I'm yet to be convinced on why Dayokanu and lunatic Eko ile should be there. They shouldn't be mentioned at all.

PoliticsRe: Do You Think Nigeria Can Actually Get Better? by ACM10: 1:13am On Apr 06, 2012
vevcom media: I have been fortunate to see different countries. In nigeria, there is a common misconception that one day it will get better, one day this, one day that. I don't share that view, The truth is most people here don't even know what they are missing, they don't see the extent nigeria has become a failed state. One thing about we human beings in general is we like to hope and hope, and believe in the future, not our fault, but just the nature of man. Many people don't see how the developed counties are screwing with us everyday. Do you think our not having industries are just the fault of our leaders? Do you know the leaders are placed there by other powerful nation? There is the popular lady here from IMF, collecting awards abroad, yet people here suffer with her policies.

You also go to churches, and see people praying for nigeria, yet many fail to see that even the religious institution of us "closing eyes and praying" was brought about by the colonial masters. They on the other hand, sit and critically examine their social issues. Most of those social issues have been dumped on us. In truth it's a vicious circle, and it is almost impossible for nigeria, and many other 3rd world countries to actually get better. They need us suffering so they can enjoy a life of luxury (Someone has to do the dirty work).

Hopefully (i know, but what can i do, but hope also), one day, we will have good leaders who are strong enough to fight against their exploitation policies.
Interested in your views.
I concur with the post above.
Let me quickly add to your comment. Nigeria will not get better. As a matter of fact, Nigeria will get worse. Every nation that makes progress shares 3 things in common. They are:

1. Goals: An objective purpose towards which an endeavour is directed.

2. Target: How you to achieve your goals.

3. Indicator: Measurable pointers that signals whether you are moving in the right direction to achieve your goals.

Nigeria lacks the three. Therefore things are bound to go from bad to worse. No amount of prayer will rescue Nigeria. Nigeria needs fundamental restructuring work. We set goals everyday without appropriate targets and indicators. With every regime comes a change in policy. There is lack of continuation. There is lack of oversight. Since there is no sustenace of good policy, we are bound to rise higher on the failed state index till the whole country collapse.

Baaby: Can cramping on the left side of a uterus means ur carrying a baby boy?
Errrm, first of all, can you pls describe your symptoms in a simple, everyday term. No need to use the technical terms like "cramp". Don't bother to impress us with your knowledge of medical terms.
Second of all, how do you know the "cramp" originated from the uterus?
Finally, only ultrasound scan can tell you the sex of your baby. Even your village oracle can't predict your baby's sex.
PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Resigns As Chairman Of PDP's Board Of Trustees by ACM10: 7:19am On Apr 04, 2012
Gbawe: Abi OOO. Only a person filled with partisan and unreasonable hatred for Tinubu would ever speak as if OBJ is a better person. When, for all his fault, has Tinubu ever deliberately left power in the hands of those he 100% knows will destroy States/the Nation? OBJ's history is totally about that !!!! To me the man is the Judas that has betrayed Nigeria too many times than is possible to count over decades. Most Nigerians are just not politically sophisticated and this is why they cannot discern what OBJ really is.

He was part of the charade that saw Shagari rigged into power at the expense of Awolowo. That was the beginning of the problems of Nigeria in the modern era. The man hated and taunted Awolowo. He envied the love "Awo" enjoyed from the Yorubas that he could never dream of gaining. He simply could not bear the thought of Awolowo as President - even if that meant a prosperous and developing Nigeria. Better to let a listless and disinterested school teacher destroy Nigeria according to OBJ's egotistically warped and selfish interpretation of issues.

As a democratic President, OBJ was particularly wicked and vengeful towards the SW and I don't understand how any true Yoruba man can display the shameless revisionism we see from Djustice here - even if blindly devoted to the PDP. It was not long ago OBJ was forcing Fayose, Oni, Alao Akala, OGD and all sorts of criminals on the SW. He made a hairdresser speaker of the house of rep (Etteh) until her greed brought her down.

To ensure his name remained on the lips of Nigerians as "the best President", OBJ supported a sick man to be President knowing fully well that Yar Adua was too distracted with his illness to perform. Sheer wickedness. If it must be a Northerner, why did he not support EL-Rufai, Ribadu or others who served him well? Even if it had to be a Governor, there were northern Governors who could have moved Nigeria forward. He threw Jonathan in the mix because he was seeking a meek assistant for Yar Adua. He supported the Senate President ambition of David Mark knowing fully well the sort of elitist and anti-people blood flowing through Marks's veins.

OBJ's calulation was that if he controlled the top 4 positions (President: Yar Adua, VP: Jonathan, Senate President: Mark, Speaker: Madam Etteh)he would control Nigeria by proxy. Never mind that those listless, clueless and indolent folks, working together, were 100% guaranteed to fail Nigeria.

We could go on all day. The point is that even if Tinubu is everyone's favourite bogeyman today, folks should respect history by refraining from crass revisionism. Is it by force to rope Tinubu into everything? OBJ is a very wicked man at ease with millions suffering. Tinubu is not like that at all and nothing in his history suggests this so folks should err on the side of decency.

Besides, knowing OBJ, if indeed he has stepped down, this is his exit from a kitchen that is now getting too hot and likely to take him and others down. He did everything to become BOT chairman and one would have thought he would hold on to the role till he died. To be going voluntarily means the need for self-preservation has kicked in. OBJ won't be unaware of how he is perceived to be the "traitor" who stabbed all in the back , despite "enjoying his own 8 years on behalf of the SW", by urging GEJ forward. Sadly for OBJ, Jonathan has turned out to be an ethnic jingoist and Ijaw President of sort. The entire nation can see the sabre-rattling from the SS 24/7 over a President that is simply woeful. OBJ is just getting out of the way before the fireworks begin. The man is certainly not doing anything out of principles, ethics or morality. He has treacherously "betrayed" other "gentlemen" too much. The man knows he is surely playing with fire sticking around to be seen as abetting GEJ's 2015 ambition . If true, this is OBJ saying "Jonathan, I don try. You are on your own".
hmmm. . .another Gbawe's classic

WebmastersRe: Yoruba The Most Popular African Language On Wikipedia - Jimmy Wales Co-Founder by ACM10: 1:12am On Apr 02, 2012
Babasessy: The co-founder of Wikipedia says the languages of Yoruba in West Africa and Swahili in East Africa are the most popular among the several African languages being used on the online encyclopedia.

Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, 45, says Yoruba is the most popular African language for Wikipedia, with 29,000 pages. The Swahili Wikipedia version is second among African languages with 23,000. Other African languages on Wikipedia include Afrikaans, Hausa, and Zulu.

Speaking in Lagos this week, Wales says his website is branching out from English.

"For a long time there was this sort of cultural concern as why do we have to do everything in English. What happens to local culture? Now we [are] going to have both," said Wales.

Wales founded Wikipedia in January 2001. Eleven years later, Wikipedia has become the go-to site for hundreds of millions of internet users seeking information about anything and everything. Its content is generated by thousands of self-appointed editors who write and rewrite the articles in an open, online process.

Wikipedia on has seven active editors working in Yoruba. But Wales hopes that more users for the online encyclopedia will appear in Yoruba as well as other African languages.

“Not everybody speaks English and won't," Wales noted. "So they should have a vibrant life in their own language. And that’s really great because it’s very organic and the internet provides that in a way for very low cost.”

But challenges such as internet connectivity in Africa remain. And Wales notes that getting people to work in languages besides English is not easy. The English version of Wikipedia has nearly four million pages, far more than any other language, though several languages such as French, German, Spanish and Russian have 800,000 pages or more.

@ACM10. Thats the question i keep asking myself o. How much will one score in the post utme that would be enuf sef? I only hope that the cut off mark this year would be very reasonable otherwise we are finished.
blogger1.0:
May be in my dreams. My score is 244. And the suprising thing is that my score last year was very impressive. But this year that i had actually worked my a.ss off and expected the best results turned out to be my worst.
Whats your score?
Fortunately, UNN happens to be my alma mater. So your enquiry is well placed. There are some factors that predicts your chance of gaining admission into UNN to study Med/Surg. They are:

1. State of origin: UNN aims to reflect the federal character system. Therefore the cut-off mark for student varies across the states. Top of the ladder are the eastern states which consists of Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, while the bar is lowered for student from other states and region. So if you are from Northern or some western states; there is a high probability of gaining admission into Med/Surg if you are able reenact your JAMB feat in PUME.

2. Meritocracy: If you score 75% and above, you will certainly appear on the merit list of Med/Surg even if you are from Anambra or Imo state.

3. Nepotism: Nigeria is a very corrupt country. Therefore favouritism trumps meritocracy. You will certainly gonna get admission to Med/Surg even if you score an average of 180, so far as your "personal person"(sic) belongs to the old boys' network.

4. Deep Pocket: your money can also secure an admission for you. But I will advise against this approach. Med/Surg is an intellectually tasking course. I doubt if your money can propel you past 2nd MBBS. UNN medical school hosts some professors in pre-clinical and clinical courses that wont compromise on their principle. Beside, if one eventually scales through with his/her deep pocket, he/she will graduate as a horrible doctor.

I hope I did justice to your enquiry. undecided

smart_01: Is it possible 2 secure admission to study medicine wit such score, i mean 219,
NO and YES!
NO! 219 is a poor score for medicine. You need to score 250 and above to stand a chance.

YES! if you are highly connected. Everything is possible in Naija. But if you are nobody like me. There is still hope for you. Score 75% and above in you post-UME and you'll see how event will work out in your favour.

smart_01: no matter d post-UME Score? I'm considering change of course.
NO! It's too early to give up. Except you don't want to study medicine from the outset. Don't give up in pursuit of your dream. Winners never quit and quitters never wins! As soon as your mind tends towards defeatism; chain reaction will ensue to complete the process for you. Don't remove the option of studying med/surg, even if you opt for other related course. Attempt JAMB exam again or attain a healthy GP, which will enable to you change over to med/surg.

PoliticsRe: Who Will Win The 'ultimate Prize' If And When Nigeria Disintegrates? by ACM10: 3:12pm On Apr 01, 2012
ndu_chucks: The first intellectual exercise is to admit that the disintegration of Nigeria is impossible, whether peacefully or via war. If it is attempted via war, that war will be perpetual like what we have in Somalia with the casaulty rates similar to those of Rwanda. That will never happen here.

Peaceful separation is virtually impossible because we'll never agree on the sharing of our joint assets. The best we can hope for is some sort of managed chaos for the next 10 - 20 years.

To this end, the USA dismissed assessments that religion was the primary driver of the BH violence. The United States has already approached Nigeria to open a consulate in the flash point city of Kano.

A US consulate in Kano would give USA a presence in the north diplomatically but it would also give us an opportunity to expand development assistance activities into the north. The Nigerian government Fed & State has hitherto abandoned the masses in the North resulting in extreme poverty and lack of education. The USA is planning to help correct some of this marginalization while pressuring the Nigerian government to do the same. The Chinese are also going to chip in with these development activities. The current upgrade of the Kano international airport is in furtherance of the development objectives I am talking about.

Massive intelligence aid, military training and joint efforts, will dramatically increase to ward off increasing threats by Al Queada.

Look for sophisticated amphibian training vessels for the great Nigerian Navy operated by Nigerians with US support to deal with thieving and oil bunkering criminals who are hiding out deep in the creeks. There will be no hiding place for them given the sophisticated technologies that will be used to smoke them out.

Its a great time to be a Nigerian. Better days are on their way, secessionists will lose in the end.
Nonsense!

alj harem: Do you have any info on the prices of Innoson ?
I don't know. But I can get that for you if I observe some level of interest and seriousness in you. Besides, I wont post the prices of their vehicles here. Cause I wouldn't want to trigger the comparative analysis of the vehicles against the imported products. But from what I've observed so far, they are cheap and durable. A lot of them ply the major roads of Enugu.

Abagworo: I don't make assertions but I prefer using measurable standards. Ogun is a State and Onitsha is a town.Ogun has two towns as large as Onitsha(maybe not as populous). If you had used Abeokuta or Otta or Shagamu or Ijebu Ode,I would accept your assertion but that of comparing Onitsha to the entire Ogun is a fallacy.
Ok.
Replace Onitsha with Anambra in my comment.

Abagworo: @bolded. You had to lie just to prove a non existent point. When last I passed that road, it was not smooth between Uli and Ihiala which is roughly 3km.
I only commented as an eye witness

Abagworo: I do Assumpta to Mgbidi 20mins and another 25mins for Mgbidi to Awada.
Is Awada part of Onitsha?
