FoodRe: When You See A Man In The Market: by acidtalk(op): 11:18pm On Jul 25, 2012
PrettyCindy: Wislet is right in her assumptions but it doesn't apply to all men. My former neighbour, a family man with 2 children buys every single thing in the house. If they want to make soup, he buys all the ingredients and hands them over to his wife. If for any reason he gives his wife money to buy stuffs from the market, he must, i mean must collect the change from his wife. How do i know all these, whenever they quarrel, which they did alot, they always blabbed about it and the woman never fails to express her displeasure with the man always going to the market.
*laugh make me go do stop and search for BRT buses*
that woman must have been playing the man maga.
maybe he used the money for soup to build duplex in her village and the man found out.

If i was the woman, i will never ever prepare such soup.
him that went to the market should be the one to cook the soup.

spicy v: @ OP: You made some striking points. However, frugality or carefully planning to live within your means is not a function θf being an Entrepreneur, its a personal choice. A wasteful person will always be wasteful, whether he is an entrepreneur or earns a salary. So, wastefulness or frugality is not determined by your occupation but by your values and principles as an individual.
well we want to play the comparism game right now.
we sure know its an individual thing but comparing amongst both different "zones" is.......

eemjay17: Welldone on d good work @OP. But please i will like if you can help with a good business plan for small scale boutique to include men/women/kid wears. Am once into d biz back then in skul nd now am plannin to go into it .plus if anyone can elp suggest where to get correct stuff to stock d shop. My budget is within d range of #200k - 250k. Tnx in anticipation.
First and foremost i will want to find out if you intend getting a loan to finance your business on the immediate. If the answer is No! then i will suggest you getting started first before bothering yourself with a business plan.

The truth is most people crave to own a business plan which they probably might never open.

building a business plan for you isnt a big deal but i dont see you needing in right now.

I will suggest you lookout for people who bring in the goods directly into the country (distributors/wholesalers).
create a good and trustworthy raport with them so that they can give you goods more than the deposit you make.

most important is to get your customers onground before pumping too much money into the business.

I will suggest 3 different categories of books. one for building self esteem, one for motivation and the last for building business ideas.

Self Esteem :
How to talk to anyone, anytime, anywhere (Larry King)

Motivation :

How to get from where you are to where you want to be (Jack Canfield)*
What got you here won't get you there (Marshall Goldsmith)*

Building Business Ideas :

Start small finish big (Fred Deluca)
Young Guns (Robert Touchman)
The psychology of selling (Brian Tracy)*

the (*) books are the ones i advice you must first try and buy. i am also recomending it to every other reader in this thread.

I am ready to refund your money if on finish reading them you dont feel better and more confident with yourself.

feelamong: Good One Acidtalk...

Been taking notes all the while ..Am a wine dealer but I have a wife who ios job seeking that is so academically inclined...she wants to become a lecturer in the Public health area and notin else..she does consults for people at times but this job comes sparingly....

I have told her to create a business model around her consulting but she is not that business inclined....she is so much an introvert....

I have also told her to set up a side business that will earn a few bucks for her as she keeps looking for the breakthru consulting job...how can one make her see reason in being business oriented, to go out and look for the consulting contracts/contacts?
First and foremost, you can never force someone to do what they are not interested in.
But in the case of your wife i feel not that she doesnt want to make that step forward, she doesn't just know how to get started.

I will love to suggest a couple of books she can get.

if she enjoys reading please let me know as the books will definitely change her mind set forever.
all the best.
CareerRe: Are White Collar Employees More WASTEFUL Than Their Entrepreneur Counterparts? by acidtalk(op): 10:08am On Jul 25, 2012
you made a vital point.
Dont forget employees most times get involved in office crimes if rhe opportunity surfaces all so that they they add to their salaries and live large.

like you said, this generation has lot all forms of financial education and have totally bizzare in wastage.
CareerAre White Collar Employees More WASTEFUL Than Their Entrepreneur Counterparts? by acidtalk(op): 11:34pm On Jul 24, 2012
Are White collar workers more WASTEFUL than Entrepreneurs?

Its always a known fact especially in the Banking, Telecoms and Oil and Gas workers to live lavish (most times far beyond their means).

The status image that comes with these jobs have seen most of these workers live very large, buy state of the art auto mobiles and globe trot when the opportunity arises.

Most times these set of people are entangled in loans to meet up with their wasteful and extremely expensive lifestyle.

These set of people's financial strength surfaces a few months (sometimes years) after they have lost their jobs.

While on the other hand, entrepreneurs are known to be frugal in nature. They most times always take loan to invest in their businesses and reap the benefit of the profit over time.

While the white collar job employees lives big at a early stage in his career, he is most times over taken by his counterpart who went into entrepreneurship.

badboy: I'm wondering why this bank will call up an entry-level staff working in Port Harcourt on a Sunday to resume in Benin next day, that she has been transferred.......happened to my sibling's fiancee. She cried her eyes out throughout Sunday...very sad.
But at leaset still better she didn't cry her heart out that she has lost her job.

doofanc: you guys would do well to read properly before commenting. The article said retirement, not sack or lay-off. These are people are have been in the system for quite some time; for some eg the GM, it could be over two decades.. If after all these time they've not planned for their retirement, then it unfortunate.
Mr Grammarian.

They can retire a man who is just 2days old on a job.
Every entity is free to use whatever language that best suit it in laying off its staff, either retrnchment, layoff, disengaged, sack, or downsizing.

The bottom line is they tossed some people off their pay list and requested they drop their I.D card and other company property in their possession.

Wake up dude.
Don't believe in all those words you read in your Economics, Business Studies and Law books. They no longer apply in the rugged and wicked world of today.

It is all about Survival of the fittest.
Either your boss sacks you or you sack him, one day one day sha, na one go sack the other.

vitality22: The guy just makes the SUV look very suspicious. You want to sell a car there are no history of what you want to sell. No good information on the product you want people to buy.
If this guy can provide this informations you stated here, i will buy this SUV within the next 24hrs. N750,000 is not 750 naira.
When he wants to sell, he will let us know. For now he is still joking.
As for me this SUV is SUSPICIOUS.
When its time, you will let us know what your grieviance is with the seller.
You sound uneccessarily bitter and really obvious you have neither owned a car before or have money to buy one.

Failure!

vitality22: Guy, do you think there will be any need to call you when you insist on selling 780k. If you agree on the 720k i said, let me know. Am in Minna now. If you dont want to agree here, you can send it as a mail to vitusboy@yahoo.com
Calling you is not an issue. If we agree on a deal i will call you for inspection and payment. Mind you pls my name is not vitallis
You are a very rude and unserious buyer.
Your type are just time wasters.
Even if you aren't educated must you make it glaring to the whole world?

You want to buy something and you expect the seller to be the one calling you? Your type are just the whole lot of sillybrains that fill nairaland. Especially this auto section.

If you don't have sense you are forgiven afterall it isn't your fault. But why want to make us now feel you can afford to buy the car when in the real sense you are just a freaking failure.

Go and learn some manners how to negotiate.

I advice you to pretend you didn't see this because your replying will only spell your doom.

This were your words Feb 06.
It baffles me seeing adamant business people like you.
A meager N100,000 less would have seen you close that deal. 5 months later and you are here selling far less the initial price.

Don't be surprised if you end up selling it for 30-40% less the original price to asked for.

Oyinbo wey say "make hay while the sun shine" you think say na idi*ot?

pro01: Old hag, what you need to get rid of is your self-delusion. At this stage in your life you should be closer to your God since the end is nigh, and hell-fire looms. Then again, I assume only men on their death-beds would desire you. Stop hiding under the anonymity of the internet to claim cyber Beyonce. Meanwhile, I agree I'm not a "real man"; I don't even know what that shit means. . .not when the definitions of "real man" are as numerous as the wrinkles on your old, flabby azz.
Ouch!!!
Are you insinuating I am on my 'death bed' for desiring her? That's too hard for me to take.

Apologize to my sweet heart now.
