Will also need to scan for a dtc code/mil /cel from a picture of dashboard with engine running
It is not burning all the fuel so its either sensor temp or ignition
I do believe u want me to upload some pics.

@ skyfall
I'm sorry but isn't your company putting too much of the car's responsibility on you? When do you have time to think of the job itself? I wouldn't like that. And I'd expect a company to have a driver and specific service center. But then, yours may be different.
They are as a matter of fact. They dont appreciate it to worsen the matter. The reason my other colleague doesnt have a car is because he is incapacitated to drive, they do not want to spend additional money on a driver/mechanic. The more u demand from them the less u get. They prefer u buy it for personal use they pay u for using it. Eg they will not buy a modem, they prefer i buy the modem they subscribe. B4 i used my private car for work, they buy fuel and service. I got tired and sold the car they had no option but to provide themselves.

A service company would be ideal, but u know, cost can get high with those companies, moreover its an accidented car.

My work does not require my attention every day so i have free time to attend to the car. Am just trying to recover the car after its accident.

I use intelligent road side mechanics to tell me their opinions, i decide what will be done after much research of my own. I just use their hands, tools and some of their ideas. Imagine one mechanic telling me that my rear axle does not have a coil suspension spring even after he went under, i could not wait to get out of that workshop.

Now i know that the axillary gear system is fine.

However i still have problems with this car.

First fuel consumption is so high. i have calculated about 4.0- 4.5 km/liter with a/c which i feel is so terrible. It consumes about 23 liters per 100km. Also, that car has no visible smoke put the smoke is painful to the eye. It also jerks just after hard acceleration. A mechanic suggested i change the Air flow meter/sensor which causes similar problems. I checked online and found out that thats true. Am only scared that after i change it and mileage does not improve i would have a problem with my boss who has been complaining of low mileage of the car. If my boss bives me money to do this repair, he will instantly reduce my fuel allocation which if thr repair does not work, i shall be running at limited fuel allocation.

Secondly, the clutch had a little vibration when starting from zero. This vibration is increasing and more significantly when i have been driving all day. I also notice a small noise when shifting into gear 2 at zero speed. Most times gear 1 is hard to engage when stationary but easier when i put two first then move to 1. So often it makes that small noise shifting to gear 2. Knowing from my former car, this problems are caused by clutch plate or disc. The problem is, if i want to address this, what is the possibility that only the clutch plate has a problem and not the other disc (don't know its name).
Phones › Re: How Long Does Your Smartphone's Battery Last? by adanny01(m): 8:28pm On Nov 07, 2012
My Samsung Galaxy SII last at least
2days with no Internet, game, background apps
12hrs with constant 3g, GPS, calls and google map
6hrs constant surfing with 3g
10hrs with constant 3g and Internet apps on background less browsing
1hr GT Racing or Real football game (sometimes the phone temperature scares me sometimes no heating)

I realized that games are the no 1 battery killer followed by 3G network/browsing.
Phones › Re: Share Your Experience As Regards Your Phones Purchased In SLOT? by adanny01(m): 9:47pm On Nov 06, 2012
I heard many times ppl complaining on Slots phones.

I bought my Samsung Galaxy SII in Slot's Banex plaza office in Abuja. Its still working fine after 6 months. My friend bought a HTC and its doing fine about 8months old nw. Am planning for a sweet android for my wife, but these stories are scaring me.

Moreso, Samsung's shop is close to Slot's in Maitama, could not understand why or how Slot's SII was N68 and Samsung's N79, three months later Slot's SII went back up to N74. I went between those offices 3 times, each time check for defect in Slot's SII but couldnt find 1. I know these outlets of Samsung, LG, Thermacool, etc charge alot for warranty.

I hardly buy from manufacturers recognized shops cos of the price difference, in other words i take risk. I just hope Slot will clear their name soon, cos they are making it affordable for some of us.

@Sultaan
Your selector should look like in pic.

If problem is with fuel consumption check dash display for avg mpg, and if your check engine light is on scan it
First, thanks for ur assistance.

Yes, the selector is exactly that.

No check engine or any other light shows.

After testing the way you described, it worked that way especially the Lo and N. I cant tell about the HL but it seems normal drive is the H.

So if i conclude the aux is ok i can equally conclude the car is full time Awd/4wd.
Car Talk › Re: How Do I Use The Auxillary Gear Of Toyota Prado Manual 2006 by adanny01(op): 3:28pm On Oct 30, 2012
Well comprehended.

The main problem i have is the aux selection. It has this light on the instrument panel that shows when an aux gear is selected. The funny thing is that it goes off when i select Hi but comes on on all other positions of the aux gear selector including N. Also moving it to whatever position does not changes its status as it still remains on 4wd. I know hw it should feel on Lo but it doesnt.

I tried to compare with a hilux my colleague drives which has the same system. The hilux drives on 2wd only when the aux gear is in N position and no light shows.

My office just started complaining on he amount of fuel i consume (Not my fault). Av been directed to fix it as sson as possible to increase mileage.
Car Talk › Re: How Do I Use The Auxillary Gear Of Toyota Prado Manual 2006 by adanny01(op): 2:55pm On Oct 28, 2012
Am not sure if the prado has full time or part time 4WD. Part time 4WDs are meant to be switched into 4WD only when the need arises, doing so on pavement would end up destroying ur transmission.can U̶̲̥̅̊ give a description of d settings on the AUX? Are there settings for 2WD hi,4WD hi and 4WD lo ? Is the vehicle a 4 or 6cyl? Elaborate.
Sorry for the late reply, its due to internet problems i have in my new location.

It has a part time 4wd engaged only by the auxilary gear. No other switches for on and off. Normally once the aux gear is moved from N the 4wd is lit on the instrument panel.

I understand that the rear axle works full time and the front is engaged by aux. Its engine is I4 2.7litre just like Hilux.

I took the car to mechanic to manually check the status of the aux since it is a little confused on the light issue i explained earlier and high fuel consumption. They confirmed my fear that the aux is damaged, usually the gear cannot be disengaged. So, the car is actually on full time all wheel drive now, which does not change from the movement of the auxilary gear even to Lo gear.

They gave me an option of removing the auxilary 'propeller shaft', which will disengage the front tires from driving. I will consider that only when i am traveling long distance and put back when am back to work as i visit off road sites.

I was told the aux can be replaced for about 60k with not much guarantees. A mech in Abuja asked for 15 to repair it.

Car Talk › How Do I Use The Auxillary Gear Of Toyota Prado Manual 2006 by adanny01(op): 10:43am On Oct 11, 2012
My company recently gave me a Toyota Prado 2006 manual gear with Auxillary for site inspection. My work usually is site inspection which involves off roads and occasionally involves a bull dozer ahead to clear the road. Although it was refurbished from an accident it had but most systems are working fine. I learnt from the mechanics that they had to replace its 'clutch plate'. My boss who is an 'I too know' went for a test drive but came back with a burning smell which i guess its the clutch plate again. Starting from stop makes the car vibrate after he did that test. Another problem is starting from stop going uphill, it makes a sound that i hear from under the car.

I was handed the car with aux light lit on the instrument panel. but the aux was at N position. When i move it to H position the light goes off but when on N or L the light is lit.

Having never used aux before i cant say exactly what is wrong or whether the gear is actually engaged or not. Though it moves at normal speed when its of at H position i still feel there is a problem. I also know from when it has been used in bad terrains that the low gear moves slow and raves the engine high.

At this point i hope ppl like SIENNA could possibly understand and advise.

Car Talk › Re: Why Mechanics Remove Car Thermostats by adanny01(m): 2:38pm On Sep 27, 2012
The only reason i allowed the mechanic - with much insistence to remove my thermostat was the risk of the thermostat failing unnoticed. The effect i know is catastrophic.

My friend, who bought his 1st car(Golf 4) with no experience, damaged his engine within a month because of this or any other reason i don't know. I helped him take the car for checkup by scanning but found nothing wrong. The car would overheat and fan is still off or would come on for a minute then stop. While i know that when my car (Honda accord 97) overheats the fan remains on even after i switch off the ignition and lock the car. Fan relays were changed with no effect. I told his mechanic to just remove the thermostat he bluntly refused till the engine stopped in Kaduna Zaria expressway. He had to buy a new engine! The same problem started but immediately the thermostat was remove, fan was made constant then problem disappeared.
Car Talk › Re: Can A 16"rim Of Tyrel Be Used On 15"rim Of Wheel? by adanny01(m): 2:00pm On Sep 27, 2012
Brother, it is a crazy question, and I mean this in the nicest possible way. I don't need to see pictures of 16" tyres on 15" rims. From your response to this, it would appear you've made up your mind to fit 16" tyres to 15" rims, I can't see any other reason why you'd be trying to justify something that could kill you, and other road users otherwise.

I have just two questions to ask you:

Would you honestly, hand on heart, put your life at risk, by running a 16" tyre on a 15" rim? Tyres expand when the vehicle's being driven at a sustained speed due to heat. The pressures also rise. What do you think would happen, if one of the tyres broke its bead in service.

Even my 12-year-old niece knows the answers to the above questions.
The question is crazy but not too out of place. The op misunderstood something. Lets try to make him understand and profer the next available solution.
OP, it is impossible to inflate a 16" tyre on a 15" rim while it is impossible to fit a 15" tyre on a 16" rim.

The option you have is to change both rim and tyre to 16". Also as Siena suggested, u can increase the profile of the tyre too. Back in 1999 i changed my rim and tyres from 13" to 14" on my Honda accord 86 model, i enjoyed the car for the next 10 yrs.

A small problem may arise since car is usually designed for a specific max size of rim. If u dont exceed the recommended tyre size, then u are ok. If u exceed, under full load, the tyre may occasionally touch the body of the car which could damage the tyre. Worst case scenario could lead to a tyre burst.

I bought my laptop 2 months ago in Abuja. I noticed a part of the packaging carton a small area was cut off. I asked the sales girl who said she doesnt know anything as to why that is. when the laptop was brought out i also noticed the windows 7 sticker was not there but was there on the display laptop. So i refused the one they gave me and took the one on display. I was in a hurry that day so i hurriedly packed and left. The next day i noticed same cut area on this one 'HP LAPTOP REFURBISHED'. On the serial no sticker was the same cut area. The carton had cuts on all four sides, just the one on top was forgotten.
I was furious, called the office immediately, they tried to deny but gave up knowing they made a mistake leaving the top side. I didnt find anything wrong with the laptop and could not renegotiate. I also knew i couldnt get anything better for my budget. The price i paid was just N10k different from other ones that are new(that is if they are not refurbished too). I was very surprised and smelled a rat when i got the laptop a Core i3 for N90k. I let the issue die coz i had no time from work to go and pick a fight but wished i had known what they were up to, my bargain would have even been better.
Lesson for others to learn.

Tnx once more. My tyres are less than a year old. Infact they are all 2011 tyres.
Last check (about 2 months ago) was told dat both upper n lower arms r ok. Dat
was when I replaced d tie-rod ends, stabilizer links n front discs. Dis vibration is
actually driving me crazy. Cos of my faith in Honda I bought it instead of
Camry. My friend who bought Camry same time I bought dis Accord even says
2 me "see I told u". I kno Accord has advantages over Camry n vice-versa but...
There just 2 remaining things u ll need to check which causes a steering to vibrate.

1. Wheel balance - if its not the tyre i could be the rim. Have those front tyres properly balanced, the technician should be able to tell you if there is any problem on the wheel

2. Drive shaft inner cup/bearings - the inner cup is the ends of the shaft that is on the gear box. if it is worn out it causes vibration especially when accelerating. So also the 3 bearings each has inside it.

By what u have mentioned, 1 of the two is responsible.

Family › Re: How Do Northern Women Stay Silent During Childbirth? by adanny01(m): 2:03pm On May 18, 2012
I have a little understading to this. It has to do with genes i think (Coz am not a medic). That means both parents contribute, genewise, to how painful child birth will be.For the women, they say it depends on the pelvic whatever, which i believe is hereditary. For the man, the stature and build is hereditary.

This directly means if a father is huge (fat)- no offense intended, and the child inherits that, thats pain for the mother. Or if the mother has a small pelvic (the way i call it), means pain for her. If both genes manifest that is extra pain.

Now the real analogy, Igbo for example do have and mostly are huge, and can eat alot. That explains the size of belly their Igbo wives have (i no fit shout), which means painful delivery. All nurses i know complain that Igbo women or wifes of most but not all Igbo men can give a shout while delivering. To do more justice to this issue, Hausa men have smaller structures/build, which in turn is a less problem for their wives. W

I was born 3.45kg. My son was born 3.5kg. Am fat according to my BMI if he's got the genes, he will be too its not eating coz i dont eat much even as a fat guy.

Who concurs?
