Please i have an offer for a 2007 manual yaris at 850k. Just have to refill ac gas. The car was bought brand new and company used. If there are no major faults, do you think that is a good offer? Or can I get better? Thanks
I wonder why people are always decieved that they will just refill gas.

If the AC was fine, you won't need to refill gas. There is a leak that's why there is no gas.

No body should fall for such lies.

Let me tell you one fundamental flaw in Biafra that you people don't take serious. You claim you guys have "awoof", but the north is aware that the South South is the ones who have the awoof you guys claim. There will be no Biafra without that awoof. The SS thinks they are in Biafra to finally have control over the awoof while the SE is nursing the agenda to suppress the SS.

I know for sure Viagra will end up exactly like South Sudan that turn the weapons on themselves once freedom was achieved. When Biafra is achieved it is now left for SS to point the guns at you people.

The ones I really pity is the SS because then, and only then would they realize that Nigeria was a better arrangement but it will be too late.

Lastly, the Hausa man is no fool, before letting go off Biafra, he would set it up to self destruct just like Sudan did. Watch and see.

I pray for more vision for Biafrans which I think you guys lack. I won't forget how the SE thought GEJ was unbeatable, if you guys had known, you could have done things differently. The Hausa man in the entire history of Nigeria sees more vision than any ethnic group in Nigeria that's why they dominate. Sense is cheap o, take go buy some.

If I were an Igbo I would encourage all my brothers to join APC. This action will be a political maneuvre not directly designed to unseat the north but to align with it so as to secure an Igbo president after the north. It is better to use this opportunity since the west is not in very good terms with the north.

However, the reality is that Igbos have no foresight and think only force will get them what they want. Northerners are politically sharp, you should not be fighting them with fist, beat them at their game by joining them and destroying them from the inside.

Worst is the fact that an average Northerner has no trust for an Igbo man since the Ironsi coup.

you are wrong with brick keeping heat inside the house... abeg go n read up again and come back to edit ur post.
How wrong am I?

If you never knew that walls affect temperatures inside a room, then you need to read again.

A sandcrete block wall gets very hot in the day from the inside and also cools down at night during cold temperatures of the night. This means that sandcrete blocks are thermally conductive and by convection, it affects temperatures inside the room. On a hot day, sandcrete block room will be very hot and like wise a cold day.

The clay brick is far less thermally conductive than sandcrete block. This means the outside temperature does not get inside. During heat seasons, outside is usually cooler to inside temperatures. This block will keep hot temperatures inside a room hot and cold temperature cold. The south of Nigeria is humid, I would prefer a wall that will help cool down temperature of the room at night to get a good sleep.

In cold regions of the world, they thermally insulate their walls to keep cold outside. If you do that in tropics such as Nigeria, you will end up keeping heat inside.

For middle to low income earners in Nigeria, sandcrete is the best.

That is not entirely true, you can have conduit with interlocking red bricks, everything boils down to level of expertise, the only thing is that you may need to plaster the interior.... but you can have conduit wiring and for mechanical, you can use a plumbing duct....

See pictures below...

Last picture shows where a plumbing duct was used...
I never said its impossible. My opinion is based on the fact that it alters the aesthetic beauty of the wall to achieve conduit electrical and mechanical services. Having those services on the surface is also an eyesore.

If I were to construct such a house, I would concentrate electrical and mechanical services to the floor and ceiling.

Example: all wash hand basins must have pedestals which will hide the surface pipes. Water closets would be the America style that drains to the floor. I would adopt ceiling fittings for lighting and floor sockets.

The challenges will be switches.

Laterite bricks are cheap especially with regards to materials. However, the process in making them is cumbersome and stressful. A building with this brick does not require wall rendering (plaster and screed) or paint saving a lot of costs.

Red bricks as often called are aesthetically beautiful.

The major downsides are the fact that conduit electrical and mechanical services are not supported. Secondly, in areas where you need wall tiles such as kitchen and bathrooms, it will be difficult to achieve because of the smooth nature of the red brick wall. The bond of tiles to wall may not be strong if not done well and can easily fail. Thirdly, these projects are planned for humid areas of Nigeria, Red brinks are very bad conductors so would serve as thermal insulation keeping a lot of heat and humidity inside the house. This house will be more uncomfortable to live in without AC.

2 reasons.

One, Nigerians are respectfull so are afraid to interrupt a stranger by using the right word which is "excuse me". Eg Excuse me, may I know the time. Most Nigerians will find it disrespectful usually by misunderstanding the right word. Sorry will sound more respectful and more acceptable to most.

Secondly, a lot of Nigerians are already pissed so apologizing before interrupting then will help to calm them down.

Once met a guy who had not changed his engine oil in eight (cool months. The oil had become thick it was churning into grease. The guy was lucky the engine was still alive. And to think he uses the car for Uber.

Another guy told me he only changes his oil twice a year, a month later engine knocked.

Be good to your car and it will serve you well. My uncle used his Volkswagen Santana for 23 years. We had to sell it after he died not because it was bad bad, we knew we won't be able to maintain it like he did.
Maintaining a car by changing engine oil is very good maintenance habit but a very very bad habit for the environment.

Do you know that used engine oil has no biodegradable way to dispose it off. It has absolutely no use again except to contaminate the soil, kill plants and contaminate underground water. Burning it is damaging the atmosphere from Carbon monoxide to NOX gasses.

Less service period is more used engine and more environmental damage. Say an individual uses 20L of lube oil a year which is 5L every 4months, it becomes 30L in a year if you decide to service your vehicle every 2 months. 10L of more destruction to your planet for no reason especially if the recommended service period is not reach.

It is advisable to use your oil to the recommended service period, any less is doing more damage to the environment. I encourage drivers to service less.

I know a transport company that changes oil for every cross country return trip of their vehicles. Very good for the car but very bad for the environment.

Used oil is considered the largest source of oil pollution in the U.S. harbor and waterways, at 385 million gallons per year, mostly from improper disposal.[29] By far, the greatest cause of motor oil pollution in our oceans comes from drains and urban street runoff, much of which is from improper disposal of engine oil.[30] One gallon of used oil can create an eight-acre slick on surface water, threatening fish, waterfowl and other aquatic life. SAVEDBABA:
its like saying you prefer your car to drive you not you driving the car, just saying though maybe this another of driving.
How can a car drive it's driver, does that make sense to you?

However, it is true that the car changes the gear intelligently on my behalf with no input from me except for me using the accelerator.

Let me tell you where autos become better. While auto changes gear in milliseconds, a very experienced driver on a manual car will use more time to do the same action a computer/machine will do it. Secondly, the act of clutching means you will lose all form of torque while during change of gear with a manual but with auto, you don't lose all the torque which is a seamless transfer of gears. An auto will gain milliseconds a manual will lose during change.

Putting the 2 factors together becomes so much loss of speed that the auto gains an advantage that's why Racing cars have since left the fully manual option adopting a semi automatic trans which combines best of both worlds. Technically, a car with adjustable d1, d2 through D4 or 5 can still be semi automatic.
Car Talk › Re: Expired Temporary Drivers License by adanny01(m): 10:36am On Apr 20, 2017
bravolad:
I had the expired temporary license for more than 8 months & drove from Lagos to Abuja with the same license on several occasions. In Abuja, the expired temporary license will not be extended; no officer will sign any document for you.

However, the practice seems different in Lagos as VIO is said to extend it after the initial expiration.

Within my period of usingredients the expired temporary license, I had series of encounter with the NPF enroute Lagos to Abuja. In one of the encounters, I was delayed for more than 3 hours in Lagos because the police wanted me to part with some money which I was not ready to do. They clearly understood that the issuance of the substantive license was a delay from VIO & FRSC and therefore had nothing to do with me. Despite the delay, I stood my ground and clearly told them that I was ready to go any length with them. I also noticed they were reluctant to take me to their station even when I insisted following their threat of taking me to station.

After more than 3 hours, they handed back the expired temporary license to me & asked me to go.

In the same vein, once they observe that you fidgeting and are in a hurry, you have become a veritable tool for extortion. So my advise is that you should not be scared and always let them know that when your license is ready, VIO/FRSC will issue it out.
I never give police any original document.

They can hold me there because i am afraid they will shoot if i take off but not on account that my original document is with them. I only show FRSC/VIO my original DL. These ones will impound the car if there is an infraction with no original document to sieze.

U have to shift down to use engine braking to slow vehicle down. The same thing is possible with automatics, all u have to do is shift down.
In fact in auto you don't need to manually shift down, it does once you touch brakes especially going downhill.
Car Talk › Re: 5 Amazing Advantages Of Manual Transmission Vehicles You Never Knew by adanny01(m): 6:01am On Apr 20, 2017
ItsMeAboki:
The article clearly stated this reason for the difference:

Manual transmission vehicles do not have a torque converter. For this reason, manual transmission drivers are able to use the momentum of the engine to slow the vehicle down and brake more easily.
If it is engine braking you are referring to, it's also available in auto. Older cars may not be efficient in engine brKing but newer cars are even more effective than the manual. Once you hit a down slope, and hit the brakes. The gear automatically downshifts giving you more engine braking and will keep downshifting appropriately while deccelarating.

While on cruise control, auto does engine braking far better than manual since manual cannot shift itself.

Torque converter in auto does not stop autos from engine braking.

if you love driving, speeding, racing then nothing concerns you with auto. with manual gearbox you are in charge of the vehicle @ all times.
Not true. When you have an underpowered car and you like speed, manual is only better then.

Auto shifts faster than manual plus seamless change losing little power during shift than manual.

Wanted to do some body work and painting. Gave the car to the panel beater who worked on it on Friday and Saturday.

After the Saturday work, the panel beater wanted to return the car to my compound and in the process, the key got stuck in the ignition.

A rewire was called and after trying several things, he was able to remove the key. However, the car is not starting again despite the fact that all functions/ signs are coming up from the dashboard. The car is just rolling but not starting as if the security is active.

The rewire had to remove the ignition and take it to people that reset keys. after resetting, the problem still persist. The car is not starting.

Another person was called with diagnistic machine but after plugging it in, he said the machine is not communicating with the car.

They are planning to remove the brain box and ignition so as to reset the car from another Honda EOD Car.

Please what can be the problem? Also, should I allow them to remove the brain box.

Your urgent response will be appreciated
Sounds like an immobilizer issue. There is a green key light that comes on then off when the key is inserted. Does it flash continuesly or stays on or comes on and go off?

Car Talk › Re: Why Is Rebuilding Honda Engines Difficult by adanny01(m): 11:29am On Apr 18, 2017
ironheart:
The issue with nigerian rebuild has nothing to do with substandard parts. When a nigerian man fails woefully, he start blaming parts for his lack of knowledge and inadequate tools. Most mechanic do not have standard tools. How many of them knows how to use callipers and vernier guages? They just remove ring and put a new one without reglazing the bore.

Honestly, we need a lot to learn

A workshop should have at least this 12 tools

Tapered Ring Compressor

Piston Ring Squaring Tool

Piston Ring Filer

Crankshaft Socket

Engine Brushes

Harmonic Damper Installation Tool

Degree Wheel

Dial Bore Gauge

Pushrod Length Checker

Oil Pump Primer

Valve Spring Height Micrometer

Engine Storage Cradle
I think you made an important point. If you were to do everything right but used substandard parts, where will that take you?

Your point should have been an addition not a substitution. I still think a successful rebuild is more dependent on quality of parts than tools.

Believe me or not, the average kazeem knows whether a cylinder bore is worn or not without using any tool.

How to test a new memory card.

Just gather all the big sized movies you can get and send them to your mcard till it is full and says insufficient space.

Open the movies from the mcard. All the ones that don't play are automatically the space that is not available on the device. Sum them up and subtract from the total mcard size.

For example, if you bought 16gb mcard and transfered 15gb movies into the card, if only 7gb of movies play and the rest becomes corrupt, it means you have a fake 8gb card formatted to display 16gb.
