child you want and immediately get a vasectomy. I wish you all the best. Trust me, the people insulting you are not worth it. Tell her the truth please. If your brother is not one of those "lot of guys", then you're not being sincere. Everything no be gender war and gender alliance. Ladies should sometimes see things from their brother's perspective. Men with sisters should do same too. That's how to maintain a meaningful stance on issues. |
