soonest: Is it d same with ATF dextron III. Couldn't get ATF DW1Hell no. DW 1 is available but more expensive. |
Ahuitzotl: Recalled for doing their Job?!...What an irony. What is their job? Impeaching the best governor Nassarawa state has ever had? I served in that state and know first hand that PDP governors did nothing to improve that state. I pass that state monthly and have seen with my eyes the development Almakura brought to them. How can politics of PDP and APC be greater than positive development. PDP will get my disgust if a performing governor like Almakura is removed for no offence but for being elected on the platform of an opposition. Funny enough he is the 1st Governor of the state to reside there. Adamu and Akwe Doma both lived in Abuja and go to Lafia government house twice a week to sign documents then leave 2hrs later. |
Alenkakent: U kept saying I panicked ... I never panicked man...What i think you should do is to admit that you will handle it better next time. May be you were lucky this time, you may not have it the same way next time. I have been in your shoes. I lost brakes and there were cows all over the road, i chose a point and went through and didnt even have time to think of what to do. Right now i cant even remember if my handbrakes were working then, but i sure did not use it till i hit two cows of my choice. I chose where the cows were less dence and went through at almost 100km/h killing both. I didnt know then what i know now. |
Alenkakent: @ all, thanks for d contribution but I still insist that shifting my gear into brake was my last resort and I had to do it... I wasn't on a main road, I was already in my street and I was moving @ abt 10km/hr but d speed started increasing when d brake failed ... I tried d hand brake but it was not moving (stuck) and I just had to use the park which didn't work still but d reverse stopped d car...Pls understand that am not trying to fault you or ridicle you. Panic is not a choice so i understand. I may be commenting like this but may still panic if faced with same situation. One thing i think you didnt do right was to continously pump the brakes at the same time trying other things. |
Any girl who is about to start playing had to get must first of all tell herself 'if i lose him, no regrets'. |
Drive through Uyo, you will definately get a keke orange scratch mark. Round about law of give way to traffic on your left is bull'shit. Its a race of who's head gets there 1st. Worst is when a traffic light is out off power, wahala dey. One rickety pickup or keke go carry speed put full light, floor his accelerator and probably close his eyes (what i think they do) heading to the chaos like he owns the road or he is carry hard currency from CBN. Come and see running, give him road or get bashed. To make matters worst if you race and catch up with a guilty driver, he will intentionally look away from you pretending he cant here your curses. Lastly, women that drive in Uyo can do you anything and still rain curses on you. One woman for no just cause slammed her brakes with all her might to a complete and instant stop on the speed lane while i was approaching behind her at 100km/h and still accelerating. One woman made a u turn from park at park lane completely stopping right in from of me at the speed lane. |
GAZZUZZ: Putting a car in park while it is moving will not cause is freeze up instantly (from experience with several cars) it will make a funny noise and freeze when ur very slow like 5km per hour. Readone35L: U didnt get my point I wasn't talking about the riskI got your point quite well and am not contesting the fact that human life is not worth more comparable to a damaged car or a destroyed one. Not withstanding, selecting Park in that scenerio is still risky and a bad idea that amounts to waste of valuable time and effort in bringing the car to stop. I know about the mechanism which stops the park pin to fall in place while still moving until the car stops. Why do you think the mechanism was used in the first place? If that preventive mechanism fails to stop the pin from locking, and the wheels lock, the scenerio will change from a potentially dangerous one to a certainly dangerous one especially at higher speeds. You will be certain of losing control from locked skidding wheels (exactly what ABS is designed to avoid) leading you to an unknown situation. Hand brake is what an experienced driver should use as in most cases that i know, its a cable and may not have failed with the brake which is usually hydraulic. In addition, for an automatic gear its still possible to downshift as recommended on manual gears. Best way to go about it is shift from 4-3-2-1 or continously tap (-) minus to decrease gear or which ever type the driver is is using. Also note that while on manual gear you can turn off engine for better engine braking, not so on automatic as you will lose the ability to use engine braking. Panic is the worst thing a driver in such a brake failure situation will do. On automatic trans, turning off engine, park gear and reverse gear are no go areas. Putting park gear will do one of the two, 1) nothing or 2) lock your wheels. Both are totally unacceptable. Imagine having locked wheels, then skidding towards an oncoming trailer or tree or any other stationary object and certainly no ability to steer away. What a death sentence? I'd rather drive off the road steering away from obstacles than engage park. |
Readone35L: People are funnyMay be you are being funny. The part that he actually selected park and the car didnt stop is what i find hard to believe. Do you know what park is? Its a LOCKING mechanism that locks the transmission. I have seen articles on how to stop a moving car after brake failure, i have not seen 'select park gear' as one of them. It could cause injury or worst lose control. Its unpredictable and could only lead to disaster. |
Alenkakent: Which part don't u understand sir? So I cld rephrase itFrom the part you shifted to park. That is very risky and would definately damage you car |
You lost me at the last paragraph. |
Jaabr: I think im having the same issue,my babyboy(not v6 though) sucks the last drop out of my car.s fuel tank,i mean e too dey shak petrol,im just a student, going from home to campus or some few other places,my check engine is on,iv scanned twice only to be told its nothing. Im beggining to realize that every babyboy owner is facing the same issue(excessive fuel consumption),i stand to be correctedThere are a few things that do increase fuel consumption. Some of which are spark plugs, clogged injector nozzle, dirty air filter, faulty valve timing settings, leaking exhaust pipe, faulty oxygen sensors and catalytic converter, inadequate tire pressures, faulty ECU etc. Imagine what a combination of all these can do to mileage. Edited: oh i forgot, even the quality of fuel will affect mileage so also is difference elevation. In general, going to northern Nigeria from the south is a comprehensive climb while going back to the south is a general descend. You may use a little more fuel going to Abj from Porthacourt than from Abj to PH. |
tidymaster: no check engine light on. is there a way one can calculate fuel consumption by time travelled? I want to also ask people who travel same route as me what their spend is.Mileage varies with time but constant with speed of travel or type of travel (city or highway). So it will be difficult to establish a standard mileage in relation with time. |
Innovation4real: Thnks sir 4 taking your time. You shouldnt have removed the radiator, i was positive it wasnt dirty since in had original anti freeze installed. Since the thermostat is out what you need to do is check for leaks and replace your radiator pressure cap. Though i really doubt its the cap cos it doesnt lead to overheating but loss of pressure and coolant. Ask your mechanic to remove you serpentine belt and check the water pump bearing. Also look for leakage on the water pump or around its gasket. Check all hoses for leakage when the car is hot. Check for leakage around the head gasket. |
tidymaster: Hello House, please I need your opinion on the FuelIts hard to say. You need to carryout a proper mileage test. Note that driving in the city with alot of stop and go consumes more fuel than on highway. FUEL CONSUMPTION SPECIFICATIONS CITY 15.5 mpg US OR 15.2 L/100Km HIGHWAY 28.7 mpg US OR 8.2 L/100Km COMBINED 21.8 mpg US OR 10.8 L/100Km From your post i calculated 8.53mpg OR 27.57 L/100Km Thats terrible but it may not be right considering alot of errors in your measurements. Do you have check engine light illuminated? |
ayobase: yes, you are correct about news engineering. everything went down the drain since the owner died.Good names you called up bro especially Osarenren, we worked together he was the clients Asst. PM. Cant forget how he caused deportation of one chinese PM who wanted to show off. The guy later returned but could not be PM again. What a saying is, the engineers are good but still dont have enough influence to positive change the system. Even as GMs and AGMs etc, they just do their jobs, policies are in the hands of people who are either politicians or do not have the interest of the job at heart. |
Malawian: NIGGAR PLZZZZZ.No Sir. Even technicians are supposed to be registered. |
ayobase: how do u know all these.I work for a consultant to PHCN (TCN) and NIPP (NDPHC). I have personally supervised 4 PHCN projects and currently supervising an NIPP project. News engineering is one of the worst indigenous contractors, in fact most of ours are the worst. My company is one of the power project consultants and managers employed by PHCN since 2004 so i have meetings in PHCN HQ and NIPP offices and with most of their engineering (office/management) staff at the levels of General managers, Assistant general Managers and principal managers. Every project has a PHCN (TCN) project manager and assistant, PC (project consultant like my company) and EPC contractor (Engineering procurement construction contractor like News engineering) Most of those departments you called are distribution related which where not in the HQ and have since become responsibilities of DISCO's. Why do you think TCN embarked massively on recruiting over 500 engineers last year. PHCN installations were not maned or maintained by engineers or at best too few while top management where either non engineers or are figure head engineers without powers to effect the systems. |
ayobase: okayAn engineer posted to the office is a design engineer who will always be in the office while those at workstations are field engineers. The truth is that PHCN were using too few engineers only for where it is absolutely and very necessary. So when you enter PHCN head office thinking its an engineering institution, you will hardly find an engineer. You will only find them in the project, substation and transmission offices but too few of them because the ogas at the top are not engineers and have no vision or care less for new projects nor maintaining the ones in use. Those few were even redundant for reasons best known to nonprofessional managers of the institution. It is unfortunate that this country was ran in such a way that the emphasis was on cheap labour to maximise profit. Qualification wasnt made a priority so demand for educational qualifcations was on the decline while many graduates were left with no jobs. The reason why electricity workers went on strike before privatization was because the knew they were unqualified for their jobs. Private companies will have no positions for them and they will become redundant then lose their jobs. So they had to put up a fight and get more entitlements from government before ownership was transfered. They were successful with that but thats why you see them losing their jobs today. |
Jaabr: URGENT!! what does the Ment REQ.D sign mean,i know it means maintenance required but what kind of maintenance?? It just appeared in my car, though my oil is 2 month old now. And also, the BREAK LAMP sigh is on,what will do?Ment REQ.D is just a service period counter to assist you the user. It counts miles traveled in relation to the manufacturer recommended service interval. For example, EOD manual states service should be done after 10,000miles or 1yr which ever comes first. So maintenance required will illuminate in EOD after 10,000miles from last reset. However, you will follow the manufacturers recommended service interval only if you use manufacturer recommended service parts, that is, oem Honda engine oil, filter etc. With the kinds of oils and filters we get it is advisable to service 2-3times within one maintenance required cycle. That reminder was installed because using oem parts takes alot of time between service which you may loose count or forget. Just go ahead and reset. A broken tail light or brake lamp may illuminate the brake lamp indicator. Check your brake lights and replace burnt out bulbs. |
20pounds: I beg to disagree with this submission. mfm04622: This is not true! Am a an Electrical engineer and about 8 yeary ago some if my class mates and those that graduated after me were employed by PHCN and most were posted to the transmission side of PHCN. Also how many engineers do PHCN need? Engineers only needed in the maintenance and new project units smileandlove: This is all lies. PHCN employed 1000 workers and sacked 5000, who is fooling who with this privatisation. Look around you the new owners are sacking the workers and yet collect high tariffs to maximise profit. Was at Adageorge service office PH a week ago to sort my bill issue. The manager told me that, is only him and one other guy that is left now as engineers to take care of the whole area. While the few field workers were given targets to meet, hence your having high bills. dhabeautyjas: i think this is an exagerration, am an engineer and i have colleagues we graduated together 2008 in PHCN now so its a false claimGuys face it, those were illegal employments. Such employments were never ratified by the ministry of power so would not be recognised. The guidelines of employment would have involved making a public vacancy advert on media and a public interview held which was never done in the past 16years. I also know someone that was employed by PHCN with 3rd class 3yrs ago and has even attended FAT in several countries, something his seniors who have been there never got the opportunity to go. He went for his first FAT 3months after employment, imagine that. My uncle retired last year as an AGM in human resource department but could not give even me as an engineer employment for more than 10years he has been AGM. Na only back door them they do am and him no be that type. Ask those your people, one powerful person gave them jobs. Besides, they have to replace someone, so its either a person died, retired or changed job before he can be replaced. Even such were illegal but they were doing it. No be today ojoro start for this country o! |
ayobase: it takes coren certified to use engr. What he meant was that they were not engineers by qualification not to even look for those ones that have NSE and COREN registration. What he said is true, most engineers in PHCN that time were on transmission lines, substations and project departments only. I believe the phenomenon caused the detoriation of the power installations since non professionls where in managerial positions and all they care about is money. |
Jennylov: all waiting for the butt cheek. so sori d network is not available fr the moment. pls try again nxtyr lolOwwww Its just the but o. Nothing more. Pleeeeeeeeeaaaasssssseeee try it again, network is now available. |
Jennylov: jennylov in d hood.gat to dimple at my butt and cheek. but need to show cheek first lolll. The but is every1s favourite. Lets see pleeeeeeeease! |
GAZZUZZ: Cityng look for a peugeot 406 no one will dare stop you from ibadan to sokoto. LolOr Toyota Prado. Dont forget to leave your headlights on. |
tochimas: Please what could be the cause of constant damage to my kick starter ? About 3 months ago, my 2003 EOD was starting sluggishly with a gritty sound even when it has kick starter, the mechani told it is key starter which I gave him money to buy at ladipo, after that the car became ok and the sound smooth, just this past two weeks, I was perceiving some kind of burning smell from my kind, that is when it is on the move, this started after I passed through or stayed long in a flooded road, Egbeda , the flooding that day was really high and there was heavy traffic so we have to stay long there. Anyways, I noticed that there was kind of white smoke with some sound coming from my bonnet which later cleared after that day but the following day, I started piercing that burning fuse smell and my car started starting sluggishly without any unusual sound but still sluggishly till it couldn't start again after driving it home , left it for a day and tried starting the next and it wouldn't start. My mechanic is now telling me that it is the kick starter, that the automatic in the kick starter got burnt,You definately have an underlaying problem with the electricals or ignition switch. A high possibilty that your ignition switch is always stuck to start position causing the kick starter to continue running with the engine after it has successfully started the engine. It may be something else other than the ignition switch causing the kick starter to continue running. When you start the car manually ensure the key returns to position II (on). Your ignition switch system may be faulty. My friend had the same experience on a 98 accord, i was the one who noticed and sent him to a repairer. |
tushbobo: HONDA KEY ISSUE.It could happen to any kind of key. There are various small mechanisms inside the ignition switch that fits and lock unto your key when inserted. Those small parts operated by springs that causes them to move against the key are susceptable to wearing or fall out of place. Thereby either blocking the key hole or locking the switching mechanism. Find a very good auto key forging workshop or a good auto electrician should know what to do. It can be fixed. Alternatively and more expensively, you can choose to replace your complete set of keys. A complete set will require the new key and programming, its own ignition switch, its own door switch and trunk switch. I have experienced an electrical switching problem with position II (on) which trips off the engine while driving on a 97 accord. It takes a lot of time playing with the key on the position to have it on again. The switch was worked on by an electrician. I had a similar problem a long time ago on 86 accord but that time with position I (Acc). The radio wasnt coming on. The same electricin worked it. I have used him to work on my friend's 98 accord ignition that would not turn smoothly. He had to use force to start the car and was getting stuck at start position thereby locking the kick starter to flywheel. He had replaced 2 kick starters before i refered him. I hope you dont hang a bunch of keys with your car key in the ignition. |
rozayx5: i see a lot of them parked off Lekki Epe in a parkNot on the streets or high ways of Akwa ibom, cos i dont see them. I know Abj used theirs and most of them should have been completely broken down by now. |
