The end to these killings is not near at all. These farmers settlements will continue to give the fulani guerrillas an upper hand if they dont move out to populated areas.
In those villages, a family of 6-10 can be living in a settlement where there nearest neighbour is a kilometer away with no road, electricity or gsm network. I hv been to those villages while working, trust me they are targets and cannot defend themselves or be defended by any form of security.

Its a pity this is happening. Very soon the Modus operandi of Boko haram will change saying they are fighting for the persecution of Muslims. They will forget that they caused the persecution.

@Outstip, i dont think its about the house itself. Its about comfort and respect.
Am sure you've heard stories or experienced a conflict between mothers in law and daughters in law. Most times its just some mothers in law trying to teach their daughters in law how to manage their homes in contrast with what the daughters were thought by their own mothers.
Other scenarios apply. There conflicts can be avoided if parents allow their children to sort themselves out. Simply by staying away and interfering only when absolutely necessary.

Rosyl, no offence intended. Am curious here, are you a real Nigerian or just fathered by a Nigerian(by that i mean, you just visit Nigeria). You dont seem to know the culture.
For example, how can the SIL who greets his Yoruba FIL belly flat on the hard cold floor be comfortable with his FIL under his roof?
In my father's house he holds the remote to the tv. In my house i hold the remote. In my father in law's house he holds the remote. Who will hold the remote in my house with my father in law in it?
For your information, if my father in law wants to stay in my house, i shall leave the house for him. 2 lions dont rule a pride!
Trust me, my father will never choose to sleep in my house if he's well and fit.
Not to even talk about my father in law who is more strict.

Any1 who has nt been to jos will never under stand the gravity of the problem. I dont think the is a way to quel this problem as far as am concerned. I know jos, especially its hinterlands. The terrain and its nature of settlements give room for such attacks. The bitterness in thiers is 1 of a kind.
Forgive me to suggest the fastest means to quel the grievances. I dare to say it but i have to.
WITHDRAW STF AND ANY FORM OF SECURITY FOR JUST TWO DAYS. i tell you peace will reign!

@Divine, u are so correct.
Let me also enlighten some people. FIL/SIL RELATIONSHIP CANNOT BE COMPARED TO FIL/DIL RELATIONSHIP. In all in law relationships FIL/SIL is the weakest in a Nigerian setting and shud be handled with care. It also desires and deserve most respect.
Family › Re: A Family Member Informing Your Spouse Before Visiting by adanny01(m): 1:46am On Sep 04, 2011
Hey hey hey hey guys slow down with the arguements and listen and be reasonable.
What if the FIL wants some money from the couple? Would he call his f**king SIL or his lil baby? Can this f**king SIL respect his FIL if request like this come through him? This SIL is arrogant.
@poster, is it only the Senate president that can present bills? So any1 that wants to present a bill must present to the president first. Your father i guess is really be disappointed though he has no business at your house at this stage.
Moderator, i think we need a poll here to clearify this issue. Those in favour of the FIL notifying the SIL first say AYE. Those not in favour of the above say NAY.
The NAY'S have it! GBAMMMM!

In the first place the father inlaw shud not be thinking of staying at his daughther and her hubby's if he desires to be respected. He shud hv asked the daughter for a hotel accomodation if he cannot afford it. Thats what my folks or inlaws would do. Mothers can visit and stay not fathers. I cant sleep under the same roof with my father inlaw.
I have begged my wife to beg her parents to atleast come and see our house since we got married months ago. They have not showed up even though they come to town every week saying there has to be a special event or reason for them to be there. My da will stay at the gate call me to come and meet him there but will nt come in. My wife will go out to greet him or if he is with my ma she comes in for a min while he is in the car honking da horn.
A father inlaw commands respect, he should not be found in his son inlaw's house where some respect is reserved for his son inlaw. This father inlaw got what he deserve though his daughter did wrong in asking him to seek permission from the son inlaw.

I have not stopped my habit and probably never will. I cant sleep without it. My parents tried with pepper but couldnt stop it. I hear my uncle does it too. As a result of it i cant sleep in public,
Just thinking if i can say it.
Ok here is it, my hand joins my balls b4 or while i sleep. U heard it, so what?
My question is can a lefty be changed? I guess no way but u r free to try. My parents tried to make my sister eat with her right hand, they succeeded in making her use both hands. But in all nther things she is still a lefty.
I guess some of this habits can be controled but u have to be very strict or u just let it play out.

Some simple questions will answer ur question.
Why do African men keep two wifes and women cant?
Start from culture.
Secondly, why is the rate of divorce low in Nigeria or Africa relative to America?
The second question almost made laugh as am typing. Imagine it, the more cheaters, the less divorce. The more divorce, the less cheaters.
Education › Re: 80% Of First Class And 2.1 Failed Nnpc Test by adanny01(m): 1:45am On Aug 18, 2011
Another relationship can be developed from the fact that the standards of schools are not the same. Some 1st class are worth 2.2 or worst in other schools and vice versa. The same way private secondary schs spoiled the sec sch system is the same way these private universities will soon do to the university system. Private sec schs produce better results so students moved to them to make their papers. Those who could not afford private education cheated and did all they can to make their papers. At the end no one wants to read but everybody wants to pass. Our universities are definitely going down like the sec sch system. Time will tell.

Family › Re: Anger Reactions In Nigerian Men And Women by adanny01(m): 1:37pm On Aug 09, 2011
I think the level of anger in a man at a point in time determines how the woman should approach or confront him. If my temper is high and my wife confronts me, she will definately get a raised voice or i leave the house. Women should learn dat men hate naggin wifes.
I do sometimes get deppressed or have a mood swing. My wife will never understand even if i ask her to pls let me deal wit it. Last time i had it she started crying that i didnt want to talk with her!
I think its best to talk once the mood in the house becomes jovial. But if he still doesnt want to talk, find another means to communicate.

Its possible but very very difficult as it cannot be controlled by either you or her. I know first hand about this coz i married my wife of 13 years which i met in 1998 when we were both 18. Its a very long road and has many junctions that have no direction signs. The only thing that kept us was that I was God fearing and she was so so so so so so very very very very FAITHFUL.
Car Talk › Re: Honda Babyboy Gear Problems. Any Personal Experience To Share? by adanny01(m): 11:47am On May 12, 2011
I have a 4 cylinder 97 Honda Accord aka Academy of Bulldog with gear problems.
Six months ago, i had to change the sensors coz it was not changing gear properly or at the right moment. The change made everything become normal. 3 weeks ago i changed the gear oil and serviced the gear sensors. A week later the gear started a new problem. The gear will free when changing between 2 - 3 and 3 - 4. Change from 1 - 2 stalls for some few seconds but does not free. 4 - 5 is normal. With the problem i cant initiate overtake on gear 3 as it will free for some seconds during the change and while overtaking which is so dangerous. I changed gear oil and the sensor but the problem persist. I ws advised to plan for a new gear box.
I wonder if thats actually the only solution.

The only reason the north had low voter turn out is that they did multiple and under aged registrations. When the elections came with much security the figures they had could not be redeemed. They now resorted to calling the turn out in SE a lie.
Buhari and his supporters r delusional. He is bad news. He is now happy that innocent ppl lost their lifes and properties. He has never accepted defeat. How can i vote a religious fanatic? What ever he claimed happened in the south happened in the north. Am from  the north and i saw with my own eyes CPC colonizing a whole polling center, no body dares to vote another party from that center. The better rigger won. He should be ashamed. i CAN NEVER TRUST BUHARI, NEVER!

To her, We pure blood Africans have a saying, 'The way to a mans heart is through his stomach'. I dont think you love him that much, cos if you did, you will do especially this for him. Atleast be a little diplomatic so as not to hurt his feelings, ego and stomach.

Education › Re: Why Do Pple Think That Studying Abroad Is Easier by adanny01(m): 11:55pm On Mar 11, 2011
I think its more stressful to study in Niaja.
Doing proper justice to this debate involves alot. I want to buttress a few points.

1. Real stress studying abroad is for those who work. It is a bigger deal for any body in Naija who works to study in a Naija University.

2. The stress abroad is to prepare the student intellectually. Lectures are well planned, curriculum well arranged, libraries/labs well equipped, study environment and conditions are good and so on. One example, i did a cognate course of 1 credit unit in my department with other students and the lecturer from another department offering it as a 3 credit unit course. Course content/lecture time was 3cu but my department calculates it as 1. Simple undue stress for nothing. You will find students having lectures from 8am - 5pm with at most 1 hr break.

3. The stress depends on the qualifications and experience of  the lecturers. From my research more students pass courses taken my Professors than Graduate assistants. In Nigeria, professors send their graduate assistants to class to teach rubbish. I dont have time to tell you the implications.

Because PHCN has just failed me i cannot continue typing, by implication, students should also go and sleep even though they have to study or do their assignments - food for thought.

Studying abroad is a big privilege and easy.

Phones › Re: The Cheapest Network To Call Now Is Etisalat by adanny01(m): 11:35am On Jan 25, 2011
op you need to do more maths before concluding. Let me help u.
N100 as a case study on the 3 networks
Etisalat N100 -N20(access charge)= N80 then N15/min will give u 5.3mins

Airtel N100-N36(1st minute)=N64 gives u N12/min totaling 5.3mins

Mtn N100- N30(1st minute)= N70 which gives u N15/min and 4.6mins

Pls judge for your self taking into consideration performance of each network.
The calculation for the cheapest network today in Nigeria goes like this:
Based on #100 air time
Etisalat = 100-20 = 80.
80/15 = 5.3 min on all Ntwk

Airtel 100-36 = 64 +1min
64/12 = 6.3min on all Ntwk

MTN 100-30 = 70+ 1min
70/15 = 5.6mins on MTN Ntwk alone

GLO 100/15 = 6.7mins on All Ntwrk

Based on this, Glo is the best and closely follwed by AIrtel, then Etisalat.
From my understanding of their English (MTN and AIRTEL), every first minute of every call is N30 and N36 resp then it changes. By that, if you are making short calls less than 60 secs 3 times with a N100 u will be charged 30 for each call making u spend N90 for 3mins (MTN). WIth that GLO remains the cheapest followed by ETISALAT then AIRTEL and MTN. Which ever way MTN is the most expensive network in Nigeria because of other networks.

The cheapest rate with MTN 2 MTN is the Voice Top Up with N750 = 60mins @ N12.5/min joined with a bundle of at least N400 = 22mins @ N18/min. To other networks the best u get is the N1500 National Voice Top Up with 85Mins @ N17.6/min all ntworks.

Car Talk › Re: Tips on car maintenance and how 2 drive Automatic cars by adanny01(m): 10:47pm On Dec 17, 2010
2 A thermostat is a device for regulating the temperature of a system so that the system's temperature is maintained near a desired setpoint temperature. The thermostat does this by switching heating or cooling devices on or off, or regulating the flow of a heat transfer fluid as needed, to maintain the correct temperature.
It seems in general it is advisable to have the thermostat remove and having the engine check light on than to have an over heating cooling system. The i dea for removal seems correct since the temperature the thermostat is set to maintain is not for Nigeria. I believe it is design for colder regions. My friends cooling fan (Golf 4) works for just about 30 secs to 1 min and stops for about 4 mins not matter how external temperature is. I also noticed that the few secs the cooling fan is blowing the engine will sound normal.
Last question, how does the thermostat affect the normal functioning of the a/c? In my car, the a/c still works perfectly without the thermostat, except that the fan works constantly but never over heat or reach an uncomfortable temp.
