Atouke:
I disagree with your assessment. You probably havent been at the beach recently. be truthful and tell us, when was the last time you visited the beach? the road from eket to Ibeno and etinan to eket a federal road that had been abandoned for ages, Has currently been taken over by the state government and dualization of that road is ongoing by CCECC as we speak.
And can you expatiate on how the community has hindered the beach development? did you legally try to setup a business there or know someone that had the desire but was turned down? dont deal on cliches, support your statement with fact/evidence.
Afo, i have not been to the beach in 3 months but have been to Eket, Etinan, Abak, Ikot Abasi, Ikot Ekpene and Itu every other week up till 2weeks ago when i took annual leave. CCECC have been working on Etinan-Eket rd since last year, have they been working on Eket-Ibeno rd? Probably in the past 3months, can the road be now considered as good? I did mention my knowledge of the fact that it was awarded. You and i know there is no govt presence in that beach, atleast cleaners not to talk of infrastructures. With a beautiful beach like that, why is it that the closest reasonable hotel is still far away in Eket? Why are there no recreational facilities except for drinking, suya and food stalls that function mostly on Sundays only?

I am privy to a contract by FG in Eket to the tune of N2Billion, after govt had spent over 1billon the project was cancelled because the bill for compensation was over 3 times the cost of the project at over N6Billion. Who is the real loser?

I once hosted a Minister to a project site, while responding to the Minister's inquiry on our challenges, i mentioned as the sole challenge, the communities. You need to see what happened to me, the NTA camera man was 1st of all ordered to turn off his camera, before the Minister and his aids descended on me and forbade me ever to mention communities as a challenge. The reason for the story is my lack of understanding why you people are so quick to defend actions of communities that inhibit develolment? If you have no idea what is obtainable in other places in Nigeria in contrast to your state or region, you need to keep quiet. I have first hand experience.

If you want facts, you are not getting from me cause i have no reason to give and I have no reason to lie either.

Yes, its true what most people have said about Ibeno beach. It is at most times dirty, the road leading to the beach (a federal road) is very bad and is only lively on Sundays. The local community seem but be a stumbling block to necessary development by private sector even as government does not have an interest in the beach development. I hear rehabilitation contract has been awarded by the FG.

Its still a nice place to be on sundays if you are an outdoor type, like me. See my wet feet on one of my visits below.

I personally prefer it to that semi synthetic you find online (check my posts on engine oil to find out why)
It makes no economic sense to buy synthetic 5w30 @ 10k while there is a synthetic blend 5w30 @6k.

I am not surprised by Tambuwal's Defection, infact, I pity him. Going by all political antecedence, all prior members of PDP who defect from PDP almost always come back to PDP begging to be reintegrated. (Use Nuhu Ribadu, Tom Ikimi as case studies).

Tambuwal's defection is selfish, he is a small player. He has always been a square peg in the round hole. His intention is to contest the Governorship election in Sokoto State. He has no impact on PDP whatsoever neither is he relevant in PDP's scheme to defeat APC in 2015.

There is no tear on the armor plate, and the ripple created by his defection is just a storm in PDP's Tea Cup. Tambuwal, by mere look at his face, is a dazed caricature of Ajax Bukana.

Let me also add, that defection of PDP bigshots into APC shouldnt been seen as respect for APC by these parastic/selfish ex-PDP members, these goons are just using APC as platform to achieve selfish aims, just as they would have joined Olumba Olumba Obu sect to achieve an aim, it the sect was to guarantee them success in selfish contest. They cant simply realize their aim under the great PDP, where they are too many bright and shiny options which negates them to nobodies. Once they get what they want, they will get back to PDP (Mimiko as case study). APC is to Nigeria's Politicosphere, what Toilet Tissue paper is to Billyonaire - Use once, and flush with the s/hit.

This is my Technical Knockout.

Time and Time again, politicians of Northern extraction have shown themselves to be disloyal to the principles of one Nigeria. First it was Sanusi and now Tambuwal.

I can't help but look back at the many years of Northern leadership of our great nation Nigeria and the decorum with which Nigerians of all works of life, religion and tribe rallied under the banner of one Nigeria.

Politics is not entirely a game of power but unity, the unity that was hard won by the likes of Nnamdi Azikiwe and Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, may their soul rest in perfect peace.

If Northern politicians continue to show distaste and intolerance to other Nigerians in authority, then even if by a miracle APC wins an election which is highly unlikely, there will be no one Nigeria treasury to loot.

A House divided against itself cannot stand.
Are you saying that there should be no opposition? Every Nigerian should just forget the elections since GEJ is already president and should go ahead till 2015?

I want you to think very well on how or why the Northerners supported Obj and not GEJ. Why the so much political heat and cross-carpeting in GEJ's tenure and not OBJ's. Why the constant and counter accusations? Dont tell me that its hate or envy.

I believe that all answers are right before you but you choose to ignore or you dont want to accept things as they really are.

I wont leave without saying that i saw this coming immediatly after GEJ was elected.

Lol grin grin grin

Sorry for that, i was actually laughing out loud.

I dont think changing shock absorbers will have any effect on the radio issues. You lense may simply be dirty or weak. You will need an experienced car radio mechanic not just any but a good one. Thats because prying the dash board inappropriately will leave permanent marks on it which is always an unpleasant sight and an irrepairable damage.

Just clean you lense bro, if it doesnt improve, change the lense. Dont forget to go with ur radio and sat codes.

Any possible solution?

I Thank all of you for your contributions, but still I want you guys to show more light on Sienna fuel Consumption by giving me examples.
Like if you are to buy N2000 fuel for Picnic from Lagos to Ibadan, for Sienna is LIKE THIS

if Picnic consumed 5 ltr from here to here while Sienna will consumed so so so ltrs that kind of example that's what I wanted
Picnic will do 21mpg city and 34mpg highway while sienna will do 18mpg city and 24mpg highway. That means for normal driving within a township with traffic which means alot of stop and go, picnic may travel 8.93kilometers per every litre you have while siena may do 8.08kilometers. If you wish to travel 50km, picnic will use about 6.02litres while sienna will use 6.2litres. Diffrence is in fuel cost will actually be less than N20!

The main difference comes in the highway with picnic doing 14.5kpl and sienna 10.2kpl. After 50km, picnic will use 3.4litres while sienna 4.9litres. Their difference after 50km is 1.5litre or about N150. After 200km difference is N600. The N600 is the price you pay for a far better driving power with the sienna's 3.0l engine, minimal loss of power driving with a/c and overall more comfort.

Dont forget, if you can maintain the picnic, you will certainly be able to do the sienna. The diffrence in cost will be higher on some few parts.

Hi all, I need healthy advice from someone here.

My car runs fine without any issues at all except that anytime my car slows down or stops and I try to move again while turning my steering it suddenly feels very stiff. I mean it works freely only when I'm in motion.

My mech said it's my steering BOX, I asked him if it was the pump buy he said no. He told me that if he works in it and it's still faulty then I should keep 23k to change the whole power steering apparatus (I've forgotten what he called it). Also my radio comes on or off whenever it feels like, I mean it may be on when I switch the car on but after moving a little distance it goes off automatically never to come on again till I restart my engine (and it's not every time I restart the car that it comes back on again). My mech said he will wire it directly to the car's battery and remove it from the ignition, is this wise?

I don't use coolant, I feel I should but I don't know the right type to buy or the way I should put it in my radiator or the amount I should use.

I drive an accord 2004 i4

Thanks
I am 90% or even greater sure that your steering pump has failed problaby by dirt in the system. A very good expert steering mechanic will de-assemble the pump and possibly rekit, wash the reservour, drain the entire power steering fluid, replace the oil and bleed the system. This will solve if as long as the is no leakage on the steering rack, even that will not cause the system to loose pressure totally else all the fuild will go out from the leak point. The usual cause of failure is when bad seals from the pump allow the pump to suck air which will cause a loss in pressure and if used in that condition for some time, the pump will go bad.

I drive a 2003 accord and my radio does that too but mine comes right back and may do that 1-5times most times just after starting the car. It goes off and on after some secs or sometimes goes on standby which i have to press power button to start it. In, my case, the clock goes off but comes back with the same time and the CD that was playing restarts from tract 1 while the power port never goes off as long as ignition is on. I will searce for a solution to that.

Guys thanks for all the help. u

Yesterday I started the car in the morning allowed it to idle for a while till the guage reached the middle mark but the fan did not come on. After a while i just drove the car like that (was a hot afternoon). When I Came back like 2 hours later I parked the car, switched off the ac and allowed it to idle. I touched the 2 hoses of the radiator and they were both hot so i guess that ruled out that my thermostat had failed close. As i was standing by the bonnet for a while the fan just came on, worked for some seconds then when off, after a while the fan came on again. It turns out that my fan was actual working, I just needed more patience.
I guess I've learnt some things too. I'll buy a thermostat and keep for when the need arises.

Thanks for all the help guys, I appreciate.
It will certainly not come on in the morning unless you drive. Thats because there is no load on the engine to cause it to heat beyond the set thermostat temp. The only reason the temperature even got that far to the middle is because of the thermostat.

1. Refineries built under OBJ government is an achievement of GMB just because he was the head of NNPC, Not OBJ the head of the government. OBJ never get the credit for the refineries

2. Missing / unaccounted (pick your side) $50b, $20b, $12b (choose any) of the same NNPC is a failure of GEJ because he is the head of the Government.

Please, who is responsible for the success or failure of NNPC? the head of NNPC or the head of Government??

Glad that Itoroetti has put those lies that Buhari built 2 refineries in 20 months to bed... come up with another lies because this didn't sell

Before you ask what refinery PDP have done, remember that OBJ is still a card carrying member of PDP grin grin grin tongue tongue
Just like sports, government is a team. A coach or president doesnot take all the credit, it is shared.

We might not say the same thing of failure, if a team member disobey's the coach causing the team a loss, that single player takes the blame not the coach. Same in government, if a minister fails, the minister only is responsible but the president must admit the minister's failure and saction him/her else the president shares in the blame. The reason GEJ shares blame of his ministers is that he protects them when they fail.

If a boy steals and a mob is chasing him and he runs to his father to seek refuge, if the father tries to sheild his son from the mob, both will be lynched. After all, a successful child brings admiration to the family but the failure brings scorn and is usually disowned.

The problem of GEJ is that he does not disowns his corrupt ministers or aids, he simply protects them and takes thier blame since he is untouchable. In real sense, even though GEJ is seen as corrupt, he personally cannot be proven to be but he has embraced corrupt people thereby leaving the stench of corruption on himself. He has succesfully taken responsibility of the corruption of his appointees. The Bible says (paraphrasing) if any part of your body will cause you to sin, remove it so that the rest of the body will remain clean. Matt 18:8

The picnic and the Sienna can not be compared in terms of cost of maintenance and fuel economy. The Toyota Sienna is a 3.3l V6 engine while the picnic has a 1,998cc inline 4-cylinder engine. So they are miles apart.

However, having said that, both vehicles are very reliable and durable. Note that statistically, the picnic is one of the cheapest MPVs. The parts are cheap and available as well as mechanics. I have driven the picnic once in the UK from Buckley where I purchased to London on just £20 about (N5000) fuel then. I did not take note of the total mileage for the journey as it was less of a concern to me. The journey was more than 7 hours because I missed my way on several occasions. I still had enough fuel after it arrived Nigeria.

The picnic is a 5 passenger MPV while Sienna is a 7-8 passenger van. Although, 3 passengers can sit at the back of the picnic, but it would be very tight and uncomfortable. The picnic also has a diesel variant.

The choice is yours depending on your purpose of purchase.
Both have the same seating arrangement except that the siena could comfortably sit 3 at the 3rd row while it will not be convenient in the picnic. Both are officially 7 seaters while there are two seating types of the siena at the middle row with one having 2seat 'captain chairs' and the other the 2seater bench.

The choice is like comparing camry to corolla. The difference is size and weight. The price difference is not far apart but cost of maintenance is sligthly higer in the siena and thag is expected.

Alternatively, he should sit in the drivers seat with door open and legs outside while the car is idling. Even if he doesnot hear it the rush of heat will be blown to his feet and he will certainly feel it.

If the temperature guage never went beyond half mark, then am 99% sure the fan is working well only when required which most times doesnt last up to 30secs.

Complete lower arm 100k, wow, i rather order the oem part myself than pay that huge sum only for them to install a china replica worth 15k or less. That arm consist of 3 bushings and replaceable at not more than 15k both. You only need the complete arm if its bent or damaged from an accident. The ball joint is the point of concern which you must be weary of fakes that could pull off or break. Thats why i go for tokumbo instead.

Disc resurfacing should not be up to 8k.

The Refinery project was completed and the Fuels Plant was commissioned in 1980. However the Lubes Plant was commissioned in 1983 and Petrochemical Plant much later in 1988. The initial operation and maintenance was carried out by Nigerian Staff and expatriate personnel as technical back up. By 1985, Nigerian staff had virtually taken over all the maintenance and operations.

However, Buhari was the Federal Commisioner on petroleum and Natural resources and Chairman NNPC 1976-78 during which the construction of the Kaduna and Warri refinaries was in progress. So, you have to acknowledge his contribution else you will also say GEJ has no contribution to the power reforms currently in the country since OBJ was the one who concieved and awarded, mobilised all the projects.

when i press the throttle, i see the blue smoke... ( note the car doesnt smoke unless i ref).
Probably valve stem seals or early warning signs of degraded or bad oil rings.

Bad valve stem seals cause the bluish smoke in the mornings which may disappear or reduce when the engine heats up.

Oil rings is fairly constant with respect to the bluish smoke, usually increasing in intensity as the engine is revved up and may leave some traces of engine oil in your exhaust pipe.

A good mechanic should be able to diagnose precisely.

Little research I've don't on the Internet suggest that is the Engine Coolant Temperature ECT sensor thats probably bad.

Anyone here who has experienced similar problem
Please help.
After driving round on hot day, stop and turn off A/C leave the car to idle for 10 mins, if the fan does not come on atleast once then there is a problem.

While driving you will not know it it came on or not. Only a few times does mine come on while driving less than 20km/hr which i notice it, usually it stays in for like 10-15secs and go off.

If your temperature guage never goes beyond its usual position, i doubt if there is a problem. If the fan wasnt coming on, your car will definately over heat especially right after you accelerate.

I have had a blown fuse of the A/C fan blower which shares the same fuse with the radiator fans, my car over heated right after i accelerated. The car over heated within 2mins of that acceleration.

The ignition problem perfectly fits the description of your jerking. DONT TOUCH THAT FUEL PUMP! The filter can be cleaned for dirt and water.

A good mechanic will first of all pull up the coil packs one by one while engine is running to hear difference in identifying which cylinder isnt burning well. Then remove all the plugs in their order to see the carbon deposit colour. He should be able to identify a difference. If he identifies one, he should swap coil pack with another cylinder and test again if the problem will move to the new cylinder with the moved coil pack. By now a good mechanic will have an idea whats wrong.

If hes not sure, one last test.
Remove all plugs.
Plug them to respective coil packs with harness connected.
Place the plugs in their order making ground contact with engine top.
Disconnect harness of all injectors.
Crank engine while looking at differences in spark and the timing. 1/4 and 2/3 should be the spark timing and should be exact .

You can imagine my relief!! If you find your recommended weight in dino, use it, unless your manufacturer specified synt. Not my opinion, but fact. Also look at the API spec.
How much was it and where did you get it.

Cost matters alot in the choice of oil.

DrMalik:
Adanny, it is not filariasis. It has a strange name, Aquagenic pruritus (if I remember correctly ). Unfortunately, we don't really understand the cause or treatment very well.

Use warm water. Use softer sponge. Dry body immediately and well. Use fan or AC. Use medications like Loratidine, add Prednisolone, and anti-itching cream (It works for some). Distract yourself. Be positive.

2) You can't just make a diagnosis like that! See a doctor physically. He will ask questions, examine you, and run some tests.
Thank you so much.

Forgive me for sounding like i have concluded on a diagnosis with respect to the Irritable bowel syndrome. I was reading on the internet one time when i stumbled on it, i checked the symptoms and i looked just like mine except for one. I mentioned it in an attempt to describe my symptoms.

I have been tested positive for hookworm long ago so i always take a dewarmer minimum of 3months interval.
