barcanista: You are not smart due. "Gentleman agreement" such as this violates the fundamental right of the incumbent and is in contrary to the constitution. It is not LEGALLY binding on anyone and will be THROWN out by the court without delay.
www.nairaland.com/attachments/1679413_10599471_761192967251149_6808398605043627909_n_jpegcf1c8760fd3d8fff29dae2a3eb639145
Its obvious that you are the one who is not smart. 'Gentleman's agreement' is not made to be legally admissible in a court of law, it is what it is, a 'Gentleman's agreement'. It cannot violate anyone's fundamental right or be contrary to the constitution. Its just a matter of integrity!

A gentlemen's agreement (or gentleman's agreement) is an informal and legally non-binding agreement between two or more parties. It is typically oral, though it may be written, or simply understood as part of an unspoken agreement by convention or through mutually beneficial etiquette. The essence of a gentlemen's agreement is that it relies upon the honor of the parties for its fulfillment, rather than being in any way enforceable. It is, therefore, distinct from a legal agreement or contract, which can be enforced if necessary.

Unfortunately for you, that is not the case, you need to read well and understand.

PDP agreed that contestants for this election (only six months tenure before general elections) are not going to contest for 2015-2019 tenure. Ribadu has opted to vie for the full tenure which elections will hold next year. He chose not to be 'penny wise pound foolish'.

Sibrah: Service My Small Generator. It is the popular I-better-pass-my-Neighbor. I heard it uses Oil + Petrol in its tank and that it has no oil-only compartment. How true?
Yes it uses oil mixed in petrol. The oil serves its usual function of lubrication and without the oil the generator will definately overheat. The mix ratio is 1:50.

You can perform limited service if you are handy and is good at DIY. I am good at DIY and know my limits well so i can perform basic service. I am also able to know when to do it myself and when to take it to the mechanic.

That generator is very useful. During heat season, i use it to sleep with fan by leaving it overnight and to watch tv and charge phones in the daytime during power failures. Its pocket friendly too. I only use the 2kv gen for fridge when we have something in it that is getting compromised because of power failure. Also when there are visitors and there is need for more lighting or an emergency pressing of cloth for immediate wear.

OperaMini1: My '03 EOD steering moves to the left while on motion. I took it to the mechanic, he checked the tie-rods and ball joints, and said they are ok, what then could be wrong?
Its possible you have a steering problem, thats when you have excessive play on your steering.

With engine off your steering should not move more than inch. In a quiet place shake you steering vigourously and hear for gaps. The steering pinion and universal joint can cause excessive play.
Health › Re: Doctor in the House: Free Medical Advice Available by adanny01(m): 9:58am On Sep 03, 2014
I am going to download all my health issues here for possible solution and advise.

1. I experience some few minutes of prickly kind of itching after taking bath with cold or luke warm water. My bath water has to be comfortably hot else i get itchy. The itching bout starts from 1-2min after bath and last up to five minutes. Rubbing cream and wearing cloths, jumping into bed and covering myself with duvet cover seem to help reduce the itching. AC or fan helps too. I guess it stops when my skin starts drying.

I do experience the prickly itching on cold wet days with out even taking a bath and gets worst with a bath or if i use rain water. A skin sample was taken from my back and tested for filariasis but came back negative.

I also get itchy on my torso sometimes when i sweat. This problem has been affecting my 2yr son who pulls off his shirt crying after he takes warm beverage(bornvita) or even normal food or when he sweats from normal play. We will always help him scratch his back for a minute or 2 while he cools down.

2. I have read about irritable bowel syndrome. I think i have it. No week passes without me having an episode of frequent toilet visits sometimes 3 times within a hr. Most times in the morning. It sure will happen when i eat pepperish food the previous day. Am typing from the toilet and this is the 4th toilet visit this morning the first was at 6am.

3. My family has a history of Arthritis. I have read about oesteo arthritis which i think i am beginning to have on one of my knees. I am 33, 1.75m tall and weigh 105kg, i am still very active since i do things people feel i will not be able to for a big guy. I dont work out at all. My right knee hurts intensely when i sit on those interstate buses for hrs journey or anytime i squat. The knee problem became obvious and intensified during NYSC camp some yrs ago when i had to do frog jumps. I now travel with NSAID Ibuprofen in my baggage, its been helpful.

How can i treat these problems please.
Politics › Re: What Manner Of An Opposition Party Is APC? by adanny01(m): 7:54pm On Sep 02, 2014
Reference: I disagree with you. Opposition, no matter how vocal but non incitive, non physical and non violent is not only legitimate but desirable. I think it is because we have run a one party state for too long. In say fifty years time when both parties will have settled down and tasted power in equal measure, succeeding and failing in equal terms along the way, then I'm sure your view will change.

The PDP like I continue to emphasize should begin to prepare for life in opposition, it should begin to learn how to criticise and throw its own brick-bats and tantrums both real and perceived. Its style of 'big man, take it easy politics' cannot go on forever. It has barely been able to regain any state it lost to the APC or even dreamt of unseating any old ACN/CPC > APC stronghold based on 'political capital' it gained as a result of any APC state controlled failures. And this is simply because it has been too naive and lazy to try. Perhaps if it was doing the 'assaulting' the APC will have been doing the defense. But a timid attempt at the Oshiomhole 'Go and Die' gaffe is the best I can remember the PDP mustered in ten years of reasonable opposition.

But I also think and hope the PDP will learn quickly when power is eventually lost at the centre. What will become of the party is another matter for it has little ideology or thinks of forming any. The PDP has no real back bone. As an institution years of turbulence has left it weak internally and it may just crumble leaving us with yet another one-party state and then the problem turns full circle.

PDP should stop whinning and do what political parties the world over do. Fight to get there, fight to stay there.
This is an opinion i will support. PDP has been looking at governance like a birthright. They need to lose and become the opposition atleast once so they could sit up and actually be the servants of the people. Next time they will not just distribute rice and N1k for votes but will actually work and compete for it just like they do in advanced democracies around the world.

As it is now, PDP has no idea what it will be like as an opposition.
Politics › Re: What Manner Of An Opposition Party Is APC? by adanny01(m):
maestroferddi: Am I the one not making sense or is it you that have obviously allowed narrow-mindedness, parochial considerations and tunnel vision to preclude you from thinking out of the box?

So APC can only model good leadership and democratic principles solely when it captures power at the center?

What exactly do understand by leadership?

You appear to forget that there are many opportunities to demonstrate democracy and good leadership like in intra-party affairs and sundry areas.

What of the states under the purview of APC? Have they all covered themselves in the glory of performance?

Why not take out time to reflect on my submissions? Why hit the keypad without addressing salient questions raised?

The burning question for which I am looking for answers is why the desperation within APC to seize power at all costs? Is it not axiomatic that people are known bungle things when they are desperate/hasty?

Good strategists are known to factor in time considerations prior to the evolution of the desired end product.
The reason i said i see no sense in all you have said is because inspite of the fact that you think you have a point, there is none to see.

Just as you see APC to be desperate for power, i see PDP as desperate to keep it.

I had to go back to your opening post, all i saw are personal opinions and questions. Thats why i have not seen a point in all you have said. If you say APC is deaperate, thats just your personal opinion. If you say APC is desperate and go ahead to cite a comment or an action of the party that supports your opinion, only then do you have a point. So far, you have made no point but have given so many personal opinions that didnt make sense, until you make a point by given reasons for your opinion.

maestroferddi: I am personally astounded by the developments in this country. The degree of bitterness and intolerance are getting pretty worrisome.

Granted, the government in power has a lot to do to meet the expectation of the electorates that voted it into power. But then we have to draw a line between a constructive opposition and sheer unreasonableness.

In other climes, opposition elements make their mark by complementing the party in power. In other words, they, as a watchdog of government, provide constructive opposition. They praise the government when it makes positive progress and provide constructive criticism when the government falls out of line. Praise is not something that a government should solicit for because the very positive progress that praise may be given is an obligation. An obligation requires no praise, why should APC praise PDP on the matter that is PDP's obligation? Delivering good governance is PDP's obligation not APC's.

From the foregoing, the opposition duly earn their respect and recognition.
Infact, the opposition conduct themselves as a credible alternative. Put in another way, the opposition demonstrate, by their action, that they be could entrusted to form a broad-based government without jeopardising the common good.

The case of Nigeria is pathetically unfortunate. We have a situation where the major opposition party practically see nothing good in whatever the government does.It is as if the main opposition party viz APC is pre-set willy-nilly to denigrate and disparage all actions of government.

I am constrained to ask whether this tendency is purely an African thing; where you must denigrate and malign your counterpart even when doi so is at the detriment of the common good...

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria's main opposition party, I believe, has not covered itself in that much glory over the past few days. One would have expected some level of appreciation and commendation for the growing democratic culture in Nigeria as witnessed by the free and fair elections in some states in the past few months. Has APC complained that elections were not free or fair? APC has complained of the new trend of over-militarizing elections and the harrasment of opposition leaders with the increase of faceless security agents. You seem to be asking for a sort of commendation to be given to PDP by APC for free and fair elections, but you seem to forget that it is a mandate for PDP to conduct free and fair elections.

Instead, all one hears are a cacophony of discordant voices.
Now, I am beginning to comprehend why Julius Nyerere asserted that African culture abhors opposition...
After all, ask yourself, has PDP done their best. If yes, has Nigeria improved so much that you think PDP or the government can now relax and demand for praise. If no, in what areas do you think PDP hasnt done well, would you tell them? You will end up criticising the government yourself just like the APC does unless you choose to be sentimental and continue supporting a mediocre non performing government.

Face the truth, there is alot to be done, am not satisfied with the current government, APC needs to tell them and push them till they do it well.

maestroferddi: You demonstrate how by ensuring that all your conduct are beyond reproach or above board.

You can't be preaching democracy when you cannot guarantee something as basic as internal democracy within your ranks.

You show how by eschewing godfatherism and big-man syndrome that are causing disaffection and defection among your members.

You lead by example by using the states under your purview as pilot cases of how you would perform on the big stage.

You make you spoint by discarding the shackles of primordial sentiments.

You popularise your appeal by building goodwill among Nigerians by extending hands of fellowship across ethnic and religious cleavages.

Indeed, there are many ways you can show how..
You are still not making sense especially that everything you are talking about is exactly what PDP is. You are not being constructive in your criticism of APC. PDP is equally bad, if not more than APC.

You say APC should lead by example, who is leading between APC and PDP. PDP today are leaders of Nigeria, who will APC lead, themselves?

What you are expecting of APC, you will never get from any opposition in anywhere in the world. You cant make demanda of the opposition but you can make demands from the leading or ruling party. APC is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, most of the negative view APC has was created by PDP to eliminate the only threat to their position. All of the allegations against APC are unfounded and in sone cases ridiculous.

Look at this link below 'Ebola: PDP accuses Amaechi of insensitivity'. Isnt it ridiculous?

Let's rise above pecuniary interest and begin to view things from a dispassionate perspective.

If you think you are better than the PDP, then demonstrably show how...
I am surprised the way you look at things that are so obvious. How do you expect APC to 'demonstrably show how' without control of the government. Who is a Doctor without a patient or who is a politician without government? What is the job of an opposition without criticism? How can they show how without criticism?

I guess you want APC to campaign for PDP just like Obiagelli thought!

The only thing that keeps me a little awake is tea with no milk or sugar.

Ikenna351: Honestly, I only wanted to find out why most Nigerians choose to live the life of Dogma.

I was listening to Earl Nightingale yesterday and learnt a lot from him. Men these days prefer others to think for them.

It's all about asking the right questions from the right people. You don't ask someone who failed in something how to do the something he failed you are interested in. All my Lions have been V6. Members here who have met me will tell you I am not loaded yet. Why not ask me how I have owned 3 V6s and have never opened up the engines of any of them? How come I could own these V6s, run and keep them in good shape with the little that comes in monthly? How come I have never complained these cars drying my savings or income?

If you are interested in Camry V6, find out from those who are using similar car for and not complaining " the pros and cons" they have experienced in the ownerships of those Camry V6s. There must be pros and cons. Then compare it to the pros and cons of your I4 you are currently driving and want to upgrade.

V6 engine is just an engine with 2 extra cylinders, more valves, 2 cylinder banks and different engine shape. Any mechanic that does not see it that way, then he shouldn't be your mechanic, let alone touch your bonnet.

Ikenna
Most things in life have pros and cons.

2 cons of the v6 that scares away most people are lack or working space and more expensive replacement parts.

Dont shout when i said more expensive. For example the gear box of a honda I4 and V6 are different with V6 costing more to replace and even the labour for replacement cost more. There are some supension parts that are different, in those cases the replacement parts for the V6 are more expensive.

In general, it is more expensive to maintain a V6.

bimbor: I drove from Ibadan to Kaduna with just one full tank of fuel with my Toyota Canmry 2008 XLE I got through Nairaland. Before while I was using 2007 Honda Accord I used to cover the same distance with 2 Full tanks.
I also use Semi-Synthetic Oil Milemaster 5w-20 in the engine. No car is as fuel efficient as Toyota.

My brother go and buy the car this morning.
Its either you exagerated on the honda or your car had a major fault.

Ibadan to Kaduna is +/-700km depending on your route. I have done Uyo to kaduna which is about 850km with 76litres which is a tank and lessthan a quarter on 2003 accord with a bad air/fuel ratio sensor. A scan shows the fuel system is on open loop. I expect to have used about 65litres if my sensor was good. If i have a good sensor the same Ibadan to Kaduna on my 2003 accord will be no more than a tank just like your 2008 camry as both have 2.4litre engines.

Unless your accord was a v6, inspite that, 2 tanks (120litres) is outragious. Imagine 5.8km/litre against a factory 14.3km/litre highway, your fuel tank must be leaking to the ground!

OBJ approved import waiver for all power equipments imported for NIPP projects excluding that of PHCN. You should check your facts before calling anyone a liar. I earn a living from these projects so shut it.

How can equipment for contract award today be laying in the port? How can you explain it? If he didnt approved imports for power equipment, why are some of the projects completed? Where did they get the equipment coz no company in Nigeria has the capacity to manufacture such? Why are the other projects still on going?

The problem is that, all sensitive equipments carry a warranty. The warranty have all expired without the equipment ever being tested.

These projects were awarded between 2003-2007. It will take another 2years to procure the equipments and another year to manufacture and ship thats 3 years for them to start arriving. So, by 2006 was when you start expecting these equipments for 2003 projects and 2010 for 2007 projects. We all know these things never happen as planned so they actually started coming 2007 when OBJ's tenure expired.

It wasnt OBJ's responsibilty to clear but Yaradua and GEJ. Infact most came in in GEJ tenure, thats a fact.

You just saw 11yrs and believed the propaganda, no power reform equipment was imported 11years ago. Its a big lie. Those equipments are not bought but designed, procured, manufactured and shipped for every single project. 11years ago or 2003, contracts were just starting to get awarded, it will take atleast 3 years to recieve an equipment for those contracts. Thats 8years not 11 as you have been made to believe.e

I used not to support this dude, In fact I even voted against him but truth be told I may have been wrong. With several "transparent" projects to empowering the youth with entrepreneural drive, to the railway wonders and now rebuilding the desolations of many generations of leaders, I think I can say he is trying. Anyway this is my first time saying this on Nairaland.

However, every government should read emeagwali's thought about Africa and the way forward. I found it very inspiring(not minding the controversy surrounding the writer) http://think2wize..com/2010/09/where-is-africa-going-wrong.html
This news is all propaganda.

Customs have been seizing PHCN and NIPP equipment since Obj's regime for no just cause or beauracratic bottle necks created by custom and other port authorities. In Dec 2011, Barth Nnaji lamented when customs initiated a plot to sell off the very expensive equipments to themselves. The port customs boss whom i remember seeing on tv denying the allegation was investigated but the outcome was never published. They had already began selling when the power minister raised alarm. Many equipment were missing by then. Most of those equipments had import waivers granted by the Obasanjo's regime especially those of NIPP but the customs held them i guess for bribes. By then, some non performing contracts had been terminated while those who were still on claimed their containers. The containers customs claimed to be abandoned were more than 500.

These other containers mentioned now were the ones whose contractors were either terminated or are still non performing. Its not a matter that they were abandon ed. In 2012, my site recieved its total of 19 containers which were held by customs.

In another case, we have one container at a police station which fell off the flatbed truck and killed a biker. The police were asking for N4million for the container's release which the contractor refused. You see, that container is still in the police station and will never be released till a minister asks why the project could not be completed, then the police will accuse the contractor of abandoning the container forgetting that a bribe of 4million was the real reason the project cannot be completed.

Almost N2 billion worth of equipment lie waste in a warehouse in Akwaibom because the communities claimed a fraudulent total compensation of over N6billion which was more than twice the cost of the project. Why wont government abandon the project?

No one will abandon important equipments like that unless someone like the customs in this case stops them from taking it. They should not insult my intelligence shifting blames or trying to show that they are working!

If i may ask, who established NIPP? OBJ.
Who awarded all the power contracts? OBJ
Who paid for design of the projects? OBJ
Who paid for procurement of these equipment? OBJ then later Yaradua
On who's watch did most of the equipment arrive? Yaradua then GEJ.
So who is responsible for the failure of power reforms?
GEJ.

2. The runoff water washes away sharp sand with it leaving inconsistencies that look like honey combs and sometimes removing what is supposed to be the concrete cover to conduit pipes, rebars etc

3. The polythene creates a desirable smoother concrete surface although not effective for bonding of rendering.

rdokoye: This report is a load of rubbish, because the government doesn’t quarantine all second and third hand contacts with the index case. What they do is place them under surveillance, then tell them to contact them once they become symptomatic.

Individuals that are symptomatic are quarantined and treated, until their body either fights the virus off, or it gives up.
The surveillance is supposed to be physical and medical. A travel ban most probably will be placed, controlled movement/contact and much more frequent medical check up.

Thats semi quarantine to me. Anyways, it does give anyone the cause to run away, to where for what.

When we had the index case, i said Nigerians with their attitude of fear + disbelieve will not successfully contain the virus. It is happening just the way i said it.

That woman should be imprisoned not just quarantined. WTF is she thinking. The dead Dr sef, hmmmmm, i wish he was alive so i can make his death even more painful (i dont really mean it).
