freecocoa: I don't know about a man being ashamed for not knowing how to cook but i do know that,shame suppose catch man wey no sabi cook .

My Dad cooks very well,I remember when my mum had surgery,she was admitted in the hospital for weeks,my dad did all the cooking and he still cooks till date.

My boyfriend is another good cook but i noticed he used lots of seasoning,i helped him stop that,now his meals doesn't taste maggi maggi anymore .

Btw OP,how many cubes of Maggi did you put in the soup? Cos that's how most guys get the food to taste good,they use maggi power.

I NEVER get to use maggi. I prefer know and I don't believe in over seasoning the meal. But trust me, with the right seasoning, boiling, steaming, light frying and mixing, it comes out all perfect.

some very good ones still exist. though really few.

I got a very big surprise earlier today.

A very good friend's father called me yesterday only to instruct me to come see him unfailinly today. When I got there, I was shocked as the old man told me myself and his two sons were going to help in out in the kitchen to cook for his wife's 62nd birthday as she was expected to fly in this afternoon (she has arrived).

He specifically wanted to prepare fish stew, meat stew, fried snail sauce,banga soup, salad, jollof and fried rice as well as egusi soup.

He did the "luck deep pick" by writting in paper what the four of use were going to prepare differently, long story short,

I was lucky to have selected the fish stew and egusi soup (but had to snap the fish stew with meat stew with my friend because I hadly or never even cook fish).


After preparing dinner and we serving it to the entire household with a few fimily friends who came to the small get together.
Without announcing who prepared what, to my greatest surprise it appeared by Egusi and and meat stew got a whole lot of compliments with the egusi being the overall winner (by everyone's vote). *winks*

After much talk about the idea of men knowing how to cook and how well it could help the homefront, I was struct by the statement of an elder man of over 80years saying at his age he still enters the kitchen once a while to help his wife out and that "a man should be Ashamed rather than proud for not knowing how to cook".

Fellow nairalnders do you agree with the above statement by this elderly man? A man who grew up from the very old generation where it was believed women should do ALL domestic chores. Without the man assisting.

They will form they don't eat much, but carry them to Amala Shitta, Olaya, White house, Ghana high, First bank car park,calabar kitchen or any of those places I swear fear go catch you.

By the time they start ordering you will think she is expecting 10 of her other friends to come join her eat the food. When she finishes and almost licks the plate, you will wonder if she saw on CNN the world was going to end that day and only wanted to eat her last supper.

Guy, i won't wanna reveal too much but let me let you know i dated a student last like 7years ago.
All the ladies i have had anything to do with from then till date have all been working class and a professional.
A recent relationship with a lady 5 years older and an executive in a bank (senior management position) even got carried away once a while demanding for deliveries of pizza, flight ticket and the rest.
of course these are things she could well afford a thousand times over, but i guess she was just being a Nigerian lady.

Most girls and i mean like 95% will always demand from guys, its kinda irritating, i mean when you're with a guy and food is the first thing that comes to your mind, it makes a strong statement!

I don't think the homeboy even needed to be noticed.
Its a known fact that even in America and Europe Nigerian girls (most not all) are highly demanding.
When i traveled last to UK, a female friend who i haven't seen in over 15years said she wanted to take me round town only for me to realize she was only satisfying her needs.
Me wey come from naija na me almost feed she and her friends (one a serving senator and the other an immediate past minister's daughter)

These girls are from very comfortable backgrounds but they think demanding is just part of our culture.

With ALL honesty and truthfulness, i am not starting up this thread to diss any lady as i have promised to try not to. But sincerely why do ladies actually find it extremely difficult (except few of them)to take themselves out for a treat.

Fast food, Cinema, shopping, lounges, game houses and the rest it is mostly ladies coming with the company of men.

i grew up knowing that my parents used to give my sisters money to go out doing shopping, eatery or even window shopping to go and see want they might want. when myself and brother got upset, they always made us know they did that so that NO MAN will ever use material things to deceive them.

i Grew up loving pizza through my sisters as way back in the 90s they used to go buy pizza from Double4 in awolowo road in ikoyi and bring it home. Things like Suya, Pizza, Shawama, Hot Dog and french fries are things that my sisters made me love because my parents always gave them money to go buy or bring home for us all.

If today i meet any lady, my major turn off is when she always demands to be taken out or demand for a refund of whatever she buys to eat inside her own stomach.

The following men made their billions or billions in some casing by romancing one particular government in power or several governments.
These men either held Public office at one point or the other or were contractors who in most cases got contracts without executing them.

Most of these men have been romancing a government way before independence. Some of them were public office holders in almost every government that have come to office. Some were caught and disgraced while some weren’t. but the bottom line is we all know they got their money through corrupt means by depriving the general masses what is rightly theirs.

Smilenw: Why didn't he tell you ? If the two of you are not in good terms, and they did it on purpose, then I wouldn't ask you to go and congratulate. Would assume they didn't want your wishes/gifts and hence didn't bother to tell you. On the other hand, if everything was okay between the two families till now, I'd give them benefit of doubt and go ahead and congratulate them. Maybe they were too busy to be informing each neighbour in person.
